Spend some extra money on a better one

You had to be on top of the soundbar for it to work, when it worked and the buttons on the front were so hard to see. The big issue with this is it turned on when you turned the tv on so it was a real pain.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the HW-A470 Soundbar with included Wireless Rear Speaker Kit. Your experience regarding lack of sound from the rear speakers is very important to us. If you set the sound mode to SURROUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE, you will get surround sound effect from the rear speakers.
If you are still not hearing sound from the rear speakers, please make sure the connection between the soundbar and rear speakers was successful by powering on the soundbar and checking for a solid blue light on the wireless module for the rear speakers. If the light is blinking, or is red instead of blue, the speakers will need to manually be connected to the soundbar.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-A470 Soundbar and for sharing your feedback regarding the included remote control. Please know that many of the buttons on your remote have multiple functions. For example, the Volume button is moved UP/DOWN to adjust volume, and to MUTE the sound, you need to PRESS it in. Pressing it a second time will unmute.
Please refer to pages 22-26 of the of the Full Manual for details on using the remote control including buttons with more than one function.

Extremely Disappointing and Frustrating

This is the worst sound system I have ever owned. The reason for this is that it constantly disconnects for about a second and then comes back on, it is so frustrating and distracting that I can't even stand to use it. Something is wrong with the wireless connection, but even if I move the speakers right next to the sound bar and TV, they still cut out constantly. The sub also cuts out constantly. On the rare occasion that it happens to work for more than 10 seconds at a time, the sound quality is still poor. Waste of money and completely useless with the issues.

Your thoughts regarding the surround sound performance of your new Soundbar and Rear Speakers is important to us and will be shared with our product teams. Our HW-A470 4.1ch Soundbar was designed to deliver immersive surround sound. Speakers firing from the front and behind bring the surround sound to life. To improve your surround sound experience, you may want to try adjusting the sound mode. The Surround mode may provide you with an improved and more immersive surround sound experience.
Press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE SOUND.
Additionally, If your Digital Output Audio Format is set to PCM then you will likely notice decreased performance with surround sound audio systems. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 5.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.
On a Samsung TV this setting can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)

I have a pretty nice wired sour round system in my recreation room. This one was purchased for a den. As others have said, the instructions were terrible. The product is actually not that complicated to set up. The problem is the rear speakers did not work and the sound of the subwoofer was very low making you second guess set up. I returned it and got the Vizio 5.1 M Series - not much more and worth it!

I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the out of box experience provided by your new HW-A470 soundbar. We appreciate the feedback you have provided regarding the available connections and ability to be controlled by a universal remote.
You may be able to adjust the HW-A470 Soundbar volume using the remote control used for the TV by adjusting the settings within the soundbar. This function can be used with IR remote controls only. Bluetooth remote controls (remote controls that require pairing) are not supported. Set the TV speaker to External Speaker to use this function. 1) Turn Off the Soundbar. 2) Push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “Samsung-TV Remote” (Default mode), “Off-TV Remote”, “All-TV Remote”.
Additionally, you can try contacting the manufacturer of your remote. Most universal remotes are compatible with Samsung products and may require additional steps to control your unit.

I had high hopes, but you get what you pay for.

They were great speakers until recently, because the sound bar started to sound blown out on the right side. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but even by my untrained ear, it sounded awful. I've never been let down by Samsung in the (close to) 10 years I've owned their products but this was definitely a disappointment.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Samsung HW-A470. We appreciate your feedback regarding the setup and connection issues with your rear speakers.
When powered on for the first time, the rear speakers and subwoofer should automatically connect wirelessly. If the auto-connection process fails, you can try manually connecting the sub and rears to the soundbar.
To manually setup the wireless rear speaker kit included with the soundbar if the auto connection process fails, first use the color-coded speaker wires to connect the rear speakers to its wireless module and place these three in the back of your room. Plug the wireless receiver module power cord into an electrical outlet and into the wireless receiver module to turn on the wireless receiver module.
Turn off your soundbar and press the Up button on the remote for 5 seconds. The ID SET message will appear on the soundbar for a short time and then disappear. After the ID SET process, the soundbar power is automatically turned on. The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the soundbar and the wireless receiver module.

You may first want to try checking the sound format on your TV to ensure you are getting the best experience for a surround sound setup. If your Digital Output Audio Format is set to PCM then you will likely notice decreased performance with surround sound audio systems. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.

Please also make sure Dynamic Range Control is turned off. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode.

I bought this unit at Best Buy in mid March. Unfortunately, i became very sick and i had to stay at the hospital for almost 4 weeks. I came home, tried to put this thing together and it does not work. I tried to return it and i was told i cant do it. This is so unprofessional, I will never ever buy anything from Best Buy.

NOT wireless rear speakers.

They need to be plugged into the receiver with the cords ran to the speakers. Once I got it hooked up, the volume out of the rear speakers is very minimal even with the sound adjusted. On sale because it’s junk. Would not recommend!

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A470 Soundbar System which comes with a subwoofer and rear speaker kit. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the wireless description of the rear speakers
Occasionally, customers have trouble hiding and running speaker wires from the front of the room (where their soundbar is) to the back of their room (where they have their rear speakers). The Rear Speaker Kit eliminates that hassle. Connect the rear speakers to its wireless module and place these three in the back of your room. One wire is required to connect each rear speaker to the wireless module. Then plug in the power cable to the module. The “wireless” convenience is in connecting your soundbar and any other speakers at the front of the room to the rear speakers – this can now be done via Wi-Fi through the wireless module, eliminating any clutter of long wires running the length of your room.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought having rears would help. Too low to notice. Front sounds muffled. Too low overall in sound quality. Sub only adds to response at near fully being raised to 80 to 100. Don't recommend!

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A470 and for sharing your review. Your feedback regarding the overall sound quality of your soundbar is important to us and will be shared with our product teams. There are multiple audio quality adjustments that can be made to tune the sound to your liking.
You can try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.
With the sound mode set to standard, press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands.
Please know, the purpose of the subwoofer is to reproduces low frequency sounds and not musical tones. It adds rich tones and deepens sound effects, like the rumbles of an explosion or the depth in bass guitars and drums.
Try these adjustments that can be made for bass and subwoofer:
1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down
2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.
