Customers often highlight the enjoyable gameplay, captivating story, and beautiful art book and steelbook included in the Earthmate edition of Rune Factory 5. However, some customers reported performance issues, including frame rate drops and occasional glitches. The difficulty of placing furniture was also a common complaint. Despite these drawbacks, many players found the game to be worthwhile.

Beautiful collectors edition! Cons for me is the game doesn’t run very well on the switch. Despite performance issues the game is a pleasure to play! A feel good game to play when you want to relax after a long day.

Overall improvement over RF4. However, there are performance issues and the physical manual was slightly damaged when I opened the box.

I've been playing this game religiously the past couple days and it's a ton of fun. (Note: the only other RF I've played is 4 so all the comparisons I make will only be for that game.)
I only have a few complaints (so far) so I'm going to get those out of the way first. The game's performance is pretty terrible. I've never been one to whine much about graphics or performance but this game is quite bad at times. It's far from unplayable but the issues are still bothersome. It's unfortunate.
This is a minor gripe but placing furniture is god awful. I didn't like the way you placed furniture in RF4 but somehow its even worse here.
The story is meh so far, at least compared to RF4. I've played for about 15 hours at this point and nothing has really happened lol.
Anyways, now the good stuff. The characters are really good! I like them all. I'm even having trouble who to romance! Also, it's nice that the series has finally introduced same sex marriage.
Friendship events are way easier to trigger than RF4. In my 15 hours I've already done a TON of cute events. (Meanwhile I played 15 hours of RF4 and didn't trigger a single event.)
You can now accept multiple requests at once, and there's now a button to deposit all of the lumber and stone in your inventory into your lumber box so you don't have to do it manually anymore! And you can fast travel from your map. (Just a few QoL features I've noticed, I'm sure there's more!)
Anyways, my list of positives might be short but that's because the gameplay is pretty much exactly the same as RF4, with a few minor differences. But that's not a bad thing, because RF4 is a great game. If you loved RF4 (or the other ones) then there's a good chance you'll like this as well.
If you've never played a RF before, it's a relaxing farming game with charming characters and fun JRPG combat. Highly recommend.

Runs like a Gamecube Game in the year 2022

5/5 stars for the Earthmate Edition bundle. The set is very high quality, and I'm a sucker for games that come with a guide like they used to. The artwork is beautiful, and it's nice to have the book of it. I do DEEPLY dislike the artwork on the CD. It's this creepy little fur-bait, tween looking wolf girl looking very inappropriate. It's basically a clothed hentai pose. I am not a furry nor a weeaboo, and it's so embarrassing to have something looking like that in my home, that I threw it away.
2/5 stars for the game itself. It's shameful for a game like this to have come out in the year 2022. Had this been a Gamecube or a Wii game, I would have thought it was amazing for its time. But it isn't. It looks and performs like a Gamecube game. Any time you exit a door, the frame rate slows down to a near unplayable rate for a couple of seconds and you have to wait for it to catch up so you know what you're doing.
The downgrade to 3D really makes the gameplay difficult vs the old top-down style of the DS games. Shifting the camera is clunky and I can never get it right. Playing too long makes me a little nauseous as a result. It makes things very difficult to aim, and placing things like furniture is somehow even more difficult than it was in RF4!
The game adds nothing to the Rune Factory formula. It's the same old, same old. Literally the only improvement on the series is that you can choose a same-sex romantic partner (I would have loved this in RF4, the female characters were way more interesting than the boys). The characters are new but fill the same old cookie-cutter roles. I have around 30 hours in the game so far and haven't even started looking for a romance candidate. I guess it's nice to know I'm no longer bound by a gender restriction, but I haven't taken an interest in any of them.
I was so disappointed with this game that I couldn't play it for the first couple weeks. After lowering my standards and pretending that I was playing a Gamecube game, I was eventually able to enjoy it. I love the Rune Factory series, and I just have to pretend that this isn't a game I've been waiting on for nearly a decade since its predecessor. I nearly returned the game because of its unacceptable quality.

Love the artbook, the cd and the steel cover that came with it. I decided to pick it up on the store so it doesn't get damaged during shipping.
Things that are new in comparison to Rune Factory 4:
1. You can date/marry any of the bachelors and bachelorettes regardless of your gender
2. Not limited to doing 3 requests a day
3. Items can be automatically picked up when you walk towards it.
4. There's now a bounty where you hunt a certain monster
5. Can use the capture move to steal items off of monsters, making rare items easier to get
6. Events are triggered if you go to a certain spot instead of it being random
7. Can teleport anywhere. I don't need to go to an airship or save point to teleport
8. I heard that your child will look different according to who you married.
9. New fishing mechanic, caught me off guard where I was able to get a blowfish with my cheap rod
10. There's some new monsters, I like the pink woolie
Things I don't like in comparison to RF4:
1. There is some performance issues. Probably caused by all the boulders scattered throughout the region.
2. Repeating dialogue, unlike in RF4 where everyday the dialogue is different.
3. I do not see the characters hangout with each other in each other's rooms or eat together in the restaurant
4. Characters don't even comment about you observing their stuff in their room or sleeping on their bed as a joke.
5. Can't put furniture against the wall or next to other furniture. There is a trick to work around it but it's tedious
6. Wide open spaces, 3 beaches in Rygbarth and yet I have not seen any fish for me to catch inside them. Maybe I'm just unlucky
7. Character portrait doesn't change when I switch to a different outfit. (Casual to Ranger uniform)
8. Hard mode still seems normal for me
I have seen the improvements that went through from Rune Factory 1 to 4 on the DS. For every installment new mechanics are made and improved the quality of life. I am hoping that in the next installment, things can be added and improved upon.

My favorite Run Factory game so far!! I loved the graphics and new characters to the point I could not put my Switch away. Despite of some new additions to the series, it also keeps all good and old things from previous games. Very very highly recommend!!

The extras in the special edition are good (art book, steel book case and music CD) but I'm struggling to like the game itself. Camera controls are annoying and there have been a few odd glitches, like the fertilizer bin ending up underneath the log box where I didn't find it for a while. For me, the game just isn't as enjoyable or easy to play as Rune Factory 4.

Has its flaws but is really good, dont listen to the people obsessed with graphics, this is on a switch afterall. Brings me a lot of notalgia to the ps2 era, reminds me of dark cloud 2 with the art style. Played ut and beat it and replayed it again

This is a nice limited edition of a Rune Factory game. The steelbook looks great. The art book has 70 pages of art. There is 15 tracks on the CD specially selected. The outer box art is pleasant.

I bought this for my mom for her birthday. She loves the rune factory series. Her favorite part of the box was the colored booklet that had art and details to the game. I enjoyed the sound track. The game itself was super fun. I love the new graphics they used on this one. The controls were really good too. They weren’t too difficult for my mom who doesn’t play a lot and really engaging for me who usually ends up playing so she can watch. All in all an excellent product.
