Oh man its just awesome. Its powerful. Good battery life, is quiet compared to my pc. It plays pretty much all my games plus I cam have a full pc experience. The full-screen experience is great. I had an update issue on day two where it wasnt able to play games BUT being a windows device i easily rolled back.the update and reapplied the update and it was back to full functionality.

I bought the ally x day one, loved it, had over 5000 hours on it, i bought this xbox ally x around dec 11th. It is definitely worth the upgrade. The 3.5 rdna architecture is better then the ally x- meaning the terrain and background , hair, water , leaves , trees all that looks ALOT more realistic. The battery lasts the same which is a good 2.5 to 3 ish hours on 17 watts, which will play black ops at close to 60fps or higher with amd software frame gen. On 85 inch 120hz tv Spiderman remastered with amd frame gen no upscaling and in game frame gen looks flawless, spiderman 2 looks amazing but has some ghosting when running very fast up buildings. The fingerprint reader works alot better then the rog x. The grips ARE AMAZING. The machine doesnt get hot, the screen is good - wish it had HDR. But when connected to TV it outputs HDR. I do not use xbox experience- no need to i love the windows and the steam setup. I cloned my rog x ssd to a 4tb samsung pro 990 and put it in immediatly and it opened and did some updates - maybe one or two and works flawless. You do need to know how to do the settings with amd adrenaline software and in game settings to acheive ps5 level look and performance. But this is as close to a ps5 as you can get and its the only handheld with the NPU that does the A.i. tech without using GPu. If you can afford it with the best buy credit card 2 years no interest 45 a month wow. Best gaming invention ever in my opinion with windows and steam you have unlimited gaming options in your hand and tv.

The Xbox Rog Ally X is a great product but only if you’re comfortable messing with settings here an there to make it run the way you like. In many cases there might not be much you need to do if yoy’re running 720p or 900p with 60fps or less, but to run 120fps with 900p or 1080p mighr require you to mess with settings and tweak things until it can run smoothly and maintain theframe rate. As far as i can tell it heavily prioritizes the resolution over the framerate which i think is why i had so many things to tweak, but its still an amazing product. I use it for Horror games like 7 days to die and outlast trials but also play Overwatch and Marvel Rivals on it with minumal issues. Its essentially a mini pc. If you understand how to use a gaming pc you’ll understand this device. If you’re coming from console it may be a bit of a pesrning curve but not nearly as much considering you won’t be mouse and keyboarding by default. Highly recommend for portability.

    My first PC Console

As a strict Nintendo user, I have never needed a PC gaming console of any kind. That is, until I saw Steam and how many games it has. Not only that, but it takes a few years to adapt them to the Switch. I have a switch lite so already the screen of this device is improved 10 fold with 7in. While the non-oled screen is a deal breaker for some, I think the brightness and saturation on the Xbox ROG Ally X is amazing. This screen is 100x better than my switch. Why choose this over the Steam Deck? Comfort. I grip the handles, place this baby on a pillow and enjoy my steam experience. I've tried the Steam Deck Oled and regular one and I can't go more than an hour before my small hands hurt. Mind you, this console is a BEAST. Not to mention I just found out I can hook it up to my TV screen! I grabbed some xbox controllers and my HDMI cord and I am set. Unlike the switch where I have to lug a dock around. The controls take some getting used to if you are like me and only know Nintendo, but within two months it's second nature. If this is your first PC console, go for it! I doubt I'll have any regrets for the next few years. (side note, grab the killswitch case from Dbrand for the kickstand feature and grip enhancement!)

ROG Ally Xbox X, seriously a true Game-Changer

The ROG Ally Xbox X is an absolute powerhouse. I’ve used the Steam Deck, MSI Claw, and the previous ROG Ally X, and this latest version is a major upgrade. I was able to play Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty while docked to a 144Hz gaming monitor, and the experience was incredibly smooth—especially with the ROG Bulwark dock, which let me hardwire the device to the internet instead of relying on Wi-Fi. This handheld is seriously powerful. While I still use my gaming PC at home, the Ally Xbox X lets me keep playing seamlessly when I’m on the go. One important tip: if you’re using the Bulwark dock, make sure to get a 100W or 140W charger. The 65W charger that comes with the device isn’t enough to support the Turbo mode, and you’ll need that extra power to unlock its full potential. Overall, the Ally Xbox X is a beast. Highly recommended for serious gamers who want flexibility without sacrificing performance. Picture of my Xbox Ally X docked in a Bulwark at work! o

The ROG xbox Ally X is a great portable console and powerful, playing all games, including triple-A titles. The battery life is great; you can play for 4 to 6 hours. I play my Steam games and Xbox cloud games on it. I don't really mess with Windows 11 on it too much. For it to run great, you have to keep up with the updates to work better when you're playing. The ROG feels great in your hands. I would recommend it

Basically a portable PS4, which is insane. Once you get through the pain of setting up Windows (multiple updates), it's pure gaming bliss after that. Windows sucks, but it also means you can play literally anything and everything on this device (including very old PC games, emulators, etc). Performance is outstanding, even at low TDP (unlike the prior Z1 Extreme-based handhelds). Also, for some reason it has THE best sticks I've ever used on any device (including the $200 Xbox Elite). This really matters for racing games in particular. If you can afford it, this is a must-buy gadget for any PC gamer. I haven't touched my Steam Deck since I got it.

This handheld is an absolute powerhouse. You can play virtually anything you want on the go, and the performance is consistently smooth. I also appreciate that it includes the Xbox app, which works flawlessly with Game Pass, and that it supports other platforms like Steam, EA App, Rockstar Launcher, and more. The battery life is excellent, lasting much longer than I expected, and the ergonomics are surprisingly comfortable — it feels great in the hands during long gaming sessions. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this product and excited to see what ASUS brings in future handheld devices.

Honestly this is what the original Ally and Ally X were going for and while not perfect just yet, it’s going to be considered the standard all future companies attempt to live up to. Every update thus far has improved the experience and made it even better than it was out if box. Ive had every generation of the Ally and all of them while great, were definitely more of minimum viable product release or proof of concept in a way. Im an early adopter and software engineer that has been pc gaming since the early 2000s. The original allys were awesome if you really knew your way around the world of pc gaming software and hardware. Those first generations, while I loved in everyway and started bringing the handheld gaming world back into existence they weren’t in anyway handehld consoles they were actually PCs with a gamepad attached to them….The old generations weren’t necessarily products I would recommend to my stepdad for example who is a life long console only gamer, older, and less windows or computer inclinded…..when something wasnt working on those versions you really had to know the windows backend to get it fixed…..not something he would have been great at doing…….This version however is the closest we’ve come to mimicing the original goat handheld-console that was the PSP! After a few weeks playong on this version with zero need to leave the xbox ui it boots into….completely error free, I knew it was time for my stepdad to get one…..i just bought another one for my step dad for christmas this year. Just buy it if you have the means, are okay with newer products that have some quirks here and there, and want to game on a handheld that is tied to xbox…. For those of you out there looking for an iphone ios level of refinement and experience on a handheld in a product category younger than my first born son….don’t buy it….yet! Wait another two iterations and im sure it’ll be flawless by then. The Product categories still too new to fault any of the shortcomings as flaws in this model, the only thing I feel like they could have gone the extra mile on and didnt is the screen….for the love of god its 2025 put an oled in the thing and offer something more than 1080 so we can all use RSR and scale it down to 1080. I feel once the ai gpu/npu/integrated graphics world grows up a little more theyll have no problem making this change without ruining the battery life or FPS. But yeah buy it….

Bought this for my husband for Christmas, he’s is extremely satisfied! Loves how powerful it is! Plays his fighting games but also his RPG’s. Even runs smoothly with his mods! He’s super satisfied with the space capacity, the longevity of the charges, and everything about this hand held ticks all his boxes. From a purchasing standpoint I also have to give my experience five stars, I bought it and wanted it shipped in time for Christmas, but due to stocking issues it had to be shipped from the manufacturer, that was explained to me and it’s still arrived three days before Christmas even though the estimated arrival time was supposed to be January 2. Was very satisfied.

This thing is pretty amazing. It was very easy to upgrade the storage to a 4 TB if you want you can upgrade all the way to an 8 TB literally took 10 minutes to swap out the SSD‘s amazing performance for a handheld. I am very impressed at this item over the steam deck. I’ve been very happy with the progress that the ally has made over the years. Just remember before you get started to open armory crate and make sure everything is up-to-date. Takes a little bit of time but as well worth it. And if you pair it with a keyboard and a docking station, it is basically a laptop. This thing does the exact same stuff that my 20 22 rog laptop does.

I’ve been using the ROG Ally X for quite a while now, and it has honestly exceeded my expectations. The performance is excellent—games run very smoothly thanks to the 120Hz FHD display and the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor.Overall, this is a powerful, well-built device that delivers great performance in a portable format. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality handheld gaming experience without sacrificing power.

Okay so the title is misleading, I own both first and second Nintendo switch consoles but never a gaming console. I tried a friends Steam Deck and said meh, too bulky, my hands will fall asleep holding this beefy monster. When I found out about Xbox and Asus teaming up, I was curious. Said well, let me try it, if it’s not for me, I’ll return it. Much to my surprise, this device is light, comfortable, feels good in the hands, and with it running native Windows OS, allows you to download Steam, Battle.net, EA, Epic, and other game clients. Plus with it being a mini windows PC, a powerful one at that, combine it with a docking station and you’ve got the perfect setup for gaming at home and on the go! The customization options are near limitless. If you’re on the fence between this and the cheaper model, buy what you can afford, but if you can afford this model, it’s worth it, I promise.

I’m an Xbox/console gamer first and foremost and wanted to dip a toe into PC. I can not recommend this enough, it plays so well with Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. Bringing this on work trips and flights make gaming so simple and switching between my console and ROG is seamless. It’s awesome to have your Xbox games and Steam games at your fingertips, or TV with a dock.

One of the best Handheld out there, very comfortable grip, play very single game you throw at it, battery is great, you have to learn to do things around it to get it setup and ready very easy to use, I upgraded 1TB to 4TB without any problems, just plug in the NVME M.2 and follow the instructions through their website to upgrade SSD, screen is beautiful and bright, setting it need a bit patient, and machine is amazing and am so addicted to it playing my steam library on the go, also its a PC and gaming handled, you can download Emulators, steam, Epic games, GOG, etc OS on it. The new Xbox full screen experience make it easier to navigate through.

I love this thing! It handles all the games I want to play on Steam (the most “advanced” one I’ve played is Red Dead Redemption and it runs perfectly and looks beautiful!) and having my Xbox library available at a push of one button is extremely convenient. I also love how easy it is to switch over to desktop mode and use it for the work I used to do on my old laptop. It’s super comfortable to hold and I’ve never had the battery die on me; it lasts a long time. Overall EXTREMELY happy with my purchase!

Xbox Ally X wins over Legion Go 2

Here’s a tightened, cleaner, more polished version of your review while keeping your tone, opinions, and structure intact. I didn’t change what you’re saying—just how it flows, reads, and lands: ⸻ Review After Owning the Xbox Ally X and the Legion Go 2 The Xbox Ally X is a great device and has come a long way from the original model. While it’s not perfect, there’s a lot here to like—and only a handful of gripes. Here are my key pros and cons after hands-on time with both the Ally X and the Legion Go 2. ⸻ Pros 1. Ergonomics This is the biggest win for the Xbox Ally X. It’s incredibly easy and comfortable to hold, even during long sessions. I recently completed the Black Ops 6 campaign on it, and the experience was genuinely enjoyable. The built-in grips aren’t the prettiest thing to look at, but they’re absolutely worth it. In comparison, the Legion Go 2 felt awkward to hold, especially with its poor button and joystick placement. 2. Controls This is huge—and I don’t think enough people are talking about it. The joysticks, their placement, and the overall button layout are all excellent. The sticks are even tighter than a standard Xbox Series controller, making it absolutely viable for competitive games. This alone was the deciding factor for me keeping the XAX over the Legion Go 2. The Legion’s joysticks are floppy, poorly placed, and practically unusable—too low on the “joycon” so your palm ends up where your thumb should be. On the Ally X, the triggers feel great and the vibration in both the grips and triggers is fantastic. 3. Speakers & Fan Noise These speakers rock. They’re loud, full, and deliver impressive directional audio. The fans are also shockingly quiet—you rarely, if ever, hear them, which makes the whole experience feel more premium. 4. Xbox Full Screen Experience I’m optimistic about where this is heading. It’s not perfect and can be a little laggy at times, but it’s improving with updates. Compared to the messy software experience on the Legion Go, this feels far more streamlined and semi-console-like. ⸻ Cons 1. The Screen This is the biggest disappointment for me. A 16:10 7” or even 8” display would have been ideal. It doesn’t even need to be OLED—I’d rather keep the price down than turn it into a “halo” device like the Legion. The current screen looks fine, but it’s small and not especially immersive. The excellent speakers help a lot, but small opponents in games can be tough to pick out on a display this size. 2. Xbox Full Screen Experience Like I said, it’s good but still needs work. Ideally the user should never have to leave full screen for anything. Right now you still need to drop back into Windows to adjust system settings, check for updates in Windows/Armory Crate/Microsoft Store, etc. Lots of rebooting back and forth. 3. USB Ports Minor gripe, but the ports are too close together, making it hard to plug in multiple accessories. ⸻ Conclusion That’s really it for the big cons. I’m ultimately keeping the ROG Xbox Ally X over the Legion Go 2, and I feel like I’m in the minority. A lot of people seem obsessed with having a pretty OLED screen—even if the device is heavy, awkward, and not fun to actually play on. For me, ergonomics and functionality matter more, and the Ally X delivers where it counts.

When i first made the switch from the steamdeck to this it was a bit of a learning curve and i hated it, but once i figured it out was so glad i made the switch. Thing is fast, and feels comfortable in the hands. If you have the money i would definitely recommend getting this! The 1TB ssd that comes with it is ok but if you like to store alot of AAA games like me on it you'll want to upgrade the ssd. It was easy to do and most likey alot cheaper than them selling higher ssd versions of it.
