I was prepared for the worst and had no issues installing batteries. Back came right off. I think people might be trying to pry more than just follow arrow down with your finger and it opens right up. With that being said, this product was used to replace a sony surround sound with a ton of wired speakers. I love it! For the price, its a great deal. Sound is great and I would have given it 5 stars but the directions are just picture's and not very helpful. After searching the web i was able to figure out more about the setup and after all is said and done, its works awesome. Could be a little more usuer friendly.

I really only use it for music because it’s loud and the bass is great! But it definitely also makes a great for a television sound-bar. Very crisp audio, Although the Bluetooth is a bit buggy sometimes.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with the HW-A430 Soundbar. I am sorry that your initial time with the Soundbar has not been ideal.
Make sure that you are running the most recent software available for your Soundbar. You can download the firmware directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-A430 under A Series.
Download the update and install it via USB thumb stick to your soundbar. If you need additional help, there are how-to instructions on this page. Please know that Samsung Customer Service is here to assist as well.
Next, try doing a soft reset, unplug the soundbar from the outlet for roughly 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
Finally, with the Soundbar on, press the + & - (Volume UP/DOWN) buttons on the body at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset.

I usually have the volume at around 15 when I play games but 20-30 to play music with friends over. It's perfect for the prize as a starter sound system
