Broke on day 29… not happy at all… Camera now has a purple hue to it, I would suspect that the internal IR filter that all cameras have has shifted and that is the reason but I can’t be sure.

This Webcam is very well built. It works really well and was easy to install with your computer. I mentioned mainly the laptop because the one real draw back for this Webcam is that it will not snap to a monitor with any kind of curved besel. It will however work really well if you are traveling and need a nicer Webcam for use with your laptop. Some of the newer laptops often will cut features with their Webcam and this will more than make up the difference. The video is great and the sound is superb for videos and conference calls. I used it for Teams calls and it was very plug and play. I highly recommend this Webcam to anyone who want a better camera for their calls than the one that came with their laptop. The video quality was great and very clear. The sound performance was exceptional and highly recommended. I liked that it was compact and built very nice. The quality was probably one of the best om.the market. I liked that it came with a quality usb c cable that made it work with all modern systems.

The Samson Go Mic provides good sound and video from a mobile, USB-C attached, mic and camera rig. Design The mic and camera part folds down and over into the base, under the clamp. It's a good fit and makes it easy for me to put it in my back pack, with the camera lens protected. There is also some weight to the base which I like. So I while it's designed to clamp onto a monitor or laptop display, it can also sit on a desk and I can aim the camera however I want. There is one switch on the left side of the mic/camera unit to switch the mic mode between cardioid (or unidirectional, for the person in front of it) to omni-directional (to get audio from all around). Be aware, as small as bezels are around displays these days the clap may very well go over a small part of the display. It did on my laptops. There is also a 1/8" stereo out jack. Ease of Use It's really plug and play. Just plug it in and wait a minute, then open your favorite video or audio application. I tried it on Windows 10, Windows 11, and a Chromebook and it worked well on all three. I tried it in different video and audio programs and it worked well. If you're using it on a laptop with a camera, you'll need to select the button to switch from your built-in camera. Sound Quality For my purposes the built in mic my laptops work pretty well. I didn't notice a significant difference in sound quality. You can use the mic without using the camera. I used it with a few different audio only applications. The one thing that is significant though is the option to switch to uni-directional audio. It doesn't eliminate the background audio but it does soften it noticeably. This gives the option of better recording of audio from the whole room or just the person in front of it. Video Quality I was happy with the video quality. It's better than my built in webcams on my laptops. For one thing, the performance is much better in lower light. The image didn't get all grainy. Also, it's 1920x1080 resolution instead of the 1280x720 on many laptops. That combined with the low light really helped the image look better for me. It also seems to be very low latency. It's just as responsive as the built-in cameras on my laptops. Summary I like the versatility of being able to clip it on the top of a monitor or set it on a desk. It's also great being able to switch between uni and omni-directional. The design makes it easy to travel with too. If you're looking for a good mic and camera for your desktop or an upgrade for your laptop, the Samson Go Mic could be a good solution for you.

    A Unique and Well-Designed Upgrade For Video/Audio

The Go Mic Video is a very small plug-and-play unit that is designed to upgrade your laptop by providing HD quality front-facing video and dramatically improved audio capture. Smaller than a pack of cigarettes, it can stand on its own or can be clipped to your laptop. Operation is very simple - it connects by USB-C to your device and is recognized as a webcam with audio capture. There is no battery to be concerned with and the only switchable feature on the device toggles between microphone capture that is primarily front-facing and microphone capture that is omnidirectional. For my setup, it converts my laptop from having just a poor rear-facing camera to having an improved maneuverable camera. Audio capture is a dramatic improvement from what the little pinhole microphone can capture on my laptop. The camera improves my laptop's video substantially and has much better low-light capture. While this is not anything close to a professional microphone/camera combo, it is VERY portable and offers improved quality (plus well-designed maneuverability). Only negative detail is that I noticed that some brightly lit peripheral things can show up as ghost images from reflections on the glass that protects the camera lenses - not a problem if the subject is well lit but it can be a distraction if surrounding objects are brighter than the subject. This serves a niche function, but I think it serves that function very well. It faithfully serves the tasks for which it is advertised.

When I first received the Samson - Go Mic Video, I thought what the point was. My laptops are only a few years old with my work laptop only a few months old. The video and audio quality is decent. However, the Samson Go Mic Video proved had inadequate the built in cams and mics are. In review: Build quality and design – The Go Mic Video is well made and solid. The main body is plastic and the base is metal. It is designed to clip onto a laptop screen or a standard monitor. There are thick rubber pads on the clipping mechanism to prevent damage to anything you may clip it on. It is smart design that lets you clip either on the top or the side of a screen. The clamping mechanism is surprisingly strong, weak hands may have trouble opening it. Do not want to clip it on a screen? Samson has it covers – the base can also be used as a free-standing video cam. There is a 3.5mm headphone connector in the side of device. Light weight and a compact design that I really like. Set up – Plug in and go. No special software. I used it on two laptops - a 4-year-old LG Gram and new Surface Pro 7. There were no issues whatsoever. I did read some a review that stated they had a problem with the Surface Pro but that was not my experience. Video quality – Excellent and noticeably better than my Surface Pro 7 and LG Gram. Using both Zoom and Teams, I switched back and forth between the built-in camera and Go Mic Video. You will immediately notice a less grainy, richer picture on the Samson. There is little to no latency and colors are decent ( although not as a good as a cell phone video cam.) Mic audio quality – The mic sounds excellent and does a great job of capturing rich vocals while minimizing background noise. There is switch on the side of the mic that makes a huge difference in sound clarity. The switch allows user to choose a cardioid or omni pattern. Since I was using it for Team and Zoom meetings here I am the only person in the room, I chose the cardioid . That significantly cut down on the mic picking up unnecessary background sound. There is a lot of thought and quality in the Samson Go Mic Video. For a bargain price, you get a perfectly competent video cam and mic that is great for today’s video conferencing. There is not much not to like but there is some room for improvement. I would put a power button on the unit rather than relying on unplugging the unit to shut it down. The colors could be richer and makes me wonder if the Samson Go Mic Video would benefit with some software tuning. Other than that, this is a great product with a solid 2 year warranty. .

Samson - Go Mic Video Portable USB Microphone with HD Webcam is one of the best portable microphones with webcam available. The voice and video are so clear. The design is sleek and compact, so it fits to my laptop so easily. The device comes with a high-definition webcam at 1080p. It has a multi-pattern USB condenser microphone and can record both cardioid and omnidirectional polar patterns. The device is easily recognized and works with most software. It has zero latency, which makes it great for YouTube and zoom meetings. I use it for podcasts and virtual meetings, and it works great. The device is portable so one can use it on the go and transferring to different locations is easy. The Samson - Go Mic Video Portable USB Microphone with HD Webcam really works. The colors and detail show up very well and have a great brightness and contrast that allows you to easily see small details. When working in a low-light environment, the image will automatically adjust to be more visible. Also, the camera will focus automatically, depending on how far away the user is from it.

Unbelievable Microphone Quality and a Good Camera

When I selected this product, I doubted that it would be much better than the built-in Facetime camera on my MacBook Air (2020). I was wrong. The video from the Samson Go Mic Video was much crisper (that is, less blurred). The microphone audio quality was also very impressive, and when I played it back, it sounded "at least as good" (better) than it did in person in the room the video was recorded. I've never heard a webcam microphone sound anywhere near this clear. The camera was initially a little difficult to figure out how to open, but once I understood that I had to rotate out the camera, it was obvious how to clip it onto the laptop screen. The cable that came with it is replaceable, so if you did want to hook it up to a desktop computer setup, you could get a longer USB-c cable to hook it up with. The camera easily tilts up and down, and of course, you can slide the clip left and right to move the camera. I anticipate that this will be a great web camera and microphone that I will use for video calls (Zoom, Google Meet), and I may even be inspired to do more with video creations with this mic/camera. I would recommend the Samson Go Mic Video if you're looking for an audio/video recording/conferencing upgrade.

Super compact and convenient microphone and webcam set that can be used with a laptop or desktop computer for a variety of purposes. The audio recording is very high quality, and the video quality is on par with what is needed for Zoom calls or other everyday casual video needs. If you are a student, this is super convenient for Zoom classes as the audio is very clear and good quality for participating in discussions. It works perfectly for work calls as well, and I haven’t had an issue there. I do like that it is adjustable and easy to flip and store away when it is no longer in use. It makes it easy to take this on the go with you, should you be using a laptop and need to store it away or move locations. The set up on your computer is pretty self explanatory because it is a USB, but the setup guide is easy to follow if you aren’t familiar with using or setting up a USB video/audio device onto your computer. I was able to get it up and running in less than five minutes. I highly recommend this microphone and webcam set to anyone looking to upgrade their Zoom call game or even get into streaming!

I love being a content maker. I make videos with my friends and they range in content. From family friendly to everything else. The stand works amazingly with all of our phone's. Some of us have Androids and you know how many of those there are and then everybody else has iPhone's. The microphone sinks up perfectly. Almost like any other Bluetooth headset might. The feedback and play varies. I feel like this was builtmore for Apple but whenever you make necessary adjustments and depending on the phone android delivers as well. Feedback got to be a little bit of a problem but again that comes back to set settings. It also comes down to content. Some things are easier the film than others but again that comes back to the phone. This little setup is awesome, especially perfect for sound capture as well as attachment to most phones. However, in terms of design and content creating, I have to give the edge to iPhone. Android delivers there's just a lot of adjustments you have to make. I highly recommend this to any content creator, especially those who like on the go content, outdoor content and dialogue.

I really enjoyed this product. It can turn any computer's mediocre camera and microphone into a great setup. It is really simple and easy to use. The base clips easily to the top of a laptop or just a regular computer monitor. The camera/microphone has a nice range of motion, it's convenient to tilt up or down. The actual quality of the product is very nice and sturdy. It has a nice, solid weight and seems to be well-built. The camera is extremely good quality, it records crisp 1080p that looks better than a similar 1080p camera I was using before. The microphone is also very good. It picks up noises well so I've found I can't use speakers with it because it will pick up the noise from it and echo. However, the microphone itself is really nice and people have told me it sounds better than just the regular-quality headset microphone I would use before. Overall, I really like this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a superior setup than a laptop offers out of the box for Zoom or Teams meetings. It only plugs in with USB-C, so be sure your computer/laptop has that.

Samson comes to the market with the Go Mic Video and it seems like a missed opportunity. At a time when many manufacturer's are starting to pay more attention to and invest in better video and audio quality (both on the mic and speaker side) this offering from Samson comes off as kinda mediocre. I think about who the intended audience is - of course content creators comes to mind - but there are plenty of laptops coming onto the scene with 1080p cameras so the lack of 4k seems like a missed opportunity. The other audience that comes to mind is the person using this for conference calls in which case maybe the 1080p vs. 4k video quality doesn't matter as much, but again - if my laptop has a 1080p camera and studio speakers, this product is a swing and miss in regards to target audience. What did I like? Build quality is excellent. You can't beat the size and the way the stand works is masterfully executed. It's also cool that this can be mounted to a standard tripod for content creators. If you have an older computer this could still be an upgrade (on video quality at least), but the audio quality is a bit off of what comes built into some computers by default.

Nice little webcam/mic combo device. The hardware is solid. The included Type-C cable is of good quality and measures about 5’. More than long enough to clip to your screen and plug into your USB port. Setting it up seems to be plug and play. Plug it in, configure your software, (in OBS pick “Go Mic Video” or “Camera Mic”) and start recording. On the mic itself, there’s a switch to change the direction of audio the mic is to pick up. Either all around or directly in front. The clip is strong enough to hold from the bezel of a laptop or the edge of a monitor. If you prefer to not clip it, the backside of the clamp has rubber feet to lay it flat on a desk. Alternatively, the base also has a standard 1/4” thread for a tripod or arm mount. If I had to nitpick something it would have to be the clamp system. I couldn’t really get it on my surface, not because its too big for it but I didn’t want to bring damage to the screen. I was able to clamp onto my monitor but since the bezel is so thin I had trouble getting it on safely. Maybe this is just me being overprotective of my electronics and there isn’t any issue. In the end, it’s a quality mic and cam combo that features a good picture and audio quality. Offers several mounting options for ease of use and versatility. All while housed in a sturdy metal frame. It’s a good upgrade to your on-board mic and cameras found on laptops. This is a 4-star product.

I have the original version of this mic, and it is great. This new version with a camera, still has a GREAT mic. However, the camera is just average at best or a little bit better than most laptop cameras. It will for sure get the job done, and looks better than my Macbook Pro 14 camera. But colors are still not on par with other cameras in this price range or less, but this has a better mic. The best part is the mic if I'm being honest, it's super strong and sounds great like the previous generation from years back. If you want a small update from a typical laptop camera, this is going to work great for you. If you are looking for high quality video, look elsewhere...this is not for you. Again, it is technically an upgrade from the average laptop camera, but that is about it. On a strong note, it is now type c. I liked this right out of the box, and was happy i could just plug into my laptop with on extra software to install or dongles needed. In the end, try and and see for yourself. You can then decide if it's a big enough upgrade from your current laptop camera. It probably will be.

The Samson Go Mic Video with HD Webcam is a great portable device. The packaging is clever. There’s a clip that holds the microphone and camera securely in place against the sturdy backplate. The backplate protects the camera lens and microphone, making it easy to toss into a travel bag without fear of damage. The Go Mic Video is mounted to the clip / backplate assembly on a swivel mechanism. To use the microphone / camera, you open the clip and twist the Go Mic out. The backplate then goes behind your screen and the clip on the front. You then attach the (included) USB-C cable to your computer and you’re ready to go. The microphone has a switch to select cardioid (picks up only sounds directly in front of it) or omnidirectional (picks up all sounds). Using the cardioid setting effectively blocked out traffic noise while sitting on a fourth story deck above a busy city street, while omnidirectional picked up voices, pets, and other sounds in the room and beyond. Sound quality is excellent. My voice is deep and doesn’t always translate well into a microphone, but the Samson was quite clear and natural sounding. Video quality is very good, providing you have proper lighting. In low-light conditions the color was off, but if you’re making professional videos it’s safe to assume that you have the correct lighting setup. The only downsides were that the clip is rather large and blocks a small part of the screen when in use, and the weight of the USB cable can cause the camera to tilt slightly on the swivel mount, causing a skewed image. Playing with cable placement did fix this. This is a great unit, and it is such a huge upgrade over my laptop built-ins that it is now my traveling companion.

Samson Go Mic Video USB Microphone with HD Webcam

So I received my Samson Go Mic Video USB Microphone with HD Webcam a few days ago and have been putting it through it's paces. Unpacking the small device is fairly simple, although at first glance I thought something was missing. That is until I pressed down on the strong clamp, which you'll find the microphone/camera tucked away nicely inside. Also in the package comes a USB-C to USB-C cable. Simply plug one end of the cable into the side of the Go Mic and the other end into a USB-C port on your desktop or laptop and you're set. The top mesh portion of the device is obviously the microphone on the front and back. And below the microphone, is a very handy 1080p high definition webcam. There's a small headphone jack on the right side of the device and a switch to change between cardioid and omnidirectional on the left side. Both the microphone and camera will work nicely (although the colors were a little washed out) for those of us still working from home post-pandemic for those Zoom, WebEx, and Microsoft Teams meetings. Now this is where I had a couple of concerns. First the clamp is super strong (kudos to the build quality of this product). However, when I placed this on my VERY, VERY expensive monitor for my Mac, I quickly took it off as I was afraid that it would damage my screen. I was more inclined to pop this bad-boy onto my cheaper 6 year old windows laptop instead. Now, I did still test it out on my Mac, just having it sit atop my desk off to the side. It does have a hole in the bottom to attach as standard tripod, however, I couldn't find my tripod right off hand. Another thing, and this isn't necessarily a deal breaker, but it's constantly on, unless you unplug it. There's no power button or way for it to turn off like most webcams do when the program that they're designed for is closed out and no longer in use. But the good thing is that as long as it's unplugged, there's no prying eyes. Although, I think this is a decent microphone/camera combo at best, it's kinda hard to recommend when there's other cameras on the market that have more robust features for a cheaper price.

Out of the box this is an unusually looking webcam device. It is quite large for webcam device and takes some research to figure out how to hook onto your monitor. Once you get it figured out it holds on well. Once of the positives is that you can setup standalone as desktop webcam. The camera is descent but not super high quality. The mic works well and this is expected since it practically half of the device. Build quality seems to be something that you will have to be very careful with and not try to turn it the wrong way and break. It is an off brand device and will meet most people's needs for a basic webcam. I would suggest to spend a little more and go with a more mainstream brand. If you want a webcam you can travel with and setup anywhere, with or without mounting on a monitor, it will probably work for you. My son is using with his school laptop and I'm not sure how long it will last, but it is meeting his needs now. I was able to get his laptop to detect and setup without any software installation.
