    Bought this product for my wife for Christmas. I hooked it up early for her. For this item to be rated for 300p plus watts. The sub is so weak you don't know that it's even on. Eventhough i have out turned up all the way to 6. Don't waste your money. I listened to it in the store and it sounded great. Maybe a got a bad one

    Don't waste your money

    We purchased this soundbar and were excited to get it home and hook it up. This item added a small amount of additional sound to what we already had with our tv, but no where what I expected of this product. Very disappointing product from Samsung. We took it back and exchanged it for a Polk. Cant wait to hear it.

    SUBWOOFER WOULDN'T PAIR. SOUND BAR WORKED FINE BUT NO MATTER WHAT I DID THE SUBWOOFER WOULDN'T PAIR. I TRIED OWNERS MANUAL (WHICH WAS A JOKE) STEPS MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT SUCCESS. RETURNING BACK TO BEST BUY TOMORROW. WILL STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG SOUNDBARS

    A bit overpriced...

    The subwoofer rarely ever kicks in even when I crank it up to its highest setting. The only way it has ever been audible is when you have a bass heavy song playing. However, you can't hear it much when you're watching movies or playing video games.

    Returned this after one day. Tried all the adjustments for improving sound quality and bass was still lacking. Night and day difference from the demo mode they run in the stores. Very disappointed as I wanted compatibility with our Samsung TV.

    Not so good!!

    I'm very disappointed with the sound system. It is some what clear, but there in no base or volume. I bought what I thought was a good unit. If i still had the box I would have returned it. I bought this one because I bought a Samsung TV. I'm happy with the TV 65 inch 8000 series. I wish I could say the same about the sound system. I can kick myself, I read the reviews on the TV before I purchased, I did not look at the reviews on the sound system. I see others feel the same as I do. Lesson learned.

    Solid but bass could be better.

    The sound is on the clear side compared to most soundbars. You can hear the voices very well when watching TV. However, I wish there was a way to make the subwoofer louder when I listen to music.

      Please know that the HW-M550 has a dedicated Subwoofer level control on your remote.
      The button is labeled “WOOFER”, and is located to the right of the Volume button.
      Push the button up or down to adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12, or -6 to +6.
      Pressing the button torevert the subwoofer volume to level 0.

    Good 3.1 system

    Not a bad 3.1 system but I didn't like the weak dialog from the bar. Returned for the Bose 300 system and have been very happy. Obviously a lot more money but it's the sound I was looking for.

    Horrible

    My goodness is this soundbar bad! I have to turn it to 70 before it sounds louder than my tv speakers. Soundwoofer is horrible. Just a horrible product by Samsung!! I am very disappointed as a long time Samsung customer. I will be returning this and getting a kilpsch soundbar. This soundbar should not cost more than $100!!

    I have a Samsung 300w soundbar in my bedroom which sounds great, so i purchased this one for the living room, but we were very disappointed. It doesn't sound no where near as loud. I did read a few reviews here saying you should buy rear speakers. I wish i would have read it before i purchased it. We ended up returning it and found something else better for a little less on Amazon.

    Open Box - Excellent Review

    My review of the product is based on Best Buy's offering of the product, and not the product itself. I purchased this product from Best Buy's website as an "Open Box - Excellent" product. The description for this option advertises the product as essentially brand new, with all components, and only having the box been previously opened. After receiving the product, I missing a cord that should have been included - Optical Audio Cable. After calling best buy and explaining it was missing, they offered to provide a one free of charge. I went to my local best buy and picked it up. After I hooked up the system, I noticed the subwoofer was damaged. The sound coming from the woofer was reminiscent of vibrating paper. The system itself was fine, but my experience surrounding purchasing an "Open Box - Excellent" has been poor. I will return this unit and just buy the product new. Its not worth risking all this hassle again.

    Samsung nor I could make it work.

    I purchased this unit along with the wireless speakers at the recommendation of the salesmen at Best Buy. I was hesitant to purchase a Samsung product based on the quality issues they have had recently with their phones and washers. Upon unwrapping my soundbar and wireless speakers, I was unable to pair the speakers with the soundbar. The soundbar was not responding to the prompt as identified in the instructions. Entered the chat room and after multiple attempts including dozens of power down sequences, the technician decided it would need to be shipped off to be repaired. The repair center took about a week before they shipped it back. Unwrapped the repaired soundbar and found the problem was still present. Talked with Samsung support and their final conclusion was that it needed to be shipped of to be repaired. I was unwilling to go through the broken process again so I returned the unit.

    Subwoofer lacking

    After seeing the demo at the Best Buy store, I thought this would be amazing. However, once I got home, and turned the bass up to +6 and the subwoofer to +6, there still was barely any sound or bass coming out of the subwoofer. Looks like a trip back to the store to see if just a bad model or just the product itself.

    Waste of time and money

    This is junk. Sound is ok. But the bass is horrible and almost non existent. Stick with Sony, it is 20 times better. The bass on a Sony is awesome.

      Please check the connection between the Soundbar and other source devices, and try the following tips that may help improve the volume level.
      1. If the Soundbar is connected to a TV thru HDMI, make sure to use the HDMI-ARC jack on the TV and select “External speakers” as the TV sound output.
      2. Check the audio output format sent to the Soundbar. Typical options are PCM, Dolby Digital, and Bitstream. Select the option that optimizes the sound from your source.
      3. Change the SOUND MODE on the Soundbar using the Soundbar’s remote. Choices are STANDARD, MUSIC, CLEAR VOICE, SPORTS, or MOVIE. Select the appropriate mode for the individual room acoustics.
      4. Turn on Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holding the SOUND MODE button on the remote control while the Soundbar is in standby mode.

    Not happy

    I got the Samsung soundbar when I purchased my 55" Samsung TV. Sound is okay but after it's been on for awhile, the sound starts being all fuzzy and robotic. You can't understand anything that is said. I have to turn it off and back on to clear it out. Sometimes it does it several times in a row. And of course, the warranty was out when it started doing it.
