    Picture quality takes a quantum leap

    The Samsung Q6FN offers high end design and picture quality at a reasonable cost. DESIGN: The slim brushed metal bezel and crows feet stand are close in design to Samsung’s own Q8FN. The Q6 lacks the Ultra black elite filter found on the Q7,Q8 and Q9. The semi-gloss screen on offer helps minimize reflection and improve perceived contrast. SET UP: Once out of the box set up is a tool free low stress affair. Simply snap the two legs into their positions found on the bottom of display and your done. PICTURE: Samsung employs a VA based panel which offers excellent static contrast of around 6000:1, so black level performance is impressive. Samsung offers local dimming of the edge-lit variety with a limited amount of zones, so you may experience a little blooming/haloing around bright objects against a dark back ground. If you have a litte ambient light in your viewing area this shouldn’t be noticeable. For those that like to turn the lights off a gentle bias light behind the display would help alleviate the issue as well as minimize eye strain. The star of the show as far as picture quality goes is Samsung’s Quantum dot technology. Which uses a thin metal coating over their LED backlight to offer a broader spectrum of colors. Pair this with the peak brightness in HDR of 800+ nits and you get a saturated image with highlights that pop. Whether you’re watching UHD video or gaming on your PS4 Pro/Xbox one X you’ll be impressed with the image on hand. SOUND: Good sound quality isn’t often associated with built in speakers, but I was impressed with the audio quality of the TV. The 40w speaker set up offers two down firing speakers and a woofer for better than average sound. Will this replace a dedicated surround sound system or sound bar... no, but it is a good solution until or if you decide to upgrade. GAMING: Swinging through the sun drenched city of New York as Spider-man or the Jungles of Shadow of the Tomb raider as Lara Croft I was never disappointed. While the 60hz 49” variant lacks the Freesync/Variable refresh rate found on the native 120hz 55” and above sizes, the motion is still very good on this display. I have noticed no smearing/trailing in motion or unnatural motion blur. Input lag is also where Samsung excels offering around 13-15ms response time. This makes for a hitch free gaming experience whether your playing 3rd person adventure games or going head to head online. SMART TV: Samsung's Tizen platform now offers Bixby. Bixby is similar to Google voice assistant which offers faster and smarter navigation. The small simple remote included with the TV has a mic equipped for helping with voice navigation. This is the area that I have spent the least amount of time with since I do little outside of gaming. One of the complaints I have heard about their smart platform is non-defeatable Ads, so if you plan on the Q6 being your all in one streaming machine keep this mind. I am truly impressed by the price to performance offered by the Q6. Is it perfect? No, but you’re not likely to find a perfect display with any brand. The TV just has to be perfect for you. I have been impressed with and at times blown away by performance of the Q6 out of the box and would easily recommend to gamers or videophiles.

    I purchased this tv due to the recommendation of store employee and because the demo had such vivid colors . However being I've never owned a smart tv and dont know much about them or how they work this was not a purchase that I should have made. Directions were not clear at all finally stumbled my way to figuring out how to watch my regular cable, the vivid colors I liked so much at the store is not the case at my home. Honestly debates taking it back just because it is so intimadating and there isn't much help on getting it set up

      The TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer the signal is to 4K, the better it will look coming out. It is also designed with lots of custom settings, allowing users to adjust images to their liking.
      Our typical store mode is showing the “dynamic” picture mode which is very bright.
      We recommend Standard mode at home environment for the everyday viewing experience.

      In addition to the display screen, the quality of the image on your screen also depends on the source and the connection.
      HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing; and when possible, 4k Content will provide the best picture quality.
      The quality of the streaming content depends largely on the speed of your internet, as most content providers have adaptive streaming that would automatically adjust the image quality based on the network bandwidth.

    Bought both the 49in Q6 and 65in 8000 series. Q6 was no better than the 8000. So I couldnt justify the additional cost. Returned the Q6. Bought the 49in 8000.

    The resolution and motion didn't seem up to par with the new 900 series Sony. Also the plastic inside the tv would start to crackle when heated up.

      Our products leave the factory after passing numerous rigorous quality checks. Nonetheless, a TV is a very fragile device and damage could have been incurred during shipping and handling, or from external impact.

    The internet connection is slow and gets dropped a lot. I moved my router closer to the TV and didn't help much. When you press the channel view button it takes a long time to download what is on the channels. I wish I would of got another 50" LED instead.

    2.5 years and the sound is a mess. Keeps switching from hdmi to soundbar. Get another brand. QLED has a reputation for most service calls and will probably cost $400-$500 for a new board.

    I have had this TV right at 6 months. It now gives sound but no picture. Best Buy was not much help with getting the warranty done and Samsung has been hard to deal with as well
