Beautiful screen/ annoying learning curve

The quality of this screen is amazing. I gave it 4 stars instead of five however for a few reasons:
1. This is a gaming monitor so you’d think that since the Xbox pass is literally programmed into it it would show in full screen but only the inputs in the back do so you have to plug your gaming system in or computer in to view full screen
2. Who ever decided the ports for this was not thinking clearly here (display port and micro hdmi) just why?? Just means most everyone has to buy adapters to make their inputs compatible
3. There’s a major learning curve here and I feel like the buttons on the remote should have been better utilized to make switching between computer-game-to whatever you have plugged into it easier rather than putting Netflix/ Disney +/prime/ext on there
Overall it’s still a beautiful screen and enhances my setup so well

If youre trying to decide between the AW or the G8

Go with the AW. This monitor is great. Its the same panel as the AW, so they look mostly identical. I went with the G8 because of the aesthetics of the actual monitor itself and I regret it. The "Smart TV OS" on this monitor is so invasive. I get a standby screen every time I turn my PC on until the display port finally gets recognized. At that point I'm already at the log in screen. If I want to get into the BIOS, I have to start up my PC, and then restart it so I see the boot menu.

Could have been so much better

This monitor is a great monitor, but it could have been so much better. First off, QD OLED is awesome, it's very bright when needed, and colors look great. A big downfall of this monitor is that Samsung decided to put their SmartUI/Tizen on it, when it doesn't need that. It's a monitor, not a smart TV. All they did was slow the device down. Additionally, they added things like ARC on the device, that's awesome.... until you remember there's only 1 HDMI port on the monitor, so if you have devices like your PC, or like consoles that support Atmos... you can't use it. Had they simply put 2 HDMI ports on it, it would have then made way more sense to include ARC. Another issue, while on the topic of ports, they decided to go with mini-displayport and micro-hdmi.... why? Who knows, but they also feel the need to only include a mini-displayport cable with it, if you're spending $1500, the least they can do is include a cable for their non-standard ports. No C to C, no Micro-HDMI, cheap. The USB-C port with PD and video is a nice feature as a work laptop dock, but instead of another downstream type-C, they could have simply added another HDMI, still providing the monitor with quality features over the other QD options of Alienware. I realize this is a small issue, and I could resolve this issue by simply using DP to DP from GPU to PC, then using HDMI to my AV receiver, but then Windows treats it like an additional screen, and will sometimes default to that screen, even though it's not set as main. For $1500, you're really not gaining anything over the Alienware DW, but you'd be saving money going with the DW, while getting G-Sync Ultimate, and with the DWF, you're saving even more at almost $500.
For gaming, it is still amazing, since it is still a QD OLED panel at the end of the day. But the flaws above simply put it in a spot where it doesn't work for those looking to get a full gaming experience. If you have any sort of surround sound, you won't be able to use ARC/eARC for it because you're stuck to video over DisplayPort, which won't transfer anything but stereo over its cable, even going from HDMI GPU to DP Monitor, it just simply can't do it. If you're just going to use a stereo sound system, you'll have no issues, and it can be a great monitor for your use.
It's hard to recommend this item over the others, for the benefit of getting HDMI 2.1, for $500 less, I'd get the DWF almost every time. It's a clean looking monitor, very thin compared to the others, and the stand is much more profession looking, rather than gaming looking, but again, not sure that justifies $500 more.

Fantastic build quality and great picture. I looked at the other offerings of this panel and the samsung is way nicer. The mini dp and hdmi are annoying but not a deal breaker. Use dp to avoid the washed out overly bright default that hdmi brings.

Could this be the best 34 QD-Oled monitor?

If you are looking into getting the G8 Oled, you probably by now may know a couple of complaints.
1) Having mini hdmi and dp connections.
2) not including a mini hdmi, and having a hard time finding that has good quality specs and longer than 3feet was a challenge.
3) dealing with random monitor going to sleep with DP connection.
So if you are like me, and knew already what to expect. You to have to ask yourself, is it worth the headache?
If you have an Nvidia card. Then Yes.
If you can wait a little and find on sale like i did for 1k. Then Yes.
If you are debating between the AW DWF34 and the G8 Oled and is thinking of going with the G8 Oled. DO IT!
While very similar, the G8 Oled is a bit brighter specially after tweaking settings. Samsung has release resent firmware which has helped overall.
At the 1k price range the best 34 QD-Oled considering some of the initial drawbacks, I believe is the G8 Oled.
Hope this helps.

Amazing Monitor !!!. I also own the Samsung Odysee G9 49inch Neo 4k as well, and I can honestly say that as far as picture quality goes I think that the G8 has a slightly better display. Another feature That i love about the G8 is the fact that it can also be used as a smart TV. And my favorite feature is because I am on the Samsung ecosystem I can with the click of a button cast any of my devices to the monitor wirelessly. Build quality is amazing, and if you want to game in 4k you can totally do that with a 175hz refresh rate which I also love about this monitor. I'm telling if you have the money to spend this is the monitor that you really need to consider pulling the trigger on. and yes it has freesynce and all the bells and whisles that you would want out of a high end gaming monitor.

Nice monitor, love the contrast ratio, motion clarity as well as colors! HDR looks amazing on it and playing games like Baldur's Gate 3 or Cyberpunk make the game really pop. Just make sure your graphics card is running fast enough to do it justice as you want to enjoy the 175 hz and I suggest having atleast 100fps in your games to really appreciate the display. The software that is built in with netflix and amazon etc is a nice thing to have too.
However there are some weird things about this monitor. Micro DP is the connector that comes with it. This isn't standard and you can always just use HDMI. However there is a weird bug in that sometimes it doesn't wake from sleep mode and you have to use the remote that comes with it to turn the display on. Not the worst thing in the world but it does happen occasionally. Overall I am really happy with the purchase. With anything oled it might be wise to purchase the extended warranty for 3-4 years as it will ease your mind for any possible burn in.
I would recommend this monitor.

Monitor is great. Color is a little on the warm side or I probably got used to cool monitors/TVs in the past. Color settings are hard to adjust/calibrate (I'm no expert and just use Spyderpro and Displaycal). Micro HDMi has EARC and works great if you have an Atmos Soundbar (PC cannot set Atmos in sound settings since it does not recognize the monitor as Atmos capable). Dolby Digital+ and CEC/ARC control work great/perfectly. Wish it had a USB hub and standard inputs (it has micro hdmi and mini DP). More Inputs would be great too. Tizen software was a little buggy and laggy. It was fixed after a firmware update though. HDR is bright but don't expect it to be as bright as IPS/VA panels. Everything works and the design is very simple but has great quality.

Ultrawide gaming is great when a game supports it. I mainly play games on this thing, but it also doubles up as a tv when my computer is off as it has built in streaming apps. Productivity wise, it's also pretty good as I can open up 2 app and have them each take up half of the screen.

Stellar display! The individual OLEDs tun off and on providing for true deep blacks for that near infinite contrast ratio. Its so true.... once you go OLED, you just cant go back. The display is both Freesync and GSync compatible, can run at 165hz for buttery smooth gaming. I love that it has built in speakers and the Samsung tizen app has some surprisingly good stuff, including Disney Plus , netflix and Amazon prime. Even Geforce Now works directly from the monitor which is great. Only things you should be aware of: first, i did not buy this monitor for static office work or using splitscreen. Burn-in is a real concern for me. Im only using it for media and videogames. Second, you need to purchase your own micro HDMI cable if using HDMI 2.1, which is a little annoying. Other than that, great monitor, one of the best. Better than the Alienware, as its really the same panel but looks so much nicer, with Samsung apps and speakers included.

This is a very good product, picture quality is excellent and I often find something to do on my computer just to gaze at it. I hate that no micro hdmi cable comes in the box, if you buy this monitor you will need to buy one because you will end up not being able to use your new shiny computer for the first day or two.

Pros: Great body build quality and panel resolution.
Cons: The colors on this monitor are way too saturated. I've experienced Samsung color profiles before, but you can usually easily correct and adjust. This monitor was hard to make adjustments on and would usually reset after a while. Also had a huge problem with it not recognizing the input after my PC went to sleep, so I had to do a forced shutdown and power it back on for the monitor to finally recognize input. Also, this monitor has Smart TV features that I wish you could disable and just use as a regular computer monitor.
My biggest gripe though? I spent 3 weeks experiencing horrible headaches, nausea, jaw clenching, high blood pressure, and anxiety. One day I noticed a high-pitched sound emitting from the monitor as images changed on it. The culprit? Coil whine that would change pitch according to images on the monitor. I exchanged the monitor for another brand and all the symptoms went away. Be aware because, after a quick search, I found this to be a problem for many Samsung monitor models.

I finally decided to treat myself and get an oled monitor. I'm glad I did. The picture quality is amazing, response times are super fast. No ghosting at all, no smearing like a Va panel and low input lag.
Well worth the price I paid. Got the 4 year warranty also as it covers burn in.
It has a smart os like a tv which is nice and it comes with a remote. I wish more monitors did this as it's easier than trying to adjust some goofy buttons on the back of the panel. Good job Samsung, great monitor

Overall this monitor is great if you can get it on sale. The panel itself has amazing color accuracy and is just about what you would expect from an OLED screen. It would be hard for me to go back to a different panel that is not OLED.
The only issues I have with it are similar to what others have reported. If your PC goes to sleep and you are using a displayport cable, the monitor will not wake back up. Samsung has been aware of this issue for over a year and state they will fix it with firmware updates, but have yet to make good on this.
The other issue seems to be with the recent batch of monitors. There are reports of coil whine on some recent units and mine so happened to be one of those. It has been two weeks and my unit has started to show the slightest signs of coil whine. We'll see if this continues to get worse or not. For now it is bearable but I can't say the experience will be the same with other units. Just something to keep in mind.
This monitor is great at a discounted price if you can look past mini connections, bad smart tv software, sleep issues, and coil whine. I wouldn't be able to justify spending full price on this monitor. If these are things that would bug you as a consumer then I suggest looking into a different monitor.

Really happy so far with this display. My PC games have never looked so vibrant and detailed, and the immersion offered by ultrawide is superb. I can never go back to an IPS or VA panel after being spoiled by the black levels and color accuracy of OLED. Purchased over the Alienware DWF due to the aesthetics and minimal depth, which frees up more desk space. The Alienware does have a much better warranty against burn-in, so time will tell what happens with this monitor.
One minor gripe is that I have a Samsung TV located in the same room that this monitor and the remote to the TV or monitor inevitably turns the other device on or off. There is seemingly no way to re-program either remote, so beware if you have another Samsung TV nearby.
