The induction system makes it much safer and dramatically reduces the chance of an accidental burn. That worked great for the 1 year warranty. Two months after the warranty ended, I get an error code F0 and the cooktop will not work. Samsung tech wants to charge $300 just to come look at it. I loved this thing but considering it broke this quickly and service cost is absurd, I'd be cautious about buying this. If you decide to buy anyhow, purchase the extended protection.

This new one has all the bells and whistles and works really well. I like the WIFI feature. Definitely an upgrade with the new technology.

if you only boil water, this is for you

But if you want accurate touch sensors and if you like evenly cooked pancakes, don't get this cooktop. We have tried to get the issue fixed but Samsung refuses to acknowlege the problem unless we have tons of video footage. I'm busy cooking, I'm not about to whip out my camera every single time my food is cooking unevenly.
