Bad Monitor

Helpless. Waste product. Strongly don’t recommend for Mac setup.

Recommended 4K monitor for photo/color work

It's NOT a gaming monitor (5ms, 60 Hz) but designed for color work at which it excels for the price. I have both this and the ASUS ProArt PA279 and I think this is superior (and less expensive). Used with an M4 Mac mini with no issues. Note that this does not have USB-C so you use DisplayPort or HDMI to connect. It does have a built-in USB 3.0 HUB with 3 ports which I have not used. Is it the Apple Studio Display 5K? No. But it's 1/5 the price.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to replace my 27" 1080P secondary monitor I use for work and I knew it had to have a higher resolution than 1080P but not necessarily 4K. After much searching, I came across this Samsung ViewFinity S8 27" 4K monitor on sale for $169.99! I was hesitant to purchase this unit because it also has an IPS display which are notorious for backlight bleed and/or IPS glow unless it is Mini LED. I knew it wouldn't have Mini LED given its price so I took a chance. Luckily, my unit does not seem to have any backlight bleed nor IPS glow and it seems to have good screen uniformity. The only thing I wish this had was at least two HDMI ports but it's not that big of a deal given the price. Overall, I'm very satisfied!

As soon as I realized, after placing the order, it hasn't shipped yet, I could not cancel the order. Customer support said I have to physically take it back to store. Unbelievable! I could understand if the order already shipped but it did not, but I was still not able to cancel. Even customer service was not able to cancel the order and advised me to take it to store once I receive the item or ship it back.
