One of the best sound bars I have heard. If you are playing dolby atmos material it is top notch. Other formats are good but dolby atmos is where it shines. I bought an open box one and a four year extended warranty for $1,009.00 dollars total. I gave the sound bar a 4 because it quit working in dolby atmos. I took it to the Geek service center and it came back in working condition and has been working fine ever since.
The surround wireless speakers have been working great and I have found no hissing sounds from them like some reviewers have noted.

Went in to look at Bose products to upgrade my old Samsung surround sound. I purchased my 4K Samsung tv last year, and my Samsung 4K player last month, now it was time to upgrade to 4K sound. The sales associate asked if I had heard Samsung's new sound bar, and I had not, so I went to view the demo. After only 5 minutes of the demo, I knew I had to have it to complete my home theatre setup. I opted to get this package setup with the rear speakers included for an extra $300, and I have to say, it produces the cleanest, crispest, and loudest sound I have heard out of any soundbar system that is out there. With the 4K player and a 4K movie playing, at only half the available volume, it shakes our great room like a movie theatre. If you have a 4K tv, and are thinking about getting the 4K player, do it, and get this new soundbar while you're at it, it is worth the extra money.

I have a full 7.2.4 Atmos setup in my personal media room so I have a ton of background knowledge when it comes to what it should sound like. This sound bar obviously does not compare to that setup. However, for a small game room with my LG OLED this is about as good as it gets. I needed something that allowed for 4k and HDR passthrough as well as ARC support. I also needed something that produced really good sound without having to run a ton of wires. This is one of a very few that fit the bill. After using it for about a week now I am very happy with it. The atmos effect is not as obvious as it is in my theater, but it can still be felt. The surround is present and clear. I don't have any hissing that others complained about.
My room for this is only 11x12 and I think that play to the strengths and weaknesses a bit. Strength in making good surround and reflections. Weaknesses in that the rear surrounds are bit too close to me. Still I think the soundstage produced is far better than any soundbar I have used, and the sub is for real. It actually booms and shakes the room. If you need a discrete system that can really pack a punch while also giving a really clean sound and good vocals this will do the trick. If you also need 4k and HDR and don't want to have to use a receiver and soundbar then this is probably one of the best options out there right now.

This is the perfect solution for someone like us who rent their home and can't install a permanent surround sound system in the walls. The sound quality is very good. The bass is great, and you can feel the rumble from it during music and movies. We did a lot of research before spending this much money on a sound bar, and are very happy with it. We purchased it along with a new Samsung 55" 4k Smart TV, and the combination is amazing. It came with the 2 wireless rear speakers and the subwoofer, so it's everything needed for a great TV sound system. We also use it with music Apps and with our turntable, and the sound quality is great.

Good soundbar has great sound quality bass is awesome, the rear speakers are little feeble if you dont have a atmos content. With Atmos the whole system comes to life.
You also need a proper cable, a source to play atmos content, fortunately XBOX allows to convert most of the contents to atmos PS4, Roku wont work. Or you should have a blue-ray player and a atmos movie or content to feel the real awesomeness of the speaker. All together for the cost its great if you are using it with XBOX or a Blueray player with atmos content. It recently got DTS 5.1 support as well so its great to watch 5.1 content as well. You need to spend a lot more to get atmos setup at your home compared to what you get with these speakers plus its wireless.

The sounds speakers are phenomenal for home entertainment. A little on the pricy side and the rear speakers sometimes buzz with 4K UHD movies, but Blu-ray’s are fine.

I was extremely hesitant to buy this soundbar for two reasons: Price and DTS Compatibility. Prior to my purchase, I had a Denon X1100 Receiver with Polk Bookshelf Speakers, Polk Center Speaker, and Energy Take Classic for the Upper Front, Upper Rear, and Subwoofer Channel. However, my existing system was installed in my man-cave that had all the speaker wiring in the walls and I was getting ready to move into a new condo that was smaller and didn't have room for the big Polk center channel under the TV (TV will be hung above mantel). I also didn't want to run wires all around my new living room. After a lot of research, I decided that I wanted the best possible soundbar to compete with my existing 7.1 setup with minimal wiring and footprint. In the end, it came down to the Sonos Soundbar + Subwoofer + Surrounds versus the Samsung HW-K950 that came with everything in a single package. I decided on the Samsung over Sonos for a few reasons:
1. Cheaper
2. Both systems lack DTS so no advantage or disavantage over Sonos
3. Performance - I was blown away by the power that this system provides
While the Sonos would have allowed me to set up more speakers throughout my new condo for multi-room audio capability, I decided that the Samsung had better living room performance which was the most important aspect. It turns out that Samsung also has multi-room capability but I will probably buy some in-ceiling speakers down the road and hook them up to my Denon Receiver using the pre-wired in-ceiling system for music throughout my condo. So far, I have enjoyed the audio from the Samsung HW-K950 for gaming, movies, TV, and music in the living room. However, I have yet to buy a 4K blu-ray player with a Dolby Atmos movie to get a true Dolby Atmos performance. I'm sure this system will be even better once the technology becomes more prominent. Also, it would be great if Samsung released a software/firmware update for DTS compatibility. This would make this system a no brainer to purchase.

I bought this hoping it could replace my full AVR system and was super excited about the Atmos feature. Sadly for the price of this system, it didn't deliver all that was hyped up to be. If you're playing media with Dolby Atmos, this thing performs great. I personally felt the highs were too high and the bass too low with with not a lot of mid-range sound. It still sounded good and would have kept this product if not for its lack of features. While Atmos is great, most things aren't there yet. Considering this is a 5.1.2 system and the price paid for it, it doesn't handle other Dolby signals which is a real shame. It's not that it won't take other Dolby signals, it just down plays them to 2.0 then tries and recreate the sound. I just assumed it would take DTS, TrueHD, and Dolby Digital and process those signals accordingly. For something to cost this much and not even process the most common formats was a major turn off. 5.1 sound downgraded to 2.0 and then replicated back is not the way to go. I'll be holding off for something better. I tested this with a HTCP, NVidia Shield, and Xbox One S.

The sound is great on this. If you have it hooked up properly, the sound is loud and you wont go pass volume 25 during a movie (and that's LOUD). I usually watch tv on a volume of 10-12 and i don't sit close. The only way right now to get the Atmos is by a 4k player and 4K movie. That sounds amazing! It can upscale regular movies and Netflix close to Atmos, which still sounds good. Its clear, loud and the bass is just right. Has a lot of features. It does lack DTS 5.1, but can be fixed in the future with a firmware update if Samsung chooses to provide it. I'm a Samsung fan and this goes great with my new Samsung TV.

MON5T3R: Thank you for purchasing the Samsung K950 Soundbar with Dolby ATMOS. I am glad to see that you are happy with this device.
Please know that you do not need a 4K Blu-ray player to have Dolby ATMOS playback. Any Blu-ray player that allows the HDMI audio to be sent unprocessed will enable you to take advantage of Dolby ATMOS.

I'll make this as brief as possible...this thing sounds great and gets very loud. It's not amazing for music, but for gaming and movies, it's awesome.
So why 4 stars - no DTS:X or any DTS surround support. No on-screen display. The remote is meh.
If you've got a square/rectangular room and don't want to run wires all over the place this setup is great, a little pricey, but great.

I've got the kw-850 and I couldn't be happy without having the Atmos rear speakers that it comes with this model, way better sound when integrated, the Dolby Atmos feature working in conjunction with the bar, the sub and the rear speakers really enhances the experience in movies, music or anything that has the Dolby sound. I also purchased the Radiant speakers to get more rich sound.

I read the reviews on this unit prior to me purchasing this unit and was a little skeptical. Once I hooked it up and watched Star Trek into darkness I was blown away on how good the movie sounded in Dolby Atmos , I was very impressed!!! You get what you pay for and I have no regrets buying this soundbar.

Yes it sounds amazing! No, it doesn’t support Dolby Atmos through ARC, that’s a bummer because I have the LG C7. No worries, I’m using a Nvidia shield and can get Atmos with VuDU. Overall very happy! I initially bought the new Sony Atmos Soundbar but ended up returning it and getting this one! I have to say, this one sounds soooo much better with the rear speakers.

Coldsteel,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-K950 Soundbar System.
Please know that the request for Dolby Atmos through ARC is not related to the Soundbar, but to the source device. Please make sure your TV can pass through Dolby Atmos signals to the Soundbar.
Alternatively, you can make your Soundbar play Dolby Atmos content by connecting a capable device -- such as a Samsung UHD Blu-ray player-- to the K950 via HDMI. When an Atmos soundtrack is played back from the source device, the Soundbar light will illuminate blue and display “Dolby ATMOS” on the Soundbar screen. Also please check the external device you are using as it may require additional steps to pass Dolby Atmos – for example, if using a Samsung UHD Blu-ray Player, the UHD Blu-ray Audio setting need to be changed to “Bitstream (Uncompressed)”.
