We purchased this because the cable to the kitchen TV stopped functioning properly and it was very difficult to run a new cable. It was relatively straightforward to install this on our TV and the picture quality is very good. We get our cable stations as well as additional stations through the Roku's connection to our home's wifi. We really like this Roku's small size for use in the kitchen and like its remote's ability to turn the TV on-off and control the volume. We have another Roku that requires the TV remote to control the TV on-off and volume. One remote is better than two. This Roku allowed us to return one cable box reducing our monthly cable bill. It will pay for itself in four months. There are three downsides to any of the Roku products. The first is the inability to directly input a channel number on the remote like one can with cable. This problem is reduced by setting up favorites so one has fewer channels to scroll through to get to the desired channel. The second downside is the inability to rewind what one is watching to see it again unless it is a show you have recorded. The third is it requires more steps to record a show, taking more time. Other than these few inconveniences, this has been a great substitute for the broken cable. It is smaller than the cable box, it mounts on the rear of the TV much like a thumb drive, the connecting wires are shorter, and the picture quality is great. There is approximately a 15 to 30 second delay (I haven't timed it) with the Roku compared with the TVs connected to cable which hasn't been a big deal.

The Appletv is a streaming device I have had for almost every generation and I was always hesitant regarding Roku. The current generation of Appletv cost me $199 and the remote is a joke. They tried to make it cutting edge like a touchscreen with gaming and it fails. Menus are not very navigational and some don't want to talk, they want to thumb. Enter Roku, I got this for about $40 and it is amazing. Crazy easy remote. Good menu. Does everything you need it to do. Understand people, the device is just a device and you do not need to pay Apple $199 to watch your favorite show or movie as the apps are basically in every ecosystem and it is about getting to the show, not about the main menu. By the way, Roku has a good main menu, so save the money. The quick links to 3 out of the 4 services I watch are super fast access as well: Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix.

I initially just wanted to get Disney Plus for the family, the newer tv in the living room had the Disney Plus app on it, but the one is my wife's and I bed didn't so, I thought, either buy a new tv, or look into either getting Roku or the Amazon Stick. After reading a lot of reviews about both, how both had a lot of apps, but Roku had more, and the user interface, which is simple and pleasant to look at, I choose the Roku 4K Stick, and I am glad I did. Super easy setup, and I was not able to get Disney Plus, but get the Disney Bundle which included Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Hulu for a great price. We even later got another tv as a gift which was a Roku TV which I love very much. No issues as of yet, thank God, and they are constantly adding more apps to Roku, which makes my choice an even better one. I am even thinking of buying another Roku 4k stick for another tv in our house, but that right now is just a thought. Having Roku is awesome.

So I’m moving to a shelter and I needed something that could hook up to my aunt’s tiny tv for my 3 year old and this was perfect I just have to hook up my phone hotspot to the Roku and plug in 2 wires the tv and the Roku into the tv and magic it works great all our tv in one device and thanks to the tv remote features I don’t have to look for 2 remotes it does it all. Roku saves me so much money!!!

I own a Chromecast Ultra, LG OLED with its webOS, TCL w/Roku, and an older Vizio TV with its system. I recently overhauled my garage and moved workout equipment and the old Vizio TV to it so that I could do some workouts with the gyms closed. I hadn't used the Vizio in about 2 years and I hadn't realized how slow the system was; so slow that I went out and bought this Roku SS+. The speed of the stick's system is amazing fast; even slightly faster than the Roku system that is on my TCL TV. I can now jump right into YouTube and start a workout video. I also decided to test it's 4K HDR & Atmos capabilities on my Denon & LG OLED. While it doesn't have Dolby Vision, it does provide me Dolby Atmos on various apps that I don't either get on the webOS or Chromecast Ultra. I also now get Atmos on Disney+ which is a bonus. Because of this, I decided to buy a second stick!

This was the third Roku that I've purchased for my home, and I've been equally pleased with each purchase. Now that many cable companies charge a monthly fee for "cable box rental", it makes sense to seek alternatives, and this one shines above all others. I also have four Chromecasts (for streaming purposes, as I can't stream much to my Roku), but I've found I use the Roku sticks far, far more often. Nearly all of the most recent apps are supported (Cable Provider, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Vudu, YouTube, etc...). Many individual cable channels also have their own apps that are downloadable. The one drawback is that Roku has not worked out a deal with HBOMAX, so I continue to stream that app via my Chromecasts. Outside of that, it's a very valuable stick that I consider an absolute must-have in our home.

So far I'm happy with the Roku stick. My Samsung smart TV starting get slow and laggy. So decided to get a Roku. Got roku ultra first, but kept being warm even not in use. Light was off. So got concerned about getting hot and saw people online talk about this. Got the streaming stick plus and it's awesome. My tv can power through USB. When tv and Roku is off, it's really off, and cool. Gets quite warm (not hot) in use which is ok. Nice it's behind the TV and outta sight. So far speed is fast and works great. Keep in mind the remote button doesn't have Disney plus button. Button have Netflix, HBO now, Google play and Roku tv.

Only downside - the stick requires more power than the USB on our 6 year old samsung tv provides, so we need to plug it in separately (included in box) Other than that, I like the Roku system, pic is great, never a problem with the wireless connection. App uses wifi to talk to stick which also uses wifi. Audio can go to TV or to app headphones (which can be bluetooth to your phone). Different apps for xfinity, hbo, showtime, but this just means a one-time authentication via phone or computer. Other authentications like netflix and amazon are stored so again, it's a one-time setup.

Wanted to lower my just increased cable bill and thought I'd try the Roku streaming stick. I couldn't believe all of the streaming stations that are out there. I can now lower my cable bill by going to basic cable and returning all of my cable boxes. I could even get rid of my cable completely if I wanted to and may do that once I get used to using the Roku streaming stick. I rated the "Ease of Use" a 4 only because I have more learning to do with it but I'm sure I'd rate it a 5 in the end.

I love that this Roku stays behind my tv and doesn't add an extra box to my setup. It works great and I love being able to control volume and power on my TV with my remote. The voice search function is okay but only finds specific things, not "free kids movies" and results are not in a great format. I'm not a huge fan of voice searching, so that doesn't bother me. Also, this one adds the ever-important Disney Plus button. If I could change anything, I would change the Sling button to Prime Video. Then I would have all my big 4 at the press of a button!

I’m not a tech geek by any stretch, but even a dummy like me had no issues with such a simple device. My plan was to finally cut the chord and save $150 a month on my cable bill. The Roku and a subscription to YouTube TV did just that. However, I was surprised at how many free channels are available with just the Roku alone. Pluto TV is one of the free apps that comes with the Roku and is loaded with quality channels. The only caveat that I feel worth mentioning is that streaming devices like the Roku will utilize a lot of data and so an unlimited internet data plan would be a good idea if you watch a lot of television. Best $40 I ever spent!

1st: Do not cancel your internet service! But if you are looking to replace a cable box, this item works great! 2nd: Make sure you have an open or soon to be open after dumping cable box HDMI port with about 3-4 inches of room. 3rd: I recommend plugging Roku into an outlet/strip for power 4th: Roku is probably stronger than your early generation smart TV -- our Vizio kinda works. The Roku always works. Review: While we kept our cable service, the picture and quality were better than what we got our of our coax cable. As long as the WiFi signal is strong there should be no issues.

This Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K is the "sweet spot" of Roku streaming media players in terms of features for price. Adds 4K capability to the Roku Expresses and the Premiere, and keeps the price under $50. The few added features you get with the HE and Ultra's don't justify their premium prices to me. The Roku interface is the "cleanest" and easiest of the various streaming media players in my book, and avoids all the "Amazon push" you get with the Amazon Firestick. And you can take it with you on trips. Hit the "sweet spot" with this Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K!

I'm not a tech genius and was reluctant to "cut the cord". After comparing the. FIREstick, ROKU, I choose ROKU. I'm an older person and thought I would need help to get it going. I DID NOT. it was extremely easy. I went with YOUTUBE TV for live tv and with ROKU I now have hundreds of channels. No more cable boxes to rent and take up space. I now have 4 tvs, all with ROKU and my internet/cable bill is $66 per month LESS. What was I thinking to not have done this sooner ??

The Roku 4K Streaming Stick is by far the easiest to use streaming device on the market. There’s not a lot of filler just thousands of apps ready to use and easy to load. The stick’s response time is quick. The Roku channel makes it easy to subscribe to your favorite channels all in one location to cut out the confusion as to where and which channels you’ve chosen, payment due dates, cancellations and more.

Used the ROKU stick to turn our older HDTVs into smart TVs. Now we have all the opportunities to stream. Even use it on our Smart TVs that don’t support certain streaming channels. Stick can be moved from TV to TV, but at this price, we bought 3, one for each TV. Love the voice feature, too. The only drawback is that they don’t have lighted Numbers when using in lower light situations, but once you get used to the remote, you know where the buttons are.

We recently left DirecTv after many years, and many cost increases! We are now using our local internet provider for our TV viewing; all of our sets are smart, but our Sony sets require the use of a streaming stick. After reviewing the options out there, it became clear to me that Roku was the best option. I went with the 4K stick, so I would have the latest tech, and it was only a few additional dollars. The set up was pretty easy; make sure that you go online to set up your account in advance of attaching the sticks, and you should be good to go! I have been watching some 4K content, and it really looks great!
