Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this spot cleaner after I returned a Bissel that leaked all over and didn't suck up any of the water and solution. Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a surprisingly powerful little machine. It has excellent suction, and it's very easy to use. My only "complaint" is that the machine sometimes sends out a fine mist from the back of the machine when the machine is engaged in good suction. Not really a big deal, but just be aware if you're working around wood furniture, floors, etc.

Great for my family full of kids!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner to facilitate my review, but trust me, my thoughts and experiences are all true. I have 4 kids, with the youngest being a very messy and naughty 2 year old. We constantly have to clean up after him. Even though we just moved into our house about 14 months ago, the carpets have really taken a beating. I have spent hours cleaning it after he's gotten into anything from markers to colored bath soaps to makeup to pens and more. He can be gone for 3 minutes and create a mess that takes me 45 minutes to attempt to clean. Sadly, there are tons of old stains because of his little adventures and I'd frankly given up hope. One particularly peaceful Sunday, he decided to smear cream eye shadow all over my daughter's floor. As usual, I scrubbed it with a spray cleaner and a rag for 30 minutes before remembering that I'd received the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner. I quickly ran down stairs and started putting it together. It took me a few minutes to read through the instructions and get the clean water tank filled with hot water and the cleaning solution included in the package. The sprayer mechanism was very easy to use and covered a large area. I used the rotating brushes to really scrub the cleaning solution and water into the stain before using the vacuum part to suck it up. I went over the stained area twice, sucked up the excess water, and was amazed at the results. It really took away that obnoxious black stain from my light beige carpet AND the vacuum sucked up all of that excess water. (I've used wet vac type products in the past that left my carpet really damp afterward, but the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner really got rid of all the excess water!) Since this incident, I have used this a few other times and have always been pleased with the results. I am so glad to have it in my utility room, just waiting to clean up after my toddler. I've also used it on my stairs and it has made a huge difference in how nice they look. The clean and dirty water tanks are easy to care for. The rotating bristles work well for getting out ground-in stains. I'm in love!

Perfect For Moms In Small Spaces
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this product to review. All opinions are my own. We live in an apartment with carpet only in the two bedrooms. Although I make everyone take off their shoes before going in the bedrooms, the carpet still gets spots on it. The reason? My 5 year old daughter LOVES crayons. And paint. And markers. And basically anything else that will make a mess on the floor! I don't get upset about it, I mean, I get it. She's a kid and that's what kids do, but I really needed a solution to the scrubbing on my hands and knees to get spots out. Not only was it a pain to do, but it really ruins the fiber of the carpet to scrub it that much. Fortunately, I have the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner now. It's perfect for our family for a number of reasons. First, because we're in an apartment, we need something that can store easily. The retractable handle, and slim design makes the Rug Doctor easier to put away in the closet than I imagine another spot cleaner would be. The other reason it's perfect for our family is because we don't have a lot of space that needs to be cleaned, but the space we have needs to be cleaned often. I imagine that I'll be going in my daughter's room once every couple of weeks to clean up spots, so a lightweight machine that transports easily will come in really handy for me. Overall, I'd recommend the Rug Doctor. I used it to clean up both crayon AND marker the other day, and it worked like a charm. ESPECIALLY if you have a smaller place, this is the only carpet cleaner you need.

Fantastic Family Household Saver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I tried the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner on some old spots of set-in globs of unidentifiable something from our shoes around the house. We had a couple of black spots of something and one red spot in the bedroom beside our shoes as well as a grey and somewhat sticky spot of something in the living room. These spots had been on the carpet for several weeks now and I wasn’t sure the Rug Doctor could handle them. However, I gave it a go anyways (we are renting an apartment and I didn’t want to leave those spots behind when we move). After following the super easy steps to get the Portable Spot Cleaner going, I first attempted the black and red splotches in the bedroom. After one go at them, I could see a difference. I did go over the spots a few times, just for good measure. Now, you can’t even tell there was anything there. In fact, I had my boyfriend look at the area when he came home from work and he couldn’t even tell where to look as he couldn’t remember the exact spot where the dots where! Additionally, the spot in the living room came out cleanly as well. I’m very happy with the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner as it gets out stains that a normal vacuum cleaner can’t do anything with. Plus, it’s small and easy to move about the apartment with. Now, I don’t worry about accidents and spills as much because I know this thing can handle them.

Wow, great cleaner. Great for pets.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My mom bought this and didn't like it. She said it, leaked and made a mess so after only using it once gave it to me. Well, I don't know what she was doing or did to make it leak but I have not had that problem . Also she said the waste water got everywhere, again I did not have that problem. Works extremely well with my puppies accidents, just made sure to buy a deodorizing pet concentrate and applied it to stain with trigger spray bottle at a slightly higher concentration then recommended. Just used the rug doctor traffic and pet shampoo I had left over from my last rental in the machine. Plus I got a full bottle from my mom. When done ran about 4 oz of water with 1 oz concentrate through the machine a few times so it didn't possibly smell like wet urine and dog later. No worries, checked it later that evening and faintly smelled the shampoo. The dog doesn't seem to like putting his nose to the clean spots so he will just head right out the dog door instead of looking for his marked spot which are now outside on the foliage.

A must for anybody with kids
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. As a mother of 5 boys I typically clean all of our carpets on a yearly basis. However, there are those times when a mysterious spot just appears. None of the kids will cop to it, but there's definitely a carpet spot. I was excited to use this machine on what looked like a muddy boot print on the hallway carpet. When the machine arrived, it was super easy to set up. The instructions are simple and the entire set up took just a few minutes. The small size of the machine makes it easy to transport and store! After setting up the machine I got to work on stain. It took a couple of passes with the handy rotating brush but the entire spot was lifted and the carpet looked like new! The only thing I'd change about this machine is that it's sort of loud. This is the perfect machine for those times when you don't want / need or can afford an entire carpet cleaning. It's perfect for spills, stains and just freshening up the high traffic areas all homes seem to have. As an added bonus I loved the spot cleaning solution that came with the machine - it works very well and smells good too. I highly recommend the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner to everyone - its worth every penny and more!

Works Like a Charm!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Last year, we moved into a townhouse. After living in an apartment for several years, I was thrilled with the extra space, the backyard, and all the other amenities. The only drawback? The stained carpet. My house was formerly inhabited by four bachelors right out of college - need I say more? We tried everything from professional carpet cleaners to name-brand stain removers to remove the soda spills, grease stains, and mysterious black spots. I had varying levels of success; but I was still left with a floor that made me cringe as I walked past. By this point, I was willing to try anything. So, when the Rug Portable Spot Cleaner arrived on my doorstep, I excitedly tried it out. It was quite easy to assemble and start cleaning my stains, a huge plus when you have your child's limited naptime to work! Since many of the stains are concentrated on my stairs, I was really happy that the Rug Portable Spot Cleaner fit perfectly on one step. That way, the machine didn't wobble or ominously lean as I deep cleaned. I also loved the long power cord – I didn't have to continually move the plug as I went further up the stairs. It didn't remove all my pesky stains; but many of them faded significantly. And, I'm hoping that if I use the machine every few weeks, it will eventually eradicate them completely! Disclosure: I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Great For Busy Households
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. Our house is on a country dirt road and quite frankly there isn't anything that would keep the floors spotless. The hardwoods ALWAYS need to be swept and the carpets are quick to stain with mud and dirt, let alone kool-aid from the kids. The Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner is extremely portable and easy to use. It handles all our day-to-day needs and it is quite simple to figure out. There is no complicated set-up necessary. The handle makes it easy to bring along on wheels and it retracts so as not to take up a lot of space. This is an added bonus in my opinion. If you need a spot remover for your carpets, this is a great one at a reasonable price. If it does the job for our family with the boys running in and out and bringing in their kayaks onto the livingroom rug it should hold up anywhere. Note: Although I give it 5-stars I would have chose 4.5 because there was no cleaning solution included and I had to run to the store to pick it up. Fortunately nearly every grocery store in our area and Walmart carry the brand.

So much better than Bissell
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for an alternative to Bissell for a very long time. I have purchased their spot cleaner for the last 5 years. I have purchased two because they break down after about 1-2 years - right after the warranty. First the heating element would break and then the nozzle would stop spraying water and then the suction would stop...This product has a much stronger suction that two I have purchased in the past. Turning on the brush head does not reduce the suction like the Bissell. It appears that the brush head uses an electrical powered brush head. The Bissell uses part of the suction to move the brush head. The suction is very strong and makes cleanups on carpet very fast. Seems sturdy and most importantly the motor appears strong. Something that should be good for longevity. Just in case, I bought a 4 year extended warranty.

Great Product! Cleans Great, Compact
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. My husband and I were very excited to received our new Rug Doctor. At first, I was wondering if the compact spot cleaner would be able to get our mammoth carpet jobs done, but this product far exceeded our expectations. We have four kids. Three of these kids are younger boys, and one is a teenage girls. When we moved into our home two years ago, our carpets were pristine because the previous owners did not have any kids. That didn't last long. Anything and everything that can be dropped, spilled, wiped, or spewed onto this carpet has been, and up until now, I've done my best to get down on my hands and knees and scrub. I was absolutely amazed when a stain (from a year and a half old "spew" - I'll spare the details) came up within minutes with the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner. Then, across the room, we made huge progress on getting up a red energy drink spill (more like purposely dumped by a 2 year old). It's no longer bright red! With just one treatment, it has faded to light pink. We're going to try again soon, and we're hopefully that the stain will eventually be so light that it will not be seen. I love that the spot cleaner is so portable, that we took it out to the carport and used it on the uphosltery in our car. The previous owner of our car was a smoker, and when water is spilled or dripped onto the seats, it leave a soot/smoke ring that makes us look pretty trashy! After using the spot cleaner on the seats for about 30-45 minutes, there was a noticeable difference, and no longer smell pungent cigarette smoke odors when we turn on the A/C now! The Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner is light weight, it's fun to use, an the cleaner that comes with it knows how to do it's job. I really like the fact that even though it uses water/cleaner to get the carpet and upholstery clean, it also sucks the majority of the moisture back into the holding tank so that you're not left with soaking wet floors. The dry time is pretty quick. My favorite features: - Size: The system is so compact that it's easy to use and easy to store. HUGE plus with a large family in a small house! - Portable on Wheels: I love the "luggage" like retractable handle where I can pull the Rug Doctor around the room or carport without having to bend over and pick it up. - Scrubber: The scrubber works great, but what's best about it is that part of it can be turned on to give a motorized scrub while cleaning. - Ease of Use: The system is so easy to use that we can put our 7 year old to work on the carpets and we don't even have to lift a finger. - Cleanup: My husband likes that there is a filter to grab larger particles so you can dump the dirty water directly down the sink. So easy. All in all, we have already recommended this product to our friends and family, and we will continue to do so. The price is great, and it's much better than having to rent clunky cleaners! Great product, Rug Doctor!

Impressive Little Machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I recently received the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner while I was out of town, and upon arrival I was so excited to use it. First thing I noticed was how compact it was, with everything you need all together and easy to reach. I LOVE that it's portable and not a big heavy machine to lug around. BUT Don't let the small size surprise you, it's packed full of steam cleaning power. It came with cleaning solution too, which was great, so I didn't have to run out and get some. I have two daughters (who are just as messy as boys) and a husband who are always making messes, spilling drinks, tracking in mud, dirt, and whatever else may stick to their shoes like a magnet. Our bedroom carpet by the door way was awful with stains. I had used carpet cleaner in the past and nothing seemed to work, so I wasn't sure that this little machine would either, but I was wrong! I love that this machine was easy to move around, it has wheels and a telescoping handle. I also love that the vacuum nozzle was clear too, you could see what you were sucking up while doing some spot cleaning on your carpet. All of the dirty, stained spots we had in the entry way to our bedroom are now completely gone thanks to the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend. Save yourself some time from scrubbing on your hands and knees with those spray foam cleaners that don't work, and just buy this product!

Second day the spray nozzle became defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was thrilled to finally get this portable steam cleaner after reviewing other reviews. Did really well for small area with provided 8oz sample cleaner. I did not like the short hose and hard plastic feel to the hose. Made a mistake of over filling the waste water tank and leaked onto the carpet from bottom, just small drops of dirty water. Empty line on waste water tank is at the middle, and hard to see. All in all, satisfied till next day, the spray nozzle became defective! Started to shoot just 3 stream, one to far left, center and one to far right. I babied this cleaner, cleaning it afterwards and wiping down the equipment so it wasn't due to mishandling or other.

Average for cleaning. Convenient to use.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Expectedly this is not a machine for large areas or difficult stains. But for general cleaning of smaller areas this fits the bill. Construction seems solid, slightly noisy, easy to roll around on wheels.

Too difficult to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received a Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner sample to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. I used the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner for the dozen mystery spots that appear on my wall-to-wall carpet every day. What I liked about it is that the suction is good and it does clean some stains. What I don't like about it is: It does not clean all stains; some stains it lightens by varying degrees but does not remove even after repeated passes. All set-in stains were only slightly lightened, not removed. It's heavy and bulky. I can't move it around myself, even though I have a low-pile carpet, because the little wheels dig in and won't budge; I have to have my husband bring it out for me. (I am tall, and not elderly or disabled in any way.) It takes too long to set up. Long before we have it ready to work, I could have sprayed cleaner on the stain and wiped it up. It is eardrum-shatteringly loud to use, especially in a small room, because your head has to be near the motor; I would not recommend using it without earplugs. The brushes area of the cleaning head is poorly designed. It looks like there are a lot of scrubbing bristles, but most of them are stationary; only one row actually scrubs, so you're maneuvering this big head around with only one row of bristles actually doing anything. The "pull handle" is very hard to get out, and sticks repeatedly when I try to fully extend it. The water tanks can be tricky to remove; if you don't pull them at the right angle, they won't budge. My husband is a big man, and he has struggled to remove the tanks. In addition, even with average fingernails for a woman, I found that the indentations around the handles are not deep enough for me to get my fingers in there and grab the handles; I am completely unable to remove the tanks. I'd suggest testing before you buy to be sure that you'll be able to do it. The water-spraying function is where this product totally fails for me. You have to hold a button down to get the water to come out; there is no way to make it stay down without holding it. I have hands as big as a man's, and I could barely hold the button down and move the cleaning head over the rug at the same time; my finger slips off after a couple of seconds, so I have to keep stopping and re-positioning my hand in order to keep the water flowing. For anything other than a tiny stain, this is a real pain. My husband's hands are stronger, and he can do it the way it's supposed to work, but unless we find a way to strap the button down I won't be able to use the this product myself without more struggle than it's worth. The Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner does not clean better than any other method, and not as well as simple hand-cleaning. It is so hard to use that I am unable to use it by myself. I do not recommend this product.

Worst carpet cleaner for pets!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you ate buying this to clean up your puppies mess look else where. This thing is horrible. After a week it smells horrible can't get rid of the smell from the vacuum where it blows air out from the back. I have contact rug doctor. And they suggested to run cleaner through it. I did that and every time after use I run a good amount of hot water through it but the horrible smell of urine is still there. The dirty waste water part is the worst. When u take it off it leaks. So nasty waste water gets every where. I think this is a waste of money if your looking for this for pets.
