This sound bar and subwoofer sound very good. The surround sound mode can be difficult to understand talking in lower volumes.

This is not easy to set up, and when you do the volume is no better with this than ti was with our TV. We're very disappointed.

Love this sound bar and sub woofer. The only problem I found was my Samsung tv I bought around 2015 wasn't able to control the volume with the tv remote. But for my firetv remote the volume control worked. Other than that it sounds great.

The sound is awesome however there seems to be a lag in volume change when hooking it up to the rear surround kit. The rear surround stays at the same volume when I turn the volume down. Other than that, it is a massive improvement over standard tv speakers.

Vast Improvement over a 2.1 system

This is replacing a Yamaha 2.1 system. Because of the size of the room, the voices tend to get lost in the volume. This is where a 3.1 or 5.1 system shines. The voice channel is separate and it make the dialog in shows much easier to hear for those of us with hearing issues.

We have high ceilings so that is probably the big problem for us with sound. We had to get a sound bar because it was hard to hear the voices in movies without turning the TV volume up very high. This sound bar helps a lot however, it does not give out the ranges that we expected. The base is so weak that we didn't think it was working at first but it does come out in other movies. We are not gamers but big movie watchers.

This soundbar system is unfrigginbelievable! The sound is so dense and booming when you have your TV at only 25% volume during certain movies/show scenes you have to actually turn it down! It a rip-roaring 360 watt subwoofing beast! I love this thing and am so glad I went with it over the little brother (550 series) version! I only wish I had gone with the big brother version surround speakers (9000 series) too and not the ones they recommend in this soundbar/subwoofer's manual (8500 series)! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PURCHASE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO ACTUALLY HEAR THE SOUND COMING FROM THE MODERN DAY HUGE SMART SAMSUNG TVS (that let's face it, have very weak speakers).

Bought on sale with 4k TV. Spent more money than I originally planned and a little unsure if this was worth it but really happy with the sound. I did go into the store planning to buy a sound bar and was undecided between the lower end and this sound bar. Note this is the first sound bar we've bought to go with any TV. The bass adds depth to the movies and the sounds are clear. Seem to have issues with volume - sometimes it the lower levels are sufficiently loud but other times we need to crank it up.

[ Sound quality ] As seems to be a common problem with sound bars, the sound profile of this sound bar is muffled and extremely hollow. In comparison, a basic set of 2.1 channel computer speakers (2 satellite + subwoofer) that costs a small fraction of the price sounds immensely better, and real speaker setups at comparable price range are better yet. If sound quality is a major concern to you, I suggest not considering a sound bar in general, regardless of your budget. I was intrigued by the availability of a gaming sound mode--and the suggested benefits--but in thorough testing of this mode while gaming, it managed to routinely make me feel like I had cotton in my ears; a rather disorienting experience. Music played through this sound bar sounded unsurprisingly pathetic. The closest thing to a passable performance came when watching television shows and movies. I found the subwoofer to provide plenty of bass. [ Connectivity ] This sound bar provides a rather comprehensive selection of connectivity options. I found Bluetooth connectivity problematic, with the sound dropping out very frequently--a completely untenable situation. I was able to stream audio--from the same PC I used for testing--to other audio output devices (speakers, headphones) via Bluetooth with no interruptions in the streams, within a couple of feet of where the sound bar was located. Quite unfortunately, the volume levels of Bluetooth and optical connections (which I used for testing on my PC) were way off, with the Bluetooth input source sounding maybe twice as loud as optical input, which I found rather jarring when switching between input sources. Further, the sound bar would not honor my input source preference. When I had the sound bar paired and connected with a device via Bluetooth and would then use the remote control to select "D.IN" (digital/optical cable) as the source, about three to five seconds later, the sound bar would automatically switch back to Bluetooth as the input source. I had to disconnect the Bluetooth source in order to use another input source. I found this to be neither expected nor desired behavior. On a positive note, the latency of sound output is fairly low for a sound bar (at least when using a wired connection), which increases its value for gaming, and when watching television and movies in scenarios where you can't adjust audio or video stream latency to synchronize the two. [ Conclusion ] With Bluetooth connectivity so problematic, I can't recommend this product, even to someone set on a sound bar. If you can ignore Bluetooth as an option, the low latency might make this unit worth considering, among sound bars. If audio quality is a top concern, you could spend the same amount of money or less on virtually any set of real 2.1 or 5.1 channel speakers for a much greater sound experience.

Let me start by saying I've been dabbling in high end home audio since 1993 when I worked at a fairly high end store thru college. I do have a media room full of Rotel amps and Miller and Kreisel drivers, soon to be Atmos capable if the wife lets me! With that said, we just finished a loft in the house and we find ourselves in that space quite often watching TV at night. I wanted a sound bar to add a little bit to the room. We have a Bose ST300 5.1 system in our family room, and for being what it's, it's fantastic - but we didn't want the entire set up for this room and the Bose ST300 soundbar by itself is nothing spectacular. You NEED the sub to bring that system to life. I went Sonos this time to try it, and I was sorely disappointed. The Beam was not what I would have imagined at all. Sound was harsh, cinema was poorly processed and volume levels were not balanced at all. And the sub. . holy my lord, that thing is overpowering in a small space. Returned it. In comes the HW-N650. We got it on sale for $399. Which is a decent price, considering the Sonos Beam is the same price, and this system with the sub is far better for our application. We looked at the HW-MS650 with the 10" wireless sub, but decided against it for the N650. The positives - Flawless set up through our Samsung Q8F. Put the wall mounts up. Mounted the bar. Plugged the sub in. It was paired right away. 25 mins and we were watching a movie. Sound is bright, and lively. It's decent. It does a phenomenal job at sounding much bigger than it's. The sub is very well done. Extremely balanced, excels in cinema applications. Cons - While it sounds decent, the sound is over processed by the DSP. You can tell it's working overtime to create that giant sound stage that it does. Volume levels are inconsistent and certain sounds do get lost. @@@@@@@@ I don't know how Bose does this, but they have mastered it in the ST300). If you are a person who enjoys big booming bass in movies, this is not the sub for you. When you turn the woofer up, bass becomes muddled and messy sounding. It's overpowering at times. Leaving the sub volume alone is nice and balanced, lows are low and very tight and clean. This is NOT a setup for music. Once again, the DSP works overtime. It's very unnatural to listen to. This is a much better system for cinema applications. With all that said, for $399, this is a great piece to own. Excels in small spaces, and creates a huge sound stage as advertised. Sub is fantastic if the levels are left alone IMO. Set up was simple, almost brainless. I am going to add the wireless surrounds, I plan on keeping this system for a while. The DSP sound is one of the things that is just part of these soundbars trying to create big sounds from small drivers. It's part of how they work. @@@@@@@@ Once again, Bose does an incredible job at this. @@@@@@@ Samsung has done a decent job with it not being to over processed (Like the Sonos was. @@@@@@@ . I notice it, but I can't imagine too many people would notice or even care quite honestly. This is a quality piece, Samsung did a fine job, and for $399, it's a great buy.
