The fridge controls are impossible. To turn on or off any of the features, you must first "unlock" the other buttons by pressing and holding the "unlock" button. Then you can press and hold, again, to select you features. My call to the 800 number confirmed this is intended design. Samsung representative expressed his shock. I'm returning this fridge for this reason, but on top of that, the door handles being hidden make it confusing to use as well.

I've been using this refrigerator for about 6 months and I purchased it as part of a "suite" of four Samsung kitchen appliances. The pros and cons are as follows: PROS - Fairly quiet, sleek, handle-free design (subjective) and fairly positive reviews in a consumer magazine. CONS - Ice cube maker had to be repaired by Geek Squad under warranty, fingerprints show despite claim of being print resistant, replacement water filters are absurdly expensive, ice maker takes up too much room, some in-door storage compartments are awkward to use. Lastly, I think I'd prefer a larger main refrigerator area and forgo the "chill" drawer. While I still like the look of the handle-free design and the four appliance Samsung suite pricing seemed like a good deal, some of this refrigerator's practical drawbacks would make me want to reconsider this purchase if I had to do it all over again.

There weren't that many options available to me when it came time to replace my old cabinet depth fridge, but I'm glad this one was available. The fridge is a perfect fit, extremely quiet, and has plenty of storage space available. The FlexZone is extremely convenient with adjustable temperature settings. It's a great place to store deli goods and smaller items that are easily accessible without having to open the main doors. The auto fill infuser is a nice addition but it's not perfect and has overflowed a couple of times in the month or so that I have owned this fridge. The first time was right after install and there was water everywhere. I chalked it up to excess air still in the water lines and subsequent overflows have been minor. The recessed handles give the fridge a clean look and cut down on what are already pretty thick doors. Not having exterior handles saves space, but it also increases the amount of smudges you will have on the so called "fingerprint-proof" coating from regular usage. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably opt for the Black Steel version as I believe it is less prone to smudging. Energy Saving mode is pretty standard these days and I have noticed slight condensation on the glass shelves in the fridge and a light frost from time to time on my frozen goods. Not bad enough for me to switch it off, but it's something to monitor to ensure that it doesn't get any worse which could lead to bigger problems down the road. The biggest downside to this fridge is the manufacture's clarification on it's wifi capabilities. The instruction manual states that a specific appliance wifi dongle is needed and warns against using dongles that are not specifically made for this fridge. I have yet been able to locate such a dongle and the closest I've been able to find is their laundry dongle. It's not that big of a deal but it would have been nice to have. Overall it's a great fridge and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, sleek, counter depth fridge.

    Nice so Far

I've heard a lot of negative reviews about Samsung appliances, even from my own parents, so I was reluctant to go with one here. But, bang for the buck, this was by far the best option that was available at the time of my home purchase. It's not perfect, but I've had no problems at all operationally this early on. Of course. time will always tell the tale. Pros: - Beautiful unit. It really is an eye catcher with it's sleek and modern look, so if aesthetics are important to you, this checks that box. - Performance to date has been fine. The refrigerator and freezer both hold their temperatures nicely. The middle drawer has adjustable temps and has served as an adequate wine cooler. - The ice maker works! - so far. This has been one of the primary complaints about Samsung refrigerators. I've had no issues this far, but it is still early. The ice maker does make small and somewhat odd looking ice, but since I'm not really a heavy ice user, this is not an issue for me. - Ample space inside. If you have a large family, it will probably get cramped quickly but for everyone else, it seems to have sufficient room for the essentials and more. - No frills exterior. Simple and functional with only controls for the water and regular/crushed ice. Everything else is controlled internally from easily accessible buttons on the middle tray. - Seems to be quiet, despite me reading some reviews that said it could be noisy. But it's been a non-issue for me. Maybe it gets loud when the ice falls, but you know, gravity? Cons (or just things to note) - The stainless on this thing must have a magnetic attraction for fingerprints and stains. All stainless can be tough to keep clean, but something about this unit just screams 'wash it every time you touch it, wear gloves, or else!' The fact that it doesn't have handles likely contributes to this, as you are touching the door near the top pretty much every time you open it (or bottom, if you are short). - The doors are not always easy to close. The don't pull themselves shut from any distance like many refrigerators, and you actually have to put a little force behind them to seal. It's minor, but rather annoying. Some actually might find this a perk, as while loading up, the doors stay open. But for me, I'd rather have a fridge whose doors were engineered to lean towards always closing. It seems so far to be a nice machine. Buy the extended warranty for a little peace of mind, and you will hopefully be OK. Rated at four stars because of the fact that it really tough to keep the exterior clean and the door thing does bother more than it perhaps should, so it's not a perfect five! If you need a refrigerator that's wide and counter-depth and want to avoid handle protrusions, this might be the best one out there!

    Ice Maker/ Freezer issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had this refrigerator for approximately 2 years & in that time, over a dozen service calls! As many here have already commented, there are known & significant problems with the ice maker & freezer—which include constant moisture & frost in the freezer, jammed ice maker & now water leaking everywhere. In terms of looks & storage, I have no complaints however the overwhelming functional issues far outweigh the pros! The ICE MAKER: It is well documented that the ice maker on this model has issues [there is/was a class action suit]. It has been suggested the problem is due to locating the ice maker in the refrigerator section. It lacks adequate insulation to maintain a consistent temperature to keep the ice frozen. That results in dripping, melting & then freezing over, which jams the ice maker & shuts it down. I cannot count how many times mine has stopped working. I have spent hours defrosting it! When I am finally able to remove the ice compartment—which can take 2 hours of defrosting—the inside is completely encased in ice. I have had the ice maker replaced twice along with several other parts but what was initially a freezing problem has now become a leaking problem. I now have a steady drip of water coming from the ice maker. Cubes come out melting & water drips through my shelves, door & onto my floor. THE FREEZER: Since the day I got it, there has been an issue with frost & moisture in the freezer. I have constant freezer burn on whatever food is stored there because food is warming & then re-freezing. It is not uncommon for ice cream to be slightly melted or ice pops to be completely deformed because they have melted & then refrozen. After 12+ service calls—which have caused unlimited days & hours spent waiting on technicians—no one has been able to resolve this. My ice maker has been replaced twice along with numerous other parts in both the refrigerator & freezer. There is no problem with the seal & I do not open & close it continuously letting in warmer air as has been suggested. I can open the freezer after it has not been opened for 48 hours & find frost everywhere. The pros of this model are the clean lines & no handles but because of the lack of handles, fingerprints are a nightmare! This is not "fingerprint proof' as claimed. Like all other stainless surfaces, it shows fingerprints & because you cannot grab a handle to open the door, you will likely grab other parts of the door. That said, it is not an issue for me because it’s easy to wipe off. I also love the water pitcher. I don’t use it for infused water but rather a quick & easy way to fill a coffee pot, humidifier or other items that require water. I wish Samsung would figure this out & come out with another model without handles that looks as good but also functions!

The frig is exellent. Nicely laid out. Great freezer. We love the drawer, which we use for deli (cheeses and meats). One change we made is removing the top bin on the right door so we now have more space for tall items. The one issue I had was some dripping from the ice maker that ended up being caused by a defective flap valve at the ice dispenser. It has been fixed, and all is well now. Even with this problem I would have given the frig 5 stars if the call center had not taken so long to dispatch a competent tech to diagnose and fix the issue. At first the CC denied there was an issue, then they sent a tech who was wrong. The second time, with a different tech, was a charm.

This refrigerator is great!!! I am surprised at the things I like the most. My kids use the water pitcher more than I ever thought they would. It is a great way to fill water bottles and keep up with drinking more water. I like the middle drawer flexibility. I was concerned about buying a counter depth refrigerator and losing space. I had already given up my garage refrigerator and was down sizing to this size. I am glad to see it has suited us well. We don't lose things in the back of the fridge like most of us do in a bigger refrigerator. It was easy to put something in and have it get lost in the back and now that is not a problem. I don't buy more than I need and don't waste food. I do wish it had more space for larger things like milk, but I took one of the drawers out of the door and now I can hold milk, almond milk, coffee cream, orange juice and tea with no problems. I am obsessed with finger prints and it is nice to be able to easily wipe the fridge down. It stays clean and looks nice. It is a great purchase and I am glad I bought this model. Best Buy goes above and beyond with their customer service and it really shows. They offer the best price and the best customer service. They really seem to care about their customers. I researched many models and many stores before making this purchase. This was a great choice!! Oh, and it is quiet too.

I just got this fridge and was a little nervous since it was our first cabinet depth one. I didn't think it would have much room but actually it seems to work much better than anticipated. Our last fridge was a side-by-side and this is much easier to use than that one. The fridge looks great but does pick up finger prints easily. We keep a soft towel close to wipe it down when we get a chance. The 4 stars is only because out of nowhere the freezer became warmer than expected and it seemed to take a while to cool off. It only happened once but it was weird. I even put the "powercool" feature on and it took a while.

Great Fridge That Adapts To Your Lifestyle

This fridge was designed by people who actually use their fridge everyday. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of some of the upgraded fridges but it is very good at what is included with this unit. At 23 cubic feet, it's not the largest refrigerator but there is not a single inch of space wasted. The double doors open wide to reveal multiple shelves, some that retract on themselves or fold up for when you need just a bit more height for the Thanksgiving turkey or bottle of soda. The doors themselves feature plenty of storage space; I was able to fit half a gallon of milk AND a six pack of bottled soda onto one shelf within the door! The self-filling water pitcher is a brilliant idea that lives inside one of the doors. The center sliding drawer features four variable temperature options which is great for beverage cans, extra meats or even snacks like yogurt and can be customized for your desired layout. The double level freezer has ample room for several frozen pizzas, ice blocks or more. The twin cooling feature is surprisingly effective at keeping the fridge moist (think veggies) and the freezer dry (say goodbye to freezer burn). The fridge runs very quiet, so much so that I thought it wasn't plugged in! Cons: Creates small amount of ice - enough for drinks, not enough for your weekend picnic Modern design with no external door handles makes this a fingerprint magnet (easy to clean though) Doors don't automatically swing closed; needs a heavy hand to do so Pros: Folding and retracting shelves provide instant, simple customization of layout PLENTY of space for food of all shapes and sizes Very quiet Ample lighting for late night snack runs or early morning water from the door Easy to clean

I was hesitant to purchase another Samsung product... a range I bought about 6 years ago was fine but a dishwasher that I bought only a couple of years ago is a disaster. Basis reviews it seemed this refrigerator was as good as any comparable ones so I took a chance. It has worked fine for the year and a half I've owned it. The cafe door style probably isn't as efficient for freezer vs refrigerated space as a side by side but the flex drawer is fun and the auto-refill water pitcher on the inside door is cool. The ice is unimpressive- very cloudy with air and not a great volume available (I keep several ice trays in the freezer). The 'fingerprint resistant' claim is ridiculous, but wiping down the front every once in a while is hardly onerous.. The delivery and set up people contracted for my delivery area in MA by Best Buy were awful- be sure to watch their every move to be safe and don't take any guff from them when they try to pressure you into signing off on the install if you're dissatisfied. I called Best Buy and registered my complaints and concerns while they were still there (threatening to take the unit back out if I didn't sign) and noted that call on the papers I signed. My family went shopping for a counter depth fridge to replace the aging monstrosity of a fridge we had that intruded from the cabinets about 9 or so inches. I read hundreds of reviews and had been leary of Samsung due to reported issues with the ice maker being in the fridge, not the freezer. Looking at many brands, none had what we wanted, until we found this model. A great sale brought the price into our budget, so I decided to give it a chance. It's been installed for about three weeks now. The ice cubes are frozen solid, it's very quiet, and it holds plenty of food for a family of three. Alleviating most of the fears I had in making this purchase. I can admit I love my samsung phones and televisions, bit have been hesitant on buying their appliances do to some of the horror stories out there. So far, the only issue I have with the fridge is that the self filling water pitcher in the door leaks at the gasket when pouring. I haven't messed with it yet to see what the trouble is, so can't elaborate further. For those with a tight space, something to take note of: The French doors hinges are about mid point into the depth of the door. This causes the doors to extend past the edge of the sides when you open them creating possible fitment issues in tight spaces (My issue is a pantry wall on one side of the refrigerator. The other side is cabinets, and there are no issues with fitment on that side). I think a kitchen with cabinets on either side of this refrigerator will be fine. If theres a wall on either side, make some measurements of your space and this fridge.

I bought this frig, despite the fact that consumer reports said it had a poor icemaker. I’m actually very happy with the frig. Space is great. It keeps temp accurately everywhere it should. The water dispenser and water pitcher are great. The filter water dispenses cold. I use the pitcher to fill my coffee maker in the morning. The drawer makes a great space for my family for deli (cheese, lunch meats, and v-8 cans). The freezer is large and useable. It’s stylish, quiet, and a great step up over my last frig. The icemaker works well enough in terms of quantity. I think all of these French door frigs suffer from having an ice maker in what is a frig, instead of a freezer. The result is that ice fragments that stay in the chute melt a bit over time, so one has to mop up pools of water in the water dispensing shelf every so often. It also has a habit of dispensing somewhat fragmented cubes instead of full cubes. So basically, it works, but suffers from not storing and dispensing ice from the freezer. I’m fine with it. My wife barely tolerates it, but we both love the frig.

The Samsung 22.6 Cu. 4-door Flex French Door refrigerator looks amazing in my kitchen. I can move the shelves in the positions I need. I love the automatic water pitcher which is so handy. I pour a glass of water for myself & as soon as I put the pitcher back I can hear it being refilled within seconds. The Flex drawer is great for all my deli meats, beverages & anything else I may want to stay colder. I really like the fact that I can turn off the water dispenser so I can clean in that area. I just pressed the water button for 3 seconds and it turns off. I didn't think I had a light on the water dispenser but found out if I press on the crushed ice button for 3 seconds that the light stays on. My previous refrigerator was a 25 Cu. ft but this is the right size for me as it's only me. Plenty of space for what I need. Cleaning the outside is a breeze. A soft cloth will get any smudges off in a jiffy, which are few & far between. I've had my fridge for a little over a month & love it. Keeps all my food at just the right temp. I couldn't be more pleased. The installers were great too. They checked the level over three times to make sure it was level. Installers were so careful when they delivered. They also were very polite & knowledgeable. I will be buying all my appliances from Best Buy from now on. You won't regret buying if you choose this model.
