All treble and no bass

The “virtual” mode uses tiny drivers to force sound off your ceiling as a form of Dolby Atmos but most of the time it just makes the audio harder to listen to over periods of time. I assume the speakers used are made from aluminum because it creates harsh sounds even with treble turned down. With max setting of bass and subwoofer levels, you still question whether or not the subwoofer is even on at times. I have owned other Samsung sound bars and this was a major step down for a step up in price. Comb the reviews- others mention the same all-treble audio. The EQ via tv setup gives you more settings to alter the onboard presets but does nothing to help my ear fatigue.

Disappointed

Once I adjusted the levels, they would continually go back to flat. I would set surround and it would continually reset to standard. Had to constantly change according to what I was watching. Way too much work! For me at the price I paid, way too inconsistent. I returned it.

Missed the Mark

Integrated seamlessly with my new Samsung TV but that’s the best featured. The systems bass was weak and the ability to make a surround sound environment was poor. If you are into watching TV and want the sound experience invest in one of the high end systems.

Thank you for purchasing the Q70T Soundbar. We appreciate your feedback regarding syncing issues and the low dialogue volume of your unit.
If the video on the TV and audio from the soundbar are not synchronized, press the SOUND CONTROL button on the soundbar remote, until you see AUDIO SYNC on the display. You can then set the audio delay between 0~300 milliseconds by using the Up/Down buttons.
You can also try the below to minimize the delay:
1) Connect the source directly to the Soundbar’s HDMI input, then connect the Soundbar to the HDMI ARC input on the TV.
2) On the TV, set the Sound Delay level to 0. Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay: “0”
3) Change the audio format to PCM on both the source device and the TV.

To improve your dialogue experience, try using Dynamic Range Control (DRC). DRC lets you apply dynamic range control to Dolby Digital tracks. With DRC turned on, loud sounds will be reduced.
1) Turn off your Soundbar.
2) While the Soundbar is off, press and hold the Sound Mode button on the remote control for 6 seconds until you see “DRC ON” shown on the display.
3) To turn off DRC, repeat steps 1 and 2 above.

Very little bass

Amazing Performance With No Setup Headache
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve always been really bad at cable management and setting up new electronics, my speed is pretty much plug in power and video and hope for the best. Having just bought a new TV with less than ideal sound output I’d been looking at surround sound; dreading trying to determine where to setup the speakers, how the cables would work, and then the price was really high too. Then I found this soundbar from Samsung and figured that it would be easier and more cost effective having just the soundbar and subwoofer so I gave it a shot. Boy am I glad I did! Setup is super easy, the hardest part was getting wall anchors into my wall, mostly my fault although the included paper “measuring stick” that comes with the soundbar is flimsy and awkward to use given the fold lines must be flattened out. Once I got the anchors in the soundbar comes with brackets and hardware to get it up on the wall and instructions on which component to power up first to keep things simple. We started with “The Goonies” and the echoing caves, swelling score, and dialogue balanced perfectly and really did seem to simulate surround sound a little! With my TV I would have to turn up volume to 80-90 to hear over our summer season fan….until now. With the Samsung soundbar attached I’ve tried to go beyond 28 and stopped myself as the sound is too loud! What is extra cool is that it seems to be adjusting on the fly somehow, the dialogue never gets drowned out by action, both remain at more or less the same volume. After several more movies we connected via bluetooth and I was able to play music and podcasts from my phone (coincidentally a Samsung, not sure if that matters or not) and received the same crystal clear audio at the same glorious volume levels. Since my TV isn’t a Samsung I wasn’t able to test any of the brand specific synergy like the Symphony Mode but I am sure given the awesome performance I did experience that if you own a Samsung TV you’ll be in for a real treat! Set up is easy, movie performance is great, bluetooth performance is great….I highly recommend this soundbar if you don’t plan to need a full 5.1 surround sound system at home.

Overpriced and overated

We contacted tech support to find how it could be synced, but found it had to be connected via hdmi cable to be synced. Very overpriced and disappointed.

Connecting your soundbar to the TV with HDMI will give you the best possible audio. HDMI cables transmit sound digitally, which makes everything crystal clear. You can also try the below to minimize the delay:
1) Connect the source directly to the Soundbar’s HDMI input, then connect the Soundbar to the HDMI ARC input on the TV.
2) On the TV, set the Sound Delay level to 0. Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay: “0”

It doesn't have the same sound quality as HDMI, but everyone loves the convenience of Bluetooth since you don't have to worry about any cables. The main challenge with Bluetooth is that connections can disconnect or become unstable if there's some kind of disruption, like a power outage. Bluetooth is still a nice and easy option to have, though.
If you want to connect your soundbar via Bluetooth, first switch the soundbar to pairing mode by pressing the Pair button on the soundbar's remote control.
If you don't have the soundbar remote, don't worry. Just press the source button until the display says "BT." After a few seconds, the display will change to "BT Ready." When this happens, press and hold the source button until the display says "BT Pairing."
Once the soundbar is in pairing mode, use your TV remote to navigate to Sources, and then select Connection Guide. Select the device type you would like to pair, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect it via Bluetooth.
You can also navigate to Settings, and select Sound. Next, select Sound Output, and then select Bluetooth Speaker List or Bluetooth Audio Device, depending on your TV model. Finally, select your soundbar. Now sound from the TV will be played through your soundbar.

No idea what purpose of subwoofer is... And yes, it was connected correctly, proper sound 'standard' and woofer volume max. Samsung tried so hard to simulate atmos but lost focus on average customer

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-Q70T Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not happy with the subwoofer.
By design, the purpose of the subwoofer is to reproduces low frequency sounds and not musical tones. It adds rich tones and deepens sound effects, like the rumbles of an explosion or the depth in bass guitars and drums.
There are two adjustments that can be made for bass and subwoofer:
1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down
2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.
For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung HW-Q70T Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not completely happy with the sound performance. This soundbar features a powerful wireless subwoofer, as well Acoustic Beam which keeps your sound in sync with the action.
You can try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME PRO, or ADAPTIVE SOUND
You can further adjust TREBLE and BASS via the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear symbol).
