    Annoying H-169 Pop-up Bug

Tried to remain cautiously optimistic about this product but being of Irish descent and believing in Mr. Murphy's Law I figured something would go wrong and I hate being right but I was right. Apparently the TV autosyncs to a soundbar device even if you don't have one and a VERY annoying little pop-up, well, pops-up about every 15 seconds or so asking if you want to play the unit's sound through the device - which of course I can't and don't want to. Waited for some time to pass to see if I could rectify this, believing that something was bound to pop-up (see what I did there?) and it does. Very annoying. Had I known, I would never have bought the unit - which of course cannot be returned. So a word of caution to others.

Works but Google Assistant is broken

TV generally works but it is not syncing with Google Assistant/Home. I've been on chat with Samsung support for 2 hrs and they have made zero progress on troubleshooting. I also was on with Google Support for 30 min who confirmed the problem was on the Samsung side, specifically with their SmartThings app integration. Google assistant/Home recognizes that the TV is connected to the home network but the TV is "not responding". It looks to be an authentication issue with the SmarThings (Samsung) app but no one at Samsung knows how to troubleshoot.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues using your Google Assistant/Home via the SmartThings app. If your TV status is stuck in a particular state or does not respond to an action in your SmartThings app, you might want to try the following steps:

      1) Please make sure both devices are connected to the same local network. The phone and TV must be connected to the same network as your router to be discovered by the app.

      2) Refresh the device using the SmartThings app. From the Devices tab, swipe down to refresh the device list, or delete and re-add the device on the SmartThings app.

3)Open the Google Home app on your phone. If you do not have the app on your phone, you can search for Google Home in the Google Play Store and download the app.

      4) Select the Add button. On the next screen select Set Up Device.

      5) Press on the text under the title Works with Google. Here you will see a list of accounts. Scroll down until you see SmartThings and select it or search SmartThings by pressing the search icon in the top right-hand corner.

      6) Once you have selected SmartThings, press the “Sign in with Samsung Account”’ and use the same Samsung Account which you used to sign in on the SmartThings app on your mobile.

      7) The TV will be added automatically.

I hope this helps. For further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support.

I bought this specifically for the built in Google Assistant. It's not actually a built in voice assistant option. The only ones available are Alexa and Bixby. Everything I looked at on the website and Best Buy app says it has Google Assistant built in. It's not. I had to setup a "works with" option through my home app on my phone and then still choose Bixby or Alexa on my actually tv to function with the Google Home phone app. Not ok. Will likely be returning this tv for one that has Google Assistant actually built in.

The tv's were delivered to our apartment on 5/27. The technicians in our retirement community tried numerous times and on numerous occasions to get the tv's to work. Finally on 6/18 a Comcast technician tried to get them to work. We even had him talk with someone from Samsung to try to set them up. The Comcast technician has worked for Comcast for 17 years and had never seen this problem. The earliest a Samsung technician can look at the tv's is June 29th. That is over a month with two brand new tv's that do not work. When we called Best Buy we got no satisfaction about replacing defective tv's.

This 4k TV only gets 20Mbps down over WiFi on our gigabit speed fios using a Nighthawk router. Images show tests were no better on wired connection. Other devices get above 300Mbps up and down. Tons of bloatware you can no longer remove from home or delete. The Samsung Q50 did the same thing and we brought it back thinking it was defective. Internet research seems to have no answers.

Seriously what the heck happened to the brand?!? These TVs are horrible. I bought a TU8000 and it was so dark and colors were super dull, returned it and got this qled because I was told that the 8000 was their entry tv... the qled was their mid level tv... again dark colors are not vibrant and image is comparable to my 1080 tv... and the worse part is that this tv keeps losing WiFi signal, and it’s a pain to get it back on... tv is going back and will forget about Samsung TVs...

Hi ChuyJay, I'm sorry to hear you had an unfortunate experience. Generally the TV's have the eco sensor on by default which will dim the brightness and color according to the ambient brightness in the room. Should you give us a chance going forward please turn it off and you will see all the vividness you have come to expect from the Samsung brand!

I only had this tv for 2 years and it won’t connect to the wifi or find any network already. This was 520$, for that price I expected long lasting quality. Definitely a no. Now I have to spend more money trying to fix it. My older TVs have never had this issue.

Samsung in my opinion has always made the best TVs. There color and picture is not like any other brand with vivid crisp picture quality. This Smart TV is just another example of why they are the best with now built in wifi capability that offers apps and now I don’t even have to use a separate Apple TV because it is an app already loaded as well as many others including my TV provider to watch play blacks of my favorite shows. It also is easy to setup and integrates well with hdmi devices. If you have any gaming console I personally have a PS4 it’s picture will take your gaming experience to a whole new level. I hope who read this you find this helpful! I would not by any other tv than a Samsung especially now since they have been integrated with the type of smart technology this and other models offer.

    Amazing TV!

I wasn't sure how this TV would be, since I wasn't able to look at any before ordering, due to the COVID 19 lockdowns. However, I ended up very pleasantly surprised! This is a great TV, with amazing image quality. Pros: -Amazing screen with vivid colors and crystal clear picture -Speakers - I was super surprised at how good the speakers are! -Connectivity - So easy to get connected, and can connect to so many devices! -Bluetooth for keyboard and mouse, or speakers, etc. -So many options! Gaming mode (automatically changes to this when senses computer/console hooked up), All the premium apps, with an app store for more, music apps so you can use the TV as a stereo, different lighting modes for movies, gaming, etc -Bixby. Many would list this as a con. However, being able to push a button on the remote and speak instead of using the onscreen keyboard makes a world of difference. Is Bixby buggy, yes. But, in this case, it really makes it easier. Cons: -It is expensive for the size. However, I feel it's worth every penny. Definitely worth the extra money. -Setup is sort of cumbersome, and changing settings can be a challenge to find where they are. There is a built in manual though. -Quirky Smart TV. Sometimes it won't download a new app, or will freeze on one channel. So far, unplugging and plugging it back in has worked. -Home screen/menu needs a bit of work. Can be difficult to navigate and get to what you want to see. You can always use search, but shouldn't have to go to that every time just to open Disney+ or something like that. However, there is a dedicated button on the remote for Netflix. To sum up, this is a fantastic TV, and I think worth every dime. Yes, it can be a challenge for some to setup and navigate, but it is worth it when you get there. The picture and sound quality alone make this TV worth it. But, all the added bells and whistles just seal the deal. When we have to replace any of the other TVs, it will probably be another one of these.

Nice picture but gets very washed out in bright light. It’s easy to navigate the settings and toggle between different programs. And there are so many free additional viewing options preloaded in the tv. Television picture is best viewed directly in front. Picture gets faded from side angles.

Great Picture and Very Happy! Have small room and TV goes in the corner. Have increased sizes from 37 to 40 and now 43. Very easy set up and automatic sync to charter cable box. Streaming features are great. At first, remote was odd to use but better understand it now. If you like older remotes, with numbers, colors, etc. won't like this one. This is my 6th Samsung TV over the last 25 years and get and just amazed how picture quality improves so much at lower price than before. Purchased stand on web vs using supplied feet for small table. Looks great.

I love this TV when it comes to picture quality and color depth, it's a huge upgrade over my three year old Vizeo. The reason I won't give it five starts is because it's a very fussy TV with a ridiculously bloated interface. The amount of button presses it takes to perform simple tasks is hampered by all of the forced apps and advertisements it throws into its "Smart" interface. The remote doesn't have an input changing button because I assume they want you to go through more advertisements on the home screen to do simple tasks, or install a phone app. What's even worse is that the large remote is covered in buttons for the most useless functions. As much as I love Smart TVs I think the interface mess they create is just getting worse as time goes by. Cut down on the apps and all the overly complex and slow to navigate menus and you'd have a perfect TV, but that doesn't make Samsung as much money so expect these things to get even worse in the future.

Its the most ive ever spent on a tv but its by a brand i trust. Their 7 series 4k television failed me miserably but I was willing to give them another chance since their 1080p hds have never let me down. Man was the extra couple hundred worth it on this tv dude. Playing games on even the lowest resolution of games enhances the color pallet tenfold, meanwhile playing newer hdr enhanced games like BF5 lets you see all of the smallest details in the game which is so immersive when combined with a good soundbar (minus all of battlefield's numerous bugs). Hopefully I'll have this tv for years to come and im excited to see what it can do for the upcoming generation of consoles. Its equally inspired me to search for a Dolby Atmos system just so I'll be ready for the full experience once the Series X releases. If you're considering this tv and are unsure if qled is the real deal, believe me when I say ive bought and owned and scrutinized 10 or so tvs from various brands and while this isnt any oled lg, it also isn't a thousand bucks being stripped from your wallet and the picture is arguably just. as. good!
