The Samsung 49" Odyssey G9 G91F is not just a monitor, it's a gateway to immersive gaming. Its unique features, such as the 1000R curved display and Dual QHD resolution, stand out as a high-performance design that is a game-changer for any gamer or professional seeking an unparalleled visual experience.  The G91F features a 49-inch ultra-wide 32:9 screen with a Dual QHD resolution (5120x1440), equivalent to two 27-inch 1440p monitors side by side. The 1000R natural curve enhances immersion by wrapping the display around your field of vision, making you feel like you're in the game. The ergonomics includes an adjustable stand that supports height, tilt, and swivel adjustments, allowing users to find a comfortable viewing position. The base and neck of the stand are made of strong metal. The metal neck has a simple rubber strap for cable management. The monitor's build quality is robust, focusing on gaming aesthetics. There is even enough room for a webcam setup at the base of the stand. Users must ensure they have ample desk space because of the monitor's large footprint. The monitor offers a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1ms (GtG) response time.   I played the racing game "Gran Turismo". The feeling of immersion is undeniable. I felt like I was in the cockpit of a race car. The 1000R curve and Dual QHD resolution help create a panoramic view, which is perfect for many simulation games.  The Samsung G91F monitor supports VESA DisplayHDR 600, providing deeper blacks and brighter whites compared to standard displays. While not as advanced as DisplayHDR 1000,  it still offers solid contrast and vibrant colors, with precise details in dark scenes. The ultra-wide screen supports Picture-by-Picture (PBP) and Picture-in-Picture (PiP) modes, allowing users to split the display for simultaneous gaming, streaming, or productivity tasks. This versatility empowers users to be productive and entertained simultaneously. It's important to note that there are no speakers with this monitor, and that the five-way buttons used to set your monitor to your liking are at the bottom of the monitor. Samsung should include a software feature that allows you to control the various settings of the monitor using your keyboard or mouse. An Auto Source Switch feature automatically detects and switches to new input sources when devices are powered on, streamlining connectivity without manual input selection. For instance, I was playing The Witcher 3 on my PC.  I switched to another console, and the monitor automatically detected the console's signal and switched to the new source, which saved me time and the hassle of manually changing the input.  Users  have several connectivity options, which include two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort, and USB ports, offering robust connectivity for PCs, consoles, and peripherals. However, it lacks USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode, which may limit compatibility with some modern devices like certain MacBooks.  The G91F delivers an immersive gaming experience, especially for titles supporting the 32:9 aspect ratio or open-world games. However, some games and consoles (e.g., PS5, Xbox Series X/S) don't fully support the 32:9 aspect ratio, resulting in black bars on the sides, which can reduce immersion.  The G91F is not just about gaming; users can use the monitor for multitasking work-related projects like video editing or financials like QuicBooks. Its ultra-wide screen is ideal for multiple windows to be open side by side.   Plus, there is minimal or zero head movement when viewing the screen from the middle. The monitor is a comfortable and efficient tool for and and play.   It's important to note some of the drawbacks to this monitor. The G91F uses a standard panel that doesn't match OLED's color accuracy, contrast, or response time (0.03ms vs. 1ms). This makes it less premium compared to higher-end models. I experienced compatibility issues with my PS5 due to the lack of 4K @ 120Hz support and an ultrawide screen. Black bars appear in unsupported games, reducing the monitor's effectiveness. Further, the monitor's large size demands significant desk space, and its 144Hz Dual QHD output requires a powerful GPU to maximize performance, which may not suit some budget setups.  I tested the monitor's brightness by playing a game in a bright, sunlit room. After making sevreal adjustments to monitor settings, the picture on the monitor was a little tricky to see.   I suggest that console gamers or those in bright environments consider alternatives with OLED or higher HDR ratings. Overall, the Samsung G91F has above average color quality. It offers an immersive gaming experience and ease of setup for multitasking. It is ideal for PC gamers with high-end setups and professionals needing a dual-monitor replacement. It's a great option for those who can fully utilize its other amazing features.

This monitor is easy to assemble and pretty solid. I wish the stand would go a few inches higher and sit back a bit more. Its vesa compliant using 100 x 100 pattern if you want to wall mount or use a different monitor arm. Comes with one display port cable but no hdmi cable. The screen is 49" ultrawide so its like having two 27" monitors side by side. Its massive! The curve in this is 1000r which is a bit more than the typical 1800r. The 1000r curve works really good with this width. I find it very immersive. As for picture quality I admit I was disappointed at first but was eventually able to get it looking good. My biggest gripe with this monitor is the provided color profiles. I found them all either way too warm or way too cool. They also all looked extremely washed out. I had to do some tweaking in the picture settings and eventually was able to get the colors to look better. With that said out of the box you might not be impressed but you can make this thing look good with some effort. Since its a VA type panel it looks good if your sitting right in front of it but fades rather quickly as soon as you walk away, but that's expected. Lets be clear. This is Samsung's budget-friendly G9 monitor. While it forgoes the 240Hz refresh rate, OLED display, and customizable RGB lighting found in its premium siblings, this G9 still delivers a compelling visual experience. Its using a 144Hz VA panel at 5120 X 1440 which is still impressive. And since its LCD you don't have to worry about burn-in or text fringing that a lot of the OLEDs have. It has a auto detect feature if you have multiple inputs but it only works if it detects a new connection. It wont revert back to the other inputs if you disconnect the one you are using. I use this for both occasional gaming and work related stuff so I have two different PCs connected at once. Most of my work involves text on the screen and needing multiple windows up at the same time. With that said this monitor works wonders for this use case and I find that it significantly boosts productivity. When it's time to unwind with a game I love the extra screen real estate and the 144HZ refresh rate. Note if you play a game that doesn't support the full 5120 X 1440 resolution it just puts black bars on the side. Is this the best ultrawide monitor out there? No. But what your getting here is a 49" ultrawide monitor under 1k that you can use for gaming and productivity. With that said that's a pretty solid deal.

I’m not sure if this review is this brand monitor but I tend to think it’s not. I bought an open box version and got it home and it just didn’t work. I replace it with a different version that works flawlessly and Best Buy return policy is amazing but for me this particular monitor did not work.

Purchased online as an open box and got it home to find out there were at least a dozen lines across the whole screen. Took it back for a refund, but I should have learned...this is the second time and open box has not been in good condition when clearly stated on the open box condition that it was supposed to be in good working order.

Some weird compromises for this price point

This monitor is not what I would consider spectacular, but it's not bad either. It has some really good features to it and others that are just...standard at this point. Construction: The monitor has a plasticky feel - but not where it really matters in the base, which is built very well, requires no tools to put together and even gives a little freedom of movement to get the screen exactly where you want it. Screen/Picture Quality: The images on the monitor are quite nice - that is, when you're facing it directly. Thankfully, the curve is just right to keep the screen viewable when you turn your head; but if you move out of the "sweet spot" too much, the quality of the images on the screen start to degrade. I also see a little bit of light bleed on the edges of the screen - when it's black, mostly, but otherwise not noticeable. One quirky issue I found with the curvature of the screen is the echo. I'm on teleconferences often and the curve of the monitor creates a noticeable echo that can be a bit distracting. General Features: A 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh seem on the slow/low side for newer gaming monitors - although I have to admit I can't really tell the difference from my 0.03ms/240Hz monitor. I like the placement of the ports. Although they can sometimes be difficult to get to, it's much better than having ports sticking directly out from the back. One other little nitpick is that switching between inputs takes a few seconds. That seemed a bit weird to me. For its price point, I'm really not sure about this monitor. It's a new release, but its specs appear to trail behind some of the older G9s. For this price (or close to it), one could probably get a monitor with similar specs, but with an OLED screen. In fact, Samsung's slightly older super ultra wide OLED monitors (that have faster refresh rates and response times) are frequently on sale for close to this one - but you probably won't get that immersive curvature.

First a disclaimer: I am more of a casual, not hardcore gamer. I agreed to review this monitor using my usual game, Microsoft Flight Simulator X. First thing, my video card would not drive this display to full resolution, so an upgrade was needed. I then discovered FSX doesn't support ultra-widescreen displays, so that needs an update as well. To save time (and money) I had my hardcore gaming daughter play some games on my computer. First, some hardware stats: Ryzen 5 5600GT, 32GB RAM, GeForce RTX3050 video card. The main game tested was Final Fantasy VII (Remake Intergrade). She has previously played this game to the end. The first thing noticed with this monitor was the ability to see so much more of the gameplay area without needing to use camera controls to "look around". She mentioned it was much more immersive and allowed her to more thoroughly enjoy the beauty and detail of the game world. She normally plays on a 43" 4K HDR display, so this ultrawide view was a significant improvement. With the display in HDR mode the images were clear and clean, and the video cut scenes were gorgeous. Even me sitting back and watching her play, it was easy to be drawn into the world and get involved, even as a spectator. For any game that supports the resolution of this display, it will look better and offer far better play. So much of the area can be seen simply by moving your head, not messing with camera controls. I cannot recommend a display like this highly enough for this sort of computer use. Since most people do more than just play games on their computer, I also wanted to mention more casual uses. I use a jigsaw web site to play some puzzles daily. The best way to work these puzzles is in full screen mode, but this display makes things a bit harder because of the sheer size of the display. I also do some video editing, and can appreciate having the space to have the editing software only on one side of the display and using the other side for something else. This is in addition to the second 32" 1080p monitor I have on the side. So I now have the equivalent of three monitors directly in front of me, which depending on my current use can be either fantastic or a bit of a pain. In most cases, it's much better. But I wanted to make sure to point out that there might be a couple of use cases it's just a bit too much. In conclusion, I highly recommend this display for serious (and even casual) gamers. It also works well for people that often have multiple windows open on their screen Just be aware that some items that use full screen might simply be made too big for comfort.

Samsung - 49" Odyssey G9 G91F 1000R Curved Dual QHD 144Hz 1ms AMD FreeSync Premium Pro Gaming Monitor with HDR600 (HDMI x2, DP, USB) – Black Here’s some of the stats: DQHD 5120x1440 (similar to having two 27” monitor screens run side-to-side), VESA Display HDR 600, 144 Hz VRR, 1 MS response time, dual screens if using two inputs otherwise one large screen with one input, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, you can set it up Picture-by-Picture (2 screens) and Picture-in-Picture, Auto Source Switch+ (monitor detects turned on connected device and switches to new source signal), of course the monitor swivels, tilts, raises and lowers. It has a headphone port, 2 HDMI ports, DP, USB-A downstream, USB-B upstream, another USB-A downstream. I’ve not had a curved monitor before, but it didn’t take me very long to really like the screen space! I have my workspace with my gaming laptop to the right of the G9 and a 27” monitor on the left end of the G9 in portrait mode for documents and/or email, File Explorer etc. Anyway, getting back to the G9, I’ve been gaming on it too and it certainly adds to the immersive experience. I love that you can see to your character’s left and right sides to keep better track of what’s off to your sides including things trying to shoot, bludgeon or eat you! Response time is great with no ghosting or distortion at all. It shows color very well along with its good resolution. When not gaming, I’ll have various windows open on it to keep track of different things while I’m working on a document, looking up something on the internet etc. with it all on the same screen as I prefer. Like I said earlier, the ones I leave open all day will usually be on my laptop monitor or the portrait one to the left end of the G9. That way I can do all sorts of things directly on the G9 with all that wonderful screen space. Even when I’m not gaming the curved screen makes it easier and smoother to see other open programs without your eyes having to jump to a completely different screen. As you would imagine, the G9 is a weighty item as it has to be to give a secure base for the big screen, but it’s manageable to move around if needed. While the G9 is designed to operate at 144 Hz, I seem to have a problem with it doing so. The monitor comes with its power cord along with a DP cord, but I don’t have a DP port on my laptop so I’m using a pretty good HDMI cable to the G9. I can set it for 144 Hz but it will blink out for a few seconds every once in a while. When I set it to lower refresh rates it still does this blinking until I get to 60 Hz then it’s fine. I suspect I may need a DP cable with an HDMI connector on one end to get the proper bandwidth or whatever it takes for the monitor to perform normally at 144 Hz – that’s my theory at this point since I’m convinced it isn’t the monitor’s fault. Frankly, I don’t want to go back to two side-by-side monitors anymore, as I had for years in my previous desk setup. This lovely, curved monitor is completely pleasing to me and I have every intention of using it for everything until it dies in some far distant time!

This is my first time experiencing an ultra wide monitor that is larger then 34" and after I received the box, I could not help but turn my laughs into smiles and my smiles into pure WOW. Let me start by saying that any company that can manufacture such a well built computer monitor at 49" wide with an incredible curve deserves PRAISE. The unboxing of this monitor is extremely simple. The monitor is well protected by Styrofoam and the cardboard box is rather thick. The base is quite large but extremely sturdy and it connect with the arm simply. The monitor when attached to the stand can be raised and tilted for your viewing pleasure. The viewing pleasure is, well, immersive....like extremely immersive. when I look at the center of the screen it seems like its the normal distance of a monitor, however, when I look at the curved sides (left and right of course) they appear much closer to me and I genuinely feel like I am running a command center. This Odyssey G9 monitor has duel QHD resolutions and its very clear. Strikingly clear be it playing an immersive video game, watching a movie or doing regular work. This is 240Hz with a 1ms response time which is incredible for perfect frame gaming which looks flawless during testing. This is also HDMI 2.1 which is quite nice. It is also very cool that you can have a triple display layout for regular work or general computer use or have two really large multi screen options. I tested out the new auto source switch and the monitor rapidly chances source signals which was very cool. I think I am spoiled now with this 49" size and I can guarantee you that I will be buying another one of these 49" Odyssey G9 units for my office. This product is incredible and massive kudos to Samsung for developing something like this.

As always with anything from BEST BUY, shipping was quick and the product arrived in great shape and undamaged. Set up was a little time consuming for us but alas we are seniors and surely for a younger person more adapt with today's technology it is probably a breeze. Keep in mind that his is our very first CURVED Computer Gaming Monitor, so we really don't have anything to judge it against, none the less this monitor is fantastic, it's everything that it is advertised to be and more. So crisp and clear and I swear we can see not only more detail on our favorite games than previously playing on a regular computer monitor but we can now see things that we never really noticed before, things at the peripheral edges that we didn't notice before. Deep solid Black Colors, and no lag time whatsoever that we can see. And the cherry on top is the picture in a picture feature so multi-tasking is possible without game playing interruption. Although the screen does tilt, the stand in general does not go up as high as it should, and it definitely can tip over forward a lot more easily than tip over backward and you would think that the designers would of made that the other way around. The fun and change in over all game playing experience is well worth the price and more. This is a fun product and we are very please with it. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family.
