    Compressor busted after 1.5 years

    I loved this refrigerator when i first bought it. After one and a half year of flawless service, suddenly the freezer and ice maker stopped working. Turns out the compressor was completely burnt up. After contacting Samsung, they have agreed to give a full refund but still waiting for the final step.

    What a disappointment!

    I cannot stress enough NOT to purchase this refrigerator! We purchased ours in November 2015 and have had nothing but trouble with the ice maker ever since. It finally completely quit making ice this past November. We have had 2 new ones installed and it still doesn't work. Our repairman is at a loss as to how to fix it. After doing much research, I have discovered soooooooo many people who have had trouble with theirs as well. A refrigerator this expensive should last a lot longer than 3 years. We will never, ever purchase another Samsung appliance again, and I advise you to do the same.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS

    I'm not typically prone to posting product reviews, but felt compelled to share our experience and hopefully save another family's angst... My family purchased this Samsung refrigerator on 9/15/18 (Model#: RF23J9011SR/AA) liking the French door design and flexible freezer/refrigerator on lower right side. Unfortunately, we've come to learn that this unit is widely recognized as being defective with countless negative online reviews (leaking oil, failed ice makers, failed cooling systems, etc.) and multiple class-action lawsuits pending. Within the first year, our ice maker failed. Then in 2022, the cooling unit/compressor failed. After multiple services, the cooling issue was still not resolved and we were advised to contact Samsung directly. My family went two months without a refrigerator, wasted countless hours on the phone and still have zero resolution. As of now, we have already filed complaints with both our state's AG’s office as well as the NJ BBB (where Samsung Electronics America has its HQ). This was the single worst product purchase we’ve EVER made; Samsung should simply do a full product recall of the entire line (and will likely be forced to do so). We will never purchase another Samsung product again and would advise anyone considering this product to do your research and you'll find the same. DO NOT PURCHASE, better off with Bosch, etc.

    Love the layout, hate the ice maker. I wish I had taken these comments more seriously before I bought this model. The ice maker regularly freezes up. I will never buy another Samsung fridge.

    Like just about everyone else the ice maker is THE WORST ever. If you like ice at all do not buy this. We've had it repaired 3 times by Samsung's authorized repair and it still does not work. It freezes up and you have to take a chisel to get it unstuck. With 5 people in my house we go through ice and this does not work. Really frustrating I have to shop for a new refrigerator after only a few years.

    Broken at 21 months

    I loved the unit until the fridge stopped cooling well at 21 months, so it was out of warranty. The first tech said it was the compressor and covered under the 5 year warranty for parts and labor. But he did not know how to fix it. The second tech deemed it unreparable and now we can't get it fixed. They said it is a lemon, but the warranty is only for a year, so they are going to give my money back. I have to wait for them to send it and then send them the cut cord and sticker with the serial number on it and then they will send a check. I figure I'll be without a fridge for a month. Great job Samsung. I won't be buying another of their products.

    Ice maker issue from hell. Broke right after warranty, paid geek squad around $300 to fix it only to break again 2 years later. Gave up and purchased an Opal Ice Nugget Maker. Found out Samsung lost in class action so repair for free. I made arrangements only for the tech to tell me he’s unable to remove the fridge to replace the part.

    Purchased an entire suite of kitchen appliances, 50% are failing. The ice maker quit working within 30 days of the warranty expiring. Microwave: model # ME21H706MQG is failing, it's making a terrible grinding noise when in use. It still manages to heat but it sounds like it's dying.

    This fridge is a piece of junk! After 4 years, the top unit completely stopped cooling. We’ve had multiple technicians come out and replace several parts and it’s still not working. The technicians deemed it unrepairable and I’ve been going back and forth with Samsung for 3 MONTHS trying to get a resolution. I will never buy another Samsung product ever again after this experience.

    Known Ice Maker problem -- no fix

    Samsung has known that there are problems with their ice maker, yet they will not fix it. DO NOT BUY this refrigerator! Your ice maker will fail and you will be reduced to chiseling/scraping frost to allow ice to flow at least weekly. Terrible design. Shameful that they have not corrected this.

    Does not make ICE

    Ice machine design failure. I forgot I had an extended warranty, since then It's been serviced 4 times in the last three months with the entire guts of the ice machine swapped out twice including the circuit board. I expect to call again in a month to have them out to fix it again.

    Seal system dead&poor customer service

    one year only and all of sudden it just stopped cooling for all rooms. Call the customer service, and waited 2 weeks until they send over some one for initial diagnose and it turned out to be the compressor, seal system problem. Then after another week, the special technician came. Did few things and stopped in the middle just left and telling us the compressor was tapped, so it is out of the seal system & compressor warranty. Samsung will not cover for repairing, which likely will cost $1k estimated and still not sure if it is fixable or not. Completely just waste your money if buying Samsung!!!!!

    The ice maker is horrible. It freezes up. It froze up around 4 months prior to the warranty running out. They replaced and said it should not happen again. Of course after the warranty expired, it froze again and continues to do so.

    I Bought this fridge 4 years ago and after 3 years the fridge started to have a leak on both sides of my front door bottom hinges, and my top fridge stopped working. Samsung authorized rep came out and deemed it as unrepairable and said it was something internal that they cannot find. After 4 appointments of them coming to my home, speaking to the tech, videoing Samsung techs in, they said that they can not find it a For 2 months Samsung has been telling me I am out of warranty and they can not do anything about it.

    Look elsewhere

    Freezer stopped working after 2.5 years. After several attempts at warranty repairs, the system was deemed "contaminated" and not able to be fixed. Samsung then condemned the unit which means warranty replacement. Problem is Samsung sends you a check for what you payed at the time of purchase. Obviously can't by a replacement for that today. Plus I have to pay to have the old one removed. Expect a high end system to last more than 2.5 years. And, by the way, Samsung customer service has been brutal. Hours and hours on the phone. You can bet we will not be buying a Samsung product anytime soon.
