    Excellent sound quality

Love the sound, love the look. Lots of features. Problem was that when connecting my new Samsung TV to this soundbar using HDMI, it would power off when the TV did, but not back on because when it turned on, it would chance the inout to . I went crazy until I found this in AVS FORUMS: "Samsung TVs do not support the "auto-on" feature, only "auto-off". This complaint has shown up many times on the various threads here, so you're not alone." However, after researching more, I found a solution and have posted a screenshot of it with this review.

    Perfect with the Samsung tv

Sounds good. More than plenty for our home. I used to have a lot of stereo equipment, but I need to simplify. This fit that bill and has made me happy. Bluetooth cuts extra wires and it integrates seamlessly with the tv. Was worried that it would be tall and block the image when sitting in front of the 8000 series, but it's just short enough that it doesn't unless I am on the floor with my daughter. Very happy overall.

    Not my first Samsung Soundbar

    Posted .

This is the second Samsung sound bar I've had. I had the first one for a couple of years. In the end it only worked when it was physically set a certain way. To be fair, it was a floor model so who knows if it was refurbished or dropped. I thought that had good sound until I bought this one. Yes, it's pricey. (I'm not telling my husband how much.# I guess you get what you pay for. Much clearer and sharper sound. I like the look of the bar better too. Much better! No place for my grandson's finger to go or distracting display. Instead of putting the bar on the shelf below I set this one in front of the TV. It sits about 2 inches below the TV #55 inch Samsung) so it doesn't interfere or get in the way of the TV's sensors. You barely notice it's there because of the color and thinness of it. I had a hard time with trying to get the TV and sound bar to link. I like using the TV's speakers with the sound bar. A lot easier on the old model but I figured it out so both are synched to raise or lower the volume on either the sound bar remote or my cable/TV remote. I hooked everything up myself. I'm a 60 year old woman. It might have taken me longer than somebody who is more techy but I did it myself. I did have to order a different kind of HDMI cable. The Rockfish brand heads makes for a very tight fit. The subwoofer is larger than the last one I had. Good bass sound. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I attached a picture of my setup.

    Excellent With Samsung Smart TV

I bought this sound bar to complement my 2013 Samsung UN506400AF 50” smart TV. The HW-F550 met my expectations, and then some. Set-up with this particular TV was effortless. The first time I turned on the sound bar, a dialog box appeared on the TV asking if I wanted to connect via SoundShare (Samsung’s implementation of Bluetooth). I hit OK and after a few seconds, TV audio started playing through the sound bar. It was that simple, and no audio cables were required. I then experimented with HDMI (ARC) and optical audio cables. These inputs worked equally well. To my ears, there is no difference in sound quality between HDMI (ARC), optical audio and Bluetooth. However, there are real differences in user experience among these three connection methods. For me, the clear all-around winner was HDMI (ARC). Only HDMI (ARC) allows me to use my choice of TV remote, cable box remote or sound bar remote to accomplish all of the following: * Power on the sound bar simultaneously with the TV with no delay before the sound bar kicks in * Turn off the sound bar simultaneously with the TV * Control the volume of the sound bar The HW-F550 mounts to a wall easily with the supplied bracket. Cable connections are very constricted between the unit and the wall, but there *is* enough space to run the power cord and any audio cable you’re using. Unfortunately, the HW-F550 uses a bulky power transformer that I was barely able to wedge into the recessed cable compartment behind the TV. Phooey on you, Samsung! The sound output is amazing. I’m no audiophile, but I can report with confidence that there is a night-and-day difference between the TV audio and the sound bar audio. If I had to put my finger on it, I’d say the biggest benefit is greatly increased presence - you feel like you’re part of the soundstage instead of being off in the distance. And it’s much easier now for me to make out whispered dramatic dialog in TV shows. The wireless subwoofer pumps out plenty of bass, which can be controlled by the sound bar remote. Quantity is not always quality, however, and I would characterize the bass as being a bit more muddy than tight. The subwoofer paired automatically with the sound bar proper from the get-go, and I’ve only had to manually pair it once. The subwoofer is responsible for more than just the lowest frequencies. If you unplug the subwoofer from the wall when the sound bar is playing, the slim bar by itself sounds positively tinny. Put the two components together, though, and you’ve got a powerhouse! This sound bar really shines if you use its Bluetooth capability to play music from your phone. When used in this fashion as a wireless Bluetooth speaker system, the HW-F550’s output is much richer than TV audio - and much richer, IMO, than any standalone Bluetooth speaker in the HW-F550’s price range. Both the slim bar and the subwoofer are stylish, heavy and well-constructed. The visual feedback on the bar in response to key presses on the remote is very helpful. I’m extremely satisfied with this product.

    Great sound for my Bedroom

I was blown away by this sound bar , by far it has many wonderful features, great clarity and sound. The different modes for gaming which i do a lot take it's sound to another level, music sounds great being able to walk around the house playing music from my phone and tablet as well as my Mac thru bluetooth is amazing . At the price you're getting something well worth it trust me. I mated the Samsung HW-55C Soundbar (SB) to my Sharp Aquos LCD TV, both of which were bought at BestBuy. 1 . Bluetooth - The set up was absolutely painless, and about as close to automatic as can be. With this option, you can control the SB volume with the TV remote. You must always manually turn on the SB (via power button or SB remote). When you turn off the TV, the SB will remain on for about 20 minutes with a crawling display of "TV Ready". 2 . Optical - You can use the SB remote to turn on "Auto Power" so the SB will turn on and off in sync with the TV. Unfortunately, your TV remote doesn't control the SB volume with the optical option. 3 . HDMI (ARC) - This option requires that you have an HDMI (ARC) compatible jack on your TV (my TV's was #2), and you must connect the SB "HDMI Out" jack to the TV's HDMI (ARC) jack. With this option, your TV remote will control the SB volume, and the SB will power down when you turn off the TV, but the SB must be manually turned on. This is the option I chose as the best compromise for my family because all I have to do is turn on the SB. In terms of performance, I really didn't pick up any difference in sound quality using any of the three connection methods. The sound is much richer than what you get with the TV's speakers. If you are into playing things at a high volume, it really delivers, and the volume set at 30 could be heard clearly thru out the house when playing Pandora. I placed the SB immediately in front of the TV's stand where it blends in very nicely, and is really unobtrusive. I understand this unit is updateable using a download loaded onto a USB thumb drive. I did notice that the thumb drive has to be formatted as a FAT 16 or 32, so you'll need to check it before you attempt it. Good job here Samsung, Hope this helps someone you won't be disappointed .

a nice soundbar but comes up short on subwoofer

This is the first soundbar that I have ever purchased. I had purchased a Samsung TV, Samsung DVD BluRay 3D player, a Sumsung keyboard, a Samsung Webcam for the TV and this Samsung soundbar. Easy setup... TV - beautiful picture but in my opinion needs some other sound source, easy setup with Samsung DVD BluRay 3D player, optional keyboard that I purchased for ease of use on internet, YouTube, etc. Webcam works fine. This is my opinion of this soundbar... easy setup... some nice features I really liked, some nice integration... but, quality of the subwoofer for dynamic bass sounds is lacking - Samsung needs to work on this a bit. I ended up returning it and going with an upgraded Klipsch sound bar and woofer that sounds much better in my opinion than the Samsung although it did cost a little bit more. I do not regret upgrading to a different soundbar. I know that sound is a matter of perception... At least for me, in spite of a nice remote and some sound features that were nice with Samsung, I did upgrade and now have the dynamic bass sounds I was looking for. There are many people on these reviews that are very happy with this soundbar.... It depends upon what you are looking for. It definitely is an upgrade in sound quality over the Samsung TV but if you are looking for more of a dynamic sound in the subwoofer category, I believe an upgrade may be worth considering... my opinion only. I exchanged in for Klipsch soundbar which cost a bit more and am mostly happy with that given an issue of two - maybe I am too discerning... So in my opinion, this soundbar delivers better sound than the Samsung TV, but if you are wanting more dynamic sound in music, DVD Blu Ray 3D players, etc., read the reviews carefully. You may want to upgrade to a better soundbar... I did not want to throw more money into a soundbar but I was happy I did. There was a noticable difference in sound quality for me at least. Sound can be a matter of perception. You will need to decide what you are looking for. All soundbars sound differenly once you get them setup in your home. There are a lot of choices out there and that adds to the difficulty in choosing the best one for you needs.... I however did manage to give this a rating of 4 for this sound system - maybe because some the features and a good remote but the real deficiency of this sound system is the bass subwoofer...

    Great Soundbar for the Price

I originally purchased a Bose Cinemate II for my bedroom and soon after realized that I had no where close to the module to put the HUGE Wired Subwoofer that would stick out in the middle of the room, so I had to return it. Granted this Samsung Soundbar is not a Bose, for its price it has pretty awesome sound. I am very pleased when I watch a movie that I hear the rumble from the subwoofer and even when I play music the sound quality is really good. The Subwoofer is wireless so I was able to place it anywhere in the bedroom that was out of the way, that is a huge plus. The only downside is that I have to turn the TV and Cablebox on with the Cablebox remote and then use the Soundbar remote to turn on the Soundbar, but what is funny is the Cablebox remote will turn everything off all at once. I have it all hooked up by HDMI Cable. There could be something I am missing even though I have read that other people are having the same problem. Overall the sound is better then what would come out of the TV and louder, for a bedroom this is perfect. I am satisfied with this purchase.

Great sound. The wireless subwoofer is great, but tends to cut out if placed more than 15 feet from the soundbar. The wireless function of the soundbar (good with Samsung TV's only) is at times intermittent. Samsung said that this is a known problem that can be resolved by connecting the soundbar to the TV with an optical cable. The optical cable supplied with the soundbar is an absurd 4" long, totally useless.

One of my biggest gripes about the new thin tvs is the loss of speaker quality. With such a great picture the speakers seem to under perform among all manufacturers. It seems that they just gave up on tthe audio quality and assume you are going to buy a seperate sound system for your new tv. I really wanted my sound system integral to my new TV so that I could turn the system off and on with only one button. With my 75" Samsung LED, the soundshare fit the bill perfectly. We did not need a sound system that would shake the walls but wanted some punch and tuning capability. Looks good, sounds great and is easy to sedt up and tune. One note is that many adjustment settings are only available on the soundbar menu but once set you will likely leave it alone.

Bought this soundbar to compliment a new flatscreen tv after reading multiple reviews and purchasing then returning another brand. Expectations were minimal but I was pleasantly surprised. Fairly easy setup though I felt sub-optimal documentation. Speakers paired easily right out of the box and after a few minutes tinkering the sound was to my liking. Clearly not top of the line sound but I bought it as an open box item with lesser anticipation for quality. The results are clearly better than expected. Crisp, clear sound with adequate separation of voice and music. Enough sound settings to meet my small viewing room needs. Also I find the low profile footprint to be an added pleasing feature. All in all I would recommend this Samsung soundbar so long as it is used in an appropriate setting. It's not going to fill a gym with sound but it is great to augment my family room tv.

I really do like this soundbar setup. Having a wireless subwoofer is definitely a plus - less wires is always nice. The sub has a good amount of punch too - I have mine up against the corner of my room near the TV for maximum effect. The 3D Sound Effect works well too - I have not tried any of the other equalization presets. The really nice thing about this is also the remote - it has a dedicated power button for the TV. It also automatically turns on once it detects an active source. My only two quibbles are regarding the connections and the information display. For connections, they are located in the middle of the rear of the soundbar, but for the optical connection they are located even further in the soundbar - it would be best if you refer to a connection diagram - it is just a bit weird. Secondly, the information display is a bit on the small side - and does not show particular information I would want - such as if it is in PCM or in Dolby Digital mode. It would be nice if the display were bigger so that it would not need to scroll each setting for so long for me to know what I am adjusting. Other than that, it has superb sound quality and works nicely for my uses.

    Great and slim soundbar

This is a great sounding soundbar and it looks good too. It is slim and actually doesn't need to use any wires at all. The only complaint I would have is that when you increase or decrease the volume with the TV remote, it just shows a graphic with moving dots going up or down rather than the volume level on the TV. The soundbar has a small display but I think it would be better if it showed a numerical level like it does when you use the built in speakers for the TV rather than the graphic. When you turn mute off, it shows the volume level numerically, but not when you increase or decrease volume. If any one (Samsung) knows how to change this, I would be appreciative. My Sony TV and Sony Soundbar shows the level on the TV which is nice.

I'm no audiophile but this system produces great, crystal clear sound. Works great in our little TV room. Have no need for a surround sound system with this product. Got very frustrated at trying to set it up as a wireless system because the salesperson told me it would be with the TV I bought at the same time, I called their help line and finally found someone who told me the TV model I had was one level away from being wireless. Hooking it up with a wire was not a big deal and don't mind it - just wish the salesperson had given me the straight scoop. Next time, I'm going to make them double check everything!

Great sound. Easy to pair via soundshare if Samsung TV is equipped with it. Otherwise difficult to pair via bluetooth so can connect via wire. If paired with soundshare then can control volume with one remote. If connected with wire need to use the remote that came with soundbar/subwoofer.

I was happy to find this soundbar at Best Buy. It was fairly expensive , but not nearly as much as some of the other brands. Also, the low profile fits below the TV screen and is not at all distracting while viewing. The subwoofer is wireless and does not need to be placed right next to the TV cabinet, a definite plus.

I had a $100 best buy certificate that I needed to get rid of before it expired. I spent several weekends going to different locations looking to spend it. I finally ran across a floor model that was on clearance for $99. No remote was included. I got the model #, and went over to the sound section and found the same one on the shelf. They were asking $399 for the same model. I connected my phone to it, cranked it up, and was amazed. I threw the floor model in the cart, and paid a grand total of $1.09, as I also had $5 left on a gift card. I took it home, threw it in the garage, and started jamming. I went online and bought the remote for it for like $15, including shipping. Now I have an awesome sound system for my man cave, and something to listen to when working on cars. All for less than $20. Take that, over priced sound systems!!

I got this sound bar and subwoofer because I read that the tv audio was not the best. I have never owned a 2.1 setup but this is great. I have it in my bedroom and the audio quality is wonderful for the price. The bluetooth connection is great . I have a samsung smart 3d tv and 3d blue ray player and set up was so easy when you connect with bluetooth. Its not a full surround system but it great for bedrooms. Would recomend this product.

I wanted a soundbar but I didn't want to spend too much on one. The clerk at the store recommended this product. It has everything I was looking for and more. The subwoofer is wireless, which is wonderful (no cables showing!). The soundbar itself is very thin and sits right in front of my tv. Because it is so thin, it doesn't block the tv screen at all. I figured the sound quality would be lacking given its small size but I was wrong. This little guy is extremely powerful! Clear sound and capable of very high volume. All around great product.
