I’ve used this on my white carpet 2 or 3 times. Very easy to use. I’ve also loaned it out to friends with great feedback. Well worth the cost.

I have had this carpet cleaner for a couple of years now. I used it a couple of times at my old before moving to my new house that has tile floors. We used it a couple of times to clean the couch before the hand tool quit working. The last time I used it I was cleaning the carpet in a closet when the waste tank shattered do to the suction. It did work good in the beginning just to many bugs.

So I currently rent and as anybody knows that rents, more often than not the carpet is a light color and not the greatest quality. It makes sense. So with our off-white carpet is a lot of stains from spills or just tracking in debris in a city that rains A LOT! I was tossing around the idea of renting a Rug Doctor or just buying a Bissell carpet shampooer. I have had 2 different Bissell and a Hoover shampooer in the past. The Bissell worked great! I knew that is what I wanted. Not wanting to spend the cash right now I decided to just rent a Rug Doctor from the store. After seeing what it cost to rent, and having the 24 hour time limit for it, I decided I would just suck it up and buy it. Ill just make payments on my college tuition this semester. I researched the Rug Doctor Deep Clean for about a week. Reading reviews from multiple sites, watching videos, and most importantly looking for the cheapest price so I could price match with Best Buy. Save money AND get reward points. Well turns out Best Buy still had the cheapest one I could find so it worked out anyway. Anyway, back to the machine. I read a lot of reviews on how good it cleaned. I also read some bad reviews on the tank leaking and the fact that the tanks are small. I weighed the pros and cons and decided to buy one. There is always the return policy if it didn't meet all the hype. Here is where I became a believer...
Upon opening the box it was ready to go. Really. I didn't have to assemble one part. I took off the shrink wrap and filled the tanks. I looked for flimsy or cheap parts and there really isn't any.
The tanks are very easily labeled and the lid to the fresh water tank has a built in cap that serves as a measuring cup for solution. I thought that was very cool. Everything on the machine is labeled and you really don't have to do much. The dirty water tank doesn't have a lot of hard to reach crevices in it either where some machines collect dirt that you can't get out. A simple rinse and it looked brand new again. I will say that it does leak a little water if you fill the clean water tank with HOT water. I mean the heat is going to expand and I guess it has to go somewhere. It seemed to get a lot better the more I filled it. I spilled a little my first 2 times and it didn't seem to happen anymore after that. My water get VERY hot so I just turned it down a little. Also, the tanks are small. I live in a small apartment so it doesn't bother me, but a large house would get kind of annoying after awhile. Once you see how it cleans though, you won't care. And it is super easy to fill/empty the tanks.
So there I was. I mixed the solution and fired it up! It took a few trigger pulls to get the solution though the hoses to the floor but once it did it actually performed beautifully. It was easy, not as loud as my Bissell, the water was constant, and best of all it sucks up about 70% of the water you spray. The carpets are damp, but they dried in about an hour or two. The tanks may be different sizes also, so lets say the 70% figure I gave may not be that accurate.
I did one pass with the shampoo and then one pass with just water to rinse. I did notice that I was going though a lot of solution. I was going slow like I had to with my old Bissell. I sped up my pace and I covered a lot more carpet per tank and it still cleaned as good. I did half my living room and the results were night and day. Just a simple shampoo and rinse. In fact I don't even know if I needed the rinse. I'm kinda weird and didn't want any shampoo on the carpet so I rinsed anyway. I could visually see the difference. I do not even have pets or anything. Just tracking in stuff.
After ordering some take-out (shopping makes you hungry) I finished the living room. This is where I really became a believer. All the spots, GONE! Like seriously looks like new carpet. I actually tried to find a stain or dirt or anything. I could not believe it. I figured people just exaggerated in the reviews. By the way, how do you get free stuff to write reviews? I always see people post that they received a free product in exchange for a review. I want to do that! If you are a company reading this, send me free stuff. I'll tell you all about what I think.
So anyways... There is this brush on the bottom that goes back and forth before hitting the roller. It is supposed to clean all sides of the carpet. I figures it was this cheap addition they added to have another selling point and jack the price up. Well turns out that little brush works. The carpet is so soft. I didn't care if it was still wet. I kept walking back and forth because I couldn't believe it. I even made my roommate fell it. He thought I was crazy. He also couldn't believe how well it cleaned. His next words were "Can I borrow that to do my room?"
To recap, this machine works better than I ever expected it to. Will it break it a few months or years from now? I don't know. I bought the $25 2-year warranty from Best Buy if it does. All I know is that I never expected to get excited over carpet shampooing and this machine has done just that for me. Buy one. Buy one for a friend. Heck, buy me another one. Its worth it. Actually buy some shampoo. It comes with 9oz of solution which is 3 tanks. The provided sample solution is what I used so I can only image what their more expensive bottles do.

Works really well, especially on pet messes. I've used the big blue Rug Doctor many times and I'd say it still works better and definitely has a larger tank, but this one is great for the price and takes up a bit less space. It's also waaay less awkward to empty and refill. The bigger one kills your back after a while of lugging the heavy tank to empty and refill it. This one also has clear parts so you can easily rinse out and sort pet hair if it gets in. I've owned a Bissel and a Hoover steam cleaner that broke after a short time and just weren't that effective. Granted, this machine was over $100 more, but it's worth it not having to replace it after a year and actually having a clean carpet after one use. My one complaint is the position of the handle. Unless you're over 6' (and I'm not a short woman at 5'8) it's too tall and awkward. Rug Doctors aren't supposed to tilt back while you use them like a vacuum would, so it can be uncomfortable to try and drag it with the handle so high. Unless it's got a feature I'm missing that allows release and tilt of the handle while the actual cleaner stays upright, it's a bit of a glaring design flaw. Still a fantastic buy that I couldn't get by without and Best Buy shipped it super quickly.

I gave this cleaner 4 stars because it gets the job done! The only down side is that the tank is very small, so it takes more time then the average size rug Doctor. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. However if I was to buy another I would have gone with the full size commercial cleaner.

We have used several carpet cleaning systems. This Rug Doctorr model is by far the best one that we have used. It has incredible suction and is easy to take apart and put together. The only downside is that it is quite tricky to maneuver. And you only can pull it backwards to clean. But it will turn your dirtiest carpets in to clean carpets. We are really happy with our purchase.

I have 3 large female dogs. In the winter, they tend to have repeated accidents in the house. I've owned a number of competing brands (Hoover, Bissel, etc.) all in the $200-$300 range. They only seemed to do the job when I could clean the stains immediately. I have had stains for years now that could never come out, despite numerous treatments, even using Urine Destroyer to try to break it down. The reviews on the Rug Doctor sounded promising. I will admit that only being able to pull backwards with the machine was a little strange at first, but whatever the change is in their manufacturing process, I have to say it works. I tried the stains in my living room carpet that were several years old and virtually every one of them disappeared completely and have not come back (with other machines, they might fade for a few days, then mysteriously resurface). I also found the price $10 less on Amazon and they credited me the difference. I'm very happy with this one!

Out of the box, the Rug Doctor - Upright Deep Cleaner was easy to assemble, only a few parts to attach. Next step was filling it with the cleaning solution. I was concerned when I first saw how small the holding tanks are, about a gallon in size I estimate. I thought that it would not last very long and I would spend more time filling and emptying the tanks than I would on cleaning the carpet. This was not the case. I cleaned the carpet in my media room, room size is about 14'x20', and I still had over one half of the tank left. I really can not accurately report on how well the carpet was cleaned, the water in the return tank was cloudy but we had just cleaned that carpet two weeks prior to getting this Rug Doctor. I will reserve judgement on this to a later date but so far I am satisfied with this purchase.

This product is everything it says it is; great! I paid a professional company to clean my carpet and I was not satisfied. I bought this product with skepticism to see if I could get better results, and guess what? I got better results even right after I paid a lot of cash for stem extraction and citrus treatment. This Rug Doctor machine is the best. I was even motivated to clean all the upholstery around the house with great results!! See the photo I include of the improved carpet cleaning even after the professionals were done with my carpet.

This thing works great. Better than my last two Hoover Scrub whatevers. Worked in Rug Doctor stain remover on some some stains and it took them out and the rest of the carpet is so much cleaner than it's ever been. After each use I completely rinse out the wastewater tank and hose out the brush area so there are no dirt or hairs trapped.

I have worked in the cleaning profession for over 30 years. I never had carpeting until I recently moved to a fully carpeted apartment. I did a lot of research online and visiting many stores, talking to salesman. I am completely satisfied with this machine. I particularly like that it folds fairly compact for easy storage in the bottom of my small hallway closet, and that it so thoroughly extracts the moisture leaving the carpet nearly dry. I was far from excited about the cleanliness after using the shampoo that came with the machine. 2 days later I mixed up my own "shampoo" and did the same area of carpet again. This time it was very clean and fresh. I have cats and dogs and the hair and vomit accidents are a forever problem. I believe I will become best of friends with my new rug doctor.

I have owned other brands but this is by far the best. Easy to operate, cleans the carpet extremely well and so easy to clean after use. The water reservoir isn't the soft plastic which makes for long life.

I have bought over the years, 4 other rug cleaners from other companies all promising great results. I have 2 very large and hair dogs no matter how hard I cleaned them after using they started to loose power. They all left too much water on the carpet no matter how many times I went over them. The Rug doctor using its own brand of soap leaves a clean scent not some masked scent the others leave behind. The suction is so strong the carpets dry in no time, and the fact that clean water does not mix in the same compartment as dirty water makes changing both easy and fast. And the design lets you clean everything leaving nothing behind.Since getting the Rug Doctor I have cleaned over 10 carpets with great results the 10 one just as clean as the 1st one when I took it out of the box. If you have dogs and dirty carpets I recommend the Rug Doctor,

Best carpet cleaner I have ever bought. Cleans great and pulls alot of the water out of the carpet, unlike other machines I've owned. Has a long cord so you can go a longer time without moving the plug. When finished, it is easy to clean. It has large openings to get inside and get it really clean. Every cleaner I've had before I couldn't get the pet fur and hair out of the small openings. Only drawback to this machine is it is bulky, but the way it cleans makes up for that.

I had a bissell proheat 2x and I'm glad I got the protection plan, after about a year it started to not work good so I brought it back to Best Buy and they gave me a gift card to replace it and for about $40 more I though I would give this rug Doctor a try, after using it it's awesome easy to use, the waste water and clean water containers are separate which is a plus and no water bag,FYI the water bag on my old bissell kind of melted an shrank, I'll see how long this doctor will last I was to late to buy protection so I'm hoping the unit will last a long time remember Best Buy does price match I payed 231.99 thanks

This product is EXCELLENT!! It's light weight, and easy enough to use without even having to read the instructions. I live in the Florida woods, where it's impossible to keep sand and dirt out of the house. I also have four dogs that live inside, and I have light colored carpeting, so it doesn't take long for my carpets to turn grey and disgusting. This product did a remarkable job of getting them back to their original color, and texture. I love it, and won't use anything else!

Bought this as a replacement for my 15 year old square blue Rug Dr. This model has many upgrades most importantly the water fill and dirty water collection.
Cleans excellent and easy to use.
