Samsung sound bar issues

What I mean is that even though it is powered on, it does not provide sound. I called the Samsung help desk and they told me to unplug the tv and plug it back in to get the two devices to rest call...btw the tv is Samsung as well. They could not offer any explanation of why this happens. Overall very disappointed with the product and would not recommend to anybody.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-Q70T Soundbar and for your review. If your device is connected, but you are not hearing any sound, first make sure that the Mute function is off, and that the volume is not set to minimum.
You will also want to verify that your TV is set to use external speakers & that your soundbar is set to the correct source.
If you are occasionally not hearing any sound from your soundbar, you may want to check that the cable connection is not loose. Remove the cable and connect again.
You may also want to initialize your soundbar again by pressing the - + (volume) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT” appears on the display when the soundbar is initialized.
Please also make sure that you have the latest firmware update, ver. 1017.5. You can update your firmware by Auto Update or by using a USB device. You can find the update on the product page of your HW-Q70T on the Samsung website.
