A must have.

Graet Sound Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound quality, the only issue with this microphone is the sound from USB-C is to low. The sound from XLR connection is great but you'll need a cloudlifter to increase the volume.

Possibly defective out of the box ?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not sure if I received a defective mic but when I plug it in and connect it to my computer it has a terrible buzzing noise, I thought that maybe it would be my computer desktop background noise but nope same thing. Next I plug it into my brand new Alienware laptop which is super quiet and move to a room where it is dead silent... SAME THING.. Next I plug in my Blue Yeti which I've been using for 3 years and BOOM silent as can be. i will be returning this and will follow up on my review if anything changes. If not I will be moving over to the Shure Mv7

Decent mic for streaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mic quality is decent for the price. The things I don't like is that it doesn't have it's own software to configure. It also has a very underwhelming mute button that I would sometimes not realize it's muted. I ended up returning and purchased an MV7 that I'm in love with.

I love this mic.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this mic. It feels heavy and very well made. I'm able to position it how I'd like and it stays. I was really happy that it comes with 2 different cords to plug it into the computer. One goes from USB to USB-C and the other is USB-C to USB-C so it covers all bases. Setup was super easy. I just plugged it into the computer and away I went. I'm using a Windows desktop and tried out a couple DAWs. I was surprised by how informative the instruction manual is. It tells you how to set levels and how this type of microphone is used and best placement. I recorded using USB and using the XLR into an interface. Both sounded good and gave me no issues. Having monitoring right on the microphone was amazing. I experienced 0 latency when recording. I was able to get a good recording playing and singing capturing the vocals and guitar with no problem. I then recorded vocals, guitar, and bass all independently and they sounded great. It had no problems capturing the lows of the bass and the highs of the guitar with out changing any settings. The foam windscreen worked perfectly. I ended up using it to dampen some of the extra string noise as well. I thought it worked perfect to reject off-axis sound. I had the heater kick on and the CPU fan going and none of that bled into my recordings. It was also handy to have the mute button right on top to silence things too. Really my only issue is that when I saw the USB-C to USB-C cord I instantly thought about using it to do some demos on my tablet but the manual says that it won't work by just plugging it straight in. But overall I really recommend this for any audio project. Be it home studio or podcasting. I can't see how this wouldn't work great running a podcast from.

Beware Bad QC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This mic, from all the videos I've seen, is pretty good. Unfortunately, the first one I bought just didn't work at all, at least through the USB C port which would be my way of using it 99% of the time. I managed to get it to work for a few seconds if the USB was in the exact right position, tried different cables, different computer, but ultimately exchanged it. The second one I bought thankfully worked, but the sound quality is awful, have gone through all the paces I did before, made sure bitrate and frequency was right, tried different cables, etc. etc. Unfortunately it seems I just can't get a properly working one, and for that reason I can't recommend it. The second one I received was getting trashed by a much cheaper 50 buck Razer microphone to put in context how bad the quality was.

Excellent for Podcasting!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the mic was incredibly fun and surprising. The feature load out for the price point is good, and the ability of the mic to grow with your recording abilities by accommodating both USB-C and XLR is a great bridge between cheaper USB only mics, and high end professional microphones. Pros: Packaging was adequate without over doing it. Set up was easy, and the instructions are clear and simple to follow. Features of the mic are great. Having both USB-C and XLR connectors gives tons of usability. Sound through USB-C is clear and high quality, perfect for setting up on the go and capturing. XLR allows for a more professional, advanced setup with pre-processing and mixing if you need it. Mic has two filters you can activate with a switch: one low end cut off, and one mid range boost. The mid range boost is perfect for recording talking, and produces a great tone while minimizing the need for back end processing. The low end cut off is good if the room is particularly resonant and the bass range, or recordings are coming in too muddy. The integrated mute button is solid and changes position based on whether or not it's muted, allowing the user to know its state without being able to see it, if need me. This is particularly useful for situations where the microphone is situated in a way where the user can't see the mute button. The audio out jack on the mic allows for latency free monitoring, and comes in handy for vocal recordings, especially when using sound canceling headphones. Also, the mic came with a wind screen/pop filter attachment, which I didn't see on the box, but was a nice surprise. Cons: Heavy! That’s my only complaint!

Buyer Beware
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please beware of purchasing this item. I was excited to purchase this mic but have regretted it since. It picks up background noise even though all adjustments have been made to prevent that. Shortly after the audio issues persisted the mic completely died on me. I will not be purchasing this again

A REAL studio mic with lots of built-in features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Q9U is an impressive studio mic. I'm coming from some of Samson's smaller mics, like the Satellite, and I was impressed by the heft, build quality, and output from this new microphone. I feel like I have the perfect studio rig now. The mic does come pretty bare bones - The mic itself, the mount bracket that's permanently attached, and a foam screen are all that come in the box - You wont get any kind of stand base - That's an optional add-on from Samson but most standard mount mic stands will work as this uses the universal threaded mount size for microphones and arm mounting. The Q9U is USB-Type-C supported, and I was happy to find BOTH a C-to-C cable, and a USB-A-to-C cable in the box, and both were 6ft long! With most mics I've reviewed, you either only get the A cable, and/or they're only 3 feet long which prevents successful integration into a boom arm for real set ups. The mic mounted easily to my arm, but I really had to wrench and tighten the arms joints as this thing is HEAVY - I think I'll be upgrading to one of Samson's approved arms for this beast. I also had no problem connecting my AT-M51s as monitor for this mic. Works perfectly with the included 3.5mm Audio jack. There is a standard XLR port if you're a real pro and looking to integrate this mic into your non-impostor setup, unlike me... The device works great with my recording/collaborating/event software, which includes OBS Studio, Microsoft Teams, Audition, GrageBand, and Logic - NO issues with any of these and no drivers required on Windows 10 or macOS. Audio quality was excellent, though I need to spend some time tuning with the available midrange boost switch and testing the built-in pop filtration. For just a small premium over the entry level price, this thing seems to do an amazing job and is a much higher quality mic than what I was expecting. Really looking forward to events and broadcasting with this clarity.

Phenomenal Mic
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been in the market for a microphone for a few months now. These days we've become so dependent communicating over computers, that for many, a high quality microphone is a necessity. The Samson Q9U is a solid microphone that can handle all your needs, whether you're communicating over zoom, discord, or if you're a podcaster or streamer. This microphone will not disappoint. The Q9U delivers crisp clear audio. It features two equalizer switches on the bottom, both of which I prefer to use (Mid booster and Bass cut), as well as a large mute button on the top side of the mic. When using with Windows 10, it is recommended to set the gain to be peaked at 50% and after adjusting it around I found that to be the sweet spot for me. Having it cranked higher I was picking up the hum of my fish tank pump that's ten feet to my side, and lower I was not picking up all of what I was saying. The audio quality has been a huge improvement for me personally compared to my booms on my gaming headsets. And one of the best things is that it was literally plug and play right out of the box. Included the box you get the sturdy microphone with connected swivel yoke mount, a foam pop filter, as well as two usb-c cables (usb-c to usb-c and usb-c to usb-a). My only gripe, which is a small one at that, is that a simple desktop stand was not included with the microphone. With that being said, the microphone can attach to any standard mount (I ended up getting the Samson 38" boom arm to use). Overall I am extremely pleased with the design and overall performance of the Samson Q9U broadcast microphone.

Bad aux entry, less than a year.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AUX headphone is going bad, poor quality. The only reason I bought it is because It gives the option of xlr or usb connectivity but the aux connection is going bad. I bought it less than a year and I don't use it everyday.
