This stick takes a while to set up. Hopefully your a roku regular because its all done on a roku site. Its still setting up after 10 minutes of downloading and I have a blazing fast connection/router/etc. I think they could and should have done some of this at the factory. Its auto sensing/connecting to your tv was instant. Didnt have to do a thing. Power and volume is great but on this they even added a mute button. Wish it worked on people, 1 in particular. Anyways its done uploading and setting up. Lots of new themes, last 1 had maybe a couple. Also we can change closed caption size, style, color, opacity, background color and opacity and the window. I only use it on reply or when the mute button doesnt work if you know what I mean but its nice to not have to replay more because I cant read it. Lots of new stuff, certainly worth the $50 they charge, i should have got 2 when it was on sale for 1/2 of that. I got this for a room where 1 had gone bad but have to use it in my tv room because that 1 just went bad. What the heck roku. A few years, ok maybe 10 but still. This one comes with a remote long range wireless reciever and an extension usb. If you need an extention hdmi they will send you 1 free. So either get this 1 or the ultra, dont mess around with the less expensive 1s, its only a few bucks. Also remeber these can go bad so dont buy it used. Watch model #s too because they change as the time goes by but the name can stay the same. Good luck.

I used this to hard wire a steaming player into my Chrysler Pacifica. I was able to use (separately purchased) right angle cables and actually placed the device into the back of the seat. Works wonderfully and remote works great even without LOS.

I would not recommend this product to anyone. I have had nothing but issues with it since I purchased it. Most of the time I have to unplug it from the tv wait for it to reset (this is from their customer support - web only solution) then plug it back in. The remote will then sync and I can watch my shows. Until the next time I have to turn on the tv and I have to start the process all over again. The sales rep at Best Buy advises buying a power strip so the I don’t use the TV which could cause issues. Which I did and I have been using since day one. Forum groups say to disable the screen saver feature ( the issue I am having seems to be a very common one with Not what I thought it was going to be. Terrible customer support system

Apps, Ease of use, Set up

We only have 1 Roku TV, so it was difficult for everyone else to watch Hulu and Disney+ with TV’s that doesn’t have those apps. I decided to get this and it’s basically like having a Roku TV, but way cheaper. It was overall very easy to set up with simple picture instructions. Can also connect to phone which is great because you can change apps, volume, etc. It has Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Disney+, Spotify, there’s also adult swim (free), and much more to choose from. Highly recommend for those that don’t have Smart TV’s that don’t have Hulu and Disney+!

I have over 400 digital copies of movies and some TV episodes also on the Vudu platform and my Amazon Fire Sticks do not have a Vudu app although they do have a Movies Anywhere app but, the MA app only shares certain content due to DMR restrictions apparently, leaving me unable to access approximately 1/2 my digital movies and unable to access ANY of my digital TV. So, as an experiment, I decided to try the Roku and it does have a Vudu app. AND came with a $5 Vudu credit! I sometimes spend the weekend with friends and will bring my Roku stick and can access ALL of my digital movies and TV through Vudu and no longer have to carry stacks of DVDs or Blu-Rays anymore. GREAT for Hotel rooms with Wifi too!! I also have a Netflix and Hulu subscription & the Streaming Stick+ Remote included with the SKU #3810 RW has a dedicated button for Netflix Hulu Vudu and Sling TV and Voice control. The remote can also be used to operate the TV power on and off and volume + and - functions. I like this device so much that I even got a second one with an incredible Black Friday deal!

I am totally satisfied with this product to the point of giving it 4 starts - I also have a Fire stick and the voice control on the Fire stick is much better hence the 4 stars. The Roku supports Dolby DTS surround sound as well as Dolby Atmos and Dolby audio. The Fire stick only supports Dolby Atmos. So I have the Roku on my TV that has surround sound and the Fire stick on the non-surround sound TV. With the Fire stick on the surround system there is no surround sound unless you are watching a broadcast that is out putting Dolby Atmos. This is where the Roku is much better with Dolby DTS, Dolby Audio formats as well as ATMOS. With this you really can cut the TV Cable cord - I would add one more thing with the Roku beware that there is a phone number that may pop up if you need assistance installing the Roku. There are a lot of scammers out there telling new Roku owners that since 2019 Roku is now charging a subscription to use this product and they can offer you a 5 year deal at a discounted price for the subscription - Caligreeks is one of them - Its all BS. if you have a problem with the stick only use the Roku, com web site for any questions no one else. Don't call the number its a scam. THE IS NO ROKU SUBSCRIPTION NEEDED PERIOD.

I had purchased a Sony 43" TV so that I could get the Disney +, Hulu, Netflix and other apps. All the apps worked except the Disney + app. Finally found out after going back and forth from the cable company to Disney+ that Sony does not have the rights to Disney+. I found this out from a very intelligent geek squad person, David. He suggested that I get a Roku stick in order to see Disney+, so I did and now thanks to Roku, I get Disney +. Roku also has all the other apps that my tv does, and what is good is that you can take the Roku to another TV to watch one of the apps. It was fairly easy to set up and I am in no way smart when it comes to setting up electronic anything. It was scary as I was afraid I would miss a step and it wouldn't work but the instructions were very easy to follow and it set up with no problem So if I can do it, then it should be easy enough for others that do not have technical knowledge and are "electronically challenged" as I am to set it up. Glad I got the Roku.

I used to be all about the Fire Stick. I still have them, but I rarely ever use them anymore. Roku is a better experience. Why is it better? My family and my significant other have no issues using it. One button on the Roku Remote turns on my otherwise complicated Home Theater. Voice search allows everyone to find what they are looking for easily. (Almost) all apps are available and work without issue. Compared to the Fire Stick, it's just overall easier to find what I want and watch it. Connect a Roku Soundbar, Speakers, and Sub, and it's everything I would have otherwise spent thousands of dollars on. No need to run wires to those either. Actually, you wouldn't even need this stick if you went that route, a Roku is built into the soundbar! The Roku Channel / Live Streaming Channels actually feel like watching regular tv, something I have not had or paid for in a long time. I've bought a Roku TV as well, and right now those are better because they have Dolby Vision. That is missing on this, and is the only downside. If you are thinking about getting anything Roku, do it. You'll be happy.

If you want features and apps, beyond what your TV provides, or even if your TV doesn't provide them, then get one of these. It works great, and I've never had a complaint against a Roku device. All these other manufacturers, like Sony, Vizio, and Samsung, they put the apps on their TVs as a gimmick, and rarely care more than 6 months out, how they function, or even if they function. They just want to sell you the TV. Once that TV is taken off the market, and a new one put in its place, they could care less if Vudu stops working, or YouTube is buggy. This is why the Roku will always be superior to the TV interfaces. They aren't interested in selling you a TV. Their platform is getting you those apps, and ensuring that the apps continue to work, for the foreseeable future. I often love the apps that are built into my TV, but, for example, my Samsung 82" TV starts having issues playing 4k content from Vudu, after an update. My TV is less than a year old. That's just annoying. I've rarely, if ever, experienced anything like this on a Roku. It just works. In my opinion, these TV manufacturers should just build this into their TVs, and forget about creating their own "ecosystems." Let someone who actually CARES about the quality of the smart entertainment, build the software. What's it going to cost? An extra $10 per TV?

I recently cut the cord completely and went with the Roku. I currently have Firesticks and those work ok, but I wanted to try something different with no affiliations to a particular network. I've had the Roku for about a month and I've had no problems at all with it. The interface is straight forward, the setup was simple. I actually plugged this into the back of the XBox and used the USB port for the power and it worked like a charm. I like the slightly larger remote too. I purchased a bright colored silicone cover for the remote which i recommend because it's much easier to find in the dark than a black remote. The coolest feature is if you want to use headphones to watch tv (like in bed at night), then you can use the Roku app on your phone and listen through your headphone likes normal on there. I totally recommend this if you are looking to cut cords.

It was suggested to try the Roku Stick + in order to avoid leasing another set top box. In combination with the Xfinity streaming app (beta) Channel I saw no reason why I should continue to lease several other set top boxes I have in my home. I was surprised at just how much Xfinity functionality the Roku Stick has. Note, I have Gigabit Cable service and personal routers internal to each floor of my home which allow me to stream seamlessly. However, because Roku is a different procedure and my wife hate change I will keep the set top boxes she uses to prolong our marriage. The Roku has voice control but so far its seems to command the command use of the streaming channels and not calling a channel within a streaming service like Xfinity. Even with that creating Xfinity favorites seems to give me a costless work around. Xfinity's streaming app is listed as a Beta on Roku but works much better than expected. Can't wait for version 1.0 release. PS I purchased 6 and replace 3 set top boxes and added a guest room HDTV to cable service.

As a previous owner of several Roku-enabled smart TVs, this was an addition to one that didn't have Roku features built-in. The instructions were easy-to-follow, and it only took a few minutes to get everything working. Unfortunately our TV didn't have enough power to run the Streaming Stick+ from its USB port (as indicated on-screen and with the flashing LED on the unit itself), so we had to use the supplied AC adapter, which was no big deal. Roku seem to have a solid platform, and plenty of integration with the major networks (CBS All Access, CW, etc.) and streaming providers (Netflix, AppleTV), so there is plenty of content for us to watch. The biggest hassle with this was trying to activate the 2-month free Philo trial. For some reason we couldn't access it on-screen or via the Roku or Philo websites. I guess their computers didn't want to talk nicely to one another. We had to log a ticket with customer support to fix this, which took about a week.
