    Ice maker issues

    After a year and a half of using this fridge, the ice maker is freezing over, leaking and not making ice. I've never cared for the ice maker because it's very slow to dispense ice.

    The ice maker is complete garbage. It will freeze up solid no matter how many times you use it. Samsung knows about the problem and will not address it. They recommend for you to empty out the fridge and freezer, unplug it and let it defrost for 24 hours.

    Good refrigerator....Terrible icemaker

    We bought this refrigerator after hearing that "icing up design flaws" were fixed. They were, but the ice-maker also had un-fixed design flaws. after 8 tries, the Geek-Squad says they cannot fix it, and they will give me a new refrigerator (great except they dont sell that model anymore, so I have to pay the difference between my old "sale" price and the current model price, and my warantee will not transfer to the new unit). So $800 later, there is no gaurantee that the new ice maker will work either (same slow dispenser design), I'm bummed.

    The French style 4 door Samsung is the best overall design of any refrigerator! The chill drawer is something I would never do without again, and most don't have it. My only fault with this unit is the ice maker. It's slow, sluggish and just not up to speed with the design of this fridge. If I was shopping again it would make me check out the other brands before making a final decision, even though I've always been sold on Samsung products.

    Please do not buy this unit as the icemaker continually freezes up and has to be defrosted which last for about 3 weeks. Unfortunately it is now out of warranty and Samsung offers no support even though there is a class action suit against them.

    I've less than a month with my fridge. It's a very attractive refrigerator, I like it has an extra drawer, so far the only thing I don't like is that the Ice maker is a little noisy.

    The ice tray will not come out of freezer. The ice maker will not make ice cubes.

    Great but the Ice Maker Ruins it

    Due to the size of our space, this was one of the only refrigerators that would work. If I was just reviewing the refrigerator space, drawer and freezer, this would definitely get 5 stars. The ice maker alone drops it 2 stars. There is always water leaking out of the ice chute. Ice builds up in the ice maker until it stops working. The fan begins to make a loud noise and the only way to make it stop is to turn off the unit and let it thaw or spray hot water in there and try to remove as much ice as you can. I had a repair person out and they recommended that we just get a counter icemaker and turn off the unit in the fridge. Apparently this is a known issue with Samsung that still does not have a fix. If you have a separate ice maker and don't need to use this one, absolutely go with this fridge. If ice is important to you, save yourself the headache and go with another brand.

    We previously had this model fridge in a larger size, but when we bought our new house the fridge wouldn't fit in the space. So we sold it and bought the exact same fridge in the smaller size. We love the features and looks of this fridge so much we wanted the same exact one. Only cons, as others have mentioned, is that the ice maker is loud when ice drops. Also the ice maker doesn't store a large amount of ice if you wanted to fill a cooler, it's basically only used for occasional glasses of ice. Those are the pros and cons of through-the-door ice dispensers.

    Biggest mistake I've every made in an appliance. I gave it one star, only because I couldn't rate it lower. The refrigerator works great and I love the third drawer for bottled water, beer, and soda. However the ice maker is worse than useless. It has constantly frozen up and even when it worked, it never made sufficient ice. I've resorted to buying bagged ice and putting it in the freezer drawer and am ready to donate the refrigerator, just to get it out of the house so I can buy something that makes ice. Strong recommendation -- buy something else.

    Good refrigerator with ice maker problems

    This is the 2nd refrigerator I've owned of the same exact model. The first one I had for almost 2 years. Refrigerator works well. The unit is quiet and works as expected. The only problem I've is with the ice maker. Samsung has some design flaws with this unit. The ice marker is in the refrigerator part. It's not sealed well and the ice maker regularly freezes up. The first unit I had would freeze up every 1-2 weeks. You would have to get in there with a hair dryer and defrost the whole thing. It would then work for a little while. My last unit I bought through Lowe's and had an extended warranty. I had it serviced and they sealed up the ice maker and in the process of replacing the ice maker they broke the cooling system and bricked the refrigerator. I ended up getting a replacement. Less than 30 days after getting the new one the ice maker stopped working. Geek Squad came buy and sealed up the ice maker compartment and replaced the ice maker. It's been working a lot better but I still have been seeing some ice buildup where there should be no ice. I already had to go in there once and chip away some of the ice. I expect that I will most likely be needing to make a second call to Geek Squad. Despite possibly needing to have a second call to Geek Squad, I felt like they did a good job in quickly shipping me the parts and having a tech come onsite that really knew his stuff. So overall I would not recommend this unit because of the ice maker problems. If you live in the Artic and hate ice then this is the unit for you

    It worked for just a few hours then 1/2 failed. Water dispenser stoped working, Ice maker doesn't work, refrigerator temp won't go below 65 degrees, refrigerator lights don't come on, freezer works so far. Waiting for a new replacement.

    The ice maker takes up too much room. Not enough options for shelf placement and the freezer is much smaller than one would think. That being said, the refrigerated section is more than ample.

    I have had repair people out FIVE times ... it still leaks water down the front, onto the floor. I have a Samsung at my house and it's great, but this one I bought for my parents as a gift ... HORRIBLE. Just look at other brands ... there are others that do all this one does and the ice maker would HAVE to be better.

    Icemaker defective, Great refrigerator/design

    I purchased this refrigerator 1 year ago. So far, I have encountered 1 design flaw. This involves the formation of an ice dam in the freezer on and around the ice maker, it eventually quit making ice.This was after 4-6 months,they repaired the auger motor free,The same thing happened,wet ice ,small cubes,I extensively tried to accurately build a case for repair But waited a month too long one year and one month. Samsung is giving me a one time accommodation to cover the part 180.00 not the labor 140.00. so my 2500.00 refrigerator is costing me for ice dearly. Rest assured this will Never end I will pursue every avenue to make sure other consumers including myself do not have to pay for DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE. I called Best Buy Pacific Sales.Long story short its my problem,over a year old. My appliance warranty (separate company ) does not cover the icemaker. Notice a pattern?

    She enjoyed the fridge for the first year. After that the ice maker began freezing up and nothing but problems since. She cannot use the icemaker anymore and has shut it off. STRONGLY suggest you choose a different manufacturer/fridge.
