From Living Room to Home Theater
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Level-up your living room TV with this Samsung Soundbar and Subwoofer system. I spend a lot of time in my living room watching TV/Movies and playing video games so adding this system was a great way to liven up the audio. I tested out a variety of media from musicals to action movies so I could get a good range of sound. This system offers great sound quality, delivers appropriate bass, and can reach a high volume. I really noticed the quality of the bass when I could hear it through my garage door that is about 15 ft. away from the system. I also must add that I can hear the audio much better in my kitchen as well. The Soundbar/Subwoofer audio is quite crisp and reaches further than the TV audio alone so this system is really doing its job. Connecting the system to my TV via HDMI was pretty straight forward and didn’t take too long. Just like connecting a new video source to your TV, with any new audio source you have to change the audio output on the TV itself. Bluetooth connectivity is also a great plus. The remote allows the user to easily switch between HDMI and Bluetooth. While I use this sound system mainly for my TV, I can also use this occasionally to play music from my phone. The size and look/feel of this system works great with my furniture. The soundbar fits perfectly in front of my TV and the subwoofer fits neatly next to it. Overall, I am very pleased with this Samsung system. This is the audio solution I was looking for to spruce up my living room media area.

Great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this soundbar. My old soundbar was also a Samsung just a few years old and bigger. This soundbar sounds a lot better and blows the TV speakers out of the water. My favorite part is how it handles dialog vs action. I’ve always ran into the issue that to hear the conversation the action scenes end up blasting despite the settings. However, this one handles it nicely. I think overall, it’s a little less bassy. It doesn’t rumble the house but that’s not necessary. I am extremely disappointed that I can’t take advantage of Q-Symphony. I was excited to check out the new technology that utilizes your TV speakers and the soundbar. The disappointment is that even though I bought two new Samsung TVs last year, only the 2020 models will allow this. I’m hoping a firmware update comes out for the 2019 models but for now this is a big ding. Lastly, I hooked it up to my phone to play music, not surprisingly a Samsung, and it worked and sounded great.

It's pretty good for a sound bar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is my first go around with a sound bar. My 5.1 system with separate speakers around the room recently died. I had the opportunity pick up one of these so here we are. I know a few people with sound bars and I've never been impressed. That said, this is the best sound bar that I've had the opportunity to actually spend some time with. It has respectable sound for what it is. I found the setup really simple. I have a few older devices, so it took me a few minutes to think through the chain of connections. The instructions are very easy to understand. My challenge was in the fact that the sound bar only has a couple of HDMI ports and Had several additional devices to deal with. I needed to hook a couple of devices up through my TV and then run the sound from my TV to the sound bar using an optical audio cable. It worked perfectly. Take your time and think through things and you likely won't have any trouble. I found the audio quality and volume very good for a sound bar. The lows and highs are very good. The mid seemed a bit muddy to me if I tried to bring it up, but it isn't bad. Dialogue was easy for me to understand. The Sub was surprisingly powerful. The opening sequence to Jurasic Park was fun to play with. I was able to hook up my phone via Bluetooth with no trouble at all. I don't have any smart devices, but supposedly you can connect this to some smart speakers. There is one issue that I haven't quite solved yet. When I watch a movie, once or twice, the audio will drop completely for just about 1 second. While super short, it really disrupts an intense scene if things suddenly go silent. I can't figure out what it causing this issue. I have switched cables, and it still happens on both Direct Input (optical audio cable) and the HDMI channel. (HDMI cable). My 4K bluray player had a dedicated audio HDMI cable that runs directly to the sound bar, and it has the same issue. It's doesn't seem to happen when just watching TV shows, but over the course of a 2 hour, it does drop once or twice. It's not enough to make me return it, but it is concerning. I'm holding it at 3 start for this reason. If I can get some support on the drop issue, I'll bump it up to 4 starts. So, overall, I think you will like this unit. It's easy to hook up, easy to operate with a stylish remote, and generally fun. I wish it has more HDMI ports and that it didn't drop audio every once in a while, but I still enjoy it. There is an upgrade package that's only about $150 that will give you wireless rear speakers to go along with this unit. After having the base unit for about a week, I bought the upgrade. WOW...it makes a huge difference having those rear surround speakers. I know this review is for the base product, but take my work for it. The $150 for the back speakers is absolutely worth it. It easily improved my enjoyment 100%

Very nice upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the Samsung soundbar to replace a one-piece model that I was using. It is connected to a Samsung 65” tv. First, let me say that setup was extremely easy. All I had to do was connect power to the subwoofer and plug it in to the power source. Next I connected the soundbar to the tv and plugged that in. That was it. It comes with brackets if you want to mount it to your wall. My old model was decent, it amplified voices so I could hear audio better. This model exceeded my expectations and I don’t even have the rear speakers yet. Sounds are crisp and clear and the bass shakes the floorboards! I am enjoying the Atmos sound as well and I plan to watch a movie that takes full advantage of this feature soon. There’s a digital display on the front that allows you to see the mode and volume but it’s not so bright that it distracts from the TV. The remote only has a few buttons to control volume and the subwoofer, sound mode and TV functions. I don’t have any other accessories hooked up to this soundbar so I can’t speak for its compatibility. I am happy with the sound it provides. I definitely recommend this unit for the sound quality and ease of use.

Alright Quality but not at the Price Point...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The short; this is an alright soundbar and sub woofer combo that provides decent sound in a moderate size room but needs improvement in it's connectivity and ultimately at this price point is has little to no advantage over lower priced sound bars or a traditional surround system. The long story...I purchased this sound bar/sub woofer combo for a moderate size living room. I have a 65" Samsung TV that is about three years old and naturally, the speakers in the TV do not really cut it. I tend to lean towards picking up like same brand components as they often are easier to set-up and should ultimately work together with little to no issues; this is not the case with this sound bar. I initially looked at the instructions that came with it; very simple, hook up power and connect to TV with HDMI through the ARC (audio return channel). Alright, no issue, find the TVs ARC HDMI port and connect as stated...no sound. Try different ports as well as another HDMI cable, still no sound. I connect via the Bluetooth capability and was finally able to get sound. However, this way only produces stereo sound making the features associated with this sound bar pointless. I looked online but could not find anything to aid really in facilitating connecting the two components. Never one to give up, I went into the advanced sound settings and began playing around and I was able to serendipitously change a setting from default to get the ARC to work. Great news! So I wanted to take advantage of its adaptive sound as movies now are loud sound effects with quiet dialogue. I used the movie Midway. I had already watched normal and went back to scenes were I know there was explosions as well as dialogue. The adaptive sound did a decent job of balancing the the loud explosions as well as the the dialogue. Unfortunately, the triumphant was short lived as for whatever reason the ARC went out again and I have not been able to get it to reconnect again. Thus, I have only been using the soundbar via Bluetooth; horribly less than ideal. Interesting, as others stated, with the ARC connected the soundbar does not automatically turn on with the TV like it has in the past. Really disappointing change by Samsung and hopefully one they remedy. Conversely, if you have the soundbar connected via Bluetooth, it will turn on when you turn the TV on, not sure if it actually turns off with the TV as I always need to use the soundbar remote. Ultimately, this is not as easy to hook up as it should be and the features it does have does not support the price point it is listed as a store brand/cheaper one would likely function as well as a fraction of the cost.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-Q70T Soundbar. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing connection issues via HDMI to TV (eARC/ARC).
1) Check whether the HDMI cable is correctly connected to the ARC terminal.
2) Connection may not be possible due to the connected external device (set-top box, game machine, etc.). Directly connect the Soundbar.
3) HDMI-CEC may not be activated on the TV. Turn on the CEC on the TV menu. (Samsung TV: Home > Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) ON)

- When “BT READY” appears, press and hold the (Mic On/Off) button on the top panel of the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds to display “BT PAIRING”.

3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar Q70T” from the list on TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list. To connect the Samsung TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection.
- When the Samsung TV is connected, [TV Name] > “BT” appears on the Soundbar’s front display
4) After you have connected the Soundbar to your Samsung TV the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.
If you have an existing Soundbar (e.g., [AV] Samsung Soundbar Q70T) on the list of speakers on the Samsung TV, delete it. Then repeat steps 1 through 3.

Perfect soundbar at a great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this speaker for almost 4 years now & its really great. It has excellent sound quality & seamlessly connect with my Samsung TV. Recently I have connected it to Epson Projector and working perfect. Thinking of getting some rear satellite speaker to get the complete surround sound.
I would recommend this to a friend
