This tv has a great picture for the price, but the quality control must be atrocious. I’ve gotten two in a row with dead pixels in the same place. This is a huge bummer that has cost me 3+ hours in returns along with huge frustration. Come on, Samsung!

Its an ok tv but not good in dark rooms as black uniformity is very noticeable and annoying during dark scenes or when the screen goes dark. Never had a tv with this problem before and apparently its normal so i just spent a few more bucks on an OLED

I watch a lot of dark movies, so I was somewhat dismayed to see lighter colored areas in the black screen. This may just be a damaged screen, a Samsung rep suggested a technician would be able to fix it. But the screen itself (which is quite thin) seems extremely sensitive to pressure that effects the brightness, so I’m inclined to return for a different model.

I purchased this model in the store after loving the picture quality. After getting the TV home and set up, I noticed a small backwards D with a line above it in the upper left hand corner. Returned it to BESTbuy, received a replacement. SAME ISSUE. Called Samsung, they can offer no assistance with why this is showing up. I think I am over this one. Returning the second one as well. If you have this model check for this issue. Can't be seen from a distance

Hi Caligrlntex,
Thank you for choosing the Samsung 43” AU8000 and sharing your experience. Please check that you have removed the protective film covering the TV screen. It is possible that the 'D' image you are reporting is imprinted on the protective film.
Please be aware that not all TVs come with a protective film. If there is a protective film on your screen, it will be indicated with a blue tab in the upper left corner. The tab will have an illustration showing how to remove the protective film. If you do not have a blue tab in the upper left corner, then that means there is no protective film on the screen, so please do not try to peel off anything. You will damage what is actually the screen.
If you tried removing the film and only removed the blue tab, then please affix a piece of adhesive tape to where the blue tab was and try removing the film again.
If you have checked that there is no protective film and are still seeing the 'D' pattern on the screen, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG so we can further assist you.

I loved this tv, until I seen black lines running thru the screen, gradually has gotten worse and end up returning it and purchased the same one hoping it was just a fluke, was a lil disappointment when I returned and seen another return for the same issue. I am gonna keep my eye on this one because I don’t wanna get stuck with this and have to go to manufacture for repairs in future. My return was handled great and I am really hoping Samsung will not disappoint in the future because we are due for a new 82 inch in the future

Picture good, I/O good, audio good (but have to run at high level in a 250 sq ft room), user interface great. Remote OK but unnecessarily small. The Volume and Channel tab-like buttons are tricky to use because you have to time them to get other functions (go back to 6 button design). The menu's "Donut" control is difficult to feel and use instinctively (go back to 5 button design). Concerned the remote will wear out faster because of the accidentally wrong button pushes. Really like the user interface, especially when I found some of the "hidden" features. For me this beat out Samsung 5, Insignia F30, and Vizio V.

We've had this a couple years now and it's been great. Good color and the interface is easy to use. Like most TVs today, the sound quality is abysmal, so you'll need a sound bar or way to hook it to whatever sound system you're using.

This review is for the Samsung 43” AU8000 series TV. I purchased this TV to replace a 13YO Samsung 1st generation LED TV that I wanted to relocate to a new but lesser used location.
Set-up was a breeze. The provided documentation is skimpy, but my only confusion was that “audio out” is now the HDMI port labeled eARC. (Dating myself.) The picture quality is excellent. I’ve made no changes to the default settings, nor do I anticipate doing so. Can I tell you it’s better than my old set? Not really. I didn’t put them side by side. They’re both great.
I can tell you that the cost value is phenomenal. The new set is slightly bigger than my old one, yet it was 1/3 the cost of my 13YO set.
If you read other sites, there are three common complaints about this TV. Two of those have to do with the internet interface and the remote control. Neither of those concern me, nor can I address them, as I use a Firestick and its own remote control.
The other complaint, which is valid, and for which I docked one star, is the audio quality. It’s not good, and not close to my old set. Then again, the new set is thinner and lighter. The whole TV weighs about the same as a good sub-woofer. It’s not really reasonable to expect dynamite sound, but it’s weak enough to deduct one star. This particular unit is in my bedroom on a wall, and I don’t use it to stream music. The sound is good enough for that. Maybe being wall mounted helps. I also bought a larger one which I placed in my living room away from the walls, and on which I do stream music. In that application and location, the sound deficiencies are quite definite. So plan on buying a sound bar or attaching some other external speaker system. Did I mention the TV is 1/3 the cost of my old one? It’s a no brainer.

Really nice TV for the money. It has a great picture, decent sound for a flat screen. It is very easy to hook to foreign apps and devices. Bottom line, very satisfied with this purchase.
The only issue I have is that Samsung has removed the direct tune digits from the remote. You have to select digits on the screen to direct tune a channel.Ofcourse NBD to those that don’t watch non-cable TV.

Setup.
Remarkably easy. The Tizen interface slays the Android one. Connected to wifi, and all my services and subscriptions fast! My Sony and Hisense not even close as easy. Also a 3rd party wifi remote from my tablet flies this TV perfectly. Android Samsung tablet by the way. Intelligent inputs right down to optical. I send the audio via optical out to my processor, an Anthem AVM-30. An old one that sounds great. This is my bedroom setup by the way.
Navigation and use.
Faster and easier than both my Sony and Hisense TVs. The Hisense would lock up when asked certain things, my Sony better and the interface more polished, but the Samsung is best still. Fast and responsive as I scroll through the apps, and pulling them up is easy, Amazon Prime, YouTube and Netflix are my Primaries.
Remote is an after thought and while Okay, it lacks the direct control my other TVs have. But just download the Samsung remote application from the play store and you will be happier. Plus your phone or tablet is backlit. The remote is not. Don't bother with the TV direct controls. Like most TVs, poorly located and a total bother and no fun to use.
Sight and sound.
Sound is easy. Optical out and no TV speaker listening. It will sound thin and incomplete if you do. Get a sound bar at least.
Sight.
I enjoy the image the AU8000 has. Turned down the brightness and contrast as I found mine full on out of the box. Colors look fine to me and vibrant. Decent detail, dynamic range is where I would agree with some. Not quite HDR, no Dolby Vision support. I didn't really care as this for my computer monitor use and enjoyment in my bedroom. Successfully upscales nicely 4K just great. Though I think my Hisense was better than it here. Not enough to bother me but was a bit better. This is a fair priced TV for the extra room or casual viewing and some computer use. As a main viewer in the dark it is great. The contrast ratio is very good. In a well lit room not so much but not awful. My Hisense was a better here. So a competent quality image, just not reference quality, but this is a bargain TV, so compromise is here. But as long as your expectations are right, you could be very happy here. Look at the Sony X80J if money will permit. The LG 7000 is strong too. The AU8000 has allot going for it, but competition is stiff and considering this TV is in the bargain sweet spot. It does well. But other TVs will be better.
Final thoughts.
The Hisense gets much love for the value it gives. I almost agree, but with only having it work for a year and a half, is too short. I really loved that TV. I had worked with Samsung and Sony alot and I wanted to give this AU8000 a shot. Value is great, use is great too. Picture is competitive if just a slight bit behind the LG, and Sony. But a few things in the Samsung fit my use case better than the Sony and LG. So far I am pleased with the AU8000. Will stand the test of time and my use? I hope so, it really is an enjoyable TV to use and view.

Picture quality is outstanding especially if you create your own visual settings. As with most TV's the manufacturers default setting create a picture that is way too over saturated with too much contrast compared to real life imagery. I had to rate it 4 stars because the built in sound quality is abhorrent and I had to purchase a sound bar because it only has HDMI/arc, optical, or Bluetooth audio outputs, no 3.5mm or RCA outputs to connect to my existing audio infrastructure. The sound bar does not have treble or bass adjustments and the TV does not provide that feature within the audio settings for that Bluetooth device so I am stuck without audio adjustments until I purchase something else. The smart TV features are nice and full featured, almost can be used as a replacement for a tablet. The remote volume and change channel buttons and not intuitive, instead of pushing down they are rocker bars that will probably fail earlier than push buttons. Remote is also rather slender in width that might be problematic for some people. Overall rather pleased with this product.

I was first hesitate when I purchased it cause we needed a tv to replace our older Samsung tv that blew out. This Samsung tv has exceeded our expectations and we are so happy we had bought it. It surpasses our previous tv as well as other tv’s we have our house. The quality of the picture is amazing as well as the audio was not disappointed at all. So many features are built in and easy to access, especially in today’s streaming world. We are thrilled to have stuck with Samsung and excited for future products. This tv is a must have!!
