We looked at a lot of reviews for the different condensing and heat pump dryers, and settled on the heat pump since they're really efficient, and don't blow all that hot air outside or back into the room - but we didn't want to spend a fortune on the miele, and bosch doesn't offer their heat pump dryer in the US yet (no plans when we asked). The samsung has a much better price and seems to have all the features. We opted for the direct drain, so it sends all the water down the washer drain and otherwise there's just the normal lint trap to clean and it's done. We had an old LG that wasn't drying completely on the auto cycle anymore, so it was taking a couple tries and seemed to run a long time - so it's nice that the samsung dries the clothes completely the first time and they're perfect. It defaults to an estimate of 2 hours for a normal (really full) load, but has always finished much faster - usually around 1:30. The air temperature in the room may go up a degree or two, but it doesn't increase the humidity. Once the heat pump dryers reach a good sales volume in the US, the price will come down - and it's worth spending more for the savings in electricity and the peace of mind knowing it can't start a fire like the hot air dryers can.

Love the quiet operation, and love that it needs no vent! Takes longer than a vented dryer, but worth waiting for. Excellent machine.

Died in less than 4 years -- not covered by warranty. The repairman said it would cost more to fix than to buy a new one. Ventless dryers are universally considered dead last in performance. It takes days to dry something.
