Compact 4K TV: Great Value with Minor Compromises

What I like: Streamlined Setup: I love that it's a single-remote solution and doesn't require a separate set-top or streaming box. Light & Compact: Its small footprint makes it easy to place. Impressive 4K at this size: For its compact dimensions, the 4K resolution looks fantastic when viewed up close. What I dislike: Black Levels: The black levels could be better, but honestly, it's hard to complain given this TV costs under $200. I'd absolutely consider a "Pro" version if they offered one in this size!

I picked up the TCL 43-inch 4K Roku TV for my bedroom, and honestly, I’m really happy with it. The picture is super clear, especially when watching 4K shows on Netflix or YouTube. Colors look great right out of the box—I didn’t even mess with the settings much. What I really love is the built-in Roku. It’s super easy to use, and I had all my streaming apps set up in minutes. The remote is simple, and the voice search actually works pretty well. Sound is decent—not amazing, but it gets the job done. I might get a soundbar later, but for now it’s fine for everyday watching

So I have been using mostly Sony and Samsung TV's for the majority of my life. My old TV finally died and I need something bigger than the my old 32in 1080p Samsung TV. For the price when I got it on sell was a steal, $230 compared to other options at the store. I have never used Roku ever before, mostly streamed stuff through my PlayStation. But the Roku software is super simple and straightforward. I enjoy the customization options given from changing sounds, wallpapers, themes, and etc.... Roku is easy to navigate, the remote is compact and simple to use, if you get the Roku app than you can use your phone as a remote instead which is neat. The remote has a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can plug your wired headphones in and listen through them instead through the TV. The sound is good not great compared to some other TV's, but considering the price it is beyond good. The picture is good and the TV doesn't have much glare to it, I don't know if this is due to the screen being matte but it's good. Other things I like is the inclusion of the Composite AV ports (red, yellow, white ports) so I can hook up my PlayStation 2 and play it. The Ethernet port is good nothing outstanding just very well built and solid. The ARC HDMI is not 2.1 so no 4k 120hz which is a sad and one of my faults I have with it. The USB A ports are not 3.2 I think they are the older USB A ports, so they are not the fastest out there but again they get the job done. Overall it is a TV that I truly like and would highly recommend it especially if you can get in on sale. If you just want a solid reliable built TV with good sounds and a simple robust smart tv software than I would highly recommend this TV.

Bought this for my grandkids room for the built in Roku and other apps. The TV works great, no hassles with the USB stick/wires, has nice picture, sound with decent refresh rate. The kids can easily switch between the kids apps without calling me upstairs every other minute. Hangs nice on the wall too overall I would recommend this new Roku TV.

Good deal, and the best smart TV platform. All my TVs are now Roku because it's so easy to use and find everything you'd ever want to watch. Once you learn that remote there's no going back to anything more compicated. You can also use the app on your phone or tablet. I use it for Xbox and it does have game node. The speakers aren't awesome, but perfectly fine for a bedroom. The only thing I'd wish for is darker blacks because I only use it at night. Other than that minor gripe, it's a great deal if you get it on sale. Also, it was super easy to mount on the wall because it is quite light and a very manageable size. I was able to mount it by myself without any help.

Great tv. We already own the 65 inch so no brainer when we seen this one at an unbelievable price knowing how great of a tv these are. My kids couldn’t be much happier. I ended up buying four of them. Two were damaged by the carrier and one was replaced immediately at Best Buy store as they only had one in stock, The store ordered the second one to be delivered to store and will pick up upon arrival for the last child. Picture quality is great and adding apps is so easy. My 3 year old loves it and has no problems operating the remote to find whatever she wants to watch or to play on her console.

Great TV for the price! Simple to use, great picture! Get more of the free Roku channels on this TV than with the Roku express streaming box. Only thing that was confusing was if you are on the home screen and go to settings, there weren't any picture settings (brightness, contrast, tint, etc.) other than automatic brightness or something like that, you have to be actually watching/streaming something then hit the * button and then there are the usual picture settings. Other than that its been great, and although its slightly smaller than my high end set in the living room, it costs like $800 less, and the picture is still REALLY good! Definitely GREAT second TV for the bedroom or if your on a budget this would be just fine in the living room though you may want a slightly larger size?! Very happy with it thus far!! I don't have a gaming system at this time so I don't know how well it does with that?!

Good picture, great price, bright, and very responsive! I bought this as a birthday present for my 14 yr old. It seemed like the most inexpensive 4k TV from a brand I recognized. I own a TCL roku TV that was one of their best models about 4 years ago. The responsiveness of this new roku TV just blows it away. No lag and I am watching a netflix movie in 15-20 seconds from power on… and oh yes… it seems to have like a “sleep mode” because when you press power it is ready in a solit second… no tv I own does that invluding my two LG OLEDS. This a is a great value!

I have been looking for a replacement for my ONN 32” Roku TV in our bedroom. After considering the availability options and price point, I decided on this 43” Roku Selext TV, I might have chosen the Plus series if it came in 43” however the Select Series is a great choice. For my viewing habits, I love the easy to use menus, HDR content jumps out both to find and the viewing quality is great. Not sure why the Roku Select Series doesn’t get more praise. I think ideally everyone one wants the very best TV, however, to get a much better 43” tv you have to sent twice as much, even then I still believe the Roke Select holds its own. Highly recommended.

Wow, what an upgrade. I've been rocking a hand me down 10+ year old 28" Dynex TV for almost a decade. The thing was becoming a piece of junk. I have a roku for it, so I looked into this roku tv. For the price I couldn't pass it up. It had awesome reviews and my good friend recommended them to me. I pulled the trigger and couldn't be happier. TV shipped fast and secure with FedEx. Was easy to mount on my wall and looks fantastic. Beautiful crisp picture quality and wow 43" is quite the upgrade! My TV is huge now and I love it!! Go get a roku tv, you won't be disappointed.

Definitely five stars based on what you get for the price. I was looking for something cheap but bright enough for my outdoor covered patio. Its an indoor TV but my patio is completely covered and sheltered from the elements and I purchased a TV cover from Amazon that works pretty slick. This is absolutely what i needed. The reflection handling leaves a little to be desired but the peak brightness on this TV is high (coming in at 408 nits in real scene brightness) for the price point. I was between this and the Hisense A7 or QD6 which is about 100 nits dimmer but better reflection handling but i figured I’d rather have more brightness and i can position it so there isn’t much reflecting on the screen when it’s really sunny outside. It’s not as good as the two Hisense U8’s I have in my house but for a cheap set it isn’t bad at all and I can now enjoy my Red Sox baseball in peace outside whether I’m just chilling on the patio or loinging in the pool. While I prefer the Google OS, the Roku OS is almost right there with it. Very good TV for the price!

Props to Roku for improving their televisions. This one felt smoother and responsive than the previous versions. Easy to find apps as well. It is the cheaper option as well. I bought this one because it came with the AV connection. I currently have my video game consoles attached to it. Picture quality is great.

I love my little Roku aTV. All of the TVs in my house are Roku smart TVs. It’s easy to set up and easy to use. I thought the sound needed improvement so I also got a Roku sound bar. I can use one remote for everything. I love that! Great picture too.

I purchased the 43” ROKU Select 4K TV for a bedroom and mounted it on the wall. The TV is thin and light weight so it was easy to wall mount. Setup is simple and connecting to my 2.4ghz Wi-Fi was fast. After streaming different channels like, sports, news and movies I immediately noticed how bad the audio quality was on all types of content. I was going to return the TV but I decided to research soundbars before taking it off the wall. I found the TCL Alto R1 soundbar (same exact unit as the ROKU soundbar) and ordered it. Just like the ROKU TV installation, setup was easy and it quickly connected to my Wi-Fi network. WOW! The soundbar made a huge improvement in the sound quality and now I’m loving this setup in my bedroom. If you plan on buying a ROKU TV you will need to purchase a ROKU enabled soundbar if you want good audio quality.
