I've been using an HP Pavilion All-in-One desktop for many years now. It came with Windows 10 and as you may know, Windows 10 will end support by the end of this year. Since this computer had a 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700T CPU running at 2.90 GHz and no TPM, I couldn't upgrade to Windows 11 without running a hack and compromising my system. By today's standard, this computer is a dinosaur. I decided it was time to get a new PC. Rather than buying a ready made PC, I decided to build a computer from scratch. The last time I built one was back in 2009. It lasted me for 8 years but then I got the All-In-One. After researching all the various motherboards online I settled on the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero motherboard. It seemed to me to have all the upgradability I would need for years to come. I installed 64GB of RAM, an MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 and this Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB NVME M2 SSD. Since I mostly do video and photo editing, I wanted to make the computer as fast as I could so it would last me many years. I have to say, the speed of the SSD is incredible. The PC boots in record time and I am able to see the difference when loading applications between what I was used to and what I am seeing now. Loading the video and audio clips from the SSD into the editor as well as rendering out and saving a video using DaVinci Resolve in the past could take so much time when the video had multiple tracks, transitions, effects, and sometimes 16 audio tracks using a spinning hard drive. Now with this Samsung 9100 SSD, it finished transferring the files before I could even make coffee. I'm not used to transfers so fast, what am I going to do with all the extra time I saved? Now that I'm getting into AI, I need all the speed and power I can get. I'm sure this system will save me a lot of time.

I wanted more storage and fast storage and this was the ticket for me. Installation was fairly quickly for my desktop tower. I would say though that you will want to be prepared to buy a small screw depending upon your board as mine did not have the retaining screw pre-installed and one does not come with this SSD. Once the case was off, it took maybe 5 minutes for the physical installation. There may be some configurations you need to perform through the OS depending upon OS version and PC build - like switching to/from RAID and designating your boot drive or primary storage. That comes with the territory so to speak but best to be aware BEFORE your install. Once installed, in my case not as primary or boot, it was exactly as expected - fast search and storage very quick for me to move data form my existing drives to the new drive and I was very happy. There is data migration software available from a number of sources including the manufacturer for those that wish to go that route or are replacing a drive or just adding back up. I have no complaints and it certainly is quick.

Whoa! The Samsung 9100 Pro SSD is blistering fast. I've just finished reimaging my PC and whoa whoa whoa! I'm getting average 12GBps read/writes, which is very near on what the specs claim (14.7GBps). I think I'm getting a slight lag because I have an older motherboard or may need to do a motherboard BIOS update. This is literally 1.6x what my old SSD was performing at - which is stunning. I normally use a 512SSD as my primary Windows drive, and a 2TB for gaming/storage, but after doing some speed tests decided to reimage my entire PC and make the 9100 Pro my primary and only drive. The only real catch with the Samsung 9100 Pro is there's no included heatsink (at least in this version). So if you want one for a PS5, make sure you get the one with the included heatsink but for PC, Gaming, or if you're in graphics design - it's impossible for me to fault the speed and capacity. If you get Samsung 9100 Pro, do yourself a favor - reimage Windows, do a clean install, and enjoy the speed! A worthy PC upgrade! Recommended!!

The Samsung series has been, for quite a while, the go to series for many professional, and or serious gamers. PC Gamers, along with video editors, require the fastest speeds across storage, graphics, etc and Samsun Pro 9000 series is here to bring the heat, but no not that kind of heat (more on that). Installing the drive is like any other SSD. You want to ensure you install it in the correct mount as some mounts have different speeds. I have my motherboard documentation handy for times liek this to ensure that I have it mounted correctly. This drive replaces the C drive on my gaming machine, as it is the fastest component (the system is Windows 11 professional) and it's imperative to have your main drive as your fastest drive. I used the motherboard heatsink on this and never had any issue with heat or any sort of throttling. As always, Samsun leads the way and I am replacing an 8000 series drive on here, note that the Pro denotes a higher level of service, but unclear as to that moniker's full explanation. I'm very happy with the drive, Windows 11 is very fast, no issues installing it and it runs cool. Samsung has another winner on their hands here and long live PC gaming!

Read write speeds are as advertised when connected to a 5.0 x4 pci slot.
