Bought this size to fit an existing upright entertainment center. TV does a good setup recognizing what it is connected to except satellite box.
It is a DVR type and named it a blue ray player. Have several other Samsung TVs but this one is the best so far.

I recently needed to buy a new TV since my other one was starting to go, so I figured I might as well upgrade to a 4K TV. I saw this one and loved that it was a 4K Smart TV. However aside from it not coming with a 4K HDMI cable (not a huge deal, just more of an annoyance), I noticed they also offer the same TV but it's $100 more and I couldn't figure out why. Come to find out, this TV DOESN'T come with HDR (High Dynamic Range) and the other TV does. Also with this TV, straight out of the box and turned on, none of the 4K Ultra HD settings are turned on. So once you unbox it and turn the TV on, it's just a regular 1080P 60HZ TV. I only found this out after doing some research online a week ago, and found all the settings you need to set your TV to, in order for it to fully be in full 4K and 120HZ. Had I known this beforehand, while looking at TVs, I would have opted to pay the extra $100 for the TV that has everything all set and ready to go out of the box, rather than finding out online that you have to find the settings inside the TV and manually turn them on to get the best picture quality. After turning all the settings on, I did make a pretty good difference, but now the TV seems to be set too dark and even after turning up the brightness, it's still too dark. Overall, it's a good TV, but you're best bet is to pay the extra $100 for the better TV.

Easy setup. I have DirecTV and the "point and shoot" set up was very cool. All in all couldn't be much happier.
The "micro" function remote works, but ouch. all the combinations to use and remember.....Plus the remote is SMALL.. in a bedroom it'll get lost in comforters, etc. You may want to get a good universal remote system (think Harmony) and put the original in a nightstand drawer for emergency use.
picture perfect. 4K tests out of youtube and other network site were awesome as was Netflix 4K offerings. Now to get enabled for 4K direcTV and we're good to go!

We have been very pleased with our Samsung tv. The remote takes getting used to using, but the picture is gorgeous(better than our 2 Vizios). I would definitely buy this tv again, especially for the great price we got as it is was on sale.

I was looking for a TV to replace a 37 in model I had hung over the fireplace. I found the Samsung 40 in 4K model that was on sale! Although the screen size of 40 inches is larger than the 37 inch model it replaced, because of a smaller trim around the edge, the TV actually uses LESS wall space than before.
The image is clean and crisp! There is a rich, broad range of colors, with the darks much deeper than anything TV I've had before.
I am pleased with the model. It is a smart TV, so I can watch netflicks without use of an Apple TV!

Everything about the Samsung TV UHD is top notch except for the remote. Remote is very difficult to use for anyone over 40. It is small. It has no markings for up, down, right or left on the toggle ring. Poor design. Cannot tell where on the ring your finger is by tactile (touch). Ring completely smooth as is the select button. Have to have a bright light on to determine where to place your finger to make the control do what you want such as go right, left, up or down. Instructions are a pain because they are in the online guide of the user manual and you have to bounce back and forth between the on screen user guide and the setting up of the remote. A real pain int ***. Trying to save trees by not providing a hard copy of the user manual with the TV is not a good idea. If you want the manual you have to go to the Samsung web site, locate the model of TV you have, download a .pdf file and then print the manual yourself. Manuial is a 143 pages long. Intend to print manual and see if I can get the remote programmed to respond to voice commands. Review of this process will follow. AT THIS TIME I WOULD ONLY RECOMMEND THIS REMOTE TO PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 40 WHO ARE VIDEO GAMERS.

Set up is in many ways self-explanatory, but we spent a worried 36 hours until v helpful Samsung rep suggested we restart our modem and then restart TV - after that worked liked a charm. It's a shame you can't save profiles of settings, as particular viewing modes need a fair bit of tweaking to be at their best. We looked online for users' best settings. Remote is hard to use in low light, and there is no way to make settings menu a shortcut, but the online menu system is generally pretty good. Don't have too much to compare it with, but picture quality seems to us really excellent once we had tweaked the settings

I purchased this tv to replace an old Sony Bravia 32" from 2009. The tv itself is fantastic, the quality exceeds that of the old Bravia, could not be more satisfied with this purchase. The picture is sharp and the audio is decent for the stock speakers. I did pick up the Insignia sound bar that was on sale, which does add a little boost to the audio. My only problem with this purchase was that they would not price match to amazon due to the "Black Friday" rules. Really? If your policy is to not be beat on price, than you should honor that all year round. I will take this into account during my next purchase, but for now, I would recommend this tv if you are looking for a good quality flat screen.

Excellent picture and better than decent speaker quality for a bedroom/secondary TV.
The simplified remote and interface work well but almost a bit too basic (I.e no numbers on the remote... scroll can be slightly annoying).
Recommend you pair this TV with a secondary/universal remote

I've had the tv a few weeks now and am quite happy with it. Setup was easy, it hooked to my network without a problem. To me the color was fine right out of the box so I didn't have to adjust any settings. I think the sound out of the internal speakers was probably fine but I added a Samsung sound bar. I think the picture quality is very good, I haven't tried a DVD yet but that hooked up easily as did the sound bar. Overall I am quite pleased with the tv.

My spouse and I enjoy this TV very much due to it's clear and crisp picture along with the vibrant colors with excellent contrast. We use the TV with streaming services so the Smart built in apps are great. This is our bedroom TV and the 40" size is perfect to fit inside the armoire we use to hide the electronics from view. This is our second Samsung. In the past we had Sony and Vizio brands but find the quality of the Samsung to be excellent.

Samsung makes good products that are easy to install, set up and use. And the key performance attribute, the picture quality, is excellent. We did not go for the latest Ultra HD television but we are still very pleased with the pixel density, the contrast and the color gamut.

The set up , Smart TV feature and remote were all very easy to comprehend. The picture is fantastic going from a Sony 1060p. There was very little adjustments needed for the picture as presented out of the box. The sound coming form the set's speaker is adequate in a kitchen, but when I can afford it a Sonos sound bar to get it in my Sonos system.

I purchased this Samsung 40" 4K for my bedroom to replace an older model 32" led that took up the same amount of space as this new 40" Samsung. Set up was easy and connectivity to my home wifi seamless. The picture quality is way better than I had ever expected and the remote control looks too simple, yet with the few buttons that it does have, you'll be surprised at how many features and controls that you have access to as if this was a complex multi button remote. The audio is very good though I plan on connecting the TV additional stereo system components and etc. If there is a drawback to this Samsung, it would be that I wish the remote control would light up in the dark, even though you could memorize 8 buttons and a shuffle control pad. I love my new Samsung!
