What an upgrade, really enjoying watching this TV

We finally jettisoned our analog TV (along with Cable) and purchased this 40" Samsung Smart HDTV after doing some review checking. We are very pleased with this TV. The picture is so clear it is almost 3D looking. The "smart" features are easy to use. We got this "smaller" TV (by today's standards) because we do not spend much time watching television and so we appreciate its ease of operation and the great picture. We especially like being able to access Netflix directly with the TV remote without the use of another device. We were able to purchase this on sale another plus! We use an indoor digital amplified antenna.

Love Samsung Products, have 3 of them!

All Samsung products purchased have been amazing! I was able to save a lot of money purchasing "Open Box" items on both my 40" & 55" Samsung HDMI Smart TV's. I am extremely satisfied with them as well as the accessories purchased! I was also able to pay for them with my Best Buy Credit Card and have enough time to pay them off with 0% financing for 24 months.

    So Far So Good

Bought this because it was a "smart TV" and we wanted to replace an older Samsung. This TV was a good price and got good reviews. Much lighter than the older Samsung. Set up was easy and intuitive. I am trying to explore all the features. I really like the smart features and downloaded an app for my IPad that enables me to watch videos, pictures and listen to my music on the TV. I am sure I will appreciate the features as I explore more in the weeks ahead.

    Samsung UN40H6350AFXZA

The picture and refresh rate is really good on this TV. The sound is surprisingly good, not hollow at all. We did pick up a inexpensive sound bar for movies and music. We use netflix and amazon prime, the apps available work fine. We don't use it to surf the web, but you can. We hookup a laptop to one of the HDMI connections with a wireless mouse.

    Samsung... Best of the best

    |
    Posted .

I've now bought (6) TV's from Best Buy over the years, both CRT and LCD & varied makes. After my purchase of the Vizio 50" M series in November 2013, which has an incredible picture & lots of connection options. I was less than impressed with a confusing & time consuming set up, lack of a web browser, a poor responsive remote and sensor (having to almost stand directly in front of it to turn on or change any function). The user interface is slow, confusing and seems to drop out the wireless often. I was initially impressed with the price $599 and the functions of 3D (with 8 pair of glasses) and a 240hz system. When I decided to upgrade, I did my homework. Choosing Samsung H series TV's... The den (32' H5500) & bedroom (40" H6350). Because (1) the only set with a true web browser (2) An extremely easy setup, right out of the box with in 10mins... Done. The remote even programed itself to use my cable companies remote functions. (3) The much faster Quad core processor (included with the H series) (4) Intuitive and simple,,, But complete user interface. I would strongly recommend to anyone when considering their next TV purchased to choose a Samsung H series .

    Very Good Product

    Posted .

This is my first flat screen TV replacing a 32" picture tube TV set, 4x3 aspect ratio. So this was a significant upgrade to see wide screen presentations, 16x9 and HD clarity. The difference is night and day. The TV can also connect to the internet or play content from a media server, like home movies, on your home network. I'm connecting using Ethernet cable. It is a "mostly" smart TV. I connected the TV through my Denon AV receiver, using HDMI, so I can hear great sound along with HD clarity. The TV does have its own sound system and can also be used independent of the AV system. But the sound quality is OK but not great, like most TV's. Adjusting the on board equalizer in the sound settings helped a lot. So why is the TV "mostly" smart? My disappointment was the Clock and PIP, Picture in Picture function. First the clock had to be set manually, not very smart. You would think it would set itself and adjust date, a simple program. It is connected to the internet and yet it can't right now. Perhaps a software update will resolve this issue in the future. Second despite its many inputs PIP seems to only work with it's TV tuner. I'm watching TV using a Satellite box and It has it's own PIP function. But I wanted to connect a camera to watch my pouch. I had to use and old VCR to accomplish this. This setup gave me the option of hearing camera sound on the TV sound system and television sound on the AV system. Very cool. But a software update could make this function even better, remove my aging VCR and save power. I'm also able to use the TV as a second monitor for my desktop computer. Clarity is very good. Very cool. Overall it's a very good TV for the money and I'm pleased with the purchase.

    Our First Smart TV

    |
    Posted .

Our previous TVs were purchased before the advent of the "smart TV" and I was at first skeptical on how well this functionality would actually work. We are using the TV with CenturyLink broadband and an Apple AirPort Extreme and couldn't be happier with the performance of the TV for access to Internet based content. Television programming is via DirecTV and again the TV performs flawlessly. The supplied Samsung remote is backlit which is greatly appreciated and should be expected on all televisions in this day and age. This model was settled upon after much Internet research and I have to agree with all of the glowing reviews it has received when it comes to picture quality. Sound quality leaves a little to be desired like most flat screen televisions that lack forward firing speakers. I'm not sure why manufacturers neglect this aspect of the TV experience as I doubt most users of a TV this size (40 inch) or smaller end up using it with a sound bar or other sound system (we use ours with Bluetooth headsets while on the treadmill). The one thing that was slightly problematic with the installation was that the HDMI connections are parallel to the TV set and are somewhat close to the edge of TV. If your HDMI cables are not flexible it puts stress on the HDMI jack as you bend the cable to curve back toward the center of the television to keep the cable from being visible from the front. I understand why it is designed this way (as opposed to perpendicular jacks) so that the TV can be mounted close to a wall, but it would be preferable if the jacks were closer to the center of the television. I used 90 degree male/female HDMI adapters to better manage cable placement during my installation.

    Smart tv needs more instructions

    |
    Posted .

We need help with figuring out how to access the smart features of this tv. Instructions are sparse and internet not so easy to get on. Keeps telling me "no service" then picks it up, won't go to the website I'm aiming for, no way to change the home page, trying to maneuver the pages with only the remote scrolling around to punch one letter at a time is a drag, and I was trying to attach a computer keyboard or other Bluetooth device to help facilitate. Very frustrating. For just general tv watching, yeah it is great, but can do that with an appliance at half the price. I am going to have to get some special geek or techno buddy to come in and try to get us set up for Smart TV. Had to go on computer internet and google just how to turn off the annoying ping sound that accompanied every stroke of the remote, as it was not intuitively accessed through the "sounds" menu. Thanks to whomever posted that., Samsung please note!

Finally works (sort of) but a hassle

    |
    Posted .

We purchased this smart TV instead of a comparable regular TV and a separate device (like a Roku). If I had it to do over I would skip this as the "Smart TV" features ended up being a hassle. The first set we had (yes, we had to have it replaced) wouldn't run Netflix. Spent 8 hours troubleshooting with Samsung and Netflix only to be told it was all Verizon's fault. This was not helpful. We had the TV replaced, now Netflix works, but HBOGo will now not connect. I basically give up. But save $200 bucks on the TV part and get the Samsung 40" without the smart tv features, then spend $100 on a brand new Roku 3. Savings: $100 and lots and lots of time wasted.

Beautiful 40" TV in Picture & Sound

    |
    Posted .

Purchased a slightly smaller LCD TV for my Bedroom, purchased the set LED with Internet to connect with other Internet functions or use. The Color is great and the sound is also better than expected, just a all around good set. Cost was about $600.00, but came fully loaded with all options. We use with a HDMI Cable with a HD Dish Hooper Receiver, Great Package together, the remote on the Hopper is good, but so is the remote for the set, The Internet keeps the TV up to date, and allows us to use the internet without other desktop systems. I would highly recommend the set to anyone as a 2nd TV for a Bedroom or Office.

Very good TV but start-up user-unfriendly

    |
    Posted .

This is a very good TV once one gets it set up, but it's a bit of an ordeal to do so. The stand seems simple, but I had to strip the screw-head slots in order to get a secure and stable support for the TV. When I was unable to access Netflix after starting the TV, the Samsung remote technician had to reload all of the TV's apps over a period of two hours, and while doing so, he made some disparaging comments about Samsung software engineers. Dialing-in the picture settings took quite a bit of research and trial and error over a couple of weeks, but the picture quality is very good now. The sound at the "standard-Trudialog-TruSurround" settings is surprisingly good. This is my first smart TV, and I'm a bit disappointed at the limitations of the browser (can't stream videos through it other than one-minute news clips) and of the internet connection (need 10 mbps min. speed for wired connection, per TV manual, and the Wi-Fi antenna efficiency is rather low, per speed tests I ran with a laptop and TV app; a wireless repeater won't help in his case ). But with an 8.5 mbps speed @ the face of the TV, it now streams Netflix pretty well, although You Tube is not good at all. For use with a Blu-ray player and most TV (over-air) broadcasts, the TV is great; for online streaming, probably a 20 mbps service is needed for a similar quality. For $529, the TV is, overall, very good; if I had paid more, I would have been dissatisfied with the setup difficulties and the above limitations. I'd recommend this to a friend with these comments.

    great picture, very good sound

Love the picture quality. Purchased a sound bar to use with it, but it actually sounded better without it, so was able to return the sound bar. Wish it came with a manual - the on screen one is frustrating to use and I am unable to get it to synch with my computer on my network as advertised, even after downloading the Samsung program. Haven't used any of the onscreen apps except Youtube, which does not work well. Sort of sorry I spent the extra $ for the Smart features, don't think I will use them after all.

    Great LED TV Value

    |
    Posted .

When I went shopping, I wanted a smart TV, and intended to get a smaller 32" television, thinking it would be enough for my aging eyes. After rethinking things, I moved up to the 40-42" class, so that I could see it better. I looked at several brands and models, including VIZIO, Insignia, and Panasonic. I already have a Panasonic 42" plasma, and I absolutely love it. Looking at the Samsung TVs, I could see a clear difference in better quality with the Samsung over the other brands, except for Panasonic. Both were pretty close. I looked at the backlit model as well as this one, which is edge lit. I could only see a small difference between the two at the store, but it was there. Having used the TV for a bit, my only complaints are that I had a bit of difficulty with my cable box and the TV talking through the HDMI. I ended up upgrading the HDMI cable, and reseating it, and that seemed to solve the problem. The other complaint is that Samsung must have something proprietary going on in the software, because the mini-keyboard I purchased to use with it does not work yet. Other than those two things, I could not be happier with the quality and value I got for the price. The picture quality is fantastic. Navigating the menus and Smart Hub are easy. The WiFi is solid and has not dropped since connecting it. Netflix, Hulu, and VUDU work great using the built-in apps. My Roku LT and Fire TV stick work great with the TV as well. I already have hours of use in on the TV, and it simply just works, and works well. I had no trouble assembling the stand, and can tell it will be no problem to switch to a wall mount when I am ready. The extra ports compared to some other TVs are handy, enabling me to hook up everything that I would want to hook up. I highly recommend this TV if you are looking for a basic 2D Smart TV.

This is my first hi tech tv. it is wonderful. I do not have a Blu-ray player yet and the picture for regular dvd player is pretty great. I cant wait to get a Blu-ray and see the difference. I will need to buy a sound bar of some sorts. the sound is good, but with any flat screen the sound isn't very good. but that's okay, it does just fine for now. I will add on eventually, one thing at a time. I bought Samsung due to the high performance of the brand. and this tv lives up to those expectations. I would highly recommend this tv to anyone.

    High Quality and Stylish

    |
    Posted .

I have really enjoyed this television so far. As with any of the Samsung TV's they are very easy to set up and connecting to the network was hassle free. I am a big fan of the stand. It is so unique and stylish, it really makes the TV look more expensive than it is. Picture and sound are both excellent. If I had to find a complaint, at night the auto-brightness eco-sensor dims the TV a little too much for my liking and sometimes I have to turn it off.

I could have easily gone with a cheaper TV and gotten a larger screen but Samsung has never let me down when it comes to any product of theirs I have ever used. Everything about this TV is absolutely stunning. The downward firing speakers are very good and loud enough to fill the room. The picture is spectacular. I love the slim design with minimal bezel and the stand is sharp looking as well. I really, really enjoy my TV and for $625 it was a steal!

Beautiful picture, great sound, very pleased

We picked up this TV from our local best buy as an open box item for about $430 (always the way to go; we've done this for a fridge, iPad, dishwasher, and this TV and saved about $2000 doing so) and have been very pleased with it. The smart features are easy to navigate, the picture quality (color, crispness, brightness, blacks, motion smoothness) and viewing angles are excellent, as is sound quality. The size is just right for our bedroom and the swiveling feature is nice. My husband set everything up so I really cannot speak to the ease of setup, but he didn't mention any problems. I am a very critical/picky consumer who can almost always find something that could be improved on any given product (my husband would verify this!) and I really cannot think of anything else I would want in this TV. I would recommend this TV without reservations.

    Amazing Picture

    |
    Posted .

I love this TV!!! Yes, it cost $200.00 more than it's like counter parts, but the AMAIZING picture is worth every penny. I saved more in the long run because the sound is great for the size of the speakers the manufactures put in the flat screens. I bought a 46" V*z**, for the family room a year ago for $200.00 less (good picture) and the sound was so bad I bought a $399.00 sound bar so I could understand what the people were saying. I am sure I could have found a less expensive sound bar, if you want to look at a 4 foot 6" not attractive box next to my new TV that the only way to clean is with a vaccuum. You know the sound bars from "that 70s show". I fell into the less expensive TV last year, and it cost me more to have good sound, not this time and the picture is so much better. Did I say I love this TV!!!!!!
