Bought the Roku3 to stream MLS Soccer, (requires Account with MLS Soccer) and Netflix, (requires Account with Netflix). After initial setup of the device, which was pretty simple, it has performed flawlessly. So to summarize I would have to say it does everything I expected so I am Happy.

Beats Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and who lot of other streaming devices on several aspects: speed, variety of content, ease of use, etc. I use R-Cast app for Android to cast all kinds of videos from the web to my Roku. I cut my cable subscription and use Tablo with this Roku. It's amazing!

I decided to drop my cable service. Im glad I went with Roku 3 because I have heard the stick is slower & doesnt offer Sling channel! Satisfied with it! Love that its small & not in the way but the outlet cord is short.

The Roku 3 is an awesome upgrade from my previous Roku 2. First of all, it is very easy and quick to set up. The Roku 3's user interface is just awesome, and much snappier than the pervious one. It's much easier to navigate the channels with the new user interface. They also added a centralized search where you can search for titles or actors across all channels and they then show which channels offer that content. This is really an AWESOME and very useful feature! Besides the improved UI, I really love the new remote control, which contains a head-set jack and volume controls. When you plug-in a head-set, the audio on the Roku's HDMI interface is automatically muted, and re-routed to the head-sets. This is awesome when watching movies at night when your loved-ones are asleep, and might be equally useful when you ask your kids to use the head-set, so you don't have to listen to Dora the Explorer all day long.. I should add that the audio-quality on the headsets is truly HiFi - it blew me away! Roku offers TONS of channels on the Roku! No comparison to the very limited number of channels on the Apple TV. I think Roku says they have +700 channels now. Some of my favourite channels are: - Amazon (some movies included with Amazon Prime!!) - Vudu (amazing video quality!) - Netflix (their selection really gets worse every day) - Hulu - HBO Go - Disney - Smithsonian Channel - great music channels, like: Pandora Radio, Amazon Cloud Player, SomaFM, ... - tons of science & tech channels, like: TED Talks, CNet, NASA, ... - tons of food channels - tons of domestic and international news channel, like CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Euronews, Tagesschau, Deutsche Welle, and many more! - lots of international channels - many more.. Do a web-search to find the complete list of all available Roku private channels, and check out the VideoBuzz channel! One almost hidden feature of the Roku3 is that it has a USB3 port on the side -- that means that you can plug in a USB-flash drive or a USB disk, and play content you own from there! USB Media Formats: Video: MP4 (H.264), MKV (H.264) Audio: AAC, MP3, Image: JPG, PNG. One small thing to look out: make sure to switch your video to 1080p in the settings menu, it starts with 720p resolution. Compared to the Roku2, there is no audio-out jack on the back of the Roku3 - this was not a big issue for me,. Last not least: how does the Roku3's price of $99 stack up against the competition? With the Roku3 you get more channel choices than what you get with the Apple TV. If you compare it to "smart" TVs, like Samsung and others, these manufacturers charge exorbitant amounts for their "smart" TV features, compared to their regular TV models -- you'd pay several hundred dollars more, and you would end up with less -- and you'd be waving your hands at your TV. So if you compare the Roku3 to "smart" TVs, the Roku3 is an obvious choice because of it's low cost, more channels, and the much sleeker user interface. All in all, I think this product is a BIG step up from the previous Roku 2 and far ahead of the Apple TV, which I have not used since I switched to Roku. If you own an Apple TV, or already own a pervious Roku model, I'd definitely recommend to upgrade to the Roku 3! If you are in the market for a new TV, then go for the non-smart version, and add a Roku3! You won't regret it! It's awesome!

This product is easy to set up and use. Great for the price to connect TV to a wifi source. They do not list how much it costs for the channels you have to pay for. Netflix is great and has many of the shows I use to watch as a kid. I'm still discovering things to watch. The roly make it easy to connect the internet. Little tedious to search for stuff, you have to scroll through with the included remote. Remote has a head phone jack so you can listen to the show without disturbing others. This thing is great!

I already had a Roku 2 XS but I saw the new Roku 3 with the headphone jack on the remote and faster processor so I had to have it! Setup was even easier than past Roku versions and I was up and running in minutes with the on screen prompts. The picture and sound quality is great and the box can be hidden away if preferred due to Roku's wifi remote control. The box will also work with IR control if you want to use it with a universal remote. I use a Logitech remote, so I need line of sight for that remote to work. The headphone feature is great, and not only makes for easy late night or private viewing, but really makes watching TV an immersive experience. The pack in earbuds aren't bad, but I use my Klipsch S4 earbuds and they sound great with the Roku. Once you plug in the headphones the sound from the TV cuts off and you control the volume with buttons on the side of the Roku remote. Be forewarned that the newest flagship Roku only has HDMI out so it will not work with some (older) TVs. I highly recommend this product based on quality, ease of use, and huge selection of programming available. There are games available but I don't really play them.

Since we don’t have a smart digital TV, we opted to buy a Roku 3 box for streaming, and I’m glad we did. Other boxes were available, but I selected the Roku because it seemed the easiest device to set up, and I was right. After plugging the Roku 3 into the HDMI port of our digital TV (won’t work with analog TVs), and connecting to the Internet and Roku.com we were streaming video 15 minutes later. The Roku 3 offers 1000 plus channels many automatically installed during the setup in the form of channel icons on the main menu screen. Some are pay and some are free. We subscribed to Netflix prior to purchasing the Roku, so all we needed was to log in The Roku 3 remote is easy to use, and is an RF remote instead of the typical infrared device. You can also run the Roku via your mobile phone or tablet using the Roku app. We tried the android app on our tablet, and it worked great, but it’s just as easy to use the Roku remote, which also has an earphone jack if you want to hear a program privately. The remote can also be used as a motion game controller with action games like Angry Birds Space, which is included. Besides the standard channels installed with your Roku setup, you can add private channels, by independent developers that are not promoted by Roku. If you do a Google search on Roku Private Channels, thousands will pop up. Some are pay and some are free. I recently added Nasa TV, Crackle, the History Channel and Facebook, and the Roku 3 is working just perfectly. I also tried streaming a video and photos from my tablet, and it really worked.

The Roku 3 was very easy to set up (less than 5 min). The star features are, of course, the intuitive interface and abundance of channels available on Roku's channel store, AND the growing list of "private channels". Truly something for everyone! That feature alone puts the Roku 3, in my opinion, far ahead of its competitors, even AppleTV (which I also own). So for only 99 dollars (or less on sale), the Roku 3 is the #1 Choice if you're looking for content.

Who cares about Youtube, this is great for watching VUDU and Netflix 5.1 movies in surround sound. Also good for Pandora. It replaced a big PS3 in the bedroom. Have it hardwired from Uverse cable box with 8" ethernet cable and it sits on top of cable box nicely. One of the best features is plug for headset so I can watch tv while wife reads. Great product!

I didn't really know what I was getting into, but I am sure happy I picked one of these up. The interface is fast, it works amazingly with all of my streaming services, and it's so cheap! My wife loves the headphone option for when I want to stay up late watching my shows. If you have home media, invest in Plex and make it shine. I heartily recommend this to anyone.

Overall great for what it is. Stream a lot of content, like hulu, Netflix amazon and a lot of other programming I've never heard of.. Play game's like angry bird with motion remote. Roku 3 has a great interface, is easy to setup and control. This coupled with an outdoor antenna enabled me to cut my 90 dollar a month cable bill. I pay about 16 for Netflix and hulu.. I think their about 8 bucks a month each. The last I seen there is about 700 channels to stream, grant it there is a lot of stuff I don't care for, but there is a fair amount of channels that's pretty good. Easy to add the channels you like. Overall I'm very pleased with the Roku 3.

Easy set up right out of the box. Installation was a snap. Remote is easy to navigate and having the head phone jack is great if you want to watch tv when someone else is sleeping. I am saving over $100 bucks a month now that I got rid of cable and use the roku for my tv needs. I also purchased a HD atena to receive local channels which was $99 bucks!! WISH I DID THIS YEARS AGO!!

I love my Roku's and own 3 of them. I love the fact we no longer have cable and we have already saved money since getting rid of cable they all have paid for themselves. Easy to set up and just go. Netflix, huluplus and amazon run amazing on this little box. Highly recomend this because of this and ease of use.

The system was easy to setup. Needed no documentation in Hand. I was switching from using Logitech Revue to Roku, and therefore noticed a huge improvement in the response delay (from the time you press something on the remote to actually see the device respond and the display doing something about it). To be fair to Logitech Revue, it was a product that was made 3+ yrs ago and the support was dumped by Google more than a year ago. It may not be a nice comparison to make, but thats what I had before roku 3. The best part of Roku 3 is having a 3.5 mm audio jack on the remote. It works seamlessly. Now, I can watch anything anytime without disturbing anyone else at home. The App availability is not very great but it is decent. This works similar to Chromecast, in the sense I can push anything on Youtube or Netflix on the smart phone or tablet to run on roku 3. I wish chrom browser also supported this. But unfortunately this is not based on Android (I believe), so No luck there.

    Excellent Streaming Media Player

At first I was skeptical about a streaming media player and honestly was torn between this (Roku 3) and the Apple TV. I have to say I am glad that I chose the Roku over the Apple TV because I am able to get more than just video content on the Roku. You can play games such as Angry Birds, Bowling, Fishing, Video Poker (very addictive at least for me). The video content for weather apps is great. And I can't beat being able to watch the movies that I want when I want. The device is very light and in one of the reviews I watched before purchasing the Roku 3, it was stated that Roku actually had to add a small amount of dead weight to the device to keep it from being drug off by weight of the cables attached to it. It does support wireless streaming from your router to the device but if you can hard wire (Ethernet) the connection is much more consistent and faster. The remote is awesome as well. Roku did not employ the use of an infrared transmitter and receiver system with the device and remote. The remote and cube communicates through WiFi; so if you wanted, you could listen to music from Pandora streaming through your Roku through earbuds connected to your remote. Yes the remote has a headphone (2.5mm) jack. I am very pleased with the purchase and the content that is available on this device.
