Unfortunately, this TV is being re-shipped to me. When my son was installing it for me it was smashed on one side, which was odd, because the box it shipped in was completely perfect. I'm hoping for a better result next go around.

Awesome 40" TV

This is my 3rd Samsung Smart TV..This TV is easy to set up and has a perfect picture. Always buy a 6000 series and up when buying a Samsung TV,since it has dual processors and it connects to the WiFi with only your password. I have a 5000 series and never could hook it up to WiFi..Always says does not recognize and could never to this day .. I had a family member buy the 5000 series and had the same problem and called Samsung support and could not connect. He took that Samsung 5000 series back to the store and got the series 6000 and had no problem. This TV is great..Got it on sale and it is such a great TV. This TV has the square plastic stand I like. The 4K I looked at had legs that were 36.1" wide, which was too wide for the stand in the bedroom. You will not go wrong buying this TV!!

I was looking for a 40" HDTV with smart apps like Netflix and Amazon for less than $400, but was also concerned about the sound quality as the 32" I was replacing lacked good sound and was sometimes difficult to hear dialogue well. I know you can't expect theater quality sound out of these types of tv, but wanted something that would sound decent enough. I looked at some cheaper alternatives that had 7 or 8w speakers and 60hz refresh, but i hesitated and went with the Samsung hoping for better quality and i am very pleased with my choice. Picture is great and the sound quality was what i was looking- much better quality that makes the viewing experience pleasant. I had looked at some of the Roku tv's too, but the Samsung smart hub has been just as easy to work with watching Netflix, etc. This will by my second Samsung tv now and have been very pleased with both of them.

The TV suddenly died after just 24 months.. Seems Samsung has a major issue with this happening. I just bought a SONY to replace it . It was more $$ BUT much better quality ...

I recently purchased two TVs. One is a 55 UHD and this one in a 40 as a bedroom TV. Between the two of them, I actually prefer the picture on this model. By no means am I unhappy with the UHD picture, just that this one is that good, especially for the price. Smart TV is excellent, setup is easy. If you don't need more than two HDMI ports, this is a tough TV to beat.

Fantastic 1080p/120 LED TV

I bought this TV so I could give my older LG 1080p/60 to one of my children (yes, I get the better TV!). It was a breeze to get out of the box and assemble the stand, plug in my satellite receiver and Bluray player. The next step was getting online. Connection to my WiFi was simple. The only issue was when I launched Samsung's "Smart Hub" application. I wasn't prompted to login, but rather to create a new account. When I put my email address in I was told that there was already an account with that email address (from an old DVD player from way back when), Anyway, I went to their website and reset the password. Then I launched the "Smart Hub" application again and was NOT prompted to login this time (what's up with that?). Anyway, I was disappointed that there isn't a list of applications to download - you have to know what you want and search for it, then it will install if you tell it to. Great for Netflix, VUDU, YouTube, Crackle, TubiTV, but there were apps that I used to get on my Roku that aren't available (Smithsonian Channel, Nat Geo TV and some others). I know those channels required authenticating to my satellite provider on the Roku, but I don't know why those weren't an option here. In any case, I got the important ones installed. Now on to the GREAT part: the color and sound on this TV are absolutely fantastic! I don't need a soundbar because the built in speakers are great. The screen is awesome with crisp colors, dark blacks, and no blur whatsoever (I'm very happy I spent the extra $30 to get the newer model with the 120hz refresh - 60 is good, 120 is great). All in all, I can't recommend this enough! For the price and performance, it is a much better option than a more expensive 4K TV. And it is a real Smart TV, so you don't have to use a smartphone to do stuff (no "casting"!). And there is a fully functional remote control! What a concept! Finally, a center stand is a much better option than the wide feet other manufacturers use. Great job, Samsung!

I am, thus far, very pleased with this TV. The picture is great and all of the Smart functions were easy to set up and use. The delivery people were great and very efficient at attaching the stand and starting the TV.

unfortunately i had to bring my UN40J5200AFXZA back due to a defect in the bezel that was bleeding backlight out along the bottom edge of the screen.
the picture quality on this unit is absolutely outstanding, as is the sound quality on the built in speakers. i have a 48in vizio hanging in my living room that has very poor speakers and the picture quality is not nearly as good as this samsung.
can't forget to mention the outstanding service i got at my local best buy. well worth the time and effort.

Set this up on the wall with the rocketfish tilt mount. I used the picture setting 'natural'. The website rtings.com has the setting they used for calibration, and a great site for TV reviews. This TV they rated one of the best for the price.
Just remember to hook up the wires you will be using before hanging on the wall. Sound is awful, as is on most of the TV's, so I bought a Samsung soundbar and subwoofer package.
