    Ice Maker and Cooling Issues

We’ve had this refrigerator now for about 2 years. Since the beginning, we’ve had ice maker issues. Apparently, the ice maker for this model has known issues. We constantly experience ice buildup that eventually becomes an ice dam that will block all ice production. The ice maker has been replaced once and we’ve had a technician out on at least 5 other occasions to clear away ice build up and to apply the “latest manufacturer’s update” which never really addresses the problem - an apparent poor design. The frequency of the ice damming has gotten so bad that I bought myself the same steamer the technicians use and have just become accustom to melting away the ice buildup about every 2 weeks - basically trying to stay ahead of an actual ice dam. The other complaint about the ice maker is its low capacity. If your household uses a lot of ice, then you’ll be very disappointed. Unless we’re on vacation for a few days, we never see the ice tray full; it is usually almost empty or completely empty and someone has had to go without ice. The inside left door auto-fill water pitcher with infuser quickly became an unused feature. At first, it seemed like a great idea and we used it for lemon-infused water. However, after a few weeks we stopped using it and would forget about the lemons in the infuser and when we finally would remember, it would be kind of gross to clean. Given that we had a water-fill feature on the outside of the door, we didn’t really need to have a pitcher holding water on the inside. I suppose it is nice that it holds cold water for you but for us it was really just a waste of space. I would prefer to reclaim that space. After about a year of having this refrigerator, we started to notice the xZone (i.e., middle drawer) and freezer not cooling the way it should. Ice cream in the freezer would be soft and the xZone was noticably not cold at all. And even before we made the connection that something wasn’t right, we had already set the settings to their coldest setting. We had to throw away a lot of food and yes, we did fill out a spoiled food claim. So, I bought a couple of refrigerator thermometers and they confirmed the temps were really off. The xZone was reading in the low 50s and the freezer in the high 20s when they should have been 29 for the xZone and -8 for the freezer. I setup an appointment where a technician came out an assessed the issue and confirmed that they were off and diagnosed the issue as the dampers for both the xZone and freezer needing to be replaced as they were not opening to allow cooler air to come in. So a new appointment was made for a week later, parts were delivered, and the dampers were replaced. That fixed the issue - but only temporarily. About 2 months go by and the same thing - xZone temp back up to low 50s and the freezer at 28/29 degrees. I schedule a service call, takes a week, and the technician now says it is the control board. That is now on order and will be 2 weeks before it can be installed. I don’t have the confidence that it will fix the problem for the long term. Meanwhile, I’ll have to submit a new spoiled food claim. Ugh!!! Thankfully, we have a 5-year service plan so all the service visits are covered. However, it is a big inconvenience to a) manage the ice maker the way I have to and b) have cooling issues in the xZone and freezer that put the food at risk.

This beautiful refrigerator is like having a large refrigerated and organized "closet"!! There are bins for everything....an always full and ready water pitcher (try finding that on another model!!), shelves that adjust every-which-way, an ice and water maker that is so flatten into the placement on the back of the ft door, you can still have bins on top of it!!! The drawer in the center front can hold soooo much and it flexes to what ever temperature you need it to! The refrigerator is very quiet, and being counter top depth, looks almost "built in" rather than just placed there. It is soooo pretty!! Being handleless, it blends to other appliances I still need to pick out and does not need to be "handle matched" to blend in as a matched set!! Few refrigerators have a flip covered (butter?) bin....this one does!! The freezer is big and deep, and unlike some refrigerator freezer drawers I have seen, pulls far enough out exposing the entire back depth of drawer and deep freezer bins. No reaching far....back.... into the depth of the drawer and bins that does not extend and expose all the spaces. I researched a lot of refrigerators, and this more that met all my desires and was priced better than the more expensive models that were still missing some of these features!! Best Buy was The Best of all my searching in customer service and price!! I will never shop the other places again when Best Buy has all the best choices, prices and customer service!! The salespeople were soooo great to work with!!!! They listened to my needs, and cared!!! I was looking at other models there, and they actually took me to this model and showed me that it had all my requirements, even as I was looking at those that didn't and was I was ready to spend more to get them...and this was for less money!!!! They took care of me!!!! Not just sold a refrigerator!!!!! You will LOVE this refrigerator........and those people that will help you buy it!!!!!!!! The best of everything!!!!!!

I've heard a lot of negative reviews about Samsung appliances, even from my own parents, so I was reluctant to go with one here. But, bang for the buck, this was by far the best option that was available at the time of my home purchase. It's not perfect, but I've had no problems at all operationally this early on. Of course. time will always tell the tale. Pros: - Beautiful unit. It really is an eye catcher with it's sleek and modern look, so if aesthetics are important to you, this checks that box. - Performance to date has been fine. The refrigerator and freezer both hold their temperatures nicely. The middle drawer has adjustable temps and has served as an adequate wine cooler. - The ice maker works! - so far. This has been one of the primary complaints about Samsung refrigerators. I've had no issues this far, but it is still early. The ice maker does make small and somewhat odd looking ice, but since I'm not really a heavy ice user, this is not an issue for me. - Ample space inside. If you have a large family, it will probably get cramped quickly but for everyone else, it seems to have sufficient room for the essentials and more. - No frills exterior. Simple and functional with only controls for the water and regular/crushed ice. Everything else is controlled internally from easily accessible buttons on the middle tray. - Seems to be quiet, despite me reading some reviews that said it could be noisy. But it's been a non-issue for me. Maybe it gets loud when the ice falls, but you know, gravity? Cons (or just things to note) - The stainless on this thing must have a magnetic attraction for fingerprints and stains. All stainless can be tough to keep clean, but something about this unit just screams 'wash it every time you touch it, wear gloves, or else!' The fact that it doesn't have handles likely contributes to this, as you are touching the door near the top pretty much every time you open it (or bottom, if you are short). - The doors are not always easy to close. The don't pull themselves shut from any distance like many refrigerators, and you actually have to put a little force behind them to seal. It's minor, but rather annoying. Some actually might find this a perk, as while loading up, the doors stay open. But for me, I'd rather have a fridge whose doors were engineered to lean towards always closing. It seems so far to be a nice machine. Buy the extended warranty for a little peace of mind, and you will hopefully be OK. Rated at four stars because of the fact that it really tough to keep the exterior clean and the door thing does bother more than it perhaps should, so it's not a perfect five! If you need a refrigerator that's wide and counter-depth and want to avoid handle protrusions, this might be the best one out there!

    Great Refrigerator ... terrible support.

We purchased the black stainless version of the fridge back in January. Although this model had been out since 2016, availability was scarce from all the major brick & mortars. Ours was delivered with a dent to the side surface of one of the drawers. Getting the replacment was a logistical nightmare as Samsung availability was as I stated, scarce and replacement parts were even harder to come by. A new fridge was finally delivered as this was the procedure to get the drawer panel replaced. Strange. And the replacement unit also arrived with a smallish dent at the bottom of the bottom drawer. Perhaps there is a production line QA issue. In attempting to locate the drawer and seal on our own to help out - directly from Samsung - we learned how terrible Samsung USA & Samsung Parts dot com - their US based distribution contact - operated in supporting the more esoteric models like this one. These folks sent out the wrong seal and were a complete hassle to deal with. It took months to get the panel and the seal/gasket assembly in from Korea/California. And although it was easy to ascertain the required part numbers from drawings available online, Samsung Parts dot com were oblivious to what was being ordered and what was really sent. In any event, apart from the support nightmare, we are VERY pleased with the functional design and performance of this counter depth fridge. It's quiet, it's super energy efficient and it is laid out perfectly for our needs. The color tone is a great match to our other GE Profile appliances and the surface cleans up nicely with ease. The filter cartridge system is better than many other systems and does a nice job of freshening up the dispensed water & ice. Some may complain about the volume of ice produced but we find that it is plenty for us and the system produces ice quickly. The in-drawer controls are excellent and the dispenser controls in the door are great. No drips from the spout and good performance between cubed & crushed ice. If you're looking for a counter depth refrigerator with clean lines and no protruding handles - check this model out. Just be aware that if service and/or parts are required, there may be issues with obtaining critical parts. Even with that said, we highly recommend this product... we just hope it lasts and that the support mechanisms are improved by Samsung in the event it needs future service.

There weren't that many options available to me when it came time to replace my old cabinet depth fridge, but I'm glad this one was available. The fridge is a perfect fit, extremely quiet, and has plenty of storage space available. The FlexZone is extremely convenient with adjustable temperature settings. It's a great place to store deli goods and smaller items that are easily accessible without having to open the main doors. The auto fill infuser is a nice addition but it's not perfect and has overflowed a couple of times in the month or so that I have owned this fridge. The first time was right after install and there was water everywhere. I chalked it up to excess air still in the water lines and subsequent overflows have been minor. The recessed handles give the fridge a clean look and cut down on what are already pretty thick doors. Not having exterior handles saves space, but it also increases the amount of smudges you will have on the so called "fingerprint-proof" coating from regular usage. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably opt for the Black Steel version as I believe it is less prone to smudging. Energy Saving mode is pretty standard these days and I have noticed slight condensation on the glass shelves in the fridge and a light frost from time to time on my frozen goods. Not bad enough for me to switch it off, but it's something to monitor to ensure that it doesn't get any worse which could lead to bigger problems down the road. The biggest downside to this fridge is the manufacture's clarification on it's wifi capabilities. The instruction manual states that a specific appliance wifi dongle is needed and warns against using dongles that are not specifically made for this fridge. I have yet been able to locate such a dongle and the closest I've been able to find is their laundry dongle. It's not that big of a deal but it would have been nice to have. Overall it's a great fridge and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, sleek, counter depth fridge.

Great Fridge That Adapts To Your Lifestyle

This fridge was designed by people who actually use their fridge everyday. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of some of the upgraded fridges but it is very good at what is included with this unit. At 23 cubic feet, it's not the largest refrigerator but there is not a single inch of space wasted. The double doors open wide to reveal multiple shelves, some that retract on themselves or fold up for when you need just a bit more height for the Thanksgiving turkey or bottle of soda. The doors themselves feature plenty of storage space; I was able to fit half a gallon of milk AND a six pack of bottled soda onto one shelf within the door! The self-filling water pitcher is a brilliant idea that lives inside one of the doors. The center sliding drawer features four variable temperature options which is great for beverage cans, extra meats or even snacks like yogurt and can be customized for your desired layout. The double level freezer has ample room for several frozen pizzas, ice blocks or more. The twin cooling feature is surprisingly effective at keeping the fridge moist (think veggies) and the freezer dry (say goodbye to freezer burn). The fridge runs very quiet, so much so that I thought it wasn't plugged in! Cons: Creates small amount of ice - enough for drinks, not enough for your weekend picnic Modern design with no external door handles makes this a fingerprint magnet (easy to clean though) Doors don't automatically swing closed; needs a heavy hand to do so Pros: Folding and retracting shelves provide instant, simple customization of layout PLENTY of space for food of all shapes and sizes Very quiet Ample lighting for late night snack runs or early morning water from the door Easy to clean

We purchased this refrigerator in 4/2018. Our prior refrigerator was a freezer on top that was around 15 years old. Cons: 1. The ice maker has never worked. As indicated by other reviews, the ice melts and then refreezes in the holder locking the whole thing up. Ice chunks and/or water randomly falls, runs and drips out of the dispenser. I finally just turned off the ice dispenser and stopped using it. I tried changing the temperature settings as recommended to other reviewers and it did NOT resolve the issue. I haven't tried yet to have it serviced to see if it can be fixed because I'm dreading that process. 2. The water dispenser is slow. We use the pitcher inside the door way more than I anticipated because it takes so long to fill a glass of water. 3. The drawer inside of the freezer is constantly coming off the track so it doesn't work smoothly. 4. If you open the door on the left as you are facing the fridge first, the flap doesn't completely open and then bangs on the other door when you try to close it. 5. Shelves aren't adjustable. I can't remember if I knew this before we purchased it or not. It is more inconvenient than I would have anticipated. The only place to put taller items such as half or gallon jugs is in the door slot or there is one shelf that slides open. This practically makes all of the space above that open shelf unusable. 6. We have the stainless steel finish and it fingerprints and streaks terribly. I hesitate to list this one since we had an idea this would happen when we purchased the refrigerator. It might help someone else though. It would also be nice if the bottom drawer would self close. The Samsung so far is a lot quieter which it should be when compared to a 15 year old refrigerator. This is except when we try to use the ice maker. It pops and cracks and drops ice as indicated above. We do like having the refrigerator on top although the freezer drawer could work better.

After 40 years of side-by-side refrigerators, we finally purchased our first French door refrigerator. We love this one! The wider (than side-by-side) refrigerator section makes it easier to organize and keep organized. The middle drawer is great for lunch meats and soft drinks. Frequent items can go in the middle drawer so family members can get lunch or snacks without digging thought the rest of the fridge. My absolute favorite feature is the water pitcher just inside the left door. It automatically refills! No matter how much is poured out, it refills within 60 seconds. We always have a pitcher of filtered ice cold water to refill out water bottles -- so much better than trying to use the water in the door -- which isn’t as cold and sprays everywhere except into the water bottle. The ONE thing we’re not wild about is the capacity of the ice maker -- we are a "high ice use family” and this ice maker barely keeps up with our demand. We love this refrigerator. There is one little thing to mention. In the owner’s manual it states that 4 spacers are include to level the two doors. After looking everywhere for the spacers, I called Samsung and they tried to sell me said spaces. It wasn’t until I told them to come pick up the refrigerator (because the manual said the spacers are included and they wanted to charge me for them) that they said they would send the spacer for free. I was annoyed that I paid ~$3,000 for a refrigerator and they wanted to charge me for parts that probably were worth less than $5. Other than I/m happy.

    Good fridge but major flaws

We bought this refrigerator from BestBuy just over a year ago and had no issues for the first 8 months we owned it. Since that time it has been an ongoing source of problems. This has been made worse by the horrible customer support of Samsung. If you really like this refrigerator, I would not buy it without purchasing the BestBuy additional coverage because you will have problems and Samsung service is terrible to deal with. The first problem was a faulty control board which shutdown the unit and we were without a refrigerator for almost a month while they looked for parts, sent two different repair people to our home - all while enduring countless phone calls and multiple reschedules of our service appointments. The issue since then is the ice maker building up frost and eventually causing the ice exiting the tray to dam up against the wall of the compartment and stopping ice making. This is a known issue and you can find other people online experiencing this same problem. After waiting two weeks from the initial call, we finally got a repair person to come to our house. The fix they made only worked temporarily and we are now waiting again to have someone come back out as the same problem is reoccurring. Overall, we like the refrigerator but for the money we paid, we should not be having these issues on a unit that is less than 2 years old. I would honestly not recommend this or any other Samsung appliance to anyone. They make great personal electronics, but have not been impressed with the durability of any of their appliances we have owned. This will be the last one we buy.

The Samsung fridge is sleek, elegant, quiet and its surprisingly spacious. I was worried about the lack of space because it has a another part for a controlled temperature zone, but I was wrong. There is plenty of space! I was a bit worried about not having handles on the fridge and how it might feel weird opening it, but surprisingly it felt normal. The recessed handles makes the fridge look built-in and it's nice that I'm not always bumping into handles! The built-in water pitcher is a great feature. I love how it refills automatically and you can add lemon, lime, or fruits to infuse the water for better taste. The led lighting is very bright and lights up all the corners of the fridge. The flex zone seems really interesting. It has 4 different temperature zones and you can place different items in each zone such as wine, meat, cheese and beverages. I haven't seen other fridges that have this feature; I'm still learning how to use this compartment for controlled temperatures. I'm currently testing it by storing soft drinks and cheese in the middle drawer. I love the idea of having a bottom drawer freezer. The only complaint I have is I wish there were more space. Compared to my old fridge, its about the same size. The freezer is functional and it has a easy to roll plastic tray in the freezer as well. I've read a lot of complaints about the ice maker; leaking/not making enough ice (we don't really use a lot of ice in general). I haven't had a problem with it yet, but I will update my review if I do come across an issue. The fridge isn't really fingerprint proof. It does leave smudges, but it's super easy to wipe off with a dry towel and definitely a lot better than other stainless steel fridges that leaves fingerprints. Overall, I am pleased with this refrigerator and I would recommend it to those who are in the market for one.

    Beautiful Fridge, but it scratches

I gave up my black glossy 28 cf Samsung refrigerator during a kitchen remodel to go with a counter depth to gain more room. Black stainless seemed to be the only option for most of the applicances I was looking for - stove and new fridge. In order for them to match, I went with all 3 in black stainless (added a new microwave). This fridge is beautiful and everyone seems to comment on how "nice" it looks - without the handles, it gives more space to walk past, and looks very sleek and impressive. I love the color of the black stainless. When the techs delivered the stove (different day), they commented on how beautiful the fridge is, but - WARNING - they said. . . it scratches. Apparently, any metal will create a permanent scratch. This surprisingly includes magnets. Who doesn't put magnets on the front of their fridge? I had two small ones on the front of the fridge for the 3 weeks I've had it, and when I took them off to make sure they aren't scratching . . . they had already. I haven't found a way to get them out. They aren't very noticeable, but I know they're there . . . and my fridge is ONLY 3 weeks old. Very disappointed that the black stainless scratches so easily, and even more disappointed that no one told me in advance. I don't mind not having magnets on the front of the fridge, but I do mind it being easily scratched with no solution. The inside of the fridge is wonderful and I love the refillable pitcher. I use tea bags in the infuser and always have fresh iced tea. I also love the middle drawer - can use it for vegs, beer, wine, or a freezer. Versatile. I really do love the fridge; even though it's much smaller than what I had before, it's working out OK for me. It's a nice design and I think they've done a nice job maximizing the space.

My family went shopping for a counter depth fridge to replace the aging monstrosity of a fridge we had that intruded from the cabinets about 9 or so inches. I read hundreds of reviews and had been leary of Samsung due to reported issues with the ice maker being in the fridge, not the freezer. Looking at many brands, none had what we wanted, until we found this model. A great sale brought the price into our budget, so I decided to give it a chance. It's been installed for about three weeks now. The ice cubes are frozen solid, it's very quiet, and it holds plenty of food for a family of three. Alleviating most of the fears I had in making this purchase. I can admit I love my samsung phones and televisions, bit have been hesitant on buying their appliances do to some of the horror stories out there. So far, the only issue I have with the fridge is that the self filling water pitcher in the door leaks at the gasket when pouring. I haven't messed with it yet to see what the trouble is, so can't elaborate further. For those with a tight space, something to take note of: The French doors hinges are about mid point into the depth of the door. This causes the doors to extend past the edge of the sides when you open them creating possible fitment issues in tight spaces (My issue is a pantry wall on one side of the refrigerator. The other side is cabinets, and there are no issues with fitment on that side). I think a kitchen with cabinets on either side of this refrigerator will be fine. If theres a wall on either side, make some measurements of your space and this fridge.

We liked the look of no handles, but boy do we wish it had handles. Since it has no handles the front stays smudged up with finger prints. If you are an ice tea drinker be warned. I keep my tea in a gallon picture. I had to flip up the small shelf on top to have a space inside the fridge for tea, juice and milk. When we have multiple juices milks and teas we have to also slide in half of another shelf. If you don't flip up or slide in the shelf. there is not a space on the inside with enough height to place your tea jugs and juices, the door space is limited compared to my last fridge. The ice also hangs up quiet often where it dumps out in the ice maker. The space is too narrow there. I have to take the ice bin out and take a long knife to break it up. I wonder it i am gonna get a hole in the side of it one day stabbing at it like that in a confined space. The best thing about this fridge is the center pullout drawer, it is very nice. i love that part of it. the bottom section of the deep freezer is hard to get to. the top drawer of the deep freezer is awkward to push back out of the way. Bottom line i would have definitely took this fridge back if the restocking fee had not been so high. The inside is also well lit. But for the cost of this fridge i should be delighted in it. instead i am disappointed that i didn't choose a better one.

This refrigerator is great!!! I am surprised at the things I like the most. My kids use the water pitcher more than I ever thought they would. It is a great way to fill water bottles and keep up with drinking more water. I like the middle drawer flexibility. I was concerned about buying a counter depth refrigerator and losing space. I had already given up my garage refrigerator and was down sizing to this size. I am glad to see it has suited us well. We don't lose things in the back of the fridge like most of us do in a bigger refrigerator. It was easy to put something in and have it get lost in the back and now that is not a problem. I don't buy more than I need and don't waste food. I do wish it had more space for larger things like milk, but I took one of the drawers out of the door and now I can hold milk, almond milk, coffee cream, orange juice and tea with no problems. I am obsessed with finger prints and it is nice to be able to easily wipe the fridge down. It stays clean and looks nice. It is a great purchase and I am glad I bought this model. Best Buy goes above and beyond with their customer service and it really shows. They offer the best price and the best customer service. They really seem to care about their customers. I researched many models and many stores before making this purchase. This was a great choice!! Oh, and it is quiet too.

    Great Frig, But...

Have had ours for 8 months now. Great Frig. no handles to stick out, and lots of convenient storage. Do not forget, this is a cabinet-depth unit...so it is smaller than maybe your old frig. At month 1, the ice marker failed and froze-up. Samsung sent a local repair tech. and he troubleshot and thawed out the ice maker with a steam pot. Same problem in month 3 and same fix by local repair guy. Month 8 now, and ice maker froze up again. This time we turned off the ice-maker and thawed it out with a hair dryer and small tower under the maker assembly. Called Samsung and they agreed to have us go to our local Best Buy and select another Samsung frig. Our existing frig. costs $ 2700 so the ice maker should work with no troubles. But seems to be the weak component in another wise great frig. We are now waiting for the paperwork from Samsung and Best Buy and will plan to choose their "new" version of this frig. with slightly different freeze-doors layout BUT with a newly designed ice maker. Our new frig will take 1 month for delivery, but we get to continue to use our current one and the delivery guys will bring our new one and take back the old one. Good work on Samsung's part !!!

Overall...a great refrigerator. I love the built in water pitcher with infuser more than I thought I would - I add fresh lemon or cucumber and it gets me to drink a lot more water than I normally would. I am also enjoying the extra drawer more than I expected. Husband adds sodas and we keep quick grab snacks in here for our tween boys. It has encouraged them to make healthier food choices than they did before. They have a more limited selection and I have things like washed fruit, carrots with hummus, etc. I guess I didn't realize that I had a smudge-proof frig last time or didn't realize just how incredibly poorly stainless does with fingerprints. Wow! I was really spoiled with my prior frig. I took a 1/2 star away for that. I also took a 1/2 star away for the 'quick freeze' option, you have to manually turn it on and off - my last frig had this option as well and it automatically turned off after the freezer cooled down so that you weren't killing your electric bill. The other thing I don't like is that there isn't a +/- button to adjust the freezer or frig temps. In looking through the manual, it can be done, but I shouldn't have to read a manual and figure it out when the +/- buttons could have easily been added. Both are fairly minor complaints and I still like the frig enough that I would buy it again if I had to do it over again.

This refrigerator broke down less than four months from purchase. A loud hum started with loud thumps three months and three weeks after purchase. A strong burning mechanical smell followed the increase in noise. The freezer temperature stared to rise so we called Customer service. We had to wait three days for Best Buy to send out a Geek Squad repairmen who was not qualified to work on this type refrigerator and couldn’t work on it anyway since it was still under mfg warranty. We called Samsung customer service and had to wait another 5 days for them to send their repairman. He showed up with out a compressor even though Geek Squad had confirmed it was the compressor. Now we have to wait another 4-5 days for the compressor to arrive! I’ve never in my life purchased such a lousy appliance for so much money and terrible service. You would think a $2,800 appliance would last longer than 4 months!! I will never buy anything Samsung again! BUYER BEWARE!!

Samsung, engineered an amazing fridge, but forgot to address the details. After nearly 6 months, thankfully, I have had an extended warranty with Best buy because I have had to ask them for repairs on 2 occasions. The first was shortly after the product was installed and I lost all of the contents of my freezer, due to power fluctuated and the refrigerator refused to turn itself back on. The second time was a few months after that service call. the Geek Squad then replaced the circuit board. When it happened again while I was out of town and the total contents was lost (what a smell upon returning). Again a new circuit board and many apologies. The is a beautiful fridge with wonderful features but completely undependable. I have learned to live with it and every time there is a power loss in South Florida, which is common, I run to the fridge and check if it is running. If not I unplug and replug which reboots it's circuits and we are fine again until the next power loss. I have become close friends with the Geek Squad. How many circuit board replacements must happen before Samsung finally redesigns them to solve the underlying problem.

We wanted a stainless counter depth refrigerator as we are switching our kitchen over to stainless. We had already bought a kitchenaid dishwasher which didn't have a handle so this model from Samsung was perfect matching the dishwasher and also saved space without the handles protruding. There are hand holds to open and close all the doors and drawers at the top and bottom of each so it's easy to use without touching the stainless. We don't miss the loss of space but to be honest we did move the old frig to the garage and do use both. We love the pitcher which is always full of cold water and the interior lighting is great. The adjustable shelving is also great. Other reviews have knocked the lack of ice storage in the ice maker but we haven't noticed that as a problem. The crushed ice maker works great. The freezer storage at the bottom with the two drawers is very convenient and easy to access with good lighting. The middle drawer is very handy, we have adjusted to use it now for soda pop cans with the appropriate temp. but it can also be used for deli and cheese etc. We just love the styling outside and in. The stainless does pick up fingerprints easily if you don't watch how you open the doors.

What can I say! No fingerprints, finally!!!! I never understood the fascination with stainless steel. I hated my old, new( 5 year old) fridge. You could just look at it and it would get a fingerprint. The compressor went out and they wanted $500 for the labor and 1 month to fix the warranty item. So I have upgraded to the black stainless fingerprintless steel! It is perfect, and does not look that bad with the other stainless appliances. Love the middle drawer. We use it for drinks. Another great feature is the water pitcher in the door with auto fill. We are limited with our kitchen design so we need a counter depth fridge. This fridge still has plenty of room on the inside for large items and is easy to reconfigure. So far the only con I see is that the manual says that I should turn off the water line before I change the water filter. I have never had to do this with my old LG. So that would mean pulling the fridge out to get the water valve, when Samsung made such a nice door inside in the front to change out the filter. Makes no sense.. All in all a 5 star fridge, even if I have to pull it out every 4 or 5 months. It will remind me to vacuum behind the fridge ;-)
