Lasted great for approximately 4 months. Then while watching TV the screen pixelated on the right side and the bottom. I’m currently going through Samsung Support to get it fixed. I’m not holding my breath. Definitely get the extended warranty from Best Buy if you decide to go through this route.

Bought this on sale, love the picture and size for my son's condo. There is no glare, in spite of being in a pretty high glare environment. The unit is light and easy to mount on a close-to-wall mount, with good cord mgmt capability. Remote is simple and easy to use, as are the menu system for use with all your favorites (Spectrum, Apple TV, Prime, Netflix, etc).

Hi FargoGuy,
We are sorry to hear to hear that you are having issues with your AU8000 TV screen. Samsung prides itself on high-quality products and a great customer experience. Please know we are here to help you.
First, let's make sure your firmware is up to date. To do so, head to Settings > Support > Software Update. From there, you can easily update if needed.
Next, 1. Run a Picture Test on the TV.
Navigate to Settings, select Device Care, and then select Self Diagnosis. Select Picture Test, select OK and then view the test. You can choose Yes if the picture looks normal, No if there is a problem with the picture, or Show again to see the image a second time.
2. Determine if issues are appearing during the Picture Test.
Look for issues on the screen during the Picture Test. If there are no lines, this means your TV is working fine. To identify and fix the issue, first, try replacing the cable of the external device that is showing image issues.
- If the issues still appear after replacing the cable, troubleshoot the external device. - If issues appear during the Picture Test, proceed to the next step.
3. Request service if issues appear during the Picture Test.
If you see issues during the Picture Test, please visit our Support Center to request service. We back this Samsung TV with a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty, including authorized repair for manufacturer defects, if purchased brand-new directly from an authorized seller.

Hi SteveKim,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung AU8000 Crystal UHD TV and sharing your experience with unusual lines appearing on your screen. Please try the following troubleshooting steps to identify where the lines are coming from:
Navigate to Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Picture Test, and then follow the on-screen directions
If the lines appear during the picture test, please visit the Support Center to request service. If the lines do not appear during the picture test, then the problem is the external device, and not your TV. Try replacing the cable that is connecting the external device to the TV. If the lines still appear after replacing the cable, troubleshoot the external device.
Please know, Samsung is committed to providing the best possible product experience, quality, and value. We back this Samsung TV with a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty, including authorized repair for manufacturer defect, if purchased brand-new directly from an authorized seller.

This review is for the Samsung 50” AU8000 series TV. I purchased this TV to replace a 13YO Samsung 1st generation LED TV that I wanted to relocate to a new but lesser used location.
Set-up was a breeze. The provided documentation is skimpy, but my only confusion was that “audio out” is now the HDMI port labeled eARC. (Dating myself.) The picture quality is excellent. I’ve made no changes to the default settings, nor do I anticipate doing so. Can I tell you it’s better than my old set? Not really. I didn’t put them side by side. They’re both great.
I can tell you that the cost value is phenomenal. The new set is slightly bigger than my old one, yet it was 1/3 the cost of my 13YO set.
If you read other sites, there are three common complaints about this TV. Two of those have to do with the internet interface and the remote control. Neither of those concern me, nor can I address them, as I use a Firestick and its own remote control.
The other complaint, which is valid, and for which I docked one star, is the audio quality. It’s not good, and not close to my old set. Then again, the new set is thinner and lighter. The whole TV weighs about the same as a good sub-woofer. It’s not really reasonable to expect dynamite sound, but it’s tinny and weak enough to deduct one star. So plan on buying a sound bar or attaching some other external speaker system. Did I mention the TV is 1/3 the cost of my old one? It’s a no brainer.

great picture and easy set-up. This Tv is really thin and the small width of the stand enables me to have it on my mantle without mounting it. Remote is not the greatest and should get external speaker if you are serious about sound.

The picture on this TV was very, very nice. At first I used it in my outdoor living space and it had a very clear picture for outdoors and provided pretty good TV sound. Thought it was too nice for that, so I moved indoors into workout room and it was even better there. Very easy to setup and was able to set all my streaming accounts on this TV easily with its setup.

Purchased this tv for my mother who lives in a different state (MA). She loves the tv. Good size, excellent color, easy for her to use and understand the functions (she is 84 years old). While she does not have 4K capability, she enjoys the depth and clarity of the HD cable channels. As usual, Samsung hits the mark with its tv's. I cannot comment on the finer details of the tv as I do not personally own it, but am providing the 5 stars as the tv worked right out of the box, was easy to install (I had geek squad install it for her) and my mother has had no issues. What you want from a tv!

New TV for our conference room, wireless display works great from a laptop, nice and share, plenty bright, light weight so I feel safe securing it with a flat mount to drywall with anchors, steel studs.. Always a little sketchy but never had an issue when well considered.

Broke Just 2 Months After Warranty Expiration!

I purchased the Samsung 50" TV (model number not specified) from Best Buy about 14 months ago, and initially, I was very pleased with the purchase. The picture quality was crisp, the colors vibrant, and the smart features worked well. However, just 2 months after the 12-month warranty period expired, the TV suddenly stopped working.
The problem began when the screen started turning black and shutting off. I contacted Samsung customer support, hoping they could offer a solution or some assistance. Unfortunately, they informed me that my warranty had expired, and I would have to pay for any repairs or replacement parts out of pocket. The estimated cost for repair was almost as much as I initially paid for the TV, which left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
While I understand that products have a limited warranty period, I expected a premium brand like Samsung to offer a more reliable and durable product. The fact that the TV broke just after the warranty expired feels like a slap in the face. I have owned several other TVs in the past, and none of them encountered issues so soon after purchase.
On the positive side, the Best Buy staff were helpful during the purchase process and provided me with all the necessary information. However, this experience with the Samsung TV has left me hesitant to recommend the brand or purchase another Samsung TV in the future.
In summary, while the Samsung 50" TV initially offered excellent performance and quality, the fact that it broke down so soon after the warranty expired is a major letdown. I would recommend potential buyers to consider other brands or models, or at least invest in an extended warranty to avoid similar disappointment.
