Customers have good things to say about the Tello Boost Combo Quadcopter's ease of use, camera quality, and battery life, frequently citing its smooth operation and surprisingly good image capture for the price. However, some users experienced challenges with the drone's wind resistance and limited range, particularly in breezy conditions. Concerns were also raised regarding app compatibility with newer Android devices and the lack of an included controller in some packages.

Overall this is a pretty good drone for beginners. Out of the box the drone hoovers with very little drift which can be adjusted. Easy to fly and with the 2 extra batteries you can spend 30-40 minutes outside having fun. Limited range radio range keeps the drone close but you do have options for an Wi-Fi antenna to allow you to fly further. Camera on system is surprisingly clear and steady. You control the drone and take pictures through your cell phone via Tello app from your favorite app store.
Have fun!

the best drone for the price. I bought this not expecting much but was surprised at how well it handles. it's so easy to fly that my 4 year old can fly it. each battery lasts about 12 - 15 minutes each, they also charge fast enough that by the time you use up 1 battery then the next should be ready to go. you do need a decently bright room for the bottom camera to self stabilize the drone. I found that the guards work great but cause issues on a windy day. after removing the guards I was able to zip around outside in decently high winds with no issues, If you wanna increase drone range and getter better video then I would recommend buying a wifi extender. also look into using Tello fpv and the tellome apps with the drone they add so much more fun to the experiance

Awesome drone, Awesome price, Awesome Video

This drone is awesome! I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. It is lightweight, so you don't have to register it in most states. I use it for fun and some useful things too. I used it to take videos of my roof so that I can look at it up close on the video later to check for repairs. I also use it to take family photos from a higher view.
The cost is also great for a drone. I highly recommend the drone that comes with the batter back. The batteries last about 20 minutes when not taking video, and about 10 minutes when taking video.
The video is crisp, clear and great quality.
You may want to ask, why not 5 stars?? Well, the drone is seriously lacking good instructions. It took me an hour and many Google searches to figure out how to get it started and flying properly. Getting my Android phone connected to the drone was tough because there are no instructions on how to do this properly. Once I did, it works great and is easy to use. It's just difficult to figure it out on your own initially.
Again, highly recommended, easy to use (once you learn how), takes great quality video. Just have a little patience in getting your phone setup to connect to the drone.

Great starter drone. Easy to setup and fly. The camera is good consider its a 100 drone. Batter time is solid. I’ve bought two so far. Which leads me to the one negative. It doesn’t stand a chance on a moderate windy day. I lost the first one I bought at lake. It was hovering fine until a gust hit it and off it went. A solid drone for a newbie like myself. Only wish it had more juice again wind.

The Tello is small, agile, takes great photos and the video is a bit blurry (reason for the 4 star rating). For the amount of features packed into this drone it gives a person the ability to fly inside without damaging anything and learning how to take pics or video. Easy to setup and connect to a phone. The combo kit provides 3 batteries, a charging doc and spare propellers that come in handy.

Was gifted this for Father's Day. A good entry point for drones but not perfect. I have upgraded several times over and become an expert since. After using this one extensively and researching many drones I do think this is the best drone for the money. It would be even better though if it had 2 things: a controller and an SD card slot for saving video. The video on this thing looks great but it is hardly usable due to frame skipping, so I would use it exclusively for selfies. If you buy a $12 WiFi repeater you can improve range and reception but it is still not good. If you are OK with designating this as a selfie drone primarily, then I do recommend it because the camera quality is the best in this price range. There is a remote that can be purchased for it which makes flying this easier but it further messes up the video due to the interference it causes. I instead got a Gamevice which is way more expensive and doesn't worsen the video as it has a physical connection to my iPhone's lightning port.

Purchased the Tello kit with three batteries for a great price (under $100). I added in the separate controller and have really liked how easy it was to link them up. Everything worked right out of the box except the video (wouldn't save). That was resolved after a software update in the Tello app. This drone is easy to control and takes reasonable pictures. It has been robust to some minor bumps and bangs.

I wanted to try a drone out without breaking the bank and buying an expensive one. The Tello drone is SO MUCH FUN!! The boost kit provides extra propellers, three batteries , and a charger. It's a small drone and you have to be a little careful that you don't bend or break any parts which is a little hard to do. I've smashed into things and it's fallen down quite a bit and still works well. Don't expect this to be high-end because that's not what you are paying for, but it's still a great starter drone. You have to connect with app from phone or tablet via wifi, so range is limited but can go pretty good distances. If you plan to use outside, make sure it's not super windy outside. I specifically bought this to check my roof. I have a two story, and we have had some strong storms the past few weeks. Wind blew it around a bit but I got the video I needed to review my rood. I use this inside quite a bit just to fly around and tease my dogs. I would recommend for starters. Great for educating kids. They have an EDU version, but this version also allows you to use Scratch SDK kit to do custom programming and coding. FUN!

Expect $100 Performance

This drone just requires you to remember you bought a $100 drone. I found it to be more than adequate if conditions are good (light, wind, etc). The drone really wants good lighting and virtually no wind or it will drift quite a lot. It does not have GPS so that's to be expected, you have to maintain it's location and direction. I thought flying it was alright, but when I really tried out sport mode I found it to be quite fun actually. It flies quite a lot faster and banking corners is fun in sport mode.
The camera is decent. I took it to the gun range and was able to get some cool pictures and videos right before the wind made it drift into a dirt bank.
All together, I think it's a great hobby drone for flying and casual pictures...maybe a video or two.

Pretty good little flyer.
Even took a few minor impacts with no damage.
I bought this to inspect high places so I don’t need ladder, like my gutters.
Cons-
Doesn’t fly well when there’s wind.
Can’t take off if it’s not level (sucks if it crashes on your roof

This drone is nearly perfect for the price and for it's size. It works well with many different types of devices (Android, iOS, Chromebooks, and Windows). It flies reliably and with good stability. The 3 batteries give you plenty of flight time to play with.

This drone is pretty nice to learn the basics of flying with.
It is controlled with the Tello app which is in both Apple Store and Play Store depending on your phone or tablet. The app runs your phone or tablet as a screen for the camera and also the controls for that drone. It generally never has any connection issues and if you want to invest in it, there are third party controllers so you would only have to use your phone or tablet as a screen.
The drone connects to your device through wifi and flys around well in a house. I’ve practiced with this drone just juking around furniture and software.
It doesn’t do well outside as any small gust of wind will drop it though. I’d say by the time you’ve mastered this drone, you should be looking at a new bigger drone to fly around. I’ve since moved up to a Mini 3 Pro drone.

First the positives. For the size, build quality is great. It’s easy to fly and intuitive even indoors. The boost pack includes multiple batteries and a charging hub to keep the fun going (individual batteries don’t last very long).
Now to be critical. The Tello is advertised as working with Bluetooth game pads. While true in a sense, they leave out that it’s only two very specific controllers and one is highly customized and only sold by DJI. Also if you live in a more urban or heavy WiFi area you are not going to get the stated range.
Overall the Tello is still a fun toy (note I said toy) for beginners. I feel that with the featured logos on the box they should have passed down a few more features from its Phantom and Mavic cousins and at least included a controller. The Tello just needs refined ie: is it for racing? Is it a toy? Or is it for drone pilots stuck indoors in the winter.

THE BEST TOY/BEGINNER DRONE

this is a great beginner/toy drone.
PROS: it’s is very easy to use and very forgiving in the basic mode. my first toy drone required some skill to just keep it hovering in place. the tello is does that right out the box. i was able to do basic flight “drills” indoors without much worry. the native tello app works very well and because of the robust online community, there are various 3rd party apps that add advanced features to the tello’s flying experience. the kit with 2 extra batteries and a set props is the best deal, as a single battery is roughly 8-10min of flight time & props break easily.
CONS: limited range because the drone is limited to your phones wifi. NOT a video drone at all (720p, frame drops, no onboard SD card) so if your wanting to film, i would not recommend a tello. the most interesting “con” i have of this drone, is for the amount of money i’ve put into it to getting a quality drone experience (controller, apps, accessories), i possibly could’ve bought a much better drone.
i do completely recommended this drone to anyone wanting to learn to fly with very minimal frustration/ initial expense.
