There sound systems in store are great but very different when you get it home.. While in store you can hear the movie from across the warehouse but in your personal house you need to turn it up loud.. We've tried to change settings and alternate through options but no difference from our old one we had.. Waste of money for us..

Thank you for purchasing this Samsung HW-M550 Soundbar System.
I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with its performance at home.
Please check the connection between the Soundbar and other source devices, and try the following tips that may help improve the volume level.
1. If the Soundbar is connected to a TV thru HDMI, make sure to use the HDMI-ARC jack on the TV and select “External speakers” as the TV sound output.
2. Check the audio output format sent to the Soundbar. Typical options are PCM, Dolby Digital, and Bitstream. Select the option that optimizes the sound from your source.
3. Change the SOUND MODE on the Soundbar using the Soundbar’s remote. Choices are STANDARD, MUSIC, CLEAR VOICE, SPORTS, or MOVIE. Select the appropriate mode for the individual room acoustics.
4. Turn on Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holding the SOUND MODE button on the remote control while the Soundbar is in standby mode.

Great Soundbar

It was supposed to be on sale for $279, but my Best Buy had an incorrect price and I actually got it for $179...about the same price as Samsung's HW170.

We are using the optical cable to connect and the connections are simple, there is no Wifi involved. But don't expect much from the sub-woofer, we can hardly feel the hum when closely observed. Honestly our 12 year old Bose 123 system sound quality is far superior but we want to avoid lot of cables around TV hence we are happy with this new Samsung unit.

Plugged everything in and was up and running in less than 5 minutes, and my TV remote controls the soundbar via ARC. Quick and easy and sounds awesome, center channel is nice to have.

I also was able to get it to sync with my phone via Bluetooth so I could stream music/audio. For the cost I think it's a very good value and does exactly what I bought it to do.

Good, crisp sound, however, the woofer is a bit distracting, especially if you have never owned one. Good product.

But I've had this system for almost a year now and had no problems from it. Decent bass and clear and adjustable mid-high frequencies.
