As a mid priced soundbar, it is quite good. Not loud, even at very high volume. But the center speaker does result in excellent dialog reproduction. The sub is merely adequate. Not capable of room shattering bass. But placed near the seating area, it does add "depth"

This past Christmas 2017 I bought the Samsung 2.1 430 soundbar and love it - it really is a great, affordable, feature-packed sound bar. The challenge I have with the 430 is simple - I had it mounted underneath my 55" Samsung 4k in my living room....which means it's a bit less wide than the 55" TV and looks kinda foolish, and, coming from a 5.1 surround system to a 2.1 for my living room the 430 just wasn't cutting it for such a large, open space. I moved the 430 to my master bedroom and have it mounted under a 40" Samsung LED..and it looks and sounds perfect. On to the 3.1. --- I had my eye on this for awhile and was waiting until the new models came out so BB would put this on clearance, OR, until I could find an open-box for a decent price. As luck would have it, BB had an open-box 3.1 550 in Downers Grove, IL for a steal. Now, the subwoofer has some obvious imperfections and visible 'scars' on it, but the sub will be hidden out of sight. No dings to Samsung or BB for that whatsoever. The person who had this before me simply didn't take care of this and that's on them. With the 550, I picked up the third speaker/center channel, the soundbar itself is several inches wider than the 430, meanwhile also contains the same key features as the 430. I was very happy to get this and for a great price. It looks much better mounted under my 55" family room television, sounds every bit or better than the 430, and if need be down the road, this model allows you to buy and pair the Samsung rear wireless speaker kit. So you can make this a 5.1 home theater if you wish. Positives: + Mounting this (and the 430 model) is simple - took me ten minutes per soundbar + Subwoofer pairing is simple - no hiccups + Bluetooth works perfectly + Digital in, HDMI, AUX, BT all provide you with the options you need to play movies/cable, music, or gaming + Affordable + Best Buy had this marked down to $200, then gave me 10% off for it being a floor model, and I had a $5 RZ certificate to use. All in for around $190 I was thrilled! Ding: - As mentioned above, the previous owner didn't seem to care too much about the subwoofer

Just purchased this soundbar on 12/2 when I purchased a new Sony 55" 900XE TV. Coming from a plasma TV so never used a soundbar before. Very satisfied with this soundbar, after getting the settings where I like them the system sounds great. For the price I paid I think it's an excellent system and I love being able to connect other bluetooth devices to it.

Easy installation, simple setup This unit produces very clean sound from the bar itself, but the subwoofer is incredibly weak. You have to crank the volume to around 70% in order to get any decent low end response, but then your ears are bleeding from the highs. Stepped up to this from the M430 because the sub was weak on that. Seems like Samsung just doesn't like bass, even if the hardware is more than capable. Returning both for refund. Bottom line, if you're just looking for something better than your built-in speakers, get the m430 at half the price. If you want to step into a home theater experience with good highs and deep bass, look elsewhere. This is only half the equation.

The system sounds nice and clear with no distortions. I have not raised the volume to the highest level due to the fact that I don't want to blow the speakers. I am still trying to improve on the bass. I like my deep bass for playing Reggae music.

I love hearing the sounds surround me. My wife wanted to reduce the amount of wires she could see, so I purchased this to replace the surround sound system I've had for 10 years. You get really good sound from shows and movies. Music sounds amazing too. Love the Bluetooth option as it makes listening tommy iPod or Pandora radio so much easier than my old plug and play system. It's surprising how loud this thing gets. Be sure to mess with the modes and settings as well. Find the right treble and bass levels and use the movie, music, sports etc modes. I like having the dedicated center channel for voice and also having the option to add on the wireless surround speakers for the full 5.1 effect is a bonus. Eventually I'll expand to those add on speakers but for now I'll enjoy what this little 3.1 system puts out.

The sound bar is of good quality. It plays good music and blends well via Bluetooth with my TV and phone. I however believe it can be improved to player louder music for bigger rooms or parties. But in all its a good product

The sound bar was easy to set up and install on the wall below the television. Great looking units. The sound is really great compared to the sound from the television. I still can't believe the great price I paid.

It was easy to set up. A major improvement to the sound of the TV. Since I bought it on a black Friday sale the price was greatly reduced. The price reduction was a major factor in this choice. I spent what was my intended amount but got a 3 speaker bar instead of a two speaker and higher wattage .

I usually listen to audio through my expensive Yamaha receiver, but wanted something with a little less overkill. This unit is perfect. I also purchased the rear surround kit (sold separately) and am very impressed. (Note: I have this paired with a Samsung 55" MU8500 TV). The sound is clear and, when the TV and source settings are properly tweeked, the surround separation results in truly 5 separate channels; of course with the .1 sub. Something to note: while you can connect the TV via Bluetooth, you will not have Dolby Digital surround, but rather 5 speakers playing the same audio. I have mine connected to the TV via HDMI ARC and that's where Dolby Digital shines. There is more than enough power to pump up the sound, and I have no problem with the bass output. Remember, the subwoofer only produces very low frequency sounds, so it is not something you hear, but something you feel. You can really put the sub almost anywhere in the room as the output is omni-directonal. This is a 3.1 soundbar, so it has a separate center channel that makes it easier to hear dialogue. There are a few settings you can control with the remote: trebel, bass (the subwoofer has its own volume button on the remote), listening mode (movie, standard, music, sports, etc., but no surround mode), turning on/off the surround speaker audio, and adjusting the surround volume. Interestingly, since there is no surround listening mode, I have to set this option in my Samsung TV's audio settings. Odd. The remote also controls the overall volume, just like the TV remote. There are some other "hidden" functions of the remote. You will have to download the complete manual (not included in the box) to enjoy all the features of the bar. I don't know if DD is passed though the optical connection between the TV and bar. I don't have that connected. I have no other connections into or out of the bar. This soundbar does not support any other decoding but Dolby Digital. Not ATMOS, DD+, or anything else. This is fine as the MU8500 only decodes DD and DD+ (if offered by the source). Honestly, unless you're an audiophile, it doesn't matter. Why did I give this four stars? Unless you are using a standard sound output, read that: not surround, there is a slight audio-sync problem. What that means is the audio sightly does not match the video. This is sometimes called lip-flap. Yes there is an audio-sync adjustment on both the TV and bar, but rather than fix the problem, they exacerbate it. Samsung is aware of the problem but, as of this writing, there is no resolution. At least according to the Samsung forums. Overall, this is an awesome soundbar and I highly recommend it.

Set up wasn't too complicated, but the instructions could be a little clearer. Can be connected using the optical cable provided or with an HDMI cable (not included) Improved the sound of my Samsung Smart TV tremendously. Its size & shape makes it easy to wall mount (brackets included) or to place on the stand in front of the TV. *Note; I did have to use something under my TV to raise it up just enough to be sure the speaker doesn't block the TV sensor for the remote.

The sound definitely delivers a cinematic audio experience. However, every now and then there is this awful popping sound out of nowhere. If SAMSUNG can work on the popping sound, I'm sure this sound bar will receive the 5 stars it deserves.

This sound bar is great. Easy set up and automatically turns off when tv is turned off( through ARC HDMI) sounds great but the optional rear speakers really make this. I was worried about some of the reviews, however it sounds great for movies and for music. Either through apps on smart tv or chrome cast ( apple tv would work also) and also through Bluetooth. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is, without the optional surround rear speakers the bar itself is lacking something when it comes to cinematic effects. The subwoofer is Ok, it seems to be louder with music than movies.

Very good sound for regular TV and good for movies. If you are looking for the full theatrical surround sound you may need to look elsewhere and, of course, spend a good deal more money. However, for the cost, this system is great.
