This is my first front-loading machine, and I chose Samsung because they are highly rated by both Consumer Reports (this particular model didn't rate highest, but still faired better than the standard brands like Kenmore) and by customers who have posted ratings online. I bought the washer and dryer, and I splurged on the storage bins that raise them up (although I DO NOT recommend the storage, there isn't anything that I use that actually fits under them - complete waste of money). Washer Pros: -Musical start/stop (cheeky, but it's cute) -Quieter than I expected -Power button, Start button -Amazingly brilliant with fabric softener (clothes smell better than with the downy ball) -Allows for powdered detergent, recommends liquid -Ease of controls and understanding how to make changes -Water temp options -Easily add an additional spin or rinse cycle -My clothes smell clean -Ability to turn off the musical sounds the unit makes Washer Cons: -YOU MUST let the washer dry after use, before you close the door or it will mildew (I have been washing towels last and wiping up an extra water before dropping them into the dryer) -WAY bigger than expected, don't fit into my standard laundry closet -Storage bins hold nothing practical under the washer -heavily soiled whites didn't get as clean as I'd like in one wash cycle -End of cycle song is a little longer than I need it to be (but silencing the music is easy) Overall, I am not completely sold on front-load washers being more efficient or better in any way except my clothes smell so much better. I do like these, and if I have any experiences of note, I'll update my rating. Best Buy usually has a killer sale on these (I paid $599, then they had them on sale for $579), and I got a price match on a competitor price - which is why I really love Best Buy.

I was a little apprehensive to purchase this washer with all concern regarding mold but this machine has a self cleaning cycle so I made the jump. I washed my whites and they looked brand new so much different the my old washer I had to re wash all my whites in the new machine. The clothes come out so clean! I love it. The washer is so quiet too. I can't even hear it running. Energy efficient as well as water saver. Now since I've bought this model I been re washing all my clothes so I can get that fresh clean scent I'm sure I won't be saving on my water bill this month but I am looking forward to years of dependable washing and would repurchase this machine all over again. Also I use a lot less detergent. Thanks.

This model does an excellent job cleaning clothes and is very easy to use. Even though it may seem to have a much smaller feature list than the more expensive models, it has many cycles and works well. I noticed a huge improvement in the cleanliness of my clothes. It also seems to do a great job spin drying them as they clothes feel nearly dry when I remove them. The capacity is quite good too.

We've been using the washer and matching dryer for one month. Both are more efficient than my old topload washer and older electric dryer. The spin on the washer is very efficient and the dryer takes no time at all. I'm not a fan of both being close to the floor but will be stacking them in the future. Otherwise, being tall, would consider pedestals. Wish the washer had a small load cycle. Otherwise both machines have all the options most people would want. We have had no problem with vibration mentioned in other reviews, so much quieter than anything we've ever had. Our laundry is right next to the bedroom so we notice if something is running. Uses so little water that we can run the dishes, take a shower, and not even notice when the washer runs the rinse cycle...all at the same time. We have been leaving the washer door a bit open between use to keep the inside of the machine from remaining damp.

I am very pleased with my purchase. The washer uses minimal water, and washes well. I also noted that it dries the clothes better than my previous washer. I am able to wash my king sized comforters without issues so it accommodates the weight well. It also does not make much noise which is ideal for me. Overall great buy! I will now buy the matching electric dryer.

We bought this washer at Christmas, but with weekly laundry duties, I've put it through about 15 loads so far. I didn't really think that I would use all the differet settings, but I've tried to experiment with them and everything seems to come out clean. I love the bedding option as my old washer - a top loader over 20 years old - really couldn't wash my comforters well. If you've never had a front load, the first time will be an experience! I kept telling my husband that it couldn't be working as I had visions of the tub actually filling with water and being able to see the clothes slosh around. In actuality, they just seemed to be tumbling back and forth with a little water splashed over them now and then. But one of the more heavily soiled items was indeed clean when it came out. And the family still smiles when they hear the "buzzer" go off as the sound is more of a little song. The only thing I'm not sure I like is that you can't just dump the clothes in the tub and you have to make sure nothing has fallen out or getting stuck in the door before you close it. The washer is extremely quiet but the "buzzer" is quiet as well and I don't always hear it to know when the clothes are done. The four stars are simply because I don't feel like I've had the washer long enough to know whether it will be durable enough to warrant a 5 star rating.

Well the day finally came when my old washing machine gave out. I was hoping to get a new energy efficient washer and dryer set. Sticker shock ensued to say the least when I went to look at them...$1500...., $1800..., $2000!!!! To do laundry ???!! Yikes. The ratings I checked said that Samsung and LG where to top two brands to seriously consider. I found this matching pair at a great price about 2 weeks before "Black Friday" and am very pleased with them. They are slick looking, easy to operate, quiet, and hardly use any water....or electricity for that matter! The high speed rinse is my favorite feature. When I do a load of dress shirts it whips them around so fast they are almost dry when they come out... and thus only need about 15 or 20 minutes in the dryer to finish. I am very pleased with this pair and you will be too.

We have a large family and live on a farm so having a washer that has lots of options, cleans even the toughest of stains and removes all traces of dirt well, runs quietly and is energy efficient is very important to my family! This washer meets all those needs! I love it! I highly recommend! It's also a large capacity so we can get our large loads done effectively!

Now, I'm only knocking off a star because I can't use the fastest spin cycle on every preset, and because the presets aren't as flexible in terms of temperature and spin speed as I would like. Otherwise, I love this washer because it does everything I need it to do, and can get things done either super quickly or super well. Besides, it sings to me when it turns on or finishes a load, which is really charming. The normal cycles are great if you're in a hurry or if your clothes never really get dirty. "Normal" works well for things like t-shirts and jeans. "Quick wash" is good for washing that last-minute blouse for an event that starts in two hours--you can wash and dry it with plenty of time left over to do your makeup or take a shower. "Bedding" is great because it doesn't tangle up your sheets (though, this won't use the fastest spin cycle). The machine will tailor water usage to the load size without hammering the pipes, and will remain unlockable for about five minutes in case you suddenly realize that you dropped a sock on the way to the laundry room. (Seriously, that's an amazing feature!) However, this machine's greatest strength is the heavy duty cycle. On eco warm, it's not bad on heating costs, and though it takes about 45 mins longer than a normal cycle, it will get almost any dirt out of any material, as long as you're using proper amounts of detergent. With someone in the house working for a precast concrete manufacturer, and another who does a lot of gardening and cleaning, this feature is indispensable. You can put a floor cleaning microfiber pad, work pants covered in concrete dust, and some filthy gardening gloves in a single load, and they'll come out clean and fresh. (Though, just don't expect miracles for permanent stains or natural wear and tear from use.) There's also a lint trap which helps cut down on things like pet hair and loose fiber from your clothing, but you will need to clean it out every so often. Lastly, this machine's fastest spin cycle is 1200 RPM, which is on the higher end--800 RPM being on the lower end. The higher the RPM, the more water it squeezes out of your clothes, and the less time your clothes spend in a dryer. Combined with a dryer that has sensor dry tech (like the matching set to this machine), your energy costs will be much lower than with an old top-load washer and an older dryer without sensor dry. Regardless of your washer choice or budget allocation, make sure you go for the highest spin speed you can afford. Lucky for me, this machine met all the requirements. I would recommend this machine if you: - Work construction, garden a lot, or need something that can launder just about anything - Have an old top-loader and just want to upgrade to something nice and simple without breaking the budget - Have or plan on getting a dryer with sensor dry technology (or if you find that your clothes take forever to dry) Do NOT pick this machine if you need to sanitize or wash things like baby diapers--there's a different model in this machine's generation with that setting. This model has basic settings only. PRO TIP: If you do choose this washer, or any other front loader, make sure that you leave the door wide open after every load to let it dry out. This will prevent mold and mildew buildup, and you won't get that musty smell that a lot of people will complain about with machines like this. The gasket on this machine is really good, so even if you crack it open, there won't be enough airflow to let it dry. Just leave the door open for a day and close it when you remember to later on.

I read the other reviews and have been drying the rubber gasket (around the door), the door, and pull out drawer for detergent etc after each use. I also leave the door open and the drawer pulled out in between use. Doing this, I have not had any issues with smell or mildew. I guess this is a common issue to all front loader. But can be completely prevented by taking these steps. The machine works well, gets the clothes clean and uses less water than old machine. And it is pretty quiet, quieter for sure than my old top loader. I'm happy with it so far. I also read research that front loaders put out about 60% less micro plastic pollution (from our synthetic fabric clothes) than top loaders into the waste water that eventually ends up in rivers and ocean. This was part of my reason for getting a front loader. Its also great that I could stack dryer on top, freeing up room in my small laundry room. This was a very reasonably priced front loader and works great.

My Maytag broke down after only 2+ years of use. It's the electronic board that needs to be replaced - for over $ 300. The motor and the rest of the mechanical parts are still perfect. That sounds silly! Who would pay that kind of money for the repair? I asked the repair guy who did the diagnosis what brand he would recommend. Without thinking he said Samsung. I seized a deal on an open box item, and saved additional $ with an active promo. This washer feels solid. It is so quiet, except for some minor squeaking that sounds like a spring was pulled. Other than that, it remains very quiet even during the final high speed spinning. The clothes came out drier than any of the washers I had used in the past. Another high point for a front loader is that it uses significantly less amount of water. At first I was skeptical if that much water could wash a load of clothes. I was amazed. Tips to share: after done using be sure to open the front door and pull the detergent tray out to let moisture evaporate to prevent mold from growing. Highly recommend it!

(Written by a man BTW) Without a doubt, there is a huge difference between this washer and others. I'd actually expand that to not just this washer but the ability to have a front load washer. First, they are incredibly quiet. Second, very efficient, using very little water that you can see. Last but not least, the clothes come out barely damp after spinning... all in all, very pleased with the purchase and do recommend. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING GETTING ONE, please look for open boxes in a store near you. Many stores have open boxes, I got mine for hundreds of dollars cheaper because it was an open box.

So far, so good. Takes a little getting used to since I've only owned top load agitator style machines previously. Has done a great job cleaning everything I've put in it so far. I was set on purchasing a top load HE machine until the sale started on 11/4, but decided on this because you can't beat the price!!!! Price of front load machines are usually out of the price range of what I'm willing to spend, but this was the same price as the top load machine I was going to buy with a better rebate!

I really like this washing machine. It is easy to use and fit a ton of clothes compared to my previous regular capacity top loader. I do not use nearly as much laundry soap either, yet my clothing comes out clean. My only complaint is that it can start to smell a little like mildew if you close the door after use without letting it dry. I just leave the door open when its not in use, and it works fine. Also, I am not a big fan of having to drain it and clean it fairly often, but I am sure that is the case with all front loaders. Overall, I'd definitely buy this again. The price was right and with a family of 6, you cannot beat the ability to fit an entire laundry hamper worth of clothing into one load!

We got this set because our old top loader was way out of balance, and we were a bit skeptical about these, as neither of us have had He washers or side oafish machines. They are amazing though! All of our laundry comes out clean and fresh, and we have a 2 year old, so we do a lot of laundry...they are whisper quiet, we only use 2 tbsp of laundry soap(tide) and it creates a lot of suds and smells great! I recommend this set to anyone that wants a great looking, and working new washer/dryer. Oh yeah, they also play music when they are done!

I bought this and its matching dryer sight unseen based solely on the reviews. They are huge! I had the space, but be sure to measure or look at them in person before purchasing. That said, it is awesome to finish my laundry with half the number of loads, I'm loving the large capacity. The clothes are really clean with very little laundry detergent. The cycles do take longer, but that is the trade off you get for the efficiency and large size.

Love this washer! Yes, it does have a “new” smell the first few washes, but it quickly goes away. Love the self clean feature! Also love all the settings. It took a few uses to get used to having so many options and buttons, but now I could never go back! Quiet, so efficient, and have already seen a difference in my water bills. And I’ve never had a mildew or smell problem from sitting water. It’s not an inconvenience, I just leave the door open and the drawer open after use to let it dry out. No problems!
