Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the ease of use, cooking performance, and convection features of the 5.8 Cu. Ft. Self-Cleaning Slide-In Gas Convection Range. Many appreciate the multiple burner sizes and the aesthetically pleasing design. However, some users note that the stainless steel surface is prone to scratches and fingerprints, requiring more diligent cleaning. Concerns were also raised regarding the durability of certain components, such as the knobs.

I have owned this range for two years. I cook 2-3 meals a day with it every day. The range works well and the high output burner is great. The broiler is very low power and does not have an option to increase the heat. The self clean function on my unit has never worked well. Turns on but does not get hot enough to "Clean" the oven. I need to use strong cleaners anyway. I would not recommend this product.

This stove is a killer to clean. Bought ours in black which shows every speck there is. Seems like a poor quality finish compared with our last stove. Good luck cleaning it.

We've owned this product a little over a month and are disappointed in it. Though the cooktop is okay, the gas convection oven is poor. The fan runs intermittently, and uneven heat distribution burns the sides of pizza's while middle still undercooked. If an oven can't cook the simplest meal of pizza , it shouldn't be purchased. Unfortunately we're stuck with this poor $1700 under performer.

I purchased this range May 2019 and the coating is now peeling off. I have contacted samsung who said it is out of warranty and even if it was still in the warranty it is cosmetic and not covered. its going to look really bad a year from now, I have had it for 20 months

    Powerful and Beautiful

Granted, we've only had this installed a few days, but I love this thing. In my past career, I was a professional chef in elite restaurants, so I have certain expectations with ranges. My house had a Wolf DF304 which I love, but then I rented that out and moved in with my fiance. She had an electric coil stove. It was doable, but that's all it was. After much research, and flat out refusal to buy a Wolf, I settled on this for dimension and BTU reasons. The burners are great. They light quickly, they're powerful, and the grates are nice and heavy. Not as heavy duty as a Wolf, but heavy enough. Half the price for a Wolf is just for the name anyway. Even at $7,000, it doesn't compare to even a low end restaurant range. We ended up getting this one at Best Buy for $1,812 out the door with sales and a coupon. The burners are more adjustable than another reviewer has mentioned, and it looks great. Those are the pros. The three cons I've noticed thus far and why I've docked it a star are the following: - Middle burner isn't a screamer. I let the grill portion heat up for at least 15 minutes on high and some meat barely sizzled when I applied it. It seems more like a quesadilla grill/griddle than a screaming meat griddle. I'm ok with that though as I prefer charcoal anyway. - The LCD screen. It's gorgeous, but it's right in the line of fire for grease. It would be nice if it folded up. I worry about scratching in the future as I wipe down ranges immediately after use, and that could add to some wear. - The top of the range is stainless. This is beautiful when clean, but it's always dirty. I'm worried about using barkeeper's on it to clean it as I assume it would scratch it. Stainless is definitely prettier, but black would have been more functional. Having said that, I would buy this range again. I might just be excited because I'm back to gas after almost a year of electric coil, but I would even consider replacing my Wolf with it if it came down to that.

    Great Range

Wonderful range. We replaced a Jenn-Air freestanding range with this one. This ranges burners put out high heat even on medium low, so play with it a bit to get used to it. Most stainless steel products scratch easily so that’s expected. Using a soft fiber cloth to clean it has worked well. The grates will scratch the surface (which is expected as they are heavy cast iron). Read the manual, that’s important for manufacturers recommendations and to understand the product completely. Per the manual the griddle takes at least 5 minutes of preheating to get hot. Cast iron is a completely different different beast. We cook often with cast iron so we know it’s not to be washed with water and soap, don’t scrape it, don’t soak it in water, etc. I’d recommend looking up cast iron maintenance because it can rust if not properly taken care of. This is a cooks range for sure. I found when baking using the manufacturers recommended rack levels (cake on the 3rd or 4th rack) my baked goods turned out beautiful and evenly cooked. Again powerful heating so pay attention to that. So far so good.

A few things to be aware of

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've owned the stove for almost 2 years now and did a good amount of research before I purchased it. The Good.... Love the range top and the spaciousness of the oven. It makes holiday cooking or big meals so much easier. This range gets a lot of use and it holds up to that. The surface under the cast iron grates (I'm guessing some kind of aluminum) is easy to clean, but scratches easily, not that anyone sees that. The cast iron is easy to clean up. Gas range and oven heat consistently. Great controls and options for cooking. Self cleaning works really well. The Bad... The middle burner is largely unused by our family. The oblong shape makes it difficult to use that burner and use any other of the burners. I've recently had to replace the ignitor in the gas oven...which concerns me seeing as how the range has been in the house less than 2 years. Another thing to be aware of is that because Samsung is new to the appliance stage and uses sensors and computer technology in its appliances, it can be difficult to find someone that is trained to repair Samsung appliances. I had two appliance repairman tell me that they wouldn't work on the range because they hadn't been trained. I do love the stove, I would most likely purchase it again. It's been a workhorse in our kitchen.

    Stylish, Innovative, Reliable

I initially bought the Samsung 5700 and exchanged it three days later for this one, which is vastly superior and well-worth the extra money. You can use the slide-in in any space you would use the free-standing model. The 5700 had faulty ignition sensors and filled my apartment with gas; this has a safety ignition and then you can adjust it to any temperature. The wok and two-sided grill are very useful. Looks great in a small condo instead of the over-sized back splash free-standing model. Great stainless stove top instead of nasty black enamel. I don't like the black sides, but most of that is hidden (why not gray, white or stainless sides???). The stainless shows fingerprints and is hard to clean, even with stainless cleaner. The grates are super heavy and the digital oven is unnecessary but fine. Overall, this is a beautiful, reliable, safe range with lots of useful technology. The Best Buy installers are the most qualified in the local market!

Looks beautiful, quit working just shy of two years. Quoted $700 to repair by Samsung service without even looking at it. Don't buy. Lots of reviews state the same issues. Defective product. Cancelled my service appointment, bought a new non-Samsung range. I will never buy a Samsung product again.

    Very good unit!

I have had this unit for a few weeks and I am very satisfied. The burners are very efficient. The oven gets to temperature quickly and recovers adequately. The unit is very attractive and fits in very nicely with our other appliances. My wife and I are professional chefs (semi-retired) and we do a LOT of cooking. So far we are very satisfied. I would like to address some of the “cons” that have been listed: There is nothing wrong with the grates. Yes they are a bit rough but have already smoothed out with use. And yes the “Blackness” will start to wear away and show wear. If you use inexpensive cheaply made lightweight pans; you will burn your food. The burners are powerful and require decent quality pans. The unit is NOT noisy. Some reviews here have dealt with the poor service from Samsung customer service. This one I will agree with. I highly recommend adding the Geek Squad service contract. The simple truth is that with all the electronics that are on appliances today it is safe to say that the service contract will pay for itself over the 5 years. I have dealt with both Samsung customer service and LG customer service. LG customer service is an absolute waste of time on the phone. Samsung customer service is a bit better, but unfortunately not by much. The few times I have used the Geek Squad they have been nothing but top notch. A very educated person (in the USA by the way) that helped trouble shoot, then a well-qualified technician that came to fix a minor issue with my refrigerator. It is your choice of course to get the service contract but 1 year warrantees just do not cut it with all the added electronics etc. Bon Appétit!

Cooks well, but highly automated and may not fit

I ordered this range on Black Friday. Due to its popularity, I didn't receive it until the first week of February. I've had it a little over a week now, and I'm not sure it was worth the wait. Appearance: It looks just as good in my kitchen as it did in the store, except for the fit. There is a plate that's supposed to fill in the gap between the back of the range and the wall, but it only comes out about an inch, which isn't even far enough to overhang the bulges on the back of the oven, much less cover the gap to the wall. The back of the oven bulges run higher up than a lot of other ranges - in my case, it's higher than the gas valve, so there's another couple inches of rear clearance lost. If your gas valve isn't right at the floor, or you're not installing in an island with a lot of countertop between the range and the back of the island, you may have fit problems. I would not try replacing a freestanding range with this unit. Build quality/durability: Controls feel solidly constructed. Burners and grates are heavy and feel durable, but the black coating on the grates wore down to bare metal in spots after the first time I flipped an egg. The oven racks are just a little oversized and tight to get in and out. Functionality/usability: I love the power burner, but I hate that every single burner is a different size. If you're making three or four different things at once, you have to plan your moves ahead of time. The oven heats up pretty quickly, and the thermostat is reasonably accurate. (within 10 degrees @ 350, within 15 @ 500, 10 minutes post-preheat, convection off#. The split rack may come in handy one day, but I'd rather have gliding racks #especially at its MSRP#. It's good that it has a warming drawer, because the oven is overly-automated and hard to use for warming - if you turn the oven off, it automatically cools the oven using the fan and vent. In addition to wasting electricity, it's noisy and heats up the kitchen. Overall: Despite my nitpicking, it's a decent range, but it's overpriced. There are better options in its normal price range. I paid just over half MSRP on Black Friday #thanks to a 10% off coupon) and for a slide-in it's competitive in that range, but there are still probably a few better choices unless you're in love with the LCD panel.
