Screen melted out of warranty

The TV worked well for a few years until the screen began to melt in the bottom left corner. The plastic surrounding the screen has melted and the picture quality is now extremely poor.
Do your research on Samsung TVs melting on the internet before purchase. I'm now left with the decision to pursue action against Samsung or just buy another TV.

Excellent 1080p Value

I picked this TV up open box, and Geek Squad certified for $400. My Samsung 55 inch 4k recently started acting up, so I took it back to Aaron's and decided to find a replacement while I'm saving up for a Sony 65" 4k, either the XBR65X850C or XBR65X900C model, or possibly the Samsung UN65JS8500 which was rated 2015's second best TV in an online review. (I just prefer Sony as my #1 brand, and Samsung is a very close second).
Being used to a 4k picture I was a little disappointed after I got this home and set up, even after using calibration settings I found online, but, from what I read, the picture is a little soft on this TV when watching in 720p, and I was using my old Roku. So, I switched to my PS3 and a Blu-Ray movie (Tommorowland) and wow, this TV came to life. It has a great picture; the blacks are deep, no flashlighting, grey uniformity is decent, and it can get pretty bright imo. And honestly the 720p picture isn't bad, it's just that I'm used to watching everything on a 4k tv, so I'm a bit spoiled, lol.
So, in conclusion, I would definitely recommend this TV, even for the $500 price tag, and am glad I got this over the 55" Toshiba that's running $399.99 right now. (Although that seems to be a good TV for the price).
My only real gripe with this TV, and the reason I don't give it 5 stars, is the lack of ARC or Anynet+. Even my 5 year old 40" Sony turns on and off my reciever with the TV, but this TV doesn't.

I had purchased a 60" Samsung smart TV earlier this year under the recommendation of my son-in-law and that I've always liked my Samsung phones and tablets. We absolutely loved it, set it up ourselves easily and without a hitch. This was our main reason for purchasing this one when our other 4 yr old no name tv bit the dust. We were not disappointed; the same ease of set-up (seemed even easier!) and awesome picture quality. I can not get over the quality of the picture especially when watching HD. I also love the ease of using the smart tv functions, so easy to switch to Netflix for a quick binge or movie night. Having my Samsung phone also helps as I can use the Samsung remote app and have full function including reminders when a favorite show is on. I love me my Samsung products! I will always purchase Samsung whenever I can.

This review will cover both the TV itself, as well as the buying experience at Best Buy. The basic skinny: overall a great TV for $649 ($100 off the standard $749), but it's too soon for me to give it an 'excellent' rating, since I've only had it a month. I'd be greatly pleased if I could get 10 years out of it, like I did with my previous set, a Samsung 47" DLP. Oh, how I miss my DLP, with it's non-reflective screen and six forward facing speakers in the base! Good sound is not part of the package with these new low cost LED television sets, so you should either invest in a soundbar or, like me, run it through your existing audio system. Out of the box, the colors are way too bright and over saturated. My understanding is these are calibrated for big bright display rooms, which pretty much describes Best Buy, Target, HH Greggs, etc. To fix this, go online and Google "calibration settings for Samsung J6200 series LED TV" and you'll find several options to help you get the picture that works best for your particular viewing room. I found this site helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sjNQrCKa14
Don't get hung up on whether it matches your exact model number, as this will get you in the ballpark and serve as a great tutorial for future "touch-ups". Grab a few of your favorite DVD's (ones you know backward and forward), brew a cup of tea or coffee, and be patient, as you may have to do this a few times. Do not fear - if you botch it there is a reset button that puts the picture back to its original values. You should calibrate both the 'standard' setting and the 'movie' setting. I use Standard for over the air (I don't have cable) broadcasts, and Movie for Roku streaming and DVD viewing. By the way, the digital tuner in this set is excellent; my flat Audiovox antenna draws in a terrific over-the-air HD picture. After several rounds of calibrating [spread out over a week] I achieved the optimal picture settings for my viewing room. The outer build on this model is rather flimsy [the norm these days for sub-thousand dollar sets) so you need to put it where it's going to live and leave it alone, save for the occasional dusting. Now for my buying experience at Best Buy: Excellent! One of the best things about Amazon is they've forced 'brick and mortar' stores to step up their service game. I was going to buy the TV on Amazon, but figured I'd give my local Best Buy (North Riverside, IL) a shot, since they matched the price. Every employee I came in contact with was courteous and professional. Not once did I feel pressured. They didn't attempt to up-sell me on a different model (another good thing about Amazon, and the web in general, is you can and should do your homework before making ANY big ticket purchases; there are reviews aplenty online and while I know you can't always believe what you read, one can visit enough sites to come up with a fairly valid consensus). So, if you're willing to invest a little time in the set-up, you can have an excellent picture for a modest price. Here's hoping you have the same overall buying experience I did. Cheers!

Excellent TV for the money

This is a fantastic display for the money. I've had mine for over a year and it performs flawlessly. For a lower cost LED 1080p display, it's one of the best on the market. Just so you know, this is a 60Hz native display, the 120Hz figure is only Samsung's smoothing technology which can actually make things worse. I recommend turning the smoothing of for good performance.
This TV is also great for gaming as it has extremely low lag time.
I highly recommend connecting an Apple TV and using the THX Optimizer app on an iOS device over Airplay to calibrate the display. Once calibrated, the color is accurate and properly saturated with great contrast.

This TV was a gift for my daughter for her new apartment. The price was wonderful for me and the TV picture is perfect for her. A 50 inch TV screen is a perfect size. It does not take over the room, yet you feel like you are right on the 50 yard line, first row when watching a football game. The color is vibrant and clear. She loves the Smart(ness) of the tv for watching Netflix.

Amazing picture!

I replaced a 40 inch Sony LCD tv with this, and the difference in the picture quality is phenomenal. Most of the large tv's without front facing speakers have barely adequate sound at best so I paired it with an LG sound bar and subwoofer (which was on sale) hoping it would make a significant difference; GREAT decision! I used to hook my Sony up to my stereo, and let me tell you this sounds better with the LG system than the other did through my stereo. After 2 days the tv figured out that I wanted the sound system on when I used the tv and automatically turned the LG system on when I turned on the tv. Altogether I am ecstatic about the purchase of both units, and they work amazing together.

I've waited a long time to get a large screen HDTV to replace the 32 inch non-HDTV I've had for many years. The old TV was working fine, except that because of the relatively small size of the screen sometimes parts of people or other images on the far right or left side wouldn't be visible. I bought my new Samsung after doing careful checking of reviews of flat screen HDTVs on many sites, including Consumer Reports, Amazon, and Best Buy. The very favorable reviews and sale price of this one at Best Buy, where I went to look at several models, convinced me to get this one. I'm very glad I bought it! It's picture quality is excellent; the sound is very good; it's relatively simple to use, and the flat screen is very nice. I really enjoy watching programs using my internet connection, especially tv series on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon that I used to only be able to watch on my laptop. I love watching them and other tv programs on the 50 inch screen, and I can't believe how great the color is--I can see fine details on people's faces and clothing that I never saw when watching the same programs on my old tv. I highly recommend this model!

Samsung 50" Smart LED TV

Purchased this TV to replace my old LCD. Since I had already owned a Samsung, I decided to look at the 50" Smart LED for a replacement. At the store the rep showed us the capabilities of this set and was very detailed and at the same time was educational. We had the TV delivered. The delivery techs assembles, made the necessary hookup and presto WHAT a clear picture, etc,. (Note) if don't have extra equipment to interface with this TV, you will only need a HDMI cable. However , if you have additional equipment , i.e, DVD recorder, etc., then you will need the component cables). They also took the old TV for disposal. I also highly recommend taking out the five year warranty. I highly recommend this TV model and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Eco Sensor may be best turned off

I bought this HDTV for my mother. We were both impressed by the quality of the picture after I put it in place. Unfortunately, that night she called to say the screen had gone very dim. After some unsuccessful troubleshooting over the phone I went in person to see the problem. When I got there the next morning the problem had disappeared. Then it reapeared that night.
It turned out this was not a problem with the TV but instead it was a feature called Eco Sensor, see below. I turned off Eco Sensor and all is well.
If you run into this here's how you can turn it off.
Eco Sensor adjusts the brightness of the TV automatically. This feature measures the light in your room and optimizes the brightness of the TV automatically to reduce power consumption. If you want to turn this off, go to MENU > System > Eco Solution > Eco Sensor.

when we first set TV up the contrast was off and I thought perhaps the LCD TV I had previously had had a better picture. But my husband used the smart settings and the picture came to life. It has beautiful colors, just brilliant and life like. I love the SMART TV capabilities. The size 50" is just the right size for the room we put it in and we mounted it to the wall. Once we get a universal remote and get it programmed along with our recliners, these senior citizens will be set!! Very happy with this purchase.

Overall this Samsung has it all. It has plenty of connections and features. I like the Guide feature which is a guide that is similar to cable but works with just an antenna and wifi. Smart features are useful but the browser is slow and hard to navigate. Netflix works great. Also good for sports. 120 hz is good and there is even a sports mode button on the remote. The picture is bright and clear and viewable from an angle. Highly recommended.

We looked at TVs for six months before deciding on this Samsung. We purchased a 4K but returned it after learning that 4K wasn't available just yet in our area. We wanted a TV with a solid rectangular flat stand but they were hard to find as most had two small prong looking things which we didn't like at all. We liked the reviews on here for this TV and when it went on sale shortly after Christmas we were sold. Great price and great TV. Setup is simple. I'm no computer guru but I had it connected to Wi-Fi in five minutes. We've enjoyed the Smart features and the picture is great, especially for watching movies. Sound is good, not excellent but that's ok as we have speakers connected. I highly recommend this TV!!

We were excited to get this TV and we thoroughly enjoyed the vivid colors and the customization features and the smart features. Our 10 year old grandson had just started a youtube channel and it was a thrill to see him on the big screen. Sadly, less than three weeks into our new Samsung TV experience an intoxicated family member went into a total drunken rage and smashed the TV into pieces. When I can afford to replace it, or the family member (now supposedly apologetic but I don't buy it) provides restitution, I will definitely have to rethink placement and containment of the TV. The downside of these wonderful flat screens is they are light enough to pick up and throw, unlike our previous 32" behemoth that weighed over 130 pounds.
If you have a family member who has a problem, be aware.

Tv is primarily used for console gaming and streaming video. Its definitely a great "transition" television for anyone that's still using using a 10 year old tv. Very happy with it - color is natural, and rendering is very good with no glaring video artifacts. Has 2 HDMI inputs and a single component input that may be a problem for some. The only gripes I have are that the web browsing experience is slow and almost non-functional. Additionally, using the numeric keypad to type things in is an exercise in patience. I tried the Samsung Mobile app for controlling the TV and it was terrible. Streaming sites work smoothly with good rendered detail using the native apps - assuming you can tolerate typing with a remote control. I'd recommend anybody getting this to invest in something like roku, apple TV or chromecast. Using these will allow you to seamlessly use your phone's keypad effortlessly. Overall, this is a great performer, and I'd purchase it again, since we're not sure how much money we'd really want to invest invest the LED 4k infrastructure (ie, higher cost for Netflix, broadband costs, and available 4k media).

Don't know why I waited so long to buy one? Replaced my old LCD 40" with a 50 inch Samsung LED J6200. Picture is so crisp and clear and the color is really nice. With built in wifi and all the apps to choose from I can't wait to get my new skype camera hooked up to see the grand kids on a nice large screen instead of a lap top.
Everything is so easy to set up just took a few minutes to program and start watching. As always the associates at Best Buy are so helpful and knowledgeable it made my buying experience easy.
