Rune Factory 4 Special is great! It's a game in which its storyline mixes rpg monster fighting, quests, farming (not the main point of game), festivals, and romantic interests. It's practically the same as the previous 3DS version just with a new Newlywed mode and difficulty level. (I may be forgetting something else but that's all I can remember that was different) As always the game is visually stunning with its art style. I love the characters and the town. Overall it's a fun game to leisurely play. If you played and enjoyed Story of Seasons (Original Harvest Moon) and Stardew Valley, you should give this game a try! If you never played neither or any Rune Factory games, you should still give it a try, you'll enjoy it! Also, yes this is the physical game. Fun Fact: The very first Rune Factory game : Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon was a spin-off of Harvest Moon. However, Rune Factory 1-4 are its own independent game. They just have similar things like the farming, festivals and bachelors/bachelorettes.

Arrived early and in excellent condition. The game itself is great; if you are a fan of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or Stardew Valley, you would like this one. This is basically an upgrade to the original RF4 with better graphics and additional modes for when you "beat" the game (after marriage and main story). You can farm, fish, cook, mine, craft weapons/armor, fight monsters, tame monsters to help you on your farm, attend town festivals/events, and date/marry a selection of characters. The art, music, and story are nice. One thing that I love is that you can pick whether to be a girl or a boy. Also, if you get tired/bored of strengthening your relationships with the villagers and working on your farm, you can switch it up by hitting the dungeons and gathering resources in the wilderness instead, and vice-versa. Overall, I highly recommend this game if you want a casual, relatively lighthearted (but addicting) game to pass the time with.

Great port of a fantastic 3DS game. Endless hours of gameplay and fun combat, which is rare for a game of this type. All the crafting is very fun and engrossing, and has a good story. Definitely a worthy investment.

A fantastic game in the series. Combat is still about what you expect but I really enjoy the crafting, farming, and building relationships with the various characters around town.

Currently on a new game plus. I had fun with the game overall. I was a bit hesitant at first due to me not enjoying life sims much but this game surprised me with its simple but complex combat that gives you many options but doesn’t confuse you even if you don’t understand it fully. You can still enjoy the game, The characters might be a little tropy at first but they grow on you., The story is good and spans over three chapters, each being multiple hours. I would recommend this game to anyone who wants a JRPG/Life sim that they can play for multiple hours,

Best Rune Factory game so far

I love this game. If you are a fan of Rune factory already, you will no doubt enjoy this addition. If you are new to the series, this game is a farming action RPG with very charming characters. There are lots of little events that the whole town will participate in that always keep thing interesting. The fighting mechanics aren't too complicated, there is much more focus on collecting items, crafting, and leveling up skills, to create better recipes (buffs), weapons, and armor. It's a easy and enjoyable game to play.

Never played rune factory games before so I'm a bit late to the party but decided to try now since it was on the Nintendo switch. The controls take a bit getting used to in some aspects (it took me a bit to find how to separate a bundle of items) but what made this a great game are the characters. While dungeons and farming are great, I would often find myself just going around talking to everyone to see what new dialogue they have to say. It's hilarious what some of them have to say.

This is one of my favorite games of all time. Between farming (which admittedly is pretty basic), hanging out with the townsfolk (and potentially getting married), and slapping down monsters, there are hundreds of hours of content here. The gameplay is very accessible but does allow for a huge amount of build/character customization with a pretty robust crafting system.

    Favorite Harvest Moon Style Game

Rune Factory 4 is my personal favorite Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons type game. I had it on 3DS, and was happy to have the chance to get this Switch version. It has more exploration and combat than other games of this type, and its possible to get more done in the early game than in something like Stardew Valley. For me, it makes the game more fun. Being a 3DS game first, this port might not look amazing vs recently developed Switch games, but it does benefit from a higher resolution, stable performance, and a few minor extras. I like the NPCs in this game a lot. They seem to have a lot more things they can say vs other games of this type, and sometimes their own little story elements. I think they add more personality to the game vs similar games. They can also help you fight if you want, with their each villager behaving differently. Like one may fight with a sword, where another might try to help by throwing food at you if you get hurt.

Though the game has a lot of grinding, it’s a great game for those harvest moon lovers that want a little action, the five stars is for the product making it on time and in one piece , the actual game I’d give a 7/10

Looking for another game similar to Stardew Valley? This could be it. This games isn't exactly like Stardew Valley, don't forget that Stardew Valley is inspired by many Japanese farm games like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, but this games does things better & worse than Stardew Valley. Mind you this game is YEARS old, if you can overlook that you will be pleased by a great cast of characters that many claim to be more in-depth than SV's but still SV still holds reign over being the superior farming game. But what sets this game apart from Stardew Valley is that it isn't just a Farming game. I can explain but its honestly better for you to experience for yourself instead of taking my word for it. Try it! Then you will be prepared for the new one coming late 2021!

I love this game! It is a lot of fun. It is an amazing combo of a farming simulator, and a monster fighting rpg! The only issue I have is there is a blemish on the cover plastic. It's a bit sad to look at, as it makes me sad to show some of my friends the case, and it's amazing cover art

    Super Farmer Monster Battler RPG

Imagine if the Harvest Moon series met the monster rancher series? Well you don't have to! This is my first experience with a Rune Factory game and it is pretty solid. Let me get this out of the way right now; I enjoy more traditional farm and life sims like harvest moon, stardew valley, and animal crossing. I think the thing I liked least about this game was the combat. It was very simplistic and could get repetitive. Another downside were the graphics; I know this is a remake of a 3DS title, but they could have done a better job polishing it up for the Nintendo Switch. On the upside though, the farming is satisfying (but not enough of it!) and the character interactions are much more entertaining (and less superficial) than the Harvest Moon series. All in All, I would say that this falls somewhere between My Time at Portia and Stardew Valley in terms of entertainment value.

Fun and charming JRPG with addicting farming sim, combat, and dating mechanics. Features some new additions not present in the 3DS version, so worth buying if you want an excuse to return to this game!
