Recenty reviewed Roku hd device that attaches to tv through hdmi connection. Roku Premiere 4k Stick is comparable to Amazon Fire Stick, which I also own & have reviewed. Both are similar however, recently several apps that I enjoy have not been included on Firestick & have been included on Roku. Enjoy both devices for different reasons. Roku interface user-friendly & easy to navigate. Superb streaming @ a great price!

Great When You Have An Older TV.

Unless you need a new TV (that operates with Roku), get this very small appliance. It's only 1 inch wide, 3.5 inches long and .75 inches tall. It can fit inconspicuously anywhere around the TV. It can be powered by the TV itself (using a USB port) or alternately with a plug adapter that's included. Setup was simple and nearly all the exact same apps and programs on a older stand-alone Roku or built in systems. Price-wise, it is worth all it provides. Almost like having a mini-Xbox that doesn't play games or discs.

Purchased this as a gift for my folks. Easy Roku set up! Great picture quality! Easy to use navigation. Sometimes they are late to the party negotiating channels with streaming services.

    Great "cable-cutting" option!

When my cable provider recently raised my monthly payment by 50%, I'd had enough of their service; so I looked for options. I already had a smart TV and an antenna that worked fine with digital broadcasts. I needed a no-subscription device that would work with, as a minimum, one subscription channel with which I could view the networks that I wanted. This Roku device matched my needs exactly, it installed without any problems, and I was successfully viewing what I wanted in minutes. I couldn't be happier with the product. It's very compact and the remote is simple to use.

Cable prices are going up constantly, and I was looking for a way to cut my costs. However, I am taking “baby steps” in the process. The ease with which I was able to hook up my new Roku was amazing. As a senior citizen, I was happy to see that there was not a lot of cabling that needed to be done. It’s basically just plug it in to your TV, and go online to set up an account. I was also very pleased with the price I paid for the Roku. I feel like I’m one step closer to “cutting the cord” on cable!

This is the 3rd ROKU device I’ve owned and works well as long as you have a solid WI-FI connection. The stick is a great idea but being placed so close to the back of the TV caused a great deal of heat and eventual failure. I don’t recommend the Stick but the Premier is small and very easy to install and still inexpensive. I still have the first Roku device I bought 6-8 yrs ago and it still works great.

I'm a fan of Roku. This particular little device does not have a RF remote, but I didn't want that. I have a very reliable IR extender. I placed the Roku unit inside my entertainment cabinet, stuck one of the little IR transmitters onto it, plugged the HDMI into my home theater receiver, programmed my Logitech Harmony remote (which took a little extra effort due to the ultra-basic remote controls that Roku devices come with), and voila! I have several Roku devices in my home, and they all come with the ultra-basic remote (IR or RF; it doesn't matter). Sometimes that simplicity can be very annoying, but it is mainly intuitive. Just a bit clunky at times. All in all, this device does exactly what I want it to do.

I upgraded this from the ROKU stick since I have a 4K TV and it was totally worth the $40. The picture is amazingly sharp, the sound is excellent, and the setup is as simple as it gets. Only Missing the volume control on the remote.

I don't think I understood what the hype was with ROKU before purchasing it. I was trying to find the best streamer to get a few more years out of the older TV I have in our bedroom. This was recommended by the Associate and I have to agree that it is easy to use and worth the money. It has 4k. I can't say how good the sound quality is though because I'm using the internal speakers on the TV which is going to be muddled compared to a soundbar or better setup.

Extremely easy to set up and use. Connected to one of the HDMI outlets in the Denon home theater amplifier - ROKU unit sits on top of amp for direct wireless access to remote (due to ROKU unit size it is barely visible). Configurations available for digital thru 4K UHD. Excellent HD picture, and 5.1 sound quality separation. Now have access to streaming channels not available in the existing model Samsung TV smart hub. Added bonus - Best Buy had unit on sale.

Was skeptical about purchasing this Roku. That was because I did not understand enough about it and how it works. Glad I bought it now because its saving me $150.00 per year in provider fees and I can get rid of my cable tv subscription. You really don't need a box if you have a smart tv because you can stream video content over the internet and get all the channels you think you want. It was easy/quick set up so you are up and running in no time. Must also mention the great price of $35.00 - a Best Buy special - cheaper than its competitors.

Bought this item so we could use an older non-smart tv to watch Spectrum cable using their app. As easy as possible to install; plug it in and register online. Navigation is easy. Quickly loaded the Spectrum app and set-up Netflix, Amazon, and even our Great Courses Plus subscription. Will probably need to purchase more of these to stream MLB TV to older smart tvs that no longer support the app. The only downside is that it does not control the volume of the TV so I have to use two remotes.

    Out performs Fire Stick

I bought this streaming media player as a replacement for my first stick. I've been having some issues with Sling TV app rebooting on the fire stick quite a few times while watching TV and even though I followed the recommendation of "clearing the cache" on the fire stick daily, it was just becoming a PITA to keep doing it. Moving to the Roku player I have not had this issue nearly as much. Don't get me wrong, the Sling TV app still reboots on the Roku, but no where near as much as on the fire stick. Not to mention, the Roku player is faster than the fire stick restarting, as well as when changing channels, changing apps, loading content, etc. Overall the Roku seems to out performs my fire stick in many ways.

Decided to leave Xfinity TV and use Roku as my internet portal. Very easy to set up and I have Roku working on three TVs with good performance. The only issues I've run in to regard the audio control (can't be achieved with older tv's lacking a newer HDMI configuration), and the tight fit of the stick on one tv (have ordered the free hdmi extender). Still learning about some of the features of Roku, and I'm quite happy with switching to YouTube TV for access to local channels and unlimited DVR.
