Customers have good things to say about the Ultra Streaming Device's ease of use, picture quality, and remote control. Many appreciate the inclusion of a headphone jack and Dolby Vision, along with the device's 4K capabilities and smooth performance. The user-friendly interface and straightforward setup are also frequently praised. A common concern, however, centers around the remote's battery life.

Have always been a Roku fan for the simplicity of design, the popularity of the ecosystem (by most measure still the most popular) and this little hub being a speedy little gateway to it all. Important to me was the ethernet jack since whenever possible, I like to hardwire versus deal with wireless since it's bulletproof -- but there's great wifi support should you either not be wired for it. Also, it's got Toslink for fiber optic surround support for older receivers, but is still fully 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision compliant and all the bells and whistles.
Honestly, can't wait to see what the next brings. Maybe gigabit ethernet - even though it's not really necessary. Likely Wifi 6 (or 7). Maybe WPA3. And definitely the latest chipset for speed and richness of UI. But truly, this satisfies the techie in me equally with the ability for even my parents to understand it. Great design.

This version of the Ultra is considerable faster than the previous model. This model brings support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. The biggest improvement in the Ultra 2020 is the remote itself. It features a sound control rocker with a mute button and has voice search. It also has four quick access applications: Sling, Hulu, Netflix and Disney+. Additionally, it has two programmable buttons, which I used for quick access to You Tube and Prime Video. Set up and customization is a breeze. Bottom line - the Roku does everything I want and more.

We have had good past experience with the Roku Ultra and Streaming Stick+, so when we wanted to add another Roku on our downstairs TV we moved the older Roku Ultra to that TV and got a new Roku Ultra which can handle 4K and Dolby Atmos for the TV we watch most. The price for the Ultra was reasonable when on sale and this way we should be set up for high resolution and high quality sound when we upgrade our TV. Since I now mostly work from home, having a remote where my wife can plug in a headset to keep things quiet while I work is really a benefit. Very easy to set up and have had no problems with it. Using the headphones with the remote does drain its batteries a little more quickly than without the headphones, but we use rechargeable AA batteries and it is not a problem. The rechargeable batteries have paid for themselves multiple times over.

We bought this for our Sony a80j OLED. It comes with Google TV built in but 1. It isn't great and is sometimes sluggish and 2. We have Roku devices in our home already so it made it easy for everyone to navigate.
This is one of the highest end Roku devices you can get. It has all the extras on it with 4K HDR and Dolby Vision. The voice remote is nice and never fails. The battery in the remote will drain semi quickly if you use it a bunch with headphones but it is easy enough to swap them. *Newer models may include a rechargeable remote but this one does not.
We have not experienced any slow down with this device since owning it May of 22'. There was no issue pairing it with our TV or sound bar either.
The remote has two additional hot keys you can set to any app you want giving you a total of 6 app launching icons.

Probably the best value streaming device around (does some things better than my Shield Pro). Frame rate matching works really well. 4k, DV, HDR all incredible. Easy interface. Pretty snappy. At 80 dollars, it's a great deal. Goes on sale regularly.

Fast and Great for Dolby Atmos

I recently bought a Sonos Arc and honestly thought I couldn’t get Dolby Atmos since my TV doesn’t have an eARC input vs a ARC input. If you have an Apple TV that is the case since they force you to use high bandwidth Atmos where the Roku will work over ARC since they do the lower bandwidth Atmos but it still sounds great. So I bought this Roku Ultra and it’s just as fast and can do Atmos without me having to buy a new TV. The Samsung TV smart apps are limited to each app supporting it and in my case only Prime would work where the Roku will work with more apps. I was also surprised you can output all audio in Atmos if you choose. So I’m pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend it. The remote is also easier to use and figure our for kids/grandparents and consolidates it all to 1 remote with power/volume buttons included.

Set up was kinda easy,as long as I had all my emails and passwords for the subscriptions, but the remote works great. And voice lookup is actually fun and easy, using it a lot.

Forget "smart" TVs that have slow-loading crappy software (e.g. Samsung), always seem to be missing at least one streaming service you want (e.g. all of them), and lose support a few years after you buy the TV (I'm looking at you, LG). Roku is the simple, dependable, intuitive solution I used to dream about. When we cut the cord, we did it with the Roku and have never wanted for a streaming service...pretty much everything is available through Roku. The interface is my absolute favorite compared to the options I've used on smart TVs and other streaming devices (i.e. blu ray players, Fire stick).
As for the Ultra model itself, I love having a wired connection option (in addition to wifi), the weightier remote, no line-of-sight requirement between remote and roku, and the invaluable remote finder option. The only issues I've had are that on occasion the remote seems to get a little confused (e.g. hit volume down and it goes up, or doesn't stop when you release the volume control, or you hit a button and it randomly launches Hulu, etc.)...but this usually corrects itself right away or is fixed by popping out the battery and reinserting (rebooting the remote). Those anomalies happen infrequently and are just minor annoyances when compared to everything the Roku Ultra offers, so this is still bar none the best option I've found for complete, intuitive, and reliable streaming.

I've had this Roku Ultra a few days now. I bought it to replace an older Roku Express where the wifi would not stay connected. This model has both wifi and wired, so if the wireless ever stops working, I can continue to use it. My tv is currently only a 1080p, but this model works great on it. The performance feels snappier, and I think the picture quality is a bit better. I will most likely buy another at some point to replace my fire stick as I like the Roku interface better.
The included remote is bluetooth, but the unit will still work with universal remotes. I did not have to change the programming in my remote to get it to work with the ultra model.

2020 Roku Ultra

I get every generation of the Roku Ultra. This 2020 model purchased at Best Buy has a more powerful quad core processor than the 2019 model that allows faster channel selection and app loading. This unit offers superior picture quality for the latest generation Samsung and Sony high end 4K/8K tvs. The remote is typical Roku style and incorporates 4-quick select buttons for Netflix, Disney +, Hulu, and Sling TV. You will be happy with the 2020 model! But the boxes for the 2019 and 2020 are similar so make sure you pick the newer model which features the Bluetooth capability and the Dolby Vision and Atmos sound options. P.S. The WiFi has a better chip which increases the range!

I've tried Amazon, Apple TV, Google TV, and Roku, and find Roku the easiest to use by far. The remote is simple and well-designed, and the interface is much less "busy" and complicated than all the other services.
I own both a Roku Streaming Stick+ and an Ultra. For most people with fast WiFi, the Streaming Stick+ (it's WiFi only) is probably the better choice. It is normally half the price of the Ultra, and I don't notice the difference day-to-day.
The Ultra has a slightly better remote that lets you program a couple of shortcuts and plug in wired headphones but I don't use those features myself.
Also, if you're technically savvy, you can use the Roku app to send the audio to your phone, and then stream it to wireless headphones. I've done this on iOS and it works really well. So that's one more reason I don't miss the wired headphones support on the cheaper Streaming Stick+.

First time Roku buyer and user. The hype is real and well-deserved.
Easy to unbox.
Easy to install.
Easy to use.
An overwhelming amount of free program apps available.
I would definitely invest in a great HDMI cable. I did a comparison on my tv and the better quality cable makes a big difference.
I take it with me on the road. There are easy to follow directions to establish connectivity when in a hotel.
I love this product.
I bought it on sale at a great price but even at an affordable regular price, it exceeds expectations and is worth it.

Roku has stepped up their game with the upgrade to 4K, Dolby Vision, upscaling of audio that meets my needs for home theater. I thought the former Roku Ultra was very good (it was my first streaming device for home theater). However, the new Roku Ultra is several stages higher and better than the former. Best yet, it’s $99-$109 cost is much less than an unnamed popular 4K streaming device. Even at full price is more bang for your buck but catch it on sale and there’s even more bang for your buck. I highly recommend the NEW Roku Ultra.

This is a great streaming media player. It greatly expands my viewing capabilities. I mainly purchased this for Apple tv+ but gained so much more. There are a lot of apps on this and all with great picture and sound. The picture and audio quality of this Roku are fantastic. Picture is Dolby Vision and audio is Dolby Atmos. Setup is quick and easy plus it's so easy to use.
I had questions about a free offer that came with this unit and contacted Roku customer service and received a response in 3 hours. That is unheard of anywhere else.

I've been using the new ROKU Ultra for a bit less then a month. So far it's been working quite well. The available content is impressive and I no longer have the RCN cable with all their fees and taxes. I'm using their cable modem service for internet, which I already had anyway, so I'm saving quite a bit of money not having cable TV. It takes a little getting used to in that there's a bit more hunting for channels but it's not a problem since I'm saving a fair amount of money....over a years time it adds up to over $1K!! There's a lot of free content available, and for me? That's more then enough for my entertainment purposes. There are available paid/subscription programming as well if you need more. The unit was very easy to install and connected to either wifi or direct wired ethernet. They supply an HDMI cable as well as ear buds that connect to the remote for private listening. My Panasonic plasma tv is only 1080HD but with this ROKU it's 4K with Dolby Vision capable so I'm set if I decide to upgrade my TV. About my only complaint is the layout of the remote and some of the buttons and their placement, like the volume buttons on the side that are very easy to hit when you grab the remote. The preset buttons are great.....if you actually use those services. It would be better if you could have more of your own favorites to select but I guess ROKU makes some profit from the companies ...Netflix, hulu, sling, and Disney+....that are pre-programmed on the remote. Not a problem, just don't use them if you don't subscribe to them. Overall? It's a good deal, especially with the current sale price of $69.99!! I was able to get a price match to the lower price since I paid the regular price when I purchased it at the end of October. Thanks Best Buy!!

2020 Roku Ultra - Great Features & Performance

The latest Roku Ultra is faster and with better picture quality than the prior model. If you want a high end Media Player model, this is it.
The big news is the 2020 Ultra Model can stream Dolby Vision in addition to 4k HDR.
This model also supports Dolby Atmos Surround Sound.
There are many other features, like voice control and Bluetooth.
The remote is easy to use, unlike the remote with the Apple TV Plus .
I own the prior Roku Ultra and Apple TV Plus.
The 2020 Roku Ultra is my favored streaming device.
