Top-tier budget low-noise professional dynamic mic

As someone who is budget-conscious, a bit of audiophile, and loves to nitpick, I have to say, I'm absolutely thrilled with the quality of this mic, especially for the price. It's made of real metal and has a really nice weight to it (as someone who's never owned it's really fun to hold, makes you feel really professional), and the build quality is all-around great. The microphone records vocals extremely well, without picking up the room echoes or background noise, even in an untreated room. For the best recording quality, first do what you can to mitigate sources of background noise (close windows, turn off fans, etc.), tilt the mic so it is pointing right at your mouth, and position your mouth just a few inches away from it - the further your mouth is from the mic, the more echoes and other noise it will pick up. Don't get TOO close, though: you don't want to overwhelm the mic, and while it does a surprisingly great job of handling plosives (which are like the "puh" sounds in the "Peter Piper" tongue twister) most of the time, you can still hear some popping if you get your mouth too close to it or speak really loudly, and the foam wind screen that it comes with doesn't seem to help much. So, if you're looking to use it for more professional-quality recording, you may want to buy a pop filter for it (they're not that expensive, you can even just look up a tutorial and make one yourself). Honestly, the only real issue I've had with it so far is that the mic holder on the tripod is a little too loose out of the box, so it keeps wanting to tilt back, and it's challenging to tighten (both sides need to be tightened with large screwdrivers at the same time, which is hard for one person to do). All in all, the Samson Q2U is an absolutely incredible mic for the money. I give it a 9.5/10.

I was looking for a mic based on value and I was debating between this one and the Rode Podcaster. I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the sound. Added benefits were that it doesn't require phantom power and also gives the option of USB or XLR. I use a mixer so I'm not sure of the quality over USB but I can say as someone on a budget just starting a podcast, these mics will work for me well in to the future.

Good mic with a gain issue on Windows

Very decent mic with good sound quality and background noise rejection. I had a condenser mic before this and it was picking up way too much ambient noise in my recordings so I had to look for dynamic mic alternatives. I don't have an interface and USB dynamic mics are particularly scarce so my options were limited. After watching and reading multiple reviews on this mic, I decided to pick it up to try it out. It works well for the most part, but there's one big caveat that people with Windows PC/laptop should know about. The input level is very low on this mic so I have to turn the gain all the way up to about 85% and put my mouth right in front of the mic in order to get good recording volume. Unfortunately, with the gain that high, it also introduces a low level of hissing/static noise in my recordings. The hissing is only noticeable with headphones on or when I boost the volume up in post during silent bits when I'm not talking. It is easily removable in post or via noise reduction/noise gate filters in Zoom/Discord/OBS, so it's not a deal breaker for me compares to the amount of audible ambient noise that was picked up in my previous mic. My unit is not defective as I actually temporarily purchased a 2nd one just to do a comparison test and that one also produced the exact same result on the same settings. After researching around, I found out that this was a common issue for USB mics on Windows 10 as the system audio driver is rather crappy. Theoretically, it's a solvable problem once I upgrade to XLR down the line so I'm hopeful that it'll be worthwhile then. (I accidentally tore off a bit of the foam windscreen so I can't return this item, unfortunately). Other than the input issue, this is a really nice mic for all of its functions and versatility. The audio monitoring is very clean, the sound quality is crisp and full, and I appreciate all the accessories that come with the mic which help make setting up very easy. It has a decent build quality although the headphones volume control buttons aren't very flush and just recessed in a bit (they work just fine though). If you're planning on using this on a Mac or via an audio interface, this is a solid mic. However, if you're planning on using it via USB on Windows, keep in mind the low volume input as that might be a deal breaker.

Great Mic For Ease of Use and Low Budget

It's a great quality microphone for the price. My only issues with the mic are the lack of a USB C input. It still has the old school mini USB input. And the other issue is the native gain is set really low on the mic. So, you will need to boost it in post.

Best Budget Mic for any podcast or voice recording! If you plan on doing a podcast, voice over or zoom calls, this is a great mic. Being that it is a dynamic mic, it picks up your voice and limits unwanted noise around you which works well if you room isn’t soundproof set up. I ended up buying for of them with my Rodecaster Pro for podcasting. This is both USB for direct connection to your computer or xlr to work with audio devices like Rodecaster Pro.

My buddy and I recently started a remote podcast over quarantine, and nothing like sitting in a sound editing program to make you see how bad your friend's microphone is. This is NOT a top tier microphone, it IS however a great microphone at its cost and one which has drastically improved our quality. My buddy isn't tech savvy so thankfully this is a USB mic you can plug in and go with no problem. I highly recommend this one to people looking to dabble.

honestly after a littel tweaking, utilizing the rtx noise suppression. this 60 dollar mic is better then even its higher end usb mics like the yeti. people do not realize the yeti is a condensor mic which people dont realize if your room is not noise treated, it will pick up every echo. where as this style of mic is meant for what is right in front of it, and like i said, you can get it to sound better then a yeti for less. and have the option to upgrade as you go along to XLR with an audio interface.

Great price. Worked well for a project I needed it for where I hooked this up to my ipad pro. The small tripod could be better but honestly I was just happy it came with one. Sounds awesome for the price and easy to use/connect.

Good for voice and not for instruments

Dynamic mics are less sensitive and it's good for speaking close and directly into mic. Environment sounds will be reduced and distant. The frequency range is not as advertised 20-20K and it's very narrow. So this mic is good for voice only and not for anything else. Build quality is good and USB is plug and play.

A little on the pricey side, but well built and sounds fantastic using XLR! Haven't used as a USB microphone, but I imagine it will perform just as well. Absolutely no regrets

I got this mic to use primarily for video conferencing. It's nice that it comes with a stand, wind screen, and carrying pouch as well. The mic works well and is an improvement over the built-in mic on my 2017 MacBook Pro. The on/off switch makes it easy to mute/unmute without having to reach for a mouse to click on the video conferencing software and is better reassurance to me that the audio input is off.

This mic is great, especially when paired with Nvidia Broadcast to eliminate noise. I've used it for streaming and recording music and it's nice and clear. Multiple connection options make it very versatile and the built-in monitor output is very handy. Also includes a handy stand that I'm using until I get an arm to mount it on.

This is probably the best microphone you can buy for the price. It’s a dynamic microphone so it works really well if you have a lot of noise around you as it will not pick it up as much as a condenser microphone would. It sounds great and would be a perfect microphone for a gaming setup. Easy to use since it’s USB. Just plug it in and you’re ready to go. You can’t go wrong with microphone.
