When I first got this TV, the lack of edges was one of the biggest contrasts with my old 1080i 49" class with 1.5" bezels on each side. As such, the screen was slightly larger -- but the whole TV was thinner and lighter than the one before. Though easy to mount, it was also stylish and aesthetic on its own legs.
Due to the curved and textured back however, my LED light strip couldn't stay adhered. All in all, I'm glad I let the sales person talk me into buying this one over the 2017 samsung tv I was looking at.
As an aside, it works very well with my samsung devices! Wireless integration is smooth with my phone and tablet, as well as airplay from my macbook. The smart hub works well, and the extra features in the settings provide a lot to customize.
If you're looking at this TV now in 2021, I'd guess that it's unlikely that you'll find a better value without buying a brand new oh-my-god 8k tv or something: I researched heavily and went to a few stores before going in to make a purchase. I knew this TV was the bang-for-buck product in my "treat yourself" price range, but the salesman found several ways to help me reduce the price, including the rewards points of buying two computers the year prior. By that point, it was a small enough price difference that I went for it.
I've enjoyed 4k gaming and streaming without much hassle; I've used it with school/work projects because I can view so much more at once (I compose music, and this is invaluable when writing for orchestra, as I can zoom out further and still see details well)
Samsung Dex, Apple Airplay, PS4, and HDR movies/shows? This TV has been great.

I do not really write reviews on TVs very often, but this case is interesting to me. I picked this 49" TV when it dropped down to about $800.
When I first got the TV, I was absolutely amazed by the vibrant colors, and deep blacks for an edge lit TV. The picture was so great, that I thought I would never be dissatisfied.
Further, gaming response was lightning quick - virtually no latency. However, the 49" is only a 60hz panel, so even though it has some interpolation tricks that smooth motion out, it feels more sluggish compared to what I have seen on 120hz panels.
Sadly, the problem with having an edge lit TV started to really rear it's ugly head over the course of a few months. The blooming on this panel when watching a dark scene is GLARING, especially considering how well it performs in terms of color and brightness.
You could conceivably have a moon that lights up the entire screen when the rest of the picture is supposed to be pitch black. This can affect the black bars when watching movies, and definitely is noticeable with subtitles. It is bad.
So bad, that it actually begins to highlight why you should consider going a step up from the Q6 - this TV gives you a taste of what a premium TV experience is all about, but falls woefully short in it's backlighting and local dimming that you really lament not saving up for a Q8.
In fact, when you compare the overall picture quality to a Q8 or Q9, you also begin to realize that the Q6, despite its solid color reproduction, just isn't as vivid, colorful or bright. You really begin to notice that, despite the QLED name, this is VERY MUCH a mid range TV.
At that point, you would be better served going toward a Vizio or Sony that has full array backlighting with local dimming - sure the colors may not be quite as great, and the latency a little worse, but the overall picture quality would end up being simply better.
Better yet, though, you would do yourself a huge favor and save up for the Q8. I never wanted to get a premium TV before until I had this TV - a TV like this shows you what premium can be all about, but unfortunately it will never fully deliver a satisfactory experience due to its crucial limitations.

My dad's 12 year old TV died so he wanted a new 4K TV from either Sony or Samsung. This model happened to be on sale for $700 at the time and he bought it. He loves the picture quality and was blown away by the remote's voice features and apps. I own a Sony x900e from 2017 and I was even a bit jealous of the smart features on this one. Picture quality between this and my Sony x900e was almost indistinguishable to me. Make sure to check out the 4K videos on Youtube to show off the picture!

So far I've tried my ps4 pro and pc both with 4k hdr and it looks amazing. I've only used amazon prime for 4k content but it looks great on the tv. My old tv mount was comparable with this tv. The menus are light speed ahead of my old samsung tv and I have had no problems so far.

We are in love with this TV. It's so light, the colors are vibrant to give an extra layer of wow to our brighter video games. The sound is surprisingly loud as well, so we did not need a sound bar.
There is also a voice command option built into the remote, but it only works with some of the apps. The system is incredibly smart too, recognizing popular products by name when you plug them in.
For people who just want to use the TV for ambiance, while cleaning, reading, or hosting a small gathering, you can opt for stylized backgrounds displaying the time or soothing sounds and imagery.
The only fault? Some menu navigation via the remote is frustrating, but that may be more user error than we like to admit. It hasn't done more than waste a few seconds of time.

Very satisfied with this TV. It's my first Smart 4K TV. Colors are great, black is nice and dark like it should be, sound is good although I mainly use surround sound, and not the TV speakers, when using my TV.
I love being able to download and watch different streaming services on the TV. Samsung also has their own long list of TV channels that are FREE! Some channels aren't for me but I do enjoy a bunch of their channels.
Sometimes I wish the refresh rate for this TV were higher than 60 htz because if something moves fast enough, you can a slight shadowing affect. That's the only reason why I give this TV a 4 out of 5.

I give this Sammy 5 stars because of the beautiful, clear almost 3 dimensional picture. The colors are bright, images sharp edged.
The sound is good but I use a surround sound set-up so it doesn't
matter anyway. 49" is a good size for the bedroom, my room is
12'x15' and my viewing distance is about 10'. Wish I would have gotten a 60".

We originally purchased this TV for outside, but while waiting for house to be completed we are using in a really bright room with lots of westerly sun. It is really good for bright room. We can actually see the picture. I expect that when we use it outside it will be as good. We tried a regular LED and we couldn’t hardly see the picture. If your looking for a tv for a bright room, I would consider this tv.

This review will be a hard for me to write. I love Samsung TVs, i can stand in line pretty much anywhere that sells TVs and pick out the Samsungs from the picture quality. However this TV...
two weeks after buying this the TV would no longer turn on, worked with Samsung's telephone support team, they were going to send a repair guy out to service the unit. Best Buy however said to bring it back and they'll replace it for me, and they were great.
Get the new TV home set up everything is working great, a week later ran into an issue where the wi-fi failed due to an IMEI error, I simply plugged a network cable into the back of the TV, as I was not in the mood to bring the TV back an exchange it again. Everything was working great again...
a few months later pressing the home button on the smart remote was no longer bringing up the home screen (which is used for pretty much everything on the tv). Did some online research and this seems to be a common issue. The "Smart Hub" has a tendency to crash, all that was required to fix the issue is use the voice setting to do a factory reset of the Smart Hub, this of course resets all your factory setting and you need to go through the initial set up procedure again. Since this happened, there have been software updates on the TV and I haven't had this issue come up again.
Outside of those issues, I do love the picture quality, the TV is pretty use to use, set up, add things like blu-ray players, video game systems and such. if you are debating between a regular 4k tv or one with QLED I would go with QLED the colors just pop and the blacks are nice deep black with no noticeable light spill over.

I’m a Sony guy but the Q series are nice TVs. Bright picture. Great color. A little More vibrant than a Sony which are more known for realistic and natural pictures. If you want colors that pop and don’t mind a little over saturation it’s a great TV. Wish it came with the one connect like last years model. But I guess due to mixed feelings Samsung have consumers options. If you like the one connect you’ll have to either purchase a Q7 or Q9. The TV pairs well with Xbox and can even turn the console on. One remote is simple and set up is easy.

The natural 4K resolution can be a bag of hit or miss. Right out of the box, it is shown in eye popping fashion with the tv’s built in “free tv channels” provided by the internet & Samsung’s newly updated Tizen engine until you decide to use the PS4 for gaming or Netflix, constant toying with the Game Mode or customized picture settings can be a nuisance. Don’t forget the 4K resolution really shows up through the proper hdmi cord made for 4K, not the regular old hdmi cords! It powers on super fast and is very bright in daylight settings which is a plus. I intend to buy a soundbar one day to enhance the tv’s decent volume. Solid 4K tv bought during Black Friday sale!

Had this TV for a couple weeks now and we are really enjoying the great picture quality and features of this TV. The picture is very crisp and the colors just pop on the Dynamic setting. Has all the most popular apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and all stream very well. The auto detect of any device connected by HDMI is nice and the TV remote will work with them all. Great Buy!

This Samsung is replacing a 2013 model that started having display problems, looping restarts, and shut off after loud sharp sound effects from tv shows...weird behaviors that I attribute to a failing motherboard? I was thinking of getting another brand, but I bought this TV because it was the thinnest available at this size. Oddly, TVs became thicker since 2013, sad. Anyway, this new Samsung is a very beautiful model. I appreciate that the new remote is minimal, also is paired with a google home/samsung smart things. So I can turn it on and off with my voice from across a room. Apps like hulu are not laggy. So my Apple TV and Roku are a bit redundant now. Source switching is a bit smarter since 2013. Samsung still has bloatware that gets in the way of a user who has "cut the cord", they offer up uninspired content that I do not want to watch. I was bummed that it had NO headphone jack for a small soundbar that I used to use with the previous model, however I find the speakers to be louder than the older tv.

I just returned the LG I had recently purchased as a replacement for my older Samsung that got toasted by lightening. I couldn't get a clear or bright picture on the new LG, without getting the soap opera effect. (And, Yes, I tried everything the technicians suggested.) After returning the LG, I decided to go back to a Samsung and try their new QLED technology. I couldn't be happier! This is, hands down, the best quality picture I have ever had!! (And the Best Buy associates made my return and exchange as easy as it could be!)

Bought TV on Black Friday Special. Outstanding 4k picture for the money. Smart TV is easy to hook-up to the internet and has many apps available to enhance your TV viewing experience. Every once in a while the remote does not stay paired up with the TV but it is easy to sink them back together.

I went from a 32 inch to 49 in my bedroom. I love size. Prior to getting TV set up, I thought I wouldn't like the stand, but it doesn't look as cheap as I thought. The picture was ok, but once I changed to HDMI cable, picture improved a lot. I got it $200 off, so that made it an awesome deal.

The TV is very light, so it's easy to put on the wall mount by yourself. The picture is very good compared to the 1080P TV I replaced. The TV really shines when you play games on it, I use an XBox One and you could really see the difference. The only complaint is that in certain picture conditions, it would've been nice to have the 240 refresh (Motion) rate.

I bought the 49" model and i must say it looks amazing. I also have the NU8000 and i would say the Q6 is just a little better with colors and clarity. But this is only noticeable when they are side by side, but its a great TV overall
