    Looks good disappointment- warranty is the warning

    Thought spending pretty penny on a Samsung would be worth it. After all it looked great, had the features I wanted and was a good name brand. I forgot to pay attention to things like warranty and that just because you make great TVs doesn’t mean you know squat about making kitchen appliances. One year and two or three months into purchase noticed the ice trays in freezer (I use for cocktails) had a “glaze”to the ice as though the ice had been in the sun for minute or two. Two months later noticed the meat had thawed and there were no ice cubes. Finally called Samasung. So as I type this the repairman won’t be here for another week. I will be charged a $100 diagnostic fee, $100 labor fee and for whatever parts are needed for the repair. Note: if a warranty on a mid to high end product is ONE year (5 years for the stuff that doesn’t go bad) Then run...you might as well get a Kenmore...their stuff seems to last too long. BTW I suspect the electronics (not covered under the 5 year part) are the culprit. Long story short the compressor and cooling seems to work....but the fridge either stays on defrost to long or the temp sensors screwed up. Note and remember this... Samsung makes great phones....they should stick to that...#sofrustrated

    Looks are deceiving!

    This refrigerator is very sleek and beautiful I purchased it Jan of 2016. The style and size are great. Buyer beware! The produce drawers get food stuck in the crevasses and you cannot take the drawers apart without cracking the cheap plastic it is made of. The cold cut draw cracked after 2 months, Samsung replaced it. The worst part of this refrigerator is the Ice Maker. It doesn't make enough Ice, then it broke completely then the fan was overheating melting the ice and water was dripping inside the Refrigerator. Then Ice Frost began in the freezer, freezer burn on all my food. Samsung did nothing! I purchased the Geek Squad coverage and finally after almost 6 months with no Ice, I was approved for an exchange. Folks do your self a favor, buy the Geek Squad Protection Plan if your are buying anything with Samsung name! I'm looking for recommendations on a reliable American made brand. Feel free to comment.

    We were pretty happy with this fridge - it was part of an exchange for an LG that had failed under warranty. They brought out the first one, which never did get cold, and then the second one, which seemed to work pretty well. It was a counter depth, which was a big plus in our little kitchen, and seemed to produce a decent amount of ice for our family of three. Then, 9.5 months into the warranty, it stopped cooling. It's taken almost three weeks and multiple calls to Samsung, their repair service agents and Best Buy to get to the point that they're talking about doing an exchange/refund. Best Buy has been awesome, Samsung has sucked. They asked for proof of purchase and I sent in a copy of my receipt five days ago, and then again this morning when I received a call that it hadn't been received. Apparently technology giant Samsung can't receive email attachments larger than 2MG in their executive customer relations department. I would like to love this fridge and would give it five stars except for the fact that warranty service with Samsung sucks.

    I purchased this refrigerator over the pre black Friday sale. I had it delivered to my new home approximately 3 weeks after the purchase. Within about 3 days of having the refrigerator, it went out completely. I attempted to get an exchange but geek squad said I was outside of the return/exchange policy so I was referred to Samsung. Samsung send out 3rd party technicians 3 seperate times over a span of almost 2.5 weeks before the correct part was finally fixed. I'm not sure if mine was bad off the production line or some other reason. I have never had issues with any other major brands of appliances except Samsung. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because it works just fine, for now.

    French and Counter-Depth not a good combination

    For me, the main selling point for French style was the ability to fit big items in the fridge & freezer, e.g. a pizza box. Unfortunately, the shallow depth of the Counter-Depth (& the compressor in the bottom back) means that the biggest pizza box I can fit in the freezer is SMALLER than my previous side-by-side. Needless to say, I returned this and got the side-by-side model. On a side note, while I like Samsung's actual appliances, buyer beware: their customer service is practically non-existent.

    Great Fridge, Terrible Ice Maker

    I love the fridge which is why I hate to give a 2 star review. My parents bought the same fridge a month after I purchased mine. After 6 months we both started having ice making issues. My parents had a new ice maker installed. After one year and now out of warranty we both cannot go more than 2 days without the ice maker freezing up. I shut mine off and now it won't turn back on. The fridge is only 19 months old and no ice maker, my parents is 18 months old and they have to unclog the ice maker multiple times weekly.

    Can't even clean the coils yourself

    I have owned this fridge for ~1 year, and just went to clean the coils. I found that they've used a coil assembly that's so tightly packed together you can't clean it with a standard coil brush. I called into Samsung, and they actively refused to tell me how to clean the coils. What gives? Cleaning the compressor coils is one of the most basic and important parts of maintaining the fridge. This is awful at a very basic level. Stay clear of this model.

    Bad design...bad customer service

    The ice maker has been a issue from the beginning..not a family size!, leaks constantly..was replaced and they have had a big problem with them according to service guy..now the whole unit stopped cooling..food spoiling and the smell..was told 2 days..now it’s 4-5 days..bad protection coverage is not Geek squad is AIG..it is subbed out no control over schedule..do not recommend this refrigerator or the protection plan!

    Delivery/installers didn't understand how to connect the water or how to level the unit plus they left styrofoam in the yard and house. During carry in of the unit they would have hit the top of the door and walls with the refrigerator if I had not been with them to point it out and stop them. They also new limited english. I recommend the refrigerator and that you discuss delivery ahead of time to ensure that you get a good crew.

    It’s ok. Not really worth the price. Unable to adjust shelves. Only able to put drink containers on the door on one side unable to utilize the door space on the side of the ice maker. Should of went with our original idea and got the side by side would have had a lot more room. The only benefit is the freezer as it does have a lot of room and is similar to a chest freezer

    Worst Icemaker EVER!

    Bought this refrigerator 11/14. I wish I had paid more attention to the capacity of the Icemaker. Not only is it tiny, it only dispenses crushed ice, not matter the setting. Had it fixed once, problem persists. I like the refrigerator, but if you use ice, you won't be happy with this product.

    As a family of 2 we knew we were purchasing a smaller refrigerator but expected it to produce enough ice for the 2 of us. We run out of ice daily. Have to buy a bag of ice from the store to make up the difference and be able to also serve guests.

    The biggest problem with this item is the delay in time it takes to dispense ice and water, there is a big delay before it will dispense. I'm also very disappointed in the size of the freezer its smaller than I realized. Very disappointed in this refrigerator

    Had high hopes for the refrigerator, but we’re sadly disappointed. Cam dented and the ice machine is horrible. Expected more from Samsung based on other appliances and tech items we have from them.

    Fridge was fine but ongoing issues with ice maker....noise, leaking, slushy ice even despite the 5 repairs from geek squad. Ice maker also made very little ice.

      I'm sorry to hear you aren't impressed with your RF23HCEDBSR, but perhaps these tips will help to improve your experience. I'm not sure what you mean by the ice maker "struggles" when releasing cubes, but if it's producing less than the 5.9 lbs of ice per day that it's capable of, it may help to review the user manual and online troubleshooting guide that can be found on Samsung's website. Keep in mind the Refrigerator shelves can be adjusted, so perhaps moving/adjusting them will help to better utilize the space based on your storage needs. Finally, the doors and drawer front are indeed metal - it's real stainless steel and should be cleaned using a stainless steel cleaner.
