      soundbar:

Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung HW-Q70T Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not completely happy with the sound performance. This soundbar features a powerful wireless subwoofer, as well Acoustic Beam which keeps your sound in sync with the action.

You can try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME PRO, or ADAPTIVE SOUND

You can further adjust TREBLE and BASS via the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear symbol).

Compact and powerful soundbar with Dolby Atmos

We all know how the speakers found in most of the LED television have poor audio quality, and it seems the situation is deteriorating day by day. TVs are getting slimmer, so it’s kind of inevitable - audio seems like the last feature that manufacturers are paying attention to. Thus comes the soundbar into the picture - a compact solution that promises to make our audio experience richer without getting into too much details into what kind of speaker setup you need, where to place them, etc. etc. And the Samsung HW-Q70T tries to do just that. The overall profile of the system is compact and comes with two pieces - a wall mountable soundbar that houses 1.5” tweeters is a special configuration, and a 6.5” wireless subwoofer for all your low-end frequency needs. The power rating is 330 W, so it’s adequate. The soundbar has support for Dolby Atmos surround sound system and seems that’s accomplished by the upward firing tweeters located on the top. Setting up is a cinch: hookup the soundbar with the TV via HDMI (ARC if available), and then the wireless subwoofer is paired out of the box. There’s an option to connect it via Bluetooth, but I opted to stick with the wired connection. The accompanying remote is almost similar to a lot of the new Samsung TVs, but even for a new user it’s intuitive to use. As for audio performance, the soundbar does a very good job given it’s slim size. The subwoofer has just the right amount of bass. The tweeter does an excellent job while watching movies and playing video games - but only after I fiddled around the sound settings. The presets that are built-in were not my favorite, but at least for starters they are decent. The Dolby Atmos support creates a lot of expectation for the surround sound performance, but in the end you have to realize there are no actual ceiling mounted speakers - it’s getting emulated by the top firing ones in the soundbar. And depending on the room dimension, location etc. the perception changes a lot. One very good thing is there is an option to add rear speakers to the mix, so you can possibly expand it into a 5.1.2 solution. Overall, I’m impressed by the speaker. The build is nice, and the sound is quite good. If there’s a good deal going on, this should be a top choice for a simple upgrade to the TV, and vastly improves audio experience.

Over all this is a solid sound bar in its category. Its sturdy and pretty heavy, the shell is made out of quality materials, and comes with the perfect size subwoofer. I have had experience with samsung sound bars in the past and the sound quality rarely disappointed. This sound bar is pretty good BUT there is a few things that aren't as good Pros: -Easy set up out of the box. You plug in the power cords to the subwoofer and the bar and just pair your device. - Can be connected via Bluetooth, WIFI, HDMI, and Optical - Bass is very punchy and clear if you turn it all the way up on the settings - Can be updated via WIFI or USB - Sturdy solid design, and very heavy - Same sound quality even on bluetooth (wifi not as much but barely noticeable) Some of the things that were not as great are: -No EQ settings on the soundbar. The preset that they have on the sound bar has the mids pretty low. I am a bass head but don't get me wrong i also like listening to other music and the sound bar is somewhat disappointing in that aspect. You could work around this issue by changing the EQ settings through whatever device you are using, but you should not have to go out of your way do things that should of came installed on the sound bar - Power brick should be installed inside the sound bar considering the size of the bar - This is just a nit pick of mine but when you plug an Optical cable the sound quality is the same as Bluetooth or HDMI. I've had other soundbars from 2.1 to 7.1 and man when you plug that optical cable, you never want to go back to bluetooth, but in this case with this sound bar i find myself using bluetooth more which is a bummer for me. -UI can also be a bit annoying to learn at first but once you get used to it its a smooth ride Overall this sound bar is great, It has dolby atmos which is a plus, the shell quality is great, and wireless sound quality is also pretty good, but not having an EQ was a pretty big let down for me.

Pros: Not a huge setup Great sound LOUD Cons: Setup took a bit This soundbar is great. The sound is crisp and clear and can get very loud. I love that it doesn't take up a ton of room but delivers the sound quality of a large speaker or soundbar pair. Setup took a bit but not enough for me to get frustrated or need assistance. This is replacing a soundbar of another brand that had issues connecting to the TV after a time, so far no similar issues. My only complaint would be needing multiple remotes for the tv/soundbar/accessories but there isn't much to change about that as they are all different brands. I'd highly recommend this.

The HW-Q70T is a great soundbar for under $500. Pros: -It will get VERY loud with no distortion to speakers or sub. -Dolby Atmos works, and the soundbar does a good job of simulating surround sound. -Dialogue is clear, and the sound is well defined. -Build quality appears good, the soundbar looks good, the sub appears to be good quality as well. -Very easy setup, wall mount brackets included in box. Cons: -Sub could pack more of a punch. I had it turned up to +4/6 just for regular TV. It’s not BAD, but it’s not the excessive bass that can be satisfying for some types of music and movies. -The included power cables are short and can make ideal positioning difficult. -The surround is good, but not great. Other bars, mostly slightly more expensive ones, can simulate a more convincing surround sound experience. Overall: For the price, this is really hard to beat. It sounds premium, it gets loud, and it supports the newest features. I would say it is probably the best soundbar you can buy for under $500. Especially when compared to the LG and Bose alternatives.

Got this as a gift, I love it. Powerful sound. I see people complaining about the subwoofer. For what it is, this is excellent. If you really want good low end bass, then you're going to have to shell out a pretty penny on a big woofer. Otherwise it does fine in my bedroom. Watched STAR WARS in Dolby Atmos with soundbar with my new TV (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-32-class-q50r-series-led-4k-uhd-smart-tizen-tv/6364277.p?skuId=6364277) and was highly satisfied. Comes with an HDMI cable, so I highly recommend using the HDMI arc for lossless sound.

I bought this sound bar with the understanding that it's not going to produce the bombardment of sounds you would get from a traditional full speaker package theater surround system. I wasn't looking for that this time around. Been there, done that. Nowadays, I just wanted more roomy space and less speaker furniture so the sound bar and single sub gave me that. It does a good job filling my 18ft x 25ft living room. No complaints. I have to say that I am quite pleased with how well this sound bar does. I recently picked up the Ford vs Ferrari movie and watched it at a loud volume setting on the Adaptive sound mode and it was very entertaining. The speakers do a decent job wrapping the audio around your ears, although you need to be sitting right in the middle of the sound bar's path. It wasn't able to virtually produce any rear sounds but I definitely heard effects that sounded like the were coming from my left and right side as well as all over the front of my audio field. This is a good system and I am happy with my purchase. It also has atmos ability and yes it m might be on the lower capability spectrum in the amtos playing field but I could hear a satisfying difference. I would say if you're looking for that dynamic in your face theater sound, then go get a full theater system, receiver, floor speakers, etc... If you just want sound that is hands down, way better than your tv can produce, then get this system.

Great sound in a small pkg. But won't Auto-On

Bought a Sonos PlayBar with a new Samsung 7Series 65" UHD. PlayBar didn't work well (because it was only Optical input), so traded it back for this Samsung SoundBar. Connected up as instructed, and the sound is really good (for a bar this small). But couldn't figure out how to have the Samsung TV control the Samsung SoundBar. After a week of research, chats, etc. (I've been in IT for over 30 years) - contacted support. Great support BTW, but the answer was "the TV will turn the SoundBar OFF when TV turned off. But it will not turn the SoundBar ON - That feature was removed last year". Wait. What? - You must use the separate Remote to turn ON this SoundBar. yeah. Thanks, Samsung.

      OldITguy:

In all configurations (Optical, Bluetooth, ARC, and Wi-Fi) when the TV is turned ON, the Soundbar will turn ON. If your soundbar is not turning on, it could be due to another reason. For example, if the Soundbar was used to connect to another device (say a smart phone), then it will remember the last device (smart phone) and wait for a command from that device (the smartphone) and ignore the TV ON command.

You may want to try using a HDMI-ARC connection to the TV. When the TV turns ON, it will send a command to turn on the Soundbar and forces the source on the Soundbar to change to HDMI-ARC. This would make the Soundbar change the source from the prior state it was in.

I hope this helps. If you should need further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support.

Just purchased this, and I must say was only buying because it was a black Friday price and wanted another sound bar. I have a 7.1 curved sound bar and sub and I put the new system on the TV that the old one was currently on. The sound is pretty clear, but the power of the sub was lacking so much compared to the sub that came with my curved system. I'm reading reviews and people are saying how much bass this sub has, well I just don't get it. I even asked the wife, I said how did it sounded compared to the older sound bar and she said I was waiting for you to crank it up. This system just doesn't have the loudness and the power as my 6 year old system so its definitely getting returned

      Hi Pete,

Thank you for your review of this Samsung HW-Q70T Soundbar. I am sorry to hear that you are not completely happy with your audio experience and are considering returning your unit. Your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with our product team.

Before returning, you may want to try the troubleshooting tips below:

Please may want to make sure you are running the latest firmware update which includes improved connectivity. You can update your firmware ver. 1017.5 by Auto Update, using the SmartThings app, or by using a USB device.

If you are connecting wirelessly via Bluetooth, please follow these steps:

      1) Press the PAIR button on the remote to enter BT PAIRING mode
      - “BT” changes to “BT PAIRING” in a few seconds automatically or changes to “BT READY” if there is a connect record.
      - When “BT READY” appears, press and hold the (Mic On/Off) button on the top panel of the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds to display “BT PAIRING”.
      2) Select Bluetooth mode on the Samsung TV: Home > Settings (gear button on remote) > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List > [AV] Samsung Soundbar Q70T (Bluetooth))
      3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar Q70T” from the list on TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list. To connect the Samsung TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection.
      - When the Samsung TV is connected, [TV Name] > “BT” appears on the Soundbar’s front display
      4) After you have connected the Soundbar to your Samsung TV the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.

If you have an existing Soundbar (e.g., [AV] Samsung Soundbar Q70T) on the list of speakers on the Samsung TV, delete it. Then repeat steps 1 through 3.

If there is anything we can do to improve your sound such as helping to optimize settings, please let us know. You can reach Samsung Customer Support at:
