I got a great price for this system around black Friday, plus I had gift cards and certificates. So I purchased this as an early Christmas gift for myself. The main reasons I got this system was because it was Samsung a trusted brand, the price point and it was 5.1 and 1000 watts. Now that I have had it several months, I can give my honest opinion. The sound quality is pretty good. The first night I purchased it I watched the first Marvel Avengers and the surround sound was good considering it is a smaller theater system. I did like the bass, but there was a little bit of crackling with one of the speakers during certain scenes. The bass was not bad. Set up was easy. Bluetooth is nice. I have connected my 6 TB HDD to the system and I can play content from it with not real problems. Some of the AVIs aren't supported though. Plays blu-rays well. Processor it pretty good. The black color is nice, but does attract a lot of dust. The EQ settings suck. Music doesn't sound good in the music mode. You have to turn the system up very high some times to hear some conversations, the voices aren't clear enough. Music sounds very washed out. Doesn't come with an optical cable, I had to purchase one separately. I would not recommend. Save your money and you can get a much better system for around or a little more then what this retails for.

Less Apps. Lacks Memory for disc. HDMI issue

I initially liked it once I bought. Setting up the system was a breeze. Issue 1: Most important issue. If you watch 30 minutes of a movie in your blu-ray/dvd, the next time you switch on, it starts again from 0 minutes. It should be from 31st minute. The system does not maintain memory. It is frustrating. Same holds good for movies played through external USB hard drives that you plug in. Issue 2: It does not use Samsung Smart TV apps but only Opera Store apps which may is outdated. You may not get future upgrades. System may fail soon. If you are fine with the above issues, then this system is good. It has quality sound for the price (Dont expect the sound to be anything near to a receiver and speaker setup). In addition to the above issues, HDMI was not syncing properly with my LG TV (Model 47LM600). So I had to return. I bought a basic Yamaha receiver+speaker+amazon fire tv. And the quality of the sound is mind blowing. The total price was approxmately 400 (just $50 more), but it was worth it.

Just barely acceptable but not for us

We are tranquil audio equipment users: mostly listen to NPR on FM radio and want to do so the internet. We hoped that this product would work for us because it offers an interesting set of features. Unfortunately, they are assembled within in barely acceptable plastic--the shiny type that shows fingerprints and attracts dust. More importantly (even in the relatively small space in which I intended to employ it), the product's sound quality is just OK . Because just OK isn't good enough I returned the item. But here is another reason I did so: I wanted the wireless rear speakers to produce sound when we listened to the FM radio. While I was advised by the Samsung that they would do so (via a particular setting), the sound was too quiet to hear.

I had been following this for a long time, as I owned a 500 wt samsung blu-ray for some years. Wanted more power with my new tv. First off, app selection is great, netflix, and amazon will get lots of use, they connect easily, and great. Blu-rays tested, play awesome, clean, sync good. Cons: Overall volume, the same as my 500 wt, zero additional volume. Also, my bad for not reading specs, one hdmi. Old one had hdmi in, and out, had directtv, and blu-ray both running thru it, now, i believe i need rca cables to get tv volume controlled thru it. Nice system, great price when i got it here, best buy even price matched when they lowered price next week.

This is my second Blu-Ray Home Theater system. Loved the first one; had the Geek Squad set it up. After many years it di d, so I ou chased this system. First, it was very easy to setup - the non-geek me did it! But, then I found that the remote was missing. Went back to the store but they could not give me one, so I had to buy a remote! After getting that remote programmed, I then found that the 'surround, remote' speakers didn't work. After checking all my connections and troubleshooting, I finally find out that they will only work on certain blu-ray dvd's only - not when viewing tv or movies from cable. Very disappointing.

It's pretty good but the surround speakers that are wireless don't always play..if u buy a home theatre system that comes with 5speakers and a Subwoofer..Then ALL 6 Speakers should play at THE SAME TIME ALL THE TIME..That's the only reason I bought a new home theatre system. The one I had(Also a Samsung)didn't play all the speakers at the same time..So I bought a new system and the same thing is happening with this too..

We replaced an older version that starting acting funny. We were excited with the new look and features but are disappointed w the performance. It does not allow for multiple HDMI... uses a new Optical cable and one HDMI. There are many FIOS channels where we do not get sound... sometimes it is just commercials or the entire show or channel. For whatever reason it does recognize the format and we can't find a setting or opton that will make it work. Every once in awhile... the speakers make a pop noise for no reason. Other than that, it works fine.

The audio return connection,ARC, did not work with my roku TCL TV. It possibly could be the TV's fault and not the Samsung 's. Trying to get help from Best Buy's Geek Squad was a joke. Over the phone they told me I had to do this on line. With a live chat. The people on the live chat told me I had to do it over the phone. Both devices were bought at Best Buy and I would have thought I would have gotten more assistance. All they want to do was send a service person out. Make some more money I guess.

It works well enough. I was upgrading an existing HTIB that was left by previous home owners. This doesn't include any mounting hardware for the speakers, so I just left the old ones up. Also, the Netflix app doesn't do surround sound, which on a home theater system is absurd beyond belief. I don't know who that's on: Samsung or Netflix. I tried calling Samsung but the lady was no help whatsoever. Bluetooth is a nice feature, as you can not only stream from your phone, but it will also connect to our Amazon Echo Dot.

We bought this to replace an old LG system that that gone out. The overall sound quality, in my opinion, is "poor" to "fair" and I honestly wish I'd spent a little more money to get a better quality wireless system. The thing that's nice about this system is that it's very user friendly to set up, then two rear mounts are wireless to an extent which keeps you from running wires across your living room (thought I've never heard them come on in anything we've watched). Overall, it's a decent system for the money.

Good System, but rear speakers seem sub-par.

Received my Samsung system quickly. Set up/install was very straight forward and easy. Love the idea of "wireless" rear speakers. *Not wireless to the main unit, but still wired to bluetooth receiver set in back of room. I adjusted 5.1 speaker levels and noticed "grey" noise from all speakers, but when watching TV/DVD/BLUE-RAY, rear speakers are extremely quiet. I have since maxed out dB levels for both rear, and minimized front speaker values. Can still barely hear surround sound.

I purchased this model because Samsung reported that it worked with MLB.TV, Hulu and Netflix. This was not correct - MLB.TV was removed from the app list with the update provided from Samsung (MLB.TV requires an update to work). It produces good sound, however, using the optical cable for TV you lose the surround sound speakers (they only work for DVD/BluRays). I am disappointed that I still have to use my XBox 360 for MLB.TV, but happy otherwise.

The rear speakers are wireless in that they are not connected to the DVD player, however they have wires running between the 2 rear speakers and a wireless receiver. And that comes with yet another power cord! Might as well just run speaker cable, it is easier to route and hide! There is no web browser. And the Samsung Apps/channels are not available. Instead it has OperaTV! Collection of useless content.

This product is good for small living rooms. Good power and features, easy installation. Don't expect high end audio from this unit as that it not what it is designed for. It is designed to be cost effective, yet provide a good listening experience. The rear speakers are powered by an RF receiver, eliminating the need to route wires across your floor. All in all, a good product that is cost effective, sounds good and is easy to install.

I'm disappointed in Samsung with this version of the system. I purchased this one (model HT J5500) to replace the same system (model HT F5500) I had purchased two years ago. They have deleted so many sound options and apps and the web browser that makes this thing basically a blue ray player. You would think newer versions would offer more features not less.

They system is super simple to set up and the sound quality is decent for my living room. The only down side I've found if that sometimes the rear speakers don't work or it will mix up the speaker locations. But doing a simple speaker sound check usually solves the problem pretty quick. Over all I'm very satisfied for the product for the price.

System is easy to setup. It has good bad as well as center channel speaker Rear/surround sound speake is now as effective as it should be I got open box for $230 so it not bad for this price I was debating between the HTIB and sound bar. I choose this over sound bar because I do not have problem of having rear speakers

The first system I bought, the player quit playing my Blu-ray disks after just 41/2 months. Bought the second because I didn't want to be without while the first was sent in for repair. Main reason I bought it was the wireless rear speakers. The speakers that come with it are tinny so I use my JVC speakers from my 10 yr old DVD system. We'll see about this one.

The sound quality is great just had a really hard time figuring out how to hook it up. The wireless speakers (which aren't wireless) don't come with instructions for the wireless receiver. Took a good hour to finally get it to work. I would recommend it but I would have to tell you how to get the wireless receiver to work.

Sound quality isn’t bad but music from your phone doesn’t play from all the speakers and as it gets louder the quality decreases, depends on what you’re looking for but I recommend building your own system with components as opposed to these home theater in a box
